Callum Goode, the grumpy creator of the beloved website Goode Tidings, never planned on unlawfully occupying the abandoned lakeside cabin where he spent summers as a child. But after a painful and humiliating betrayal, he trades the city for a secluded life in the mountains. I absolutely LOVED "Goode Tidings" by Jennifer Millikin. My god, this book made me LAUGH! Everything about this book felt near perfect. The setting, the characters, the situations, the laughs, the spice, it just hit all of the right notes for me. I loved Eden (FMC) and Callum (MMC). Eden and her teenage son, Oliver, are heading to her ex-husband's cabin in Snowflake, AZ, for the next year. What is supposed to be an empty cabin is shockingly occupied by a grumpy website creator, Callum, who turns out to be the ex-stepbrother of her ex-husband. Callum has been squatting in the cabin, slowly fixing it up, since retreating there after a painful heartbreak two years ago. He never expected that Eden and Oliver would wiggle their way into his cold, hermit-y heart. The chemistry between Eden and Callum is off-the-charts good, even from their first very awkward encounter. The back-and-forth, biting, witty banter is so freaking funny. Eden is sassy, sunshine-y, and has no filter but is very sweet, and Callum's reclusive and standoffish, but clearly has a good heart deep down, based on his "good deeds" website. The way they slowly become friends over time really won me over, and I loved when they became more than friends. Eden keeps gradually, delicately pushing Callum to open up to the world and to life, to become part of the town he swears he hates, to prove that he's more than just a hermit. Callum pushes Eden to start her own business and believe in herself and her talent. I also liked how they each began to heal from the wounds of their past with one another. I also loved the relationship between Oliver and Callum, especially that scene where they play baseball. Cue waterworks!! Eden's ex-husband/Oliver's dad/Callum's ex-stepbrother is a piece of work, but I even appreciated what happens with him in terms of his character arc. This is a near-perfect romantic comedy that strikes an excellent chord between heartwarming, hilarious, and spicy! Hannah Chiclana and Aaron Donahue offer up the *perfect* audiobook performances of Eden and Callum. Hannah has that perfect cheeky and sunshine combo to her voice, and Aaron is delightfully grouchy. My final note: I do have to say, the use of the word "pheromone-maxxing" in print in the year of Cthulhu 2026 made me want to absolutely ***hurl,*** please, please, please, let's not embrace this vernacular!!!!!!!!!!!

firstly thank you to jennifer millikin and valentine pr for this arc. i absolutely adored eden and callum, they were such a cute and beautiful couple. the relationship between them was so honest, mature and with eden’s teenage son added in, made it wholesome.

given how i feel right now, i think that
means i liked it, too.’

i am a sucker for a forced proximity romance and this delivered everything i wanted. it gave us awkward meetings, tense and flirty moments as well as open conversations. eden was such a joy to read about, i liked how she was so protective of oliver and just wanted to make sure he was happy and felt safe. i really liked see her grow and believe in herself more, especially when she got closer to callum. callum was a grumpy gentleman, but for eden and oliver would do anything. just seeing him seamlessly fit into their family was so nice. the way he went from the ‘sad hermit guy’ to being someone who goes out into town was nice. i feel like eden and callum was exactly what the other person needed to grow.

this was just such a fun and enjoyable read, that i really recommend, i also loved seeing the cameos from klein & paisley and dom & cecily. i now just need paloma to find her match 🤍

"Eden is my business. Which makes Oliver my business!"

This story follows Callum, Eden and her teenage son when they meet in the cabin from Eden's ex husband. Callum squatted there for the last 2 years and Eden is supposed to be staying there for the upcoming year. They solve this clash with Callum moving out and moving into the “office”. In the period that follows they interact more with each other in different occasions. They quickly find out that there is more than a common place they want to stay at.
This was a cute story. I enjoyed reading about Callum, who was the hermit of the town but slowly turned into a person that wanted to be where he was again. Eden too, she is a woman has to do everything herself, she has no one to rely on. I'm glad to see that she manages to let loose more. Than her son, I loved how perceptive he was. We often forget that kids are like that.
The romance between Callum and Eden was explosive and very enjoyable to read.
I was not a fan of Eden's ex. I found him a horrible father and if it were me, He would have had to do a lot more graveling to be accepted again.
Overall this was a very cozy read.

Audio book – 5 stars

This book is narrated by Hannah Chiclana and Aaron Donahue. I enjoyed their interpretation of the characters very well. They matched the vibe of the book so well with their voices. I was not familiar with these narrators yet, but I'm sure to be on the lookout for more of their work.

Goode Tidings is a sweet, cozy small-town romance with a grumpy hero, a sunshine heroine, and plenty of forced proximity. Callum is a grumpy hermit hiding out in his ex-stepbrother’s cabin in Snowflake, Arizona, hoping for some peace and quiet after a painful betrayal. Instead, Eden and her teenage son Oliver show up planning to spend the year there too.

Eden doesn’t have the heart to throw Callum out, so he ends up moving into the shed on the property. And honestly, watching this grumpy man slowly come out of his shell was one of my favorite parts of the story.

Eden was such a fun FMC. She’s sunshine, has absolutely no filter, and I really liked her personality. Her dynamic with Callum worked so well because she keeps pushing at those walls he has built around himself, while he slowly realizes that maybe letting someone in isn’t such a terrible idea.

Once Callum finally got out of his own head, he became such a great hero. The romance was sweet, the chemistry was fantastic, and I really enjoyed the characters and the overall plot.

And then there’s Oliver. He’s fourteen and at that age where his mom is becoming increasingly embarrassing, which gave us some genuinely funny moments. 😂

Hannah Chiclana and Aaron Donahue were both new narrators to me, but I really enjoyed listening to them.

They brought Callum and Eden to life beautifully and captured the contrast between Callum’s grumpy personality and Eden’s sunshine energy really well. Their performances made the chemistry between the characters easy to feel, and the lighter, funny moments worked especially well.

Final Thoughts

Goode Tidings was a sweet, cozy, and enjoyable small-town romance. I really liked Callum and Eden together, and their chemistry was definitely one of the highlights for me.

Callum starts out as a grumpy hermit who wants nothing to do with anyone, but watching him slowly let Eden and Oliver into his life was really satisfying. Eden’s sunshine personality was the perfect contrast to him, and I loved how she kept getting under his skin without even trying.

Oliver also added some great humor to the story, especially with that very specific teenage embarrassment of having a mom who has absolutely no filter.

Overall, this was a fun and cozy addition to the Serendipity & Shenanigans series. It can be read as a standalone, and if you enjoy small-town romance, grumpy heroes, sunshine heroines, forced proximity, family dynamics, and plenty of chemistry, this is a lovely one to pick up.

First of all, I would like to thank Valentine PR and Jennifer Millikin for receiving an ARC copy of Goode Tidings.

Reading Goode Tidings was definitely a mixed bag for me. While there were elements I genuinely appreciated, a lot of the execution left me rolling my eyes.

To start off, the writing in this installment felt noticeably more cringe than previous books in the series. Between the forced "your mom" and "bro" jokes and dialogue that tried way too hard to be funny (like the period joke line), the humor fell flat. The millennial-style humor throughout made the characters feel weirdly out of touch. Unless they’re meant to be in their mid-forties, it just felt off.

The romance dynamic was also a bit bizarre. On one hand, Callum and Eden have this instant, intense physical attraction where they're constantly ogling each other within 24 hours of meeting. On the other hand, their actual bond is built so gradually that while it’s technically styled as a slow burn, it doesn't quite hit like one because the physical tension is right there from day one. That said, Callum himself is total "acts of service" material, and I really enjoyed the calm, low-conflict atmosphere of their storyline. That serene, cozy vibe is always what I look forward to in this series.

Character-wise, Eden is a strong lead. I loved seeing how independent she is, particularly her decision to walk away from a job where she wasn't valued, and how surprisingly open she was from the start. Her relationship with Oliver, however, brought up some odd dynamics. Oliver’s behavior towards her felt way over the top, as someone who loves spending time with their own mom, I couldn't relate to his dramatic attitude, and I felt bad for Eden. On top of that, Justin was infuriatingly childish. It made no sense why Oliver idolized his father so much when the man does absolutely nothing for them, though I was glad when Oliver finally started seeing through him.

As Callum step-dad vibes go, I started to see the vision toward the end, though I wish we’d gotten more actual interactions between Callum and Oliver to really establish that relationship.

There were also a few plot points that stretched my suspension of disbelief. Logistically, I couldn't stop wondering how Callum runs a story-sharing website that somehow generates enough revenue to pay himself and three full-time employees, especially when free platforms like Reddit exist! And later on, Callum casually diagnosing Oliver’s appendicitis over a simple phone call felt pretty unrealistic, regardless of the circumstances.

Overall, if you enjoy low-drama, cozy reads with a sweet, service-oriented male lead and can look past some cringe dialogue and questionable logistics, it’s an easy read—but it definitely isn't without its flaws.

After the initial confusion and miscommunication, Eden and Oliver settled into the beautiful cabin that Callum has renovated. Callum moves to a small office outbuilding on the property while he tries to figure out where to go next. Eden believes that Callum may have had good reason for ‘squatting’ at the cabin without permission, so she tries to get past his grumpy behavior and find out why.

Eden is a single mom looking for a peaceful community and more quality time with Oliver before he grows up. She’s had to take charge of everything in their lives because her ex Justin is an unreliable, irresponsible, childish man. Eden and Callum are both wounded from past experiences in life and need someone to believe in them.

Watching the relationship develop between Callum, who the townspeople call Sad Man Hermit (Hermie), and Eden, the woman full of sunshine with no filter, is such a sweet, slow burn. The banter between these two is hilarious and so cute. I found myself smiling and laughing throughout this story! This is the first book I’ve read by Jennifer Millikin and now I am reading her back catalog.

I enjoyed a deeply immersive experience with both the eBook and the audio. Narrators Hannah Chiclana and Aaron Donahue did a great job bringing these characters to life!

Book #3 Serendipity & Shenanigans series

I had the best time listening to this book. I love Jennifer Millkin's writing style. This series has been such a joy to read. The stories are interesting, addictive, heartwarming, and funny. Good Tidings is a fantastic addition to this series.

Eden is a single mom to Oliver, a 14-year-old that she is trying to hang on to and get as much bonding time and quality time as she can before he grows up and leaves the nest. Getting the opportunity to stay in her ex-husbands cabin for a year, Oliver & Eden take that chance for a new start and adventure. Eden is working as a wrapping paper designer so she can work remote, though she dislikes her boss. When these two arrive at the cabin they are in for a shock. Enter, Callum, Eden's ex-husband's former stepbrother. Things get so cute, interesting, funny, and downright adorable from there. Callum is living at the cabin but gives up his room to Eden & Oliver. Callum is known as the town grumpy hermit. He's really just a big ole softy at heart.

I smiled, laughed, kicked my feet, and swooned while listening to this book. The playful banter was perfectly written and performed. You could not ask for a better pair of narrators. If you're a fan of romantic comedies, then this book is right for you.

This was such a good book. I loved Eden and Callum, they were such fun on their own and together, even when things were frosty, the banter was there.

Callum has his privacy rocked when Eden and her teenage son Oliver turn up unexpectedly at his cabin in the woods, which belongs to his ex step brother and Eden’s ex husband Justin.

What was surprising was that Callum wasn’t supposed to be there despite him renovating it and that he’d been there for 2 years, Justin never knew. Eden and Oliver were going to turn up and stay there for a year, but Justin hadn’t known that the cabin he had left available to them didn’t even have the basic utilities.

They solve the issue by agreeing that Callum will move to the office/room in the garden, but they seem drawn to each other and start spending more and more time together, especially when they are forced to be in close quarters following a terrible storm.

Eden is so used to being the one in control and having to solve all the issues as she’s been a single parent for a long time and never having the option to rely on anyone.

Callum wants to have a family and care for people, it’s just who he is, he is kind and patient and starts stepping up for Eden and Oliver.

I also enjoyed the other characters in this book such as Klein & Paisley and Dom & Cecily. Last but not least Paloma.

🎧 This book was narrated by Hannah Chiclana and Aaron Donahue who I don’t think I’ve listened to before, but I thoroughly enjoyed their how well their voices worked together, Aaron’s grumpy personality (initially) and Eden’s more fun energy. They matched each other with a level of sincerity that really bought the story together.

🎧 ALC REVIEW: Goode Tidings by Jennifer Millikin

This was my first Jennifer Millikin book, and it won't be my last! I was excited to get this one as an ALC since it takes place in Arizona, which is where I live. I think this may be my first Arizona based book which was fun hearing all the references to the state.

This was a fun, cozy romance with a slower pace that gives the characters plenty of time to settle in. I really enjoyed watching Eden and Callum’s friendship develop into something more.

The forced proximity worked really well here and gave them plenty of time to build their relationship. I also really liked seeing Callum’s personality evolve. The town may see him as the grumpy hermit, but there was definitely more to him than that. And can we talk about how emotionally mature Callum is? Definitely a green-flag MMC, and I loved that for Eden and her son, Oliver.

Hannah Chiclana and Aaron Donahue were both great narrators. They really made this an audiobook I kept wanting to push play on whenever I had the chance!

If you’re looking for a cozy romance with a forced proximity, slow burn energy and a surprisingly emotionally mature grumpy MMC, this was an enjoyable audiobook read!

A cute, funny, feel-good, warm hug of a romance. Forced proximity, small town, single mom, and grumpy/sunshine tropes. Eden and Callum were two people stuck in two very different ruts who were awakened by the other. I thought they both read a little older than they were, like two old souls. I loved the maturity, communication, and transparency. We love a man who doesn’t play games. His response to Eden asking how often he works out was hot hot HOT; though it seemed a little out of character, it had me standing at attention! Eden’s no-filter banter led to some humorous moments. It made me smile to see Callum’s evolution out of Sad Hermit Man, though Hermie Lovelorn was my favorite nickname, and it still makes me laugh to think about it. The Justin of it all made things interesting, even though he drove me crazy. I enjoyed Oliver’s relationship with Eden as well as the one that developed with Callum. Having read the other books in the series, it was nice to see the other characters again (Klein was one of my favorite male leads of all time when I read Here for the Cake). This was a heartwarming read all around, complete in the details with the toffee coffee, toasty fire, and flannel sheets.

I really enjoyed Callum and Eden’s story. This had a little forced proximity since they’re both living on the same property, and I’d say a little bit of a slow burn. You know pretty early on that there’s an attraction between them, but I liked watching their relationship grow and seeing them slowly let each other in.

I also really enjoyed that there was more going on than just the romance. Eden is a single mom raising a teenage son, and I liked seeing that side of her story and some of the struggles that come with watching your child grow up. Callum is dealing with his own struggles after a bad breakup that really affected his confidence, so they both have things they’re working through.

This is my third Jennifer Millikin book, and I really enjoy the way she gives you an actual story to get invested in. I liked Callum and Eden together, but I also liked their individual stories and everything happening around their relationship.

And I really enjoyed the audio. The narration was so good and made me enjoy Callum and Eden’s story even more. It was one of those audiobooks that was just really easy to get wrapped up in and keep listening to.

I’ve loved Jennifer’s stories, and jumped at a chance to read Eden’s story (Klein’s sister).

Eden takes a big leap and moves her son to a small mountainous town in Arizona when her ex-husband offers his cabin for them to live in. They arrive to find the cabin is occupied by Justin’s ex-step brother Callum, who’s been squatting (and renovating the cabin that’s been in disarray).

The story set up brought lots of funny moments, including a towel mishap meet cute, along with tender conversations and growth as Callum and Eden’s friendship deepened along the way. Raising a child is hard, especially as a single parent, and I loved the role Callum played as a role model for Oliver, and a cheerleader and support for Eden.

The story was full of growth in many aspects, but my favorite was Callum and Eden opening their hearts up again. Loved getting to see more of Klein and Paisley, Cecily and Dom, and spunky Paloma.

I loved this book. 💕 Give me a grumpy man who wants everyone to leave him alone and then have one woman show up and completely ruin that plan and I am sold!

Callum and Eden were so much fun together. I loved their banter, the forced proximity, the slow burn, and especially watching Callum go from grumpy hermit to completely gone for this woman. There were so many sweet little moments between them that had me smiling like an idiot.

It was funny and cozy while still having plenty of emotion and depth, and the romance was excellent The yearning! This man is trying desperately to pretend he is not falling in love while he is very obviously falling in love! 😂 Add in him showing up for Oliver over and over was just the cherry on top! And of course I have to mention, no third act breakup! 🙌🏻

The duet narration was phenomenal! Hannah Chiclana and Aaron Donahue were incredible together. Their back and forth banter felt so natural and seamless, and I loved how consistent they were, matching the tone for the scene. It genuinely felt like listening to the characters have a conversation rather than two narrators reading a book!

Get ready for Callum and Eden! I have loved this series and can 100% be read as a standalone.
Eden and her son Oliver take up her ex-husband’s offer and move to Snowflake for the year to his cabin - which is currently occupied by his ex-stepbrother. Their introduction was absolutely hilarious!
Grumpy hermit meets sunshine single mum and although this book is a slow burn their friendship keeps you hooked that I didn’t even realise. Get ready for puppy yoga, smiles and trips into town. Loved how Jen portrayed Eden’s thoughts on being a single mom and how Oliver always came first.
My heart broke for Callum and all he went through, he needed Eden and Oliver more than he realised, wait till he is forced to face his past and Eden is there. The chemistry between them is electric!
It was lovely seeing previous characters from the book (I was worried we wouldn’t seeing as Eden had moved) but god bless Paloma and her banter. This book definately moved me and made me laugh.

Goode Tidings was such a fun read! I listened to the audiobook and also read the ebook, and I really enjoyed both.

I really liked Eden and Callum together. Their meet-cute had me laughing nonstop 😂 and I loved how natural and real their relationship felt. Nothing felt rushed, and even though the burn was slow, it was SO worth it!

Callum was such a grump, but I really liked seeing his softer side come out as the story went on. Eden was such a fun character too, and I loved her personality. Their chemistry, the tension, the banter, and all the little moments between them made their relationship so much fun to read.

🎧 Hannah Chiclana and Aaron Donahue did a great job with the audiobook. I thought they brought Eden and Callum to life really well, and the audio was easy to listen to and follow along with.

Overall, I had such a good time with this book. It was funny, cozy, and just an easy, enjoyable rom-com that kept me smiling. Definitely one I’m glad I picked up!

This story felt like a warm, cozy cup of hot chocolate by the fire.

Callum is a hermit, even the town of Snowflake thinks so. Who can blame him after a betrayal leaves him heartbroken and a bit lost. So lost he ends up at his former stepbrother’s cabin, one of the few places with good childhood memories.

Eden is grappling with the fact that her teenage son Oliver is about to start high school. Her manager is stealing her designs at work. Her childish ex-husband just moved to Thailand to marry a woman he met online. She really just needs to get away for a bit, so when he ex offers up his cabin, how can she say no?

These two!!!! They are so freaking sweet. Callum quietly cares for Eden while she cares for him so damn loudly. The meet-cute is 10/10 and the banter from then on was 1000000/10. And the slow burn? Absolutely worth the wait! This is one of my favorite reads of 2026.

While it would he helpful to read the first two books in the series, this can be read standalone.

Callum is a grumpy hermit who is staying his ex-stepbrother's cabin in Snowflake, Arizona. Eden and her so, Oliver, decide to use her ex-husband's cabin for a year, but only to find Callum staying there. Eden doesn't have the heart toss him out, so he stays in the shed on the property. Eden is very sunshine and has no filter. I like her. Once Callum got out of his head, he became a great hero! Oliver is 14 years old and is becoming embarrassed by his mom, which is also pretty funny. I like the romance, and the chemistry was fantastic! I like the characters and plot. Eden's ex-husband needed to grow up. I love the audiobook! I'm new to listening to Hannah Chiclana and Aaron Donahue, but I would absolutely listen to more of their work! I still maintain that Jennifer Millikin is an underrated author, and Goode Tidings can be read as a standalone!

After a long drive she finds a barely dressed grumpy man in the hot tub.

Callum had unlawfully used the cabin as a retreat from the outside world because of a humiliation by those near to him, while running his Goode Tidings business.

After a funny back and forth Callum realised he needed to leave, even though he had repaired the cabin. Luckily he had an office in the garden.

I loved the banter between Eden and Callum especially as she has no filter. Within these exchanges they start to understand each other and the relationship grows.

When Eden's ex returns things get amusing and when Callum helps their son, past secrets are revealed and the relationship gets validation.

A rather sweet story with lots of sass and humour a definite one to read or listen.

A cute read with a fun story being told. Eden and her son are taking a year break from their current lives. They are moving to a cabin in a small town. When they get to said cabin they are in for a big surprise. Callum is staying in his former step brothers cabin. He has fixed it up and made it his home…even though he wasn’t invited. When these two first meet it’s definitely not love at first sight. But as these two spend time together they slowly learn things about each other…and more importantly..themselves. These two have fun banter and an undeniable connection. Did I mention his former step brother is her ex husband…yep it’s a little complicated. This well layered read was well written and told a heck of a story…a story I really enjoyed.

Give me small-town vibes, forced proximity, tension, banter, and chemistry and I am THERE. I loved watching these two navigate their growing connection.
The slow burn had me waitingggg for these two to finally give in, and a man falling first will get me every single time.

There’s just something about a grumpy man slowly having his walls dismantled that does it for me. Add the small-town setting, forced proximity, and forbidden element and I was SOLD.

This was such a cute, cozy read and I loved listening to it! The cozy cabin atmosphere made it even better… and definitely has me missing my book retreat a little extra this week.

I'm pretty sure I love anything and everything Jennifer writes, and this was no different. Such a fun, witty and great paced romance that balances laugh out loud moments while not shying away from tough topics.

Callum Goode has been "squatting" in the lakeside cabin of his ex-stepbrother, who also happens to be the ex-husband of Eden. She and her son are escaping to the cabin for a year-long adventure. One funny meet-cute, many stolen glances, and a wicked storm later and Callum and Eden can no longer hide their attraction. This was filled with great banter, lots of returning characters, and an MMC and FMC who root for each other and treat each other well throughout. No 3rd act break up, and an ending that had me smiling. Another knock out from Jennifer!

The previous books are Here for the Cake and Hard Feelings.
Callum Goode is a website creator who just moved into a cabin in a rural area. He aims to lick his wounds in quiet and solitude. But his neighbor is set to bring him out of his funk.
Eden is a single mom with a teenage son and to make matters more complicatet they're related, somehow.
An highly entertaining read, wonderfully written with characters I could so so easy connect with. I enjoeyed this gem of a story that checked all my boxes, deserves all the stars.

As an Arizona girly I loved the setting and the characteristics of a desert girl. I related to the excitement of snow and then realizing that I’m ok just looking at it. This was an amazing read! I loved the banter between the characters and then I loved it even more when it turned into shameless flirting and yearning. And oh my, I was just giggling, kicking my feet. I love a book that captures the feelings of a mom (single or not). It makes the characters and the story so much more relatable. And who doesn’t want to fall in love with a sexy lumberjack in the fall? Highly recommend, don’t know what else to say.

This was such a sweet, cozy romance with some great spice. I felt like all of the characters (including Justin) grew so much throughout the story. Callum and Eden were so good together. I loved seeing them both find happiness in each other. I loved that there was no third act break up even though there was an even that maybe could have torn them apart. Their chemistry together was great, the spice was good as always with Jennifer's books.

Justin was really hard to like but I was happy to see him start to make changes for the better for his kid.

The story centers on Eden and Callum. Their relationship goes through various stages before their romance truly ignites. Callum went through so much... and she turned out to be the perfect match for him.
The author’s writing style is warm, tender, delightful, fast-paced, and enchanting.
All in all, it offers a wonderfully cozy atmosphere—the perfect feel-good novel.

Eden, Callum and Oliver were a pleasure to get to know. I loved the banter between the single mom and awkward teenager, it felt natural. The forced proximity played a major role in this, but I missed the actual chemistry. It was as if everyone was saying it was there, you knew it should be there but it wasn’t for me.

Audio narration was extremely will done. I really enjoyed the story from this side.
