I haven't had a good night's sleep since my ex convinced everyone I was the problem.
That was a year ago. Now I teach fourth grade, avoid dating apps like the plague, and pretend I'm fine with my life getting smaller and smaller.
Then some random guy texts me at midnight. Wrong number.
I should ignore it. I definitely shouldn't reply. I absolutely shouldn't keep talking to him for weeks, trading voice notes like secrets, falling for a voice I've never seen a face to match.
He's funny. He's kind. He listens like I'm the only person in the world. And he has no idea who I am—which means I can finally be myself again.
We no names, no photos, no expectations. Just two lonely people finding each other in the dark.
Then he walks into my classroom on Valentine's Day.
Turns out the voice I've been falling asleep to belongs to a professional hockey player. One with millions of fans. One who's suddenly looking at me like I'm something he's been searching for.
The problem with falling for someone before you see their face? Eventually, the whole world sees yours too.

Started as 5 stars and then 70% through the conflict was just stupid considering they had just discussed it ad nauseam. Her reaction just didn't make sense. 🤷🏿♀️ Had to edit from 4 to 3. The last 25% of the book ruined a great build up. I wanted to stop and pretend it ended at 70% mark because it was bad and didn't get better. I'm disappointed. It was rehashing the same things over and over, them telling the same stories everytime. A lot of telling not showing.
Holy repetition!!! I couldn’t take it by the end, but the idea was cute and was interesting for a no spice hockey romance. The drama was a bit dumb and the FMC was melodramatic.
This was a cute premise and started strong, but it quickly became repetitive and suffered from continuity issues. I did really like that the conflict for the fmc was internal and she didn’t deal with it by irrationally ending her relationship. There weren’t any ridiculous misunderstandings, and the main characters actually communicated with each other. It made for relatively low stakes, but I appreciated the lack of overwrought melodrama. The author is a decent writer, but if she doesn’t have a professional editor, she should consider hiring one because the errors with continuity were glaring and avoidable.
I know I’m going to read this again, when your feeling lonely plus wondering if you will ever find the one that is truly worthy of you. This story made me feel like anything is possible, yes it’s just a story but all things are possible. Everyone needs that special someone, not no one negative, or abusive, or even psychotic I want that one that unconditionally a do or die love 💕 This story brought all that out of me and it is truly a great romance book, something that you will read over when you can’t find nothing new to read.
This book started good but with 20-30% of the book left, their story just stopped progressing. It just kept telling the same story and referencing earlier conversations on repeat. It stated that they were falling in love, etc. but it was just words. No feeling at all. The love isn’t shown or expressed. Just told. Super repetitive. I had to take a break from reading the same words over and over even with 45 min then 27 min left and so on. Rolling my eyes by the end. At 1 minute left, I sighed at still having 1.5 pages of nothing to read. This book lowkey ended after they met 🤷🏽♀️.
Very innocent but if I’m being honest it was boring asf. After half way I was thinking this could honestly just be wrapped up, but Eli and Normani had a nice epilogue, even if she kept harping on about the same thing throughout the whole book. I wanted to DNF soooo bad but this would’ve been my 4th failed book.
This was an amazingly well-written story about the terrifying highs and lows of falling in love with someone from the inside out. It was swoon-worthy and a delight. I highly recommend it and will be adding this author to my must read list.
This novel brought back memories of being less than I was. It teaches you not to do it alone. I don't be scared to ask for help. And it to love yourself and let someone love you.
Story was well thought out. Had depth and the characters were likable. I will definitely read more from this author if this is the kind of stories I can expect.
I liked the characters, the plot the entire message. Sweet tender interracial romance. An excellent solid read. Would like to read more from this author.
