This book drew me in with its premise of obsession, power, and forced loyalty, and it delivered a dark, emotionally charged mafia romance.
The heroine’s story as a traitor’s daughter and an unwanted outcast immediately made her compelling. Her desire to escape the violent world she was born into and follow her dream of becoming a singer added a vulnerable, human layer to the story. Watching her become the object of Carlo Vicini’s obsession — not by choice, but by circumstance — created constant tension and unease in the best possible way.
Carlo is dangerous, magnetic, and deeply manipulative. As the future Don of New York, he embodies control and menace, yet his charm makes him impossible to ignore. His relationship with the heroine is explosive: volatile outside the bedroom and intensely passionate inside it. Their dynamic is built on power struggles, defiance, and undeniable attraction, making every interaction feel charged and unpredictable.
What stood out most to me was the balance between romance and darkness. The story doesn’t shy away from violence, threats, or the consequences of old vendettas, and that raises the emotional stakes significantly. The question of whether love can exist in such a controlling, dangerous environment lingers throughout the book and kept me turning the pages.
This is a spicy, dark mafia romance with morally gray characters, forced marriage, and high emotional tension. Fans of interconnected crime family stories and intense enemies-to-lovers dynamics will definitely enjoy it.
