A dead artist. A painting that shouldn't exist. And a killer who knows her darkest secrets.
Book 1 in The Mirror's Edge Series—a pulse-pounding psychological thriller you won't be able to put down.
The painting was of my childhood home. Every detail perfect—the cracked attic window, the old swing on the porch, my mother's roses flanking the front steps.
The artist had never been to Millhaven. He had no connection to my family. And he was murdered the night he finished it.
My name is Dr. Elise Harper. I'm a forensic psychologist who specializes in understanding the minds of killers. For fifteen years, I've built a career far from the town where my mother vanished. I thought I'd buried that part of my life.
Then the detective called. A body in Millhaven. A painting that shouldn't exist. And my name, written in blood on the back of the canvas.
The messages started the day I arrived. Anonymous. Untraceable.
I remember what you forgot.
Someone knows what happened the night my mother disappeared. Someone who's been waiting twenty years for me to come home.
I've spent my career getting inside the heads of monsters. But this killer is already inside mine. And the closer I get to the truth, the less I trust my own memories.
The First Reflection is Book 1 in The Mirror's Edge Series. Perfect for readers who love Frieda McFadden, Gone Girl, and The Silent Patient.
So I think I may have just read my first AI book. First of all wouldn’t even classify this as a psychological thriller. Way more sci-fi than I would like or maybe if there was any inclination that it was a sci-fi book I would have been better prepared. So many inconsistencies in this book. Location are all over the place, they drove two hours went to a bank, her apartment is two blocks away then 50 pages later it’s in the small town. They were at the house and then in two paragraphs driving back??? When did they leave?? So many Chen’s but no relation, you couldn’t come up with another name. First no one knows what’s going on then everyone is involved with it and has secrets to tell. Oh the of course someone calls right before the final showdown (don’t know how they got a secure number) to give the final information and puzzle piece. Where did this person come from, I don’t know? You think it’s all wrapped up and then no there is still 20% more of the book with 37 other plot points and conflicts.
This book brought the excitement with twists and turns. Dr. Elise Harper is brought in to investigate a murder in her hometown 17 years after leaving. The case opens old wounds and memories. She is thrown in a fight against a secret government dark project that is connected to her family. This was a sci-fi thriller than kept me engaged. The plot takes turns you do not see coming.
