After a three-century-long love affair that no longer feels right to her, Iro Black is ready to say goodbye to the vampire who turned her. She gave up killing, feeding on humans, and any kind of violence years ago, but Cassia, the woman who made her a vampire, still revels in it all. When Iro moves from Paris to Washington, DC, for her business, she lands in a bar one night, expecting to have a drink and go home alone, but she meets a woman who will change everything.
Arwen Lam only goes out with her best friend because Zara has something important to talk to her about, but before Zara can bring it up, Arwen spots the most beautiful woman she’s ever seen, and when that woman offers to buy her a drink, Arwen simply cannot refuse.
What follows is the story of Iro leaving a life with Cassia behind to begin a journey of love with the woman she was always meant to be with, but Cassia, of course, is not ready to let go. She keeps her eye on Iro’s budding romance with a feeble human before trying to stop it once and for all and finally have her revenge.

"I’ve always had fictional characters trapped inside my head. Now, I’m giving them their voices in my books. I started publishing in November 2017, but out of all the words I’ve ever used to describe myself, writer has been the only constant."
I really enjoyed Pyland’s erotic novel 'Voyeur', so when I heard a spicy sapphic vampire romance was being released, I couldn’t wait to read it! 🧛♀️ And it’s been a while since I’ve read something this messy and wild.
I'm not sure a review can capture how much actually goes on in this novel, but I'll give it a go...
The story centres on Iro, a 300-year-old vampire who is wanting a fresh start away from her partner (and the woman that made her into a vampire), Cassia. What follows is a chaotic, addictive narrative told through four perspectives—less a love triangle and more a sapphic love square.
Iro meets Arwen, a human, in a bar, and her centuries of experience certainly show in her confident flirting. From poetic epithets to reciting verse in intimate moments, Iro is determined to experience love openly in the modern world. Arwen, an earnest environmental lawyer and devoted vegan, is unexpectedly drawn into Iro’s vampiric world—while also navigating her best friend Zara’s unspoken feelings for her.
While reading, I found myself reluctantly charmed by Cassia, despite knowing she was being positioned as the villain. In fact, her chapters were some of my favourites—she’s written with a magnetic, unsettling intensity. She's bold to the point of being unforgettable and gives strong Villanelle energy: undeniably cruel, yet utterly compelling. She’ll do whatever it takes, however toxic, to keep Iro's love.
The novel contrasts the slow-burn romance between Iro and Arwen with the more uninhibited, provocative dynamic of Cassia and Zara. It opens with bold, explicit scenes and continues throughout. The spice is direct, daring, and unrestrained 🔥🌶
With so many twists and turns, it’s a difficult book to put down and it's definitely not light or fluffy. While I might have preferred a slightly different ending, it was still an incredibly entertaining and spicy read 🧛♀️📚
Four perspectives, a fantastic villain with a complete disregard for human life, enough drama for a decade and more spice than a hot indian curry. Origins of Eternity is Pylands first vampire book and proof that she can write it all. Contemporary, sci-fi, fantasy - it works.
The romance is fast, hot and cute. The action is violent.
BUT: at times "Origins of Eternity" is lacking the impact I expected from certain scenes. That's not necessarily bad, but it left me wanting for more, when Pyland decided to finish a topic in 5 sentences instead of whole chapter. Sometimes it felt rushed to the point, that I re-read parts of the chapter, because I thought I skipped important information by accident.
Still a very good vampire book, filled with biting, blood and lust.
I love Nicole Pyland’s books and now she’s added vampires to her catalog and I’m even more excited! Iro and Arwen are meant to be but they have a vengeful and evil ex of Iro to deal with-take a roller coaster ride of love and spice and you won’t be disappointed! 5 🌟 and 5 🌶️
This was a gory fun ride! Lots of blood, sex, and romance in this Sapphic Vamprotica. Cassia’s comeuppance was incredibly satisfying. I know this is a stand alone, but I’m hoping the Queen of Sequels hears the siren song of a series around Iro and Arwen, Vampire Hunters. What do you think?
5 stars. Nicole Pyland wrote a vampire book and it is damn good! Holy shit. This was intense and Cassia is one of the better villains that I’ve read about this year. She had me in the beginning I’m not gonna lie, but that’s only because I like em toxic. She goes beyond that though.
This is told from four point of views: Cassia (the main vampire and antagonist, she’s responsible for turning Iro, Arwen and Zara), Iro (Cassia’s obsession), Arwen (Iro’s human girlfriend), and Zara (Arwen’s best friend) and I liked that. I found all four characters fascinating, even the ones I wanted to throw off of a cliff *cough*CassiaandZara*cough*. All Iro and Arwen wanted was to fall in love and then you got these two asshats in the background plotting against them. It was so good though. Cassia is an enigma. She’s evil through and through but I loved getting to know her, especially her back story of I thought that was really fucking cool. And Zara was so in love with Arwen that she was willing to do whatever to have her if it put her in danger.
And then you have Iro (SWOON) and Arwen and man did I love these two and their romance. It was incredibly sweet and sexy and I loved both characters. The steam in here is a lot right from the very beginning and I loved it. There’s also some intense action moments as again Cassia is unhinged and is an agent of chaos. Great read that had me up all night glued to my kindle.
Not really what i expected going into this book, but I’m certainly not complaining about the trajectory this book took. It was spicy, hot, full of interesting, complex characters, each with their own motivations and aspirations. The pace was really good and unpredictable especially after it hit a certain point in the book about half way through. You truly don’t expect the twists and turns this book ends up taking. A really good read and I enjoyed the last chapter where the author shows us a small journey that vampires have to go through when the fight is said and done.
I quite enjoyed this book. This book has 4 different POVs so you are able to see all main characters sides & reasonings behind their actions which is very nice. The 4 povs are Iro, Cassia, Arwen, and Zara. Iro and Cassia are both vampires, Cassia was the one to turn Iro and have been in an on & off again relationship since the turning. Arwen and Zara are human besties who run into Iro at a bar in DC. Cassia follows Iro and now they are all in DC, where the story takes place. It was overall a very cute quick romance book with some casual vampire stalking and death.
After three hundred years Iro just wanted to live her life as a vampire in peace. Cassia was very vindictive she wanted things her way and only her way. Arwen just wants peace and happiness in the world. Sara her best friend is in love with her but can't tell her. We follow these four characters and see that POV through out this book its a good read with twist and turns you didn't think that where coming. Add in a few more vampires and things things get a little bit crazy. A great read and Nicole did a great job writing her first vampire book
I will read anything Nicole Pyland puts out and was definitely intrigued when she release a vampire romance! She did not disappoint and I thoroughly enjoyed this. It was my first book with more than 2 POVs which took some getting used to but it was excellently done. I found myself wishing this book was like 50 pages longer. I felt like the ending was wrapped up very quickly but it was still a very good book!
