Much-loved entertainment legend Des O'Connor has broadcast to millions and performed to packed theatres around the world, but he has never lost touch with the simple joys and woes of everyday life. In this book of comic verse, Des brings his irrepressible humour and mischievous delight to subjects ranging from satnav nightmares to the perils of sorting the recycling; from the recipe for a happy love life to surviving children's parties. Full of gentle wit and whimsical observation, Laughter Lines is guaranteed to keep you chuckling.
The first word that comes to mind with this poetry collection is "twee". It isn't particularly funny but has moments of slight amusement.
It is simplified, very English and definitely resonates with the age of the author. There is an old fashioned feel of love within the poems as well as a slightly grumpiness.
This isn't a bad collection. It isn't great either. It is worthy to pass some time and it did that for me.
An easy read book containing comical poetry from entertainer Des O'Connor with plenty of drawings and anecdotes to fill out the remainder of this short book.
