"Keep your powder dry...and your Glock close to your junk." Looking for an action packed thriller that's funny as hell at times? Here it is.
Red Vapor (Chaos Forever Book 1) by Scott Moon is the first Post-Apocalyptic book that I have run across by Scott. I have read quite a few of his science fiction books and can honestly say that Scott is a well talented author with stories that are entertaining with well developed characters, humorous at times, and the way he creates the background for his characters is just plain mind boggling how he can take you into a foreign world bringing it to life through his words on the pages as you read them and this first book in his Chaos Forever series is no exception.
Shortly into the first few pages, you will find yourself drawn into the storyline with his well-written and well-defined cast that will keep you on the edge of your seat while reading to see how they get through one deadly situation after the next. In this first book, Jason Liddell, a Wichita, Kansas seasoned detective and SWAT officer, finds himself caught between surviving the aftermath of a biochemical attack and an EMP unleashed on the U.S., if not the whole world, and protecting a nine year old girl, Maddie Thompson, who is one sassy, strong minded, smart, and humorous as hell. Though some may find her vocabulary, that of a sailor or a seasoned truck driver at times, is a bit much for a nine year old little girl, I personally found it hilarious as hell. With the dialogue so funny that it brings tears to your eyes while you're laughing your ass off. You'll find yourself glued to the pages to see what comes out of her mouth next. But that's just me and my warped sense of humor.
I have found this first book, in what appears to be a five book series so far, to be very interesting, enjoyable, and humorous with action-packed scenarios from the first chapter to the last. If you're an action junkie like myself, you're really going to enjoy this book.

A very good post-apocalyptic novel. The characters in this story are diverse and complex. Perfect to carry the story. It begins with Jason (ex-cop) living in Kansas when clouds of red vapor appear in the sky killing every thing and nearly everyone. Jason realizes what is happening decides to travel to the west coast in search of his ex-wife and children. so far he has managed to find a little girl, a dog who seems to be able to skirt the clouds of vapor and several other people. Read to find out what happens, Well worth.

Interesting Read
So far we hear about the Red Vapor and who will be the main characters in the story. Its interesting. I’m wondering if it’s man made, supernatural or if there will be aliens or zombies. And what about Buddy? What did his owner give him?. I'm ready for the next part of the story. Hopefully its already out.

I don't enjoy giving one star ratings but this one deserves it. The book is chaotic. There's little cohesion between characters. It didn't really close so much as end. My guess is the sequel (which I will read) was supposed to be part of the first book, but it was cut. That was a mistake.

Excellent Start to an Interesting Series
"Red Vapor" is a thrilling start to what promises to be a compelling series. Scott Moon's blend of action, heart, and high-stakes drama with a unique perspective makes it a must-read for fans of post-apocalyptic Science Fiction. The characters are well-developed, and the story never loses momentum. If you're looking for a novel that combines SciFi, survival and deep emotional stakes, this is one to pick up. There is plenty of room for the next installment, and I'm sure looking forward to reading
that. Highly recommended. Five out of five stars!

Great unique post apocalyptic book
I've been a fan of Scott Moon for awhile, usually reading science fiction. This book gave me something new and exciting, Its themes of found family along with the amazing action make it a great book to read. If you enjoyed the stand, and Dean Koontz you'll love this book. Moon writes compelling characters from Jason the cop, Vicky the doctor, Mike the bad guy that might just get his redemption to...a dog who really steals the show along with Maddie a kid straight out of true grit. I can't wait for the rest of the series.

Red Vapor by Scott Moon is an exciting sci-fi survival book that kept me reading fast. When a deadly red cloud spreads across America and destroys cities, Jason Liddell sets out to find his missing family. He travels with a smart orphan, a doctor, and a special dog. The plot stays super fast as they run from dangerous threats. The brave, caring characters make you hope they reach safety.

Interesting story.
I enjoyed reading this. Unique plot for apocalypse. Loved the POV from the dog and the little girl. Definitely worth the time to read.

Good read
Tension builds throughout as a group of random people unite to survive the Red Vapor. I quickly found myself invested in the characters. Of course there’s a kid and a dog!

Unusual End of World
This unique book has unusual characters that are well developed. Can not wait for the mystery to be resolved. How much does the mist have intelligent thoughts. Who created it and for what purpose? Small answers a little at a time while the plot swirls!
