Before I ever wrote a single word, I was living stories—behind hotel front desks, in boardrooms, and across spreadsheets. My first career unfolded in luxury hospitality, where I learned to anticipate danger behind a smile and uncover secrets wrapped in charm. Later, as a CPA with clients ranging from commuter airlines to exclusive resorts, I became an expert in what lies beneath the surface—financially and otherwise.

But I’ve always been a reader first. The kind who couldn’t help rewriting endings in my head or imagining what the heroine might have done if she had just trusted her instincts. Eventually, those inner rewrites became full-blown stories—gritty, passionate, and laced with peril.

Now, I write romantic suspense for readers who crave heart-pounding twists and fiercely smart heroines. Under the name Jena Wilde, I create stories where desire collides with danger and trust must be earned one secret at a time. Because sometimes, the most seductive lies are the ones we tell ourselves.

This story is truly interesting- it is unique, suspenseful and full of characters that I would like to get to know. The setting and plot are classic tropes for a romantic suspense story, but still contain enough unique detail to make the story stand out. I was impressed — but also not.

There are some sections where I was really cheering Kate on - but a few places where I was annoyed with her relentless insecurities. I was riveted by the suspense in some sections, and found the movement slow in others. A few plot points felt clunky and out of order, like they should have happened in a different part of the story.

Overall, a solid three could easily become a four with a good editor and some re-working. I’m still interested enough to read book two and see what happens.

A fun read that stays true to the genre. Great description of the setting, likeable characters and snappy dialogue. I loved that it is a stand alone book but the threat will weave through the series. Well done Jena.
