He hides his grief behind charm and easy smiles. She’s spent her whole life surviving on her own. Falling in love is out of the question.

The first time I laid eyes on Adele Jacks, she was staring down a wild animal, bold and unforgettable. She stole my breath before I even knew her name. And I'm the guy who doesn't lose his breath over anyone.

I never planned to fall in love. Not ever. I’m the guy who laughs everything off, the charming cynic who hides his scars behind jokes. But Adele? She’s a force of nature who upends my life.

She's tough, she's smart, and she's hiding something. She's the kind of wilderness guide who can out-hike me any day and stare down a grizzly without blinking. Before I know it, she’s working at my family’s wilderness resort—walls up, defenses sky-high. She’s slipping through the cracks in my heart every time I catch the vulnerability she tries to hide.

The longer I know her, the harder it becomes to keep things light and uncomplicated the way I always have. Because underneath the flirting and easy smiles, I’ve spent years avoiding anything that feels too real.

But with Adele, I want to protect her, claim her, and make the world safe for her.

When a ghost from her past crosses our path, and I see the flash of something she thought she'd buried — I realize there's nothing I won't do to take care of her. Because somewhere between the slow burn, the reluctant sparks, and the small-town chaos, Adele became my forever. Scars and all.

Even if falling for her means finally risking my own heart, too.

A steamy, emotional small-town firefighter romance featuring a flirty wounded hero with hidden scars, a fierce heroine, forced proximity, slow-burn chemistry, found family, and a protective hero who falls hard and fights harder.
A full-length, standalone romance.

I once again came away from a J.H. Croix romance in total romance reader heaven. Be With Me, book three in the the Heartfire Falls series, completely stole my heart. Adele Jacks is the kind of FMC you instantly connect with — warm, relatable, and impossible not to love — while Cole Silver hides so many emotional scars behind his flirty smile and charm.

Watching these two slowly let their walls down and fall for each other was everything I love in a romance. The chemistry and passion between them was undeniable, but it was the emotional connection that truly made this story unforgettable. Seeing Adele bond with Cole’s family and finally find friendships and a place where she truly belonged honestly hit me right in the chest.

J.H. Croix has such a beautiful way of creating characters that feel real and stories that completely pull you in emotionally. Be With Me was heartfelt, romantic, emotional, and one of those books that leaves you smiling long after the final page. An absolute must-read romance.

"I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily."

We have the next book in J.H. Croix Heartfire Falls series and finally we have Cole Silvers story. Seeing what his family gone through since Bree is still heart wrenching yet in a way it has made them closer and stronger. We have seen Cole smiling, laughing and even telling jokes but it Adele Jacks that sees the real Cole Silver. Then we have Adele, one word to describe this girl is stubborn with a capital S. Nobody will tell her what to do and boy seeing her determined to do things on her own is just very strong in this woman. J.H. Croix not only created this character with such a medical condition that instead of making her seem weak it only made Adele stronger than ever. On the outside people see a young woman on her own but really the inside she is just wanting to be normal doing things she knows she can do. She is tired of everybody treating her like she is going to be break soon and boy seeing Cole having a hard time with letting her be is just wow. The protectiveness in him goes above and beyond but is his love for her. These two may say they just want to be friends but J.H. Croix sure knows how to have the temptation very strong. One thing for sure the Silver family is more than just owners of the Heartfire Falls they are a family that will welcome you no matter what you are, have or have gone through in life. I felt right away the love and warmth in this family it's so easy to see why this series is a hit and definitely one that you will love. J.H. Croix sure knows how to bring a romance from friendship to one that will make you do crazy things even try to fight a wolverine. Loved it.

AMAZING read! Alaskan Small Town Romance, 5/5 stars
I received this book as an ARC read, release day is tomorrow, 6/5/26!

Let's just say, I was hooked from the get-go. Be With MeJ.H. Croix
You are thrown into this beautiful town in Alaska, and the descriptions throughout the book are great. You feel like you're there with the characters. The attachment I felt to the characters instantly, made me love this even more. Adele's battles throughout her life has not been an easy feat. But thankfully she has Cole and his family there for her, the Silver family is so sweet, kind and the best people Adele could've ever gotten involved with. The STRESS I felt when Adele's heart was acting up! Thank god Cole was there. And the ending had me in happy tears! You learn to love EVERY character in the book, not just the MMC/FMC. J. H. Croix, is EASILY one of my favorite authors now! Thank you for this opportunity to read this before release!

Here are some of my favorite quotes (without spoilers):

“You’re still beautiful. Your scars are beautiful. They’re just part of your story. Part of your strength. I’m sure you know scar tissue is stronger.”

“But sometimes…” She trailed off, taking a breath. “It’s okay to be vulnerable, honey.”
That nearly broke me. I looked away, blinking fast. My breath puffed out as I tried to hold back something I didn’t want to feel.”

“As her children, we’d lost our only sister, and that was its own kind of pain. A deep, jagged slash across our hearts we didn’t talk about often but felt all the same. But as our mom, she had to carry more. In the aftermath of those compounding losses, at the same time, she’d held us all together when the fire took the only home we’d ever known.”

“You are something, Adele,” he said a moment later.
“Am I, though?” I teased.
“Yeah. I love you. All of you. Including the stubborn ‘hurry it up for my medical emergency’ you.”

"When I stepped back, my heart felt so full. I was in love with Cole, and I felt so lucky that his whole family came with him."

Cole and Adele are both a little leery when it comes to love and relationships. Serious health problems as a child have left Adele with a need to be independent and able to function on her own. Her parents’ brand of love was smothering and restrictive. Cole has seen his siblings partner up and is happy for them, but watching his mother fall apart after his dad died made him want to avoid love so he would never feel that kind of pain. He has a reputation of not being too serious and preferring casual relationships rather than serious and committed ones. Neither he nor Adele could anticipate that meeting each other would change their perception of love.

Adele and Cole meet on a hiking trail and he immediately admires her courage and feistiness as she tries to protect a snowshoe hare from a wolverine. Both feel the sparks between them, but she chooses to retreat and ignore them. She labels him a flirt and thinks it’s best to avoid him. That proves to be difficult in small town, Alaska, especially after she meets his mother, who invites Adele to come stay at the family resort in the staff accommodations after she learns her current rental situation will be coming to end soon. When she is offered a job a a wilderness guide too, Adele can’t pass up the offer, no matter how much she wants to avoid the very handsome and flirty Cole.

Cole is aware of his mother’s matchmaking and is actually all for it because there is just something different about his feelings for Adele. She makes him think of settling down, and building a future together. It becomes a bit of an advance and retreat situation between them as Adele battles her fears of being under someone else’s control again. Everyone who sees them together, including her new friends, urges her to give Cole a chance. Yes, he is a flirt, but they all agree that he has just never met the right person for him before. Everyone says he is a good guy and she can see that for herself, but can she let go of the fear and the doubts in order to give a relationship between them a chance?
Then an incident puts everything into perspective for both of them. They realize their feelings already go well beyond friendship and both want to take the next step.

This sweet romance has a bit of both angst and spice. It is an entertaining and engaging read. I am happy to recommend this book.

This book was very much in line with the author's previous works—sweet, cute, and filled with an easy, heartwarming romance. The story had the cozy feel of a novella, but with a bit more depth and emotional development. Cole first meets Adele when she is attempting to chase away a wolverine, and he's immediately drawn to her. For Adele, however, he's just a brief stop on her journey.

Adele's life has been defined by hospitals, medications, surgeries, and well-meaning people constantly looking after her. After finally being cleared of her heart condition, she is determined to live life on her own terms. That's what leads her to a nomadic lifestyle, hiking her way through Alaska and experiencing everything she felt she had missed. But Heartfire Falls has a way of making people want to stay, and Adele soon finds herself becoming attached to both the town and its people.

Cole is hesitant to act on his feelings because of his own past trauma. Yet the more he sees Adele fitting seamlessly into his family and community, the harder it becomes to keep his distance. What makes their romance especially enjoyable is that Adele's walls are even higher than his. Watching Cole fall harder and harder while trying to win over someone determined to remain independent was both sweet and entertaining.

I also enjoyed seeing familiar characters from the author's other series make appearances. Their inclusion added a nice sense of continuity without overwhelming the story or confusing readers who haven't read the previous books.

My only small criticism is Tommy's characterization. At times, he seemed far more mature than his age would realistically suggest, which occasionally pulled me out of the story.

Overall, this was a charming and feel-good romance with lovable characters, a beautiful Alaskan setting, and a gentle emotional depth that made it easy to become invested in Cole and Adele's journey.

Be With Me by JH Croix is an entertaining reluctant suitor (and suitoress) romance taking place near Willow Brook, Alaska. Adele is an excellent, if stubborn, character who has had plenty of trauma in her life, having survived several heart surgeries as a child. She was fine now, but it made her want to never rely on anyone for anything. Her goal was to hike all the National Parks in Alaska and she was here in Alaska preparing to scale Katmai. She had been staying at a room at Janet’s but there was another tenant arriving shortly. She would deal with it. Meanwhile, all of a sudden a man appeared on the trail in front of her, giving her the business about hiking on his property. Turned out it was Cole Silver, who was a tease and flirt. His family owned and ran Heartfire Falls, a resort that mainly drew hikers. There were six brothers and they led various hikes into the wilderness. Cole was a flirt. It was obvious. To everyone. He invited her to dinner with his family, which was cooked by Tommy, his fourteen-year-old nephew who planned to be a chef. Very entertaining family. Croix has done well developing them.

It wasn’t long before either of them was dealing with feelings they didn’t know what to do with. They were not a couple anyone would have predicted, being so different. There were twists and turns including a medical emergency on the part of Adele. Cole finally went to find out what was going on: after telling his brothers she had a headache, his brothers told him he had done something and he needed to go and talk it out. Turned out he found her pale and shaking on the couch and he took her to the hospital. Interesting diagnosis. Important part of the story. Cole and Adele are an excellent couple; hiking is one of the many things they have in common. Good read.

I was invited to read Be With Me by the author. All thoughts and opinions are mine. #BeWithMe #JHCroix

Adele and Cole’s story starts with a wolverine. When Cole “sneaks up” on Adele, he finds her trying to negotiate with a wolverine!

Cole is the one in the Silver family who is the biggest flirt. He’s not looking to settle down yet. But he really likes Adele!

He takes her to the family lodge for dinner. Maggie, Cole’s mom, folds her into the family. She has a feeling about the two of them. So does Tommy, and he hasn’t been wrong yet!

The kiss. When they have their first kiss, she makes it a point to let Cole know that she doesn’t do casual. After spending more time together, he realizes he doesn’t want casual either. But then Adele starts thinking…what if she’s too much for him? With her health condition, there’s always a chance that she’ll have to go to the hospital.

And then it happens…she knows, logically, that she needs to go to the hospital, but she doesn’t want to go. Panic sets in and then it gets worse.

Cole thinks she’s been avoiding him, so he goes to talk with her about it and sees that she’s really not doing well. He takes her to the hospital where they get her calmed down. Cole tells her he loves her and she’s going to be fine. She doesn’t respond, but she hears him.

They call her sister, Rowan, who is a cardiologist specializing in helping people with the kind of heart conditions like the one Adele has. She couldn’t do much as a child except watch her sister go through her issues.

Cole tells Adele he loves her and she’s going to be fine. She tells him she loves him too! This doesn’t surprise him! Nor does it surprise the people they love when they find out! They knew it all along…especially Tommy!

Another sweet story by J.H. Croix filled with heart and heat and love! I give this book 10 stars!.

Love and relationships aren't for him, he doesn't have time for them or the desire to put himself out there only to get hurt in the end. They are a complication in life that he does not need.... then she happens. The moment he met Adele Jacks he knew he was in trouble, never had a woman had that affect on him. There was no way he was falling for her... or was he?

The pages of Be With Me hold a story about two people who are completely adverse to falling in love, they see no need to add the complication of it to their lives. Then something unexpected happens, knocking them both of their feet, and out of their comfort zone. They meet... and suddenly the idea of love becomes something they both start to consider, not before trying to fight it first though...

Watching these two venture into uncharted territory and open themselves up to one another was truly beautiful. Both were so closed off to love and relationships, because of past hurts and such, but they also could not ignore what was happening between them. They had their ups and downs, outside forces to overcome, but eventually they found their way. And I was totally there for it!! I loved this couple so much! The vulnerability they showed, the way they helped one another heal, and the they took their time and fell so naturally... it was such a perfect done romance!

If you like emotionally charged romances than you have to dive between the pages of this one, these two will wreck your heart in all the best ways!! Highly recommend!!

Cole Silver keeps everyone at a distance behind his charm and easy smiles. He has spent years avoiding anything that is too real, and love is definitely out of the question. Adele Jacks spent her childhood in and out of hospitals dealing with her heart condition. Adele now is hiking across Alaska one trail at a time while maintaining her independence she so stubbornly refuses to relinquish. Adele doesn't hide her medical condition but doesn't like to discuss it either. Sparks fly between Adele and Cole from the moment they meet when Adele is keeping a wolverine from attacking a rabbit, and Cole trips the wolverine when he takes off after the rabbit. Will Adele accept a job and place to stay at Heartfire Falls? As Cole and Adele spend time together, will they give into their attraction? How will Adele and Cole react when someone from her past shows up on a hike? Will Cole be there for Adele when she needs him the most? Will a medical scare push Cole and Adele to admit their feelings for each other? I loved Be With You by J.H. Croix. Cole and Adele are a great couple with amazing chemistry. Cole and Adele had to work together to break down the walls they had built over time due their pasts. I love the nosy, loving Silver family. Can't wait for the next book in the Heartfire Falls series. I would definitely recommend getting Be With Me and the other books in the Heartfire Falls series by J.H. Croix. Be With Me is the third title in the Heartfire Falls series. I’ve just discovered this series, and I had no trouble falling into Adele and Cole’s story. I believe it could be read as a standalone, but the story is truly enhanced if you know the background from the earlier titles. I’ll definitely be going back to the beginning and plan to return for the (perhaps?) final story in this series.

Cole puts on a good show, on the surface, but it’s easy to feel the pain that never seems to completely leave him. Adele is independent and stubborn, doing her best to challenge herself to live a “normal” life. I was so impressed with the challenge she gave herself, which led to her meeting the love of her life. I enjoyed both their story and the various townsfolk who definitely added to their romance. For me, secondary characters make any story more realistic, and when you add in an entire small town and their shenanigans, well, I’m one happy reader. Be With Me is well-written, engaging, emotional, and a touch steamy. A difficult medical subject is addressed with grace and compassion. I’ve downloaded the first story in this series, and can’t wait to get caught up. If that sounds like your kind of romance, then you’d love Adele and Cole’s story.

*I received an e-ARC of this novel from the author or the author’s team via Booksprout, and I sincerely thank them for their trust. It is my choice to leave a review giving my personal opinion about this book.*

J.H. Croix delivers a captivating, emotionally rich romance in Be with Me, blending heart-tugging vulnerability with irresistible chemistry. From the very first pages, Cole and Adele leap off the page as fully realized, deeply compelling characters, each carrying scars that make their connection feel authentic, layered, and impossible not to root for. The writing is polished and immersive, with just the right balance of tenderness, tension, and small-town charm.

What makes this story special is its emotional depth. Croix masterfully explores grief, resilience, and the courage it takes to let someone in, while still delivering the swoon-worthy romance readers crave. Adele’s strength and independence are beautifully matched by Cole’s charm and hidden tenderness, creating a slow-burn dynamic that feels both satisfying and unforgettable. Add in the vivid wilderness setting, the sense of found family, and the expertly paced buildup, and this becomes the kind of romance that lingers long after the final page.

For readers who love heartfelt contemporary romance with strong character development, palpable emotional stakes, and a hero who falls hard, Be with Me is an easy five-star read. This is a beautifully written, deeply satisfying story that showcases why J.H. Croix remains such a standout voice in the genre.

What would you do if you found yourself face to face with a wolverine? If you are Adele, you challenge it to save a rabbit! If you are Cole, your trip it when it runs by to make sure it doesn't get close to said rabbit!
That is how Adele & Cole meet, in the wilderness with a wolverine!
They both carry scars, literally & figuratively, definitely emotionally.
The walls are very high for Adele, she has had to count on people her entire life because of her damaged heart. Now she just wants to do everything herself, be her own person & live her life.
Cole hides behind his humor, keeping his family & friends laughing & hiding the pain of his past. If you've read these stories, you know the Silvers lost their resort & their older sister to a wildfire, just a short time after they had lost the dad.
Neither ever intended to find love, it was the last thing on either of their radars, but love doesn't work that way. Just when you least expect it, the person you need the most appears. Cole helps her reconnect with her sister as well. Rowan became a cardiologist to try & save people like her little sister, but their differences put a small wedge between them.
Cole & Adele had a slow burn love story, but once Cole's mom hires Adele as a guide at the resort & moves her into the garage apartment, things heat up in a hurry. This story was such a great love story, sexy, spicy & entertaining! The Silver family is a kick & Tommy the little matchmaker still has it! Enjoy

This is book three in The Heartfire Falls series and it is Adele and Cole’s story and omg it is definitely a must read. Adele was hiking when she met Cole and there attraction, chemistry and connection was instant but with Adele’s medical condition and the amount of surgeries she had gone through she was very wary and didn’t rely on anyone except herself especially men because of her scars that she feels are ugly. Cole was instantly attracted and taken by Adele and because he was a bit of a flirt and joked a lot he was never really taken seriously but he felt that Adele was so different from other women but will he pursue her or not. When Adele is offered a job as a hiking guide and a place to stay at the lodge she decided to take it as it was something that she enjoyed doing. The more time that Adele and Cole spent together the closer they became but Adele is really wary of commitment because she likes her independence and also her health issues makes her keep up her walls but will Cole be able to eventually break down Adele’s walls and make Adele see that she can still be independent but also in a relationship but will it work or will Adele miss out on something so special, well only time will tell what the outcome will be for Adele and Cole in the end. I really love this book and series and how the family all work together and support each other regardless of the situation or circumstances. I can’t wait to read the next book in this amazing series.

This was a beautifully written small-town romance with a slow-burning romance that quickly catches fire. Cole and Adele make the perfect couple, each a bit gun-shy at first, but their attraction was clearly there.

Adele is a fiercely independent woman who has faced some medical challenges throughout her life. It's no wonder that she chooses to spend her days outdoors in the wilderness, walking the trails and making the most of life. Something she has in common, and she gets to know Cole Silver

Cole is an adorable character. He was lovable and swoony. He comes from a large family that experienced tragedy in the past. Their entire family is filled with an abundance of love, and laughter is something one can envy.

The characters in this story, as well as the series, are fantastic and lovable. Coles' mother is also a bit of a match-making momma; she is also the mothering type to those put into her path and deemed worthy, and has no problem bringing them into the fold of her beautiful family. Little Tommy, a chef in the making, is always a standout character. He is a little heart melter who is wiser beyond his age and never fails to make us laugh.

A heart-warming story of love, acceptance, family, and friendship that is emotional and gives you all the feels. The witty banter between friends and family provides the laughs we need in this well-crafted tale. We loved it from beginning to end and everything in between.

Back to the Falls We Go

In this third installment of the Heartfire Falls series, we meet yet another Silver brother looking for love, Cole. Well, not necessarily looking, as this brother has some walls up, but there was something about his chance meeting with Adele that stuck with him.

Cole’s first meeting with Adele involves her trying to keep a wolverine from getting a little snow bunny, and her fierceness instantly intrigues him. As handsome as he is, though, Cole is just another guy she meets along the trail. After spending most of her life cooped up and being taken care of, Adele is determined to live a life full of adventure. That decision leads her to hike across her home state of Alaska, but Heartfire Falls, the Silver family, and the townspeople soon have her rethinking her plans.
Funny and charming,

Cole holds back because of his own past, but watching him try to win over fiercely independent Adele was both sweet and fun. One of my favorite things in a series is seeing previous characters still involved, and J.H. Croix does this beautifully.

I instantly liked both Cole and Adele. They each had their own struggles, but it didn’t completely rule their lives. Instead, they were willing to take chances and imagine a future…maybe even one together.
The book is well written and a great addition to the series. It can be read as a standalone, but it’s much more fun when read in order.

Cole Silver’s family owned Heartfire Falls resort in Willow Brook, Alaska. The family has had a rough couple of years starting with the sudden loss of Coles’s father, then a wildfire that destroyed the resort and took the life of his sister. Now the resort was up and running with all the Silver boys working together to rebuild the structures and the hikes they provided to their guests and anyone interested. Cole was the jokester of the family and never thought he would be interested in a serious relationship because that just allowed the possibility of losing something else important to him. That all changed when he found Adele Jacks staring down and talking to a Wolverine on one of the hiking trails on the family’s property. Adele has her own walls built high around relationships. She is extremely independent and on a mission to hike all of the parks in Alaska. He need for independence and freedom comes from a medical issue with her heart and spending a lot of her childhood in the hospital. Falling for Cole isn’t what she expected and having everyone she meets immediately accept her into their lives as a friend/family is new to her. Getting to their hea isn’t easy with both of their past experiences and a few problems along the way but like Cole’s brothers who found their hea the Sikvers fall hard and fast and do what it takes to keep the one they love.

Be With Me was a charming, heartwarming romance that delivered exactly what I was looking for—sweet chemistry, emotional depth, and a couple worth rooting for.

J.H. Croix does a wonderful job of creating characters who feel authentic and relatable. I enjoyed watching the relationship develop naturally, with plenty of tender moments and just enough angst to keep me invested. The connection between the main characters felt genuine, and their emotional journey was satisfying from beginning to end.

One of my favorite aspects of the book was the setting. The small-town atmosphere added warmth and charm to the story, making it easy to get lost in the world and the lives of the people who inhabit it. The supporting cast also added depth without overshadowing the central romance.

The pacing was steady, though there were a few moments where the story felt a little predictable. While I would have loved a bit more tension in certain scenes, the strong emotional connection between the characters kept me engaged throughout.

Overall, Be With Me is a comforting, feel-good romance with lovable characters, heartfelt moments, and a satisfying happily-ever-after. If you're looking for a cozy romance that leaves you smiling, this is definitely worth picking up.

This is book 3 in the Heartfire Falls Series and it was great to reconnect with the Silver Family. In this book our fun loving Cole gets his eyes and his heart opened wide when he least expected it. A story full of letting walls down and opening up for something more.

Cole has always kept his emotions closed off to everyone. The fun loving, flirty jokester as he is known for hides all the things he doesn't want to feel. The losses they have endured sit deep down. Never letting anyone in close, sure he was not a saint. He was not prepared for the feeling that Adele brings out in him.

Adele is travelling Alaska one hike at a time. Though an Alaskan native, she feels free and strong when hiking. After so many hospitals and visits since her childhood, she feels the need to roam. She doesn't like people worrying about her but doesn't hide her issues either. Keeping people at arms length seems to be her thing. But slowly brick by brick she is getting used to the idea of Cole being around and liking it more than she wants to.

Grab your copy and watch the story unfold as these two let the chemistry take over and see where it leads them.

Be With Me is the third book about the Silver family and their resort in Alaska written by J.H. Croix. I always only her books, especially those that take place in Alaska.

Cole Silver and Adele Jacks meet under strange circumstances. She is standing between a rabbit and a wolverine. She is hiking on a trail she thought was public land. When Cole comes to see who is hiking on a private trail that is part of his family's resort he is completely taken by her. The wolverine tries to get around her to get to the rabbit and somehow Cole manages to trip it as the rabbit gets away.

Cole invites Adele to his brother's wedding dinner at the resort. For some reason she agrees to go. She is welcomed with open arms by his brothers, mother and two sister-in-laws. Before she know it she has a new job and a new place to live.

These two both have baggage (who doesn't) that keeps them from believing they can have a happily ever after.

Pick up the book and find out for yourself how they get their own HEA.

Adele has always lived in Alaska, she spent a lot of her childhood in hospitals, now she's spending as much time as she can outside, she walks trails and is a qualified guide.
She meets Cole on what she thinks is a public trail, but it's owned by his family who own Heartfire Falls, he invites her over but she's not ready to do that yet.
She meets him again when she's out to get some supper, the place is full but she knows he's there! She can feel him. Cole comes over with Haven, one of his five brothers, they're holding a celebration for Jude and Kendall's marriage. She joins them and meets his mother who is charming and interested in hiring Adele as a guide, she persuades her to move into the apartment above the barn, accommodation while she works for them.
Cole and Adele get closer and closer, he's never had a relationship before as he's always just flirted with women and Adele hasn't as she spent her youth in hospitals and now she's travelling around Alaska visiting all the national parks.

I completely fell in love with Be With Me! J.H. Croix has delivered an incredibly sweet, heartfelt story that hooked me from Cole and Adele’s hilarious first meeting right up until the very last page. These two main characters were absolutely perfect for each other, and their undeniable chemistry practically spilled off the pages. What made their journey so rewarding was the real emotional depth behind it; both Cole and Adele are highly guarded when it comes to love, hiding their vulnerabilities behind humor and fierce independence. Watching them navigate those defenses, learn to trust, and open up to one another made their slow-burn romance feel beautifully grounded and deeply touching. Beyond the main couple, I absolutely loved the side characters. The incredible sense of found family and the warmth of the local community added so much charm, making the entire setting feel like a place you never want to leave. This was such a comforting, sweet, and heart-squeezing read that showcases exactly why this small-town series is a must-read! I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Adele Jacks and Cole Silver meet when Adele is facing off with a wolverine. Adele grew up in Alaska and plans to hike around the whole state. She is very independent and has issues from childhood. She had heart problems, had a couple of surgeries and spent a lot of time in hospitals. She is healthy but has to monitor herself. Cole is one of the Silver brothers who rebuilt the Heartfire Inn after the fire destroyed everything and killed their only sister. Cole constantly flirts because he doesn’t want a deeper relationship because you can be badly hurt if something goes wrong. Then he meets Adele, a person with even more walls then he has and he falls for her hard. Maggie Silver (Cole’s mother) can see that her son has been knocked off balance by Adele and offers Adele a room above the barn and also a job leading hiking trips. A lot of women ask if there is a female lead as they feel more comfortable. Cole is a goner for Adele, but she has to let her walls down if she wants something special with Cole. This is a really easy-to-read, comfortable story. I was rooting for the two of them to let down their guards because they seemed made for each other.

I truly enjoyed this story and loved the chemistry between Adela & Cole which was truly exciting but also had very heartfelt moments. There were so many things that were enjoyable but also heartwarming between the lead characters, but also the side characters. It was very relatable which had a lot of lovely moments.

Adela has been searching for the next climb and is looking forward to have one more under her belt. When she meets Cole on a hike, sparks fly between them from the start but there's something holding her back. As days go by, she feels much more at hom at Heartfre Falls and is getting to know everything around the town. Cole has never really felt how he feels for Adela, even after only knowing her for a few days but there's just something about her that makes hm very protective about her and just wants to know more about her. Adela's finding her feet and the bond between her and Cole is growing. With everything going on around them, Adela loves being in the new town and has found some new friends along the way. But will it be enough to make her stay and will Adela & Cole have a chance together in the end...

"Right from their very unique first meeting up until the end of the book, I loved everything about Cole and Adele’s story. JH Croix is magnificent in writing realistic characters, and she truly excelled herself with this pair. They both have pasts that impact themselves and their decisions in the present. But with all that going on what they find with each other forces them to step out of their comfort zones. It isn’t smooth sailing, but I also really liked how they didn’t let what happened to each of them get in the way of a potential HEA.
An added bonus to this story is definitely the Silver family, I’m just about ready to hop on a plane and beg them to adopt me - I absolutely adore them all and I can’t wait to step back into their world." ~Sharon

Another amazing story from JH Croix. Cole Silver is the next brother to fall and Adele couldn't be any more perfect for him. Independent and stubborn seems to be Cole's kind of catnip. From their first meeting you could feel the attraction and tension. Being thrown into proximity of each other ignited the flame. I love multi-faceted characters and the Silver's and Willow Brook don't disappoint. ~Cindy

Once again an excellent and addictive read that will tug at your heartstrings from the get go!

Cole has learned to mask pain and anxieties behind jokes and light heartness, the one that smiles too much, a flirt, an easy going soul who is afraid to feel in order to avoid the pain, the loss. THen there is Adele, a feisty stubborn woman who has had a rough start at life with health issues and has the scars to show. BUt she wants to live to the max, and that means experiences, independence, and a trip to Alaska.

Their meet-cute is sweet and funny, but it clicks a fuse for both of them. As she stays in town they get to know more of each other, he sees her scars and wants to shelter her, she sees the facade and wants to break it. But through the story you see how they both grow through a few bumps. HE learns to be himself with vulnerabilites and all, she learns that there is life within restrain. THeir love is passionate and sweet, the family is just delightful, and the story just addictive.

A great read!.

Heartwarming Alaskan Romance
Adele Jacks does not dwell on guys. She has never even had a boyfriend or romantic relationship of any kind. Her life has been her parents and her sister. Her need to be independent overrides everything and she does not like to think about why. In strides Cole Silver. He is occupying all her thoughts. He has a unique ability to simply stroll into her space and instantly all rational thought vanishes. Cole has never thought love was worth it. Watching his mother grieve his father was enough to make him want to avoid love forever, however, Adele that makes him sizzle and want so much more. There is something about this woman that scrambles his brain. This is a swoonworthy small town romance with so many feels. It is about chemistry, protective alpha males, love, found family and so much more. Definitely a sweet heart squeezing read. Love catching up with all the reoccurring characters in this series too.

Heartfire Falls
This is a wonderful series about the Silver family. Adele and Cole meet when she's confronting a wolverine. As the wolverine runs past them to try to get a rabbit, Cole sticks his leg out and trips the wolverine giving the rabbit a chance to escape. They are both impressed by the other one. He offers to take her to see the falls but she's reluctant since she doesn't get involved because she's had a heart problem since she was young but it's kept under control now with checkups. Adele needs a place to stay longer term, Cole's mother hears and offers her a place to stay at Heartfire. Then she gets an offer to help lead hikes for the lodge. Cole's mother is trying to be matchmaker between Adele and Cole when she sees that they are interested in each other but not doing anything about it. There's a lot that helps Cole and Adele that helps them along, too. They have a lot in common because of the hiking and love of the outdoors. I really liked this book and I'm looking forward to the next Silver brother's story.

Due to medical problems as a child, Adele has loved the wilderness and has hiked all over Alaska. Now she is in the Willow Brook area where Heartfire falls is located. While hiking, she runs into Cole Silver, one of those “Silver Boys”. Instant attraction is noted by both of them, but, they both aren’t sure they want a relationship. Adele becomes a female guide at the Silver’s resort and grown closer to Cole. Everyone in the family sees the love they have for each other before they do. As trouble from Adele’s past surfaces as well as a medical issue, they both publicly acknowledge their love. Loved this new addition to the Heartfire Falls series. It was great to catch up with the whole family as well as to see Tommy in his element. Put this book on your TBR pile as it is a great book that can stand alone even as part of the series. This author does a great job a writing that keeps you wanting more!.

Adele was independent woman hiking a trail in her home state of Alaska where she was planning a hike in nearby Katmai National Park, when she noticed a wolverine on the trail who was hunting a hare for its lunch. Stayed between hunter and prey, then heard Cole Silver who told her was hiking on private property, then invited her to see the nearby falls and visit the resort his family owned. She was attracted to Cole, but because of early childhood heart problems and two open-heart surgeries shied away from the opposite sex and declined his invitation. Adele was serious hiker, often serving as guide for groups in Diamond Creek and when came to Silver resort, was immediately adopted by Cole's mother Maggie...who wanted female guide and hired her, offering her staff accommodations since her rental in Willow Creek only for another few days...Cole who was natural flirt and she became closer...but you will need to read this tale to see if two people who never committed can work out their fears...I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Oh man it was so good to be amongst friends in Heartfire Falls 🥰

So Adele is tiny but fearless and she’s survived a lot medically and is fiercely independent and I think part of her wants to prove she can do it on her own but sometimes leaning on others isn’t a bad thing anyhoo she loves the wilderness and having grown up in Alaska it owns a piece of her and who better to team up with on hikes other than the Silver brothers 😉one in particular catches her eye…. Cole 🥰😉

Cole and I knew early on he was a goner to Adele “ Adele Jacks was a firecracker to my nervous system “ despite his thinking he’s not ready for love , Adele bowls him over 🥰

Cole’s mother is playing match maker , not that they need help but Adele needs a place to live and the resort needs a female hand when it comes to hikes and activities so it seems it’s a win all the way round 🤗

Adele and Cole were a gift to watch and their story was great to be part of and I can’t wait to be back in Heartfire to catch up with friends again 🥰
