Tender Poison: Saving Oliver

Rate this book
She lived behind a mask.

He watched from the shadows.

By night, Sasha is a dancer who controls the room without ever being touched. By day, she keeps her life quiet, guarded, and deliberately small. She doesn’t ask questions. She doesn’t dig into rumors. And she never lets herself want too much.

Owner of the city’s most exclusive clubs, Oliver is dangerous in ways Sasha doesn’t want to name. He offers protection without explanation, kindness without softness, and distance without absence. Whatever he is involved in, it’s not clean and she doesn’t want to know.

Until secrets stop being optional.

When Sasha is forced into a marriage she never chose, her carefully built distance collapses. Trust turns brittle. Desire turns bitter. And the man she let close becomes the man standing beside her at the altar, silent, complicit, and terrifyingly calm.

She doesn’t know what’s

that he lied,

or that she would still burn the world for him.

Tender Poison is a slow burn dark romance

masked identity

morally gray MMC

forced marriage

betrayal without infidelity

A.B. Monnette

A.B. Monnette is a young author who grew up in Haiti before moving to the United States at a young age. Due to bullying and discrimination, Ms. Monnette did what she knew best. She read, daydreamed, and eventually started writing.

She discovered Wattpad at thirteen, which brought her into the world of opportunities and romance books. Eventually, the lack of black female protagonists left the hopelessly romantic out. Ms. Monnette decided that if she couldn't find her representation, she'd make her own.

Her first book, Only You, started as short stories she would share with her friend in their English class. Due to her mental illness, she took a break and did not get back to writing books until four years later during the COVID-19 Quarantine.

Even though English is not her first language, A.B. Monnette kept writing and editing all of her books repeatedly until it's as perfect as possible. With encouragement from family and friends, she decides to publish on Amazon.

Through her writing, readers can understand the mind of A.B. Monnette. A young woman whose dreams are incorporated into her writing.

When she's not writing, Ms. Monnette works on her master's degree, go shopping and karaoke with friends, and daydreams about new stories. She can be found via Instagram(@AB.Monnette), Wattpad(@AB_Monnette), and Pinterest(@XxabmonettexX).

It didn’t feel believable. I read a few mafia, arranged marriages and this just didn’t feel like it was anything like that. Then the human trafficking aspect was sprinkled in. I believe it had potential just maybe rushed through.
