About the author

Tahereh Mafi is the New York Times and USA Today bestselling author of the Shatter Me series. She was born in a small city somewhere in Connecticut and currently resides in Santa Monica, California with her husband, fellow author Ransom Riggs. I can only assume a higher power looked down at my suffering and decided to intervene, because Escape Me is releasing on September 29, 2026. Tahereh Mafi… you heard my cries. Although, to be fair, I’m not sure if this is mercy or financial sabotage. Because let’s discuss the absolute CHAOS that is Fall 2026... Not only are we getting Escape Me, but also: Untitled, Threshing Day, Untitled, The Last King of Faerie, Dead Beat, The Knave and the Moon, Holy Monsters, The Wolf Queen, Stormside AND on top of that: A Conspiracy of Charming Monsters: Illustrated Tales from Elfhame and The ​Mirror of Infinite Endings. So basically… every publisher in existence got together and decided to empty my wallet personally. Also, something funny: some people keep calling these three series (Shatter Me, Once Upon a Broken Heart, and Elfhame) the “Big 3.” And honestly? I see the vision. But I have my own Big 3. The ones with permanent legendary status. The ones with stable value. The holy trinity of obsession.
