Buckle I move to Mink Hollow hoping to find my Fated mate while staying close to my best friend. Instead, I get abducted by a hawk, dropped from the sky, and wake up with two mates. I’m an Alpha chipmunk shifter, professional family man at heart, and apparently a walking Fate magnet.
Perry I’m an Omega squirrel who likes plans, rules, and not having my new Alpha almost eaten. I did not plan for a second mate, especially one with wings and anxiety the size of his wingspan. But here we are, and I’m determined to keep us all alive and emotionally regulated.
Able I’m a Beta hawk who accidentally tried to eat his Alpha mate. Having two mates means twice the feelings, twice the panic, and zero idea what I’m doing. I’m pretty sure I’m not built for love, but Buckle and Perry clearly didn’t get the memo.
Mate Mishaps is a low-angst MM shifter mpreg romance featuring fated mates, a polyamorous triad, found family, and super cute babies. Packed with cozy chaos, caretaking vibes, hurt/comfort and, of course, a guaranteed happily ever after.
I’ve always been a reader and a daydreamer. My writer origin story is embarrassing now that I think about it. But also kinda funny, maybe. One day I might share. If people ask nicely. It involves a psychic.
I share an apartment with my sister in Southern Indiana where we keep the AC on year round and try to keep each other entertained.
A MMM romance set in shifter omegaverse with fated mates, accidental meet-"cute", excitement, hurt/comfort, age-gap (upto 12yrs), hope, first times, family drama, love, m-preg & HEA! I'd been looking forward to Buckle's book. Now it's finally his time 😁. I loved Perry, Buckle, Abel! I haven't seen these shifter-types in books so that was new & cool. Devoured my #ARC in 9hrs (over 2 days)! It's cute & slightly emotional.
Buckle's Alpha Chipmunk. B's earnest with the classic protective yet sweetheart, rugged mechanic. Perry's Omega Squirrel, pleasure shop-owner. P's resourceful, bold, mature & caring. Abel's Beta Hawk. Ab's cute & anxious librarian, he crochets too! He can be closed off (grumpy off page?) & runner 😅, has self-esteem issues.
What a thrilling meet they've 😂. A+P's flirty, confident while Ab's so nervous & worries, I like their patience with him. Ab's younger, virgin. But all 3've been through shit. So cute when vulnerable & communicate. They can be jealous but slowly grow. B's unrequited love had hurt in Pax's book but I'm glad he went through therapy & fated mates did help 😅. He'll be best Alpha for em 🥹.
I liked their dynamics & it's bit of a slowburn but it's sweet & HOT. They all get their times in focus WHICH I ADORED. I'm biased, I wanted more of B in spotlight 🤷♀️. I like P takes-no-shit (& not fragile!). Ab's asshole family drama made for a tense yet thrilling sub-plot! I liked when Ab blooms into himself 🥰 & believes in their love 🥹. We get to see the babies 😍.
The world lore was cool. Especially I'm so happy that we get info on the heat frequency & gestation time! I like getting exact timeline yet rarely get that in books. NGL it's different that Betas can't've bio kids here! If there are more books in this series, I hope we kinda delve into the why more 🤷♀️. There are some typos which I hope get corrected in final book!
Best meet cute I ever read! If I ignore the whole 'i'm so in love with my best friend even though he is mated' bit from the beginning, the book started great. I mean hated chapter one but then it was great. I was so excited, I thought I found a new favorite shifter book but I quickly realized that I didn't like it as much.
I love a good MMM but it has to be a good one. Fair and balanced for example. I don't think it was well balanced at all. I'm very big on fairness while sharing, just ask my boyfriend when I force him to share his candy with me. Here though? I was so disappointed. I get that Abel wanted to wait with sex but Buckle and Perry fucked for weeks before they started having sex together as a throuple, sure Abel said he is okay with that. I don't mind if just two people have sex in a throuple but at least, for the first time, they should do it all together. That was the common thread in the whole book. It was Perry and Buckle and Abel felt like an afterthought. Honestly to me, Abel felt like a live in nanny that gets fucked. Sure they loved him but it all felt so unbalanced. Abel as a Beta didn't bring anything, he didn't have pheromones or can't get pregnant/impregnate. Why did the author write it like that? I don't get it. Sure he was useful for his old Kettle but that didn't bring anything useful to their relationship.
Which is a shame really because Abel (23) was SUCH a anxious sweetheart. I love him. He was so sweet and felt so undeserving of love even though he had so much to give. Sometimes he felt infantalized though, ughhh. Perry (28) was a no nonsense bossy Omega, that I liked. Buckle (35) was very whatever honestly, don't really have any opinion on him. We barely got any character descriptions. Ugh, I don't know why authors do that? No freaking clue how Abel or Buckle even look like.
The first third of the book made me smile a lot and the sex scenes were hot. My favorite scene was probably their first "movie" night.
Overall it wasn't bad at all, I liked the writing and the story. It just felt so freaking unbalanced. 3.5 ⭐
Mate Mishaps is a thoroughly enjoyable tale of a polyamorous relationship between three shifters — a squirrel, a chipmunk, and a hawk(?) — with an adorable and unusual meet-cute. Omega Perry is a squirrel, and is responsible for saving Alpha chipmunk Buckle as he falls from the talon’s of Beta hawk Abel. Poor Abel is absolutely mortified that he almost ate his mate, then dropped him when he realized Buckle was his Fated Mate…..and then, that so was Perry. It took him a long time to process, then believe it was true.
As a Beta, Able had always been told he was worthless by his parents and the members of his Kettle, never having been shown caring or love, kicked out once he presented as a Beta at 13. He found refuge in Mink Hollow and ten years later he currently works in the library and helps with community events. Because of his background he has a hard time believing he could be someone’s mate, let alone a Fated one, and it takes a lot of slow convincing on the part of Perry and Buckle to get Abel to believe they both are actually his Fated mates, and that they want him now and forever. I adored Abel as a character, he was so sweet and retiring, unable to believe he could ever be wanted by anyone as a mate, let alone two, until these two crashed into his life and worked to change his perceptions about himself and what he deserved. There were several times I wanted to reach in and give him a hug and let him know he was loved, he is that sweet.
Most of the book deals with the developing relationship between the three as Perry and Buckle introduce virgin Abel into the delights of intimacy in several open door encounters. The chemistry between the three is hot, the naivety of Abel, and the measures Perry and Buckle take to ease him into things and to make sure he always is asked for consent first, is heartwarming, and Abel’s reactions are so on point for a shy virgin who suddenly figures all of this out, then enthusiastically participates. When Perry’s heat hits, his mates are there to help, and of course there is a condom malfunction, and babies are on the way, sooner than planned, but welcome all the same.
Characters are realistic and relatable, their attraction and love for each other quickly grows, and they are there for each other in any situation which arises. Things are not always smooth, but with unwavering support for each other they meet challenges together, having each other’s backs, ready to do what is needed to protect each other. All in all, this is a satisfying and entertaining read which had me smiling much of the time, and rooting for them to work out a way to be together, for each other and their new babies.

Audiobook (Audible) / ARC - such a phenomenal MMM shifter fated mates romance story. I love the inclusion of an Alpha, Beta, and an Omega for this trio and how beautifully the Alpha (Buckle) and the Omega (Perry) quickly recognize the nievity of their Beta (Abel) and work together at a speed most acceptable to their least experienced member and ensure all within the trio feel loved and cherished. I also love that each mate is a different shifter species and not the same. The story stays with a harrowing beginning with Abel in his Hawk form picking up Buckle in his chipmunk form causing the mating spark to ignite. This startles Able and he drops him feeling ashamed that he almost ate his mate and then dropped him from an insane height. Perry shifts from his squirrel form to catch the falling chipmunk triggering a second mate spark to ignite tying all 3 together. Such a great beginning to this story and quickly draws the reader in with this distressing start. Story as a decent conflict both throughout as well as a main issue that needs to be addressed and solved before the hea ending. The narration is phenomenally done, so much so that it seemed like each POV had their own narrator and not the same individual. The differences between the characters and their personalities is easy to distinguish between the characters.

Absolutely adorable. What a meet cute! I've read a few predator/prey stories, but not one where one nearly eats the other. Like Aaron said, the trios meet cute was the epic-est, ever. Morgan Lysand offers us a very atypical alpha/omega/beta story. Buckle has some un-alphalike characteristics. He is protective, but also so very vulnerable. Definitely needs lots of hugs. Perry, the omega, is so take charge, I had to mentally pause, "he's omega...right?", because he truly is alpalike. Betas are not usually MC material. Often relegated to the background since they can neither carry babies nor impregnate them. After the abuse he experienced at the hands of his Kettle, Abel is afraid of intimacy and extremely diffident. A lot more "omega-like" than Perry. It's not only the gender rules that the author annihilates. Morgan Lysand has the NERVE (clutching my pearls) to send out into the omegaverse (fanning my face) the truth that some fated matings are truly toxic. And that Fate can be WRONG (nearly fainting here). Shocking. Absolutely shocking. There's only one thing to say (and it's not "Lynch them"). Perfect, it was absolutely. positively Perfect! Some angst (it's not only Perry who would like to burn that Kettle down), so many blushes, lots of cuddles. A quick, sweet read. 👍👍👍.

This book was just… fun. I’ve read shifter romances before, but never anything with squirrels, hawks, and chipmunks trying to navigate feelings and fated‑mate chaos. Mink Hollow has this cozy, slightly messy charm that pulled me in right away, and now I get why people love this world.
Buckle, Perry, and Abel are such a sweet trio. Buckle being the tiniest chipmunk alpha cracked me up — he’s small, steady, and protective in that quiet way that sneaks up on you. Perry brings warmth and boldness, and Abel… my anxious little hawk librarian. His family is absolute trash, and I loved how Buckle and Perry never let him face that alone. They show up for him every single time, no hesitation, no judgment. That support is really what made their bond feel real for me.
Their meet‑cute is adorable and chaotic, and the way they move toward each other feels patient and intentional. There’s vulnerability, healing, and a little jealousy sprinkled in, but it never gets heavy. It’s just three people figuring out how to love each other well.
The audiobook makes it even better. The humor lands, the soft moments feel softer, and the whole thing has this easy, comforting vibe that made me want to stay in Mink Hollow longer.
This was my first Morgan Lysand book, but definitely not my last. I can already tell I’m going to end up reading everything set in this little town.
Oh this is good, it is so good!! Thank you for giving us Buckle’s story. It was also so great seeing Pax and Aaron again.
Buckle moved to Mink Hollow after his best friend and crush met his fated mate. Buckle had been in love with Pax for years, but once fate had her way he knew he was friend zoned for life. It’s time though for Buckle to meet his mate. He is searching and searching for them. Is he looking too hard?
Abel is a cute librarian and Perry is a business owner. Both have met Buckle and both think he’s adorable. When Fate strikes, both men are his mates. Their meet cute is a total meet cute. Both men have a traumatic past and both need Buckle’s patience and kindness in their lives.
I absolutely loved this story!! I think Abel stole my heart immediately. Perry may be the Omega in their polycule, but he is strong in his own right and just the Omega for Abel. Buckle is perfect for them both. Their story is one of patience allowing love to grow fully and confidently. The way the three shifters melded together so sweetly, each needing the others, each finding their way together. It was absolutely romantic! Oh the crew of characters in this book is so fun too. I hope we get to see more of Elsbeth and the other betas.
I don't typically read m/m/m and I've never explored it within the omegaverse before, so I wasn't sure what to expect. However, I really enjoyed the dynamic and how it deviated from the traditional norms associated with Alphas, Betas, and Omegas. Alpha Buckle, despite being big and brawny, didn't have the possessive, touch-him-and-die attitude often found in Alphas. Similarly, Omega Perry wasn't the stereotypical weak Omega; he was a self-assured, sexy, confident badass. Completing the trio is Beta Abel, who, after a lifetime of verbal abuse from his family (which we witness on page and is pretty heart breaking), is somewhat broken and in dire need of therapy and the support of his mates. I appreciated that the most vulnerable member of the trio was the 'predator', while the seemingly more dominant ones were 'prey' animals—a great twist on the usual Alpha/Omega dynamic. Overall, I thought this was a great book and I would definitely recommend it.

Mate Mishaps is delightfully chaotic in the best possible way. From the very first chapter, it leans into the absurdity of its premise and never looks back, yet somehow still manages to feel cosy and heartfelt throughout.
The dynamic between the three leads is what really makes the story shine. Each of them brings something different to the relationship, and watching them figure out how to exist together, emotionally as well as physically, is both entertaining and genuinely sweet. There’s a strong caretaking element running through the book, which gives it that comforting, found-family feel.
I also appreciated how it plays with expectations of the omegaverse without making a big song and dance about it. The characters don’t neatly fit into traditional roles, and that adds an extra layer of interest to their interactions.
It’s a quick read, full of warmth, humour, and just enough tension to keep things engaging without ever tipping into heavy angst. If you’re after something soft, slightly bonkers, and ultimately very wholesome, this one is well worth picking up.

if you are anything like me you fell hard for Buckle in MINK HIJINKS and knew that he needed his own story. Buckle is one of those characters who deserves not one, but two mates and I am so happy to say Morgan agreed when I may have begged for this. Now to say these three are thrown together in a way you won't forget is the understatement of the century and yep perfection. Perry & Buckle know fate was right to get these three together, sweet Abel, having grown up the way he did needs a little more coaxing to accept this. I loved that they took their time in getting to know one another before moving forward, showing Abel, he is loved and cared for and will go at the pace he needs to feel comfortable with taking any steps. Loved Pax, Aaron & their growing broad were a major part of this story and how great they were in accepting and encouraging these three to work towards what makes them happiest.
For being Morgans first go at poly, they did a spectacular job in bringing balance to the needs of all three people. Sure, Abel had more page time, but he needed it to feel loved and accepted. These three are just so dang sweet together and appreciated all three got the therapy they needed to move from their pasts. By finding your fated doesn't mean you are fixed, no time and work get you there. Seriously adored this story, it was all I wanted for Buckle and more.
Buckle (alpha chipmunk), Perry (omega squirrel) and Abel (beta hawk) are a fated throuple. They meet in a cute, funny way. They start feeling out each other until they're comfortable together. When Perry goes into heat things go differently than they planned but works out in the end.
This book is filled with way too much angst and past trauma from all three MCs. 🤦♀️ Buckle was too shy and whiny at times to feel like he was really an alpha. Perry gave off the flirty, bossy omega to a tee. Abel seemed way to shy and traumatized by what happened to him ten years before IMO. They seemed to just automatically care just because of fate, without any getting to know each other. 🤔The big climax with Abel confronting his parents was actually anticlimactic. 🙅♀️ It's an okay book but not anything outstanding IMO, sorry to say. 🤷♀️
I had a sweet spot for Buckle in the first book in this series and I am so happy he has his own book now and what a book. Was looking forward to read it. Love it. Buckle is hoping to find his mate for some time and suddenly it happens in a totally strange way.
I wanted to hug Abel so many times. How he grows in this book is amazing, how is exploring, thanks to his mates taking care of him and giving him space to grow, so beautiful. Librarians are always good to have in a book. Well done how he stands up for himself, I was so proud of him.
Perry makes me smile, with his jobs and the things he does. He is no typical omega, but it just fits in this story and with his mates.
A book with a strong story and I like it that it is so nicely wrapped up. Also nice to see Pax and Aaron back in the sidelines.
Tripp came home to his fiancée in bed with someone so they were told to get out then went out to get drunk where he messed around tDray. Tripp got sick so Dray just left and found he was pregnant but they hadn’t exchanged numbers or names so Dray didn’t know how to contact Tripp. One night the dragon bartender gave him a coin for the machine at a tattoo shop so he did that and out came a drawing of Dray’s snake. So Dray put it on Tripp’s chest and agreed on a date Tripp didn’t like that the guy that Dray pregnant left. So they went and ate. They had to scan their wristbands under a blacklight, when Tripp saw Dray’s scales he knew he was the person that had Dray had been with. They talked about everything and understood what had happened.

This is a low stakes, fluffy story which was just what I was after. All 3 of our love interests have past trauma with Abel especially having terrible, very toxic parents, but the story still managed to feel low angst all the way. There was a lot of focus on the 3 of them getting to know each other and not push anything before anyone was ready. Abel especially had a lot of character growth and it was wonderful to watch him blossom into confidence/recognizing his self worth. Definitely worth a read if you're looking for something sweet where the characters take the time to get to know each other before diving into bed together.

When I read the blurb I was immediately intrigued by the characters, I also love MMM+ books and I also love fated mates, so for me, it was a match made in heaven! For some reason though I just could not get into this story, the writing felt a little bit disjointed to me, there didn't seem to be a flow between each character perspective, it just seemed kind of choppy.
I also think certain things were a little rushed and felt a bit out of character during certain parts, especially considering what gets mentioned/said in the beginning of the book.
I think others are going to love Buckle, Abel, and Perry, but for me, it just didn't hit the mark. 😭😭.

'"No one gets jealous." Perry holds up a finger. "We're in this together. We talk. If anyone is uncomfortable about anything, we talk and come up with solutions."'
I love that this story includes a Beta in the Fated relationship. While there still exists the typical Alpha & Omega, it's wonderful to see the ever important Beta be included in that love match. Abel deserves SO much love after what he's been through, and Buckle & Perry are the perfect duo to give him that extra special care.
These guys are great communicators as well, and I greatly appreciate how understanding Buckle & Perry are about Abel's hesitance and inexperience. I love that all 3 MCs are also shifters, so even though their animal halves are all different, they have something important in common and don't have to hide or try to explain themselves as so many have to with human relationships.
Mate Mishaps was a really fun read after having read Mink Hijinks previously. We met Buckle in that book, and it was wonderful to see him get his much-deserved HEA with two very special mates. I can't say I enjoyed the interactions provided with Abel's family, but I was very happy with the way it all played out in the end. It was incredible to watch Abel really come out of his shell and find the happiness and real love and family he deserved.

💭 My Thoughts: 🐾 Oh my heart… I adored Buckle, Perry and Abel so much! Beautifully written, their story is chaotic, funny, tender and yes, very spicy 😏. I loved watching the three of them learn to trust each other, love each other and find their way as a perfect little and sweet polycule. 😭🤧 I was genuinely moved by their struggles and I love how Morgan handled their journey with care, authenticity and depth. 🥰 Buckle’s patience and care, Perry’s confident sweetness and Abel’s vulnerability created the most heart-melting dynamic. I really enjoyed this book. I was so hoping to read Buckle’s book after reading Mink Hijinks. Buckle is feeling lonely and wanting to find his mate. After returning to Mink Hollow after visiting his family, he shifts into his chipmunk and goes to play. When running around, he gets picked up by a hawk, and dropped as they both got zapped. He is taken care of by Abel and Perry , who is a squirrel shifter. As the three of them get closer, Abel’s hometown starts getting more insistent on things. I loved their communication and watching Abel come into his true self. Also loved how they took care of Abel’s kettle. Cannot wait to read more in this world.
I absolutely loved this fated mates omega verse MMM romantacy. I am always excited when I come across unique to me shifters so was giddy to come across chipmunk and squirrel shifters.
This was fun, sweet and had me smiling from start to finish.
Avery Wilde did an excellent job bringing the story to life. His wide vocal range makes it so he gives us a unique voice for every character and it was a delight to listen to.

Abel (hawk), Perry (squirrel) and Buckle (chipmunk) story was quite interesting with a bit of heartache thanks to traumatic past and leftover insecurities, a bit of danger and adrenaline, shenanigans and teasing, as well as many funny and endearing moments. I liked how their relationship bloomed, how they gained confidence, and how much happiness the bundles of joy brings them. The birthing scene was quite interesting, as well as endearing. I really enjoyed the story, and I’m looking forward for the next adventure.
Aaron and Pax move to Michigan and invite Buckle to move onto their land. Pax is best friends with Buckle who has a slight crush on Pax. Aaron and Pax are mink shifters who met in the ‘Mink Hijinx’ book; where Buckle is an alpha chipmunk shifter. He has been looking for his mate so he can be as happy as Pax. Buckle meets Perry a omega squirrel shifter who is one of his mates. They then encounter Abel a beta hawk shifter, when Abel kidnaps Buckle. Abel is unsure that Perry and Buckle are his mates due to his upbringing. This is a cute funny romantic story with a happy ending.
Thank you for the book; here is my honest opinion: 2.5-3⭐️This was an okay read, it just maybe wasn’t for me. It’s a bit saccharine sweet which did quite land for me and Abel seemed a bit infantilized. I know Buckle and Perry were trying to care for the younger, less experienced Abel, but was a bit grating for me. I did love catching up with Pax and Aaron, and seeing how happy they still are together. The characters are nice but the relationship didn’t quite work for me. But, if you love a sweetness overdose, these three are a good option. Round up.

This was a cute shifter omegaverse story where instead of the traditional alpha/omega pairing Buckle (alpha), Perry (omega), and Able (beta) are all fated mates. I loved how all of the mates were determined to respect each other’s boundaries and to communicate clearly. I do think the subplot brought up an interesting point that I wish I had more information on, but maybe it will be addressed more in a later book where these characters are secondary characters in someone else’s story.
I received this ARC for my honest opinion. Mate Mishaps by Morgan Lysand is a cute and wonderful read. I love that Buckle got his own story. Buckle, Perry and Abel's journey is one that is amazing and fabulous to follow. I loved how they all learned from each other. They all had journey's of trauma they needed to heal from and ended up in the same place at the same time. Fate had them all come together in a way that would allow them to prosper and be the best versions of themselves. This allowed them to explore it safely and together. They communicated really well and made sure they each of them knew where they stood. I would highly recommend reading because was beautiful written and Buckle is such an amazing character and to see this growth from him is amazing.
I don't think I realized going in that this is a story from an already established world, it didn't much affect the story, just made me want to read the other ones.
Buckle, Perry and Abel are adorable. They are patient and kind with eachother. They learn about eachother, from their past trauma to what they each like. They get to heal and grow together.
It was a great story with lots of love, low angst, and some fun.
This was a fun read, with three main characters with wildly different personalities. Abel was my favorite, with his doubts and anxieties keeping him afraid most of the time. I loved how protective Perry was, and how much Buckle doubted his ability to be a good alpha. They worked together through everything, and it was really cute. Low angst, medium-high heat, HEA.

Three mates whom endured a few personal ordeals before finding one another. Misunderstandings can create a mess. It was wonderful to see them talk about what went wrong. What do I love as much as poly romances? The absolute cutest shifter pairings. Perry, Buckle, and Abel are definitely on my list of re-reads.

I really enjoyed the interplay between Buckle, Perry and Abel and how Morgan Lysand has their different personalities interact. The bit where Abel accidentally tries to eat Buckle and what comes from that was an innovative meet cute. Maybe a “Meet eat”? Lots of love and humor in this book.
Buckle, Abel and Perry story was so sweet and exciting with the narrator’s voices and accents, as well with the way events developed. I liked how he portrayed emotions, and certain key situations, as well as how some shenanigans were brought to life. It also had a healing aspect, as well as joy and happiness, bravery and courage to close the path that brought suffering and sadness.
Mate Mishaps by Morgan Lysand is an amazing paranormal shifter romance. Avery Wilde did an incredible job with the narration. The story is entertaining, interesting, enjoyable, funny, emotional, fast paced, sad, lighthearted, and more.
