As beta female of the Blake Pride, Amilynn does whatever it takes to get the job done and guard her family—even if it might not be morally sound. Now that the Pride has moved in with the Blackburn Pack, she faces a threat she never saw coming…a mate. The sexy and persistent wolf wants to claim the leopardess, but she’s not going down without a fight. Ezekiel is used to getting what he wants and his eyes are set on his seductive target. Yet predicting Amilynn’s next move is fruitless. He’s caught between admiring her strength and resenting it. Does he dominate or submit? Can he prove to Amilynn she really is worth the fight? When a ghost from Amilynn’s past stalks their family, Ezekiel will learn her true strength. Amilynn isn’t a docile house cat and, by the time she’s done, everyone will know it. JoAnna Grace lives in a world of alpha males and strong females where true love conquers all—at least in her books! From the time she started holding a crayon she began to create magical worlds. Living in the real world was never an option. A proud indie, she has published over a dozen novels including The Divine Chronicles series, The Blake Pride series, Riverview Romances, and more. This writer loves to read contemporary, paranormal, and urban fantasy romance novels. JoAnna’s tales are spun at her home in East Texas where she lives with her Prince Charming, three kids, and a few dogs and cats. When not hiding behind the computer screen chugging coffee, you can find her having fun with family and friends, singing, camping, or managing multiple businesses.
This book is fine. I doubt I'll reread it or buy the next in the series. By the time I finished it, I was tired of the characters and ready to move on even though the plot arc wasn't finished.
Break Her Fall is about Amilynn, who is some sort of super-duper hot assassin feline shifter. She has her own dreadful history back in Nevada. Amilynn has heavy duty insecurities due to having had to prostitute herself as well as strip to keep food on the table. She's the only one who holds this against her. Ami's mate is Ezekiel, the twenty year old son of the pack beta. I think Ami is around 23, so it's not a huge age difference.
The plot involves them getting together and the second stage of the Nevada pack's efforts to capture the Pride. I thought Ami's fighting and shooting abilities were over the top, but after reading about her great beauty and tight body over and over, I should have expected it.
Now that Kasey and Vivian have mated everyone is on the lookout for the next one in the Pride to find their mate. Little do they know that Amilynn has already been claimed by a certain Alpha’s nephew and is fighting it tooth and nail. The only interaction with men that Ami has had with men aside from those in her Pride and now the Pack have been less than favorable to say the least. Most look at her and they see is a sexy body and an easy lay. She wants someone to love her for her not for her looks. When Ezekiel looks at her all she sees is his lust. He has his work cut out for him trying to prove his true feelings. Of course even with their crazy attraction they have bigger problems. Namely their former Pride Alpha Trace and his cronies one of which include Brian Ami’s bastard of an ex. No one is safe from their method of vengeance. They will do anything in their power to take Vivian, Conall, Ami, Melissa, Ty and now the Blackburn pack down. While Vivian and Ami will do everything in their power to keep those who they love safe. Will it be enough? How many sacrifices will have to be made before peace fills the Blackburn Pride lands again? How many will die or suffer at the hands of the sadistic animals who are hunting them all down? Could Ami have finally have found her Mate in Ezekiel only to lose him before they can really get started?
Independent Reviewer for Paranormal Romance and Authors that Rock
I give it 5 fangs.
Break Her Fall by JoAnna Grace is the second book in The Black Pride Series. I suggest this book for 17+. If you can, read book one Pride Before the Fall first. But it is not needed to enjoy this book
Amilynn (Ami) is a leopard shifter. Her small group or pride have recently join a pack of wolves and bears. Her alpha, Vivian is now the mate of the packs alpha, Kasey. There have been issues with the pack with the mating of a feline with a canine. But Ami is not one of them. She is happy for her alpha.
Ezekiel (Z) is the future alpha of the pack. From the first sight of Ami he knew she was his mate. But Ami is doing everything in her power to prevent it.
Ami has a past that she cannot put behind her. Z has to convince her that her past doesn’t matter to him and that it is her that he cares about.
Without giving away any more spoilers, if you Paranormal and Romance, then suggests this book. I will be going back to read the first book and will be reading any future books in this series.
I thought I already loved this series, but after reading the second book in the series I love it even more. The one thing that I really enjoy about this book is we get stories going on for all the power players in the series. I love we get into their heads. Amilynn is tough as nails, but though she thinks she keeps it pretty hidden with a heart of gold. Amilynn isn't taking all this change smoothly especially with the sparks coming off of Ezekiel when he is around. Ezekiel is the eldest son of the wolf pack they joined, but the mating scent is coming off of him for Amilynn. Amilynn doesn't want to be mated. Slowly, but surely the Blackburn Pack squeezes it's way into her heart. Ezekiel has a lot of work ahead of him where Amilynn is concerned not just their age difference, but Amilynn's trust issues. What Amilynn and her Pride mates went through has hardened them, but with the compassion of the Blackburn Pack they may just thaw. The Pride that Blake Pride left isn't going quietly. Now they aren't alone to fight, but do they have what it takes with the help of the Blackburn Pack? I can't wait to read the next book in the series.
I was given an ARC by the author for an honest review.
This is only my second book of Ms. Grace's that I've read and it wont be the last. I am loving this series. The characters are great. It's wrote so well that you can feel what they are going through and leaves you wanting to know more about the characters. I love the mix of characters and types of shifters in the book. I hope some of them get there own books. The author has a really good story idea and I am really enjoying the series. I look forward to reading the next book..
