Fate so Cruelly Bound. Cruel is the perfect word for that ending. I’m torn apart.

We pick up pretty much where we left off, with Elara in Tír na nÓg alongside Reynnar, while Ivan remains in Latheria. Even separated by realms, they’re all fighting for the same thing, to defeat Oisín.

I remember finishing Blood so Deadly Divine and not comprehending how we were supposed to love anyone more than Ivan. But now… I think I’m Team Reynnar. Mostly. He had me completely swooning. I loved how he constantly reminded Elara that she had a choice and was always in control. I kept waiting for their moment as the tension kept building, and when it finally happened, I was kicking my feet… only for it to be interrupted.

Sweet Ivan. I still love him, but I don’t love how often he makes decisions for Elara because he thinks he’s protecting her. I was so glad Elara finally called him out on it.

The found family on both sides of the realms was everything. Everyone’s banter was so good. I had missed Tristan and Sybil. I loved watching Caelion and Elara’s quiet friendship grow, and Aoife basically accepting Elara as a sister.

I have absolutely no idea where this series is going next. Absolutely none. There are still so many questions left unanswered. Stupid Áine and Oisín. And poor Elara… this girl has been through so much. I thought she was finally figuring out who she is, and I guess in a way she found out. That ending rocked me. I was frantically trying to turn to the next page of my eARC, thinking, there’s no way this is how it ends.

Thank you so much to J.M. Grosvalet for the opportunity to read an advanced copy. I’m so desperate for book three. All thoughts are my own.

“In a world that had taught her nothing lasted but cold, he was warmth.”

“Bond or none, I would have you. In a single breath, I would have you. Your mouth, your body, your trust. The right to keep choosing you, and to be chosen in return. If you came to me freely, I would take that gift and hold it like the most sacred thing I had ever been given.”

Thank you to the Nerd Fam for gifting me this ARC.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 4/5 Stars

Fate So Cruelly Bound picks up right where book one left off, throwing us straight back into Elara’s journey.

I loved seeing Elara’s character growth throughout this book. She becomes stronger, more confident, and continues to fight for what she believes in as the battle against Oisin rages on. Her development was definitely one of the highlights for me.

I’m still completely torn between Team Ivan and Team Reynnar. Both have their strengths and flaws when it comes to supporting Elara, which makes it impossible to choose a side! I can’t wait to see how that relationship dynamic continues to unfold.

The found family aspect was absolutely beautiful and added so much heart to the story. Those relationships were some of my favourite moments.

That ending, though… absolutely heartbreaking for Elara. The final chapter left me with so many questions, and I desperately need the next book to explain what happened. I can’t wait to see where the story goes next.

That ending had me throwing my kindle across the room 😭🤬

Wow what a rollercoaster this book was. The immersive world, the plot, all the physics, everything was too good!! I learned more physics from this book than I did in school lol. The magic system was very unique and intriguing. There were a few parts where I think it was slow and didn’t really care about the information.

I loved how Elara grew to become the confident person she is to fight for everyone without thinking about herself. I mean I can’t choose between Ivan and Reynnar, so how is Elara supposed to choose between the two incredible men that have been by her side!! The slow burn and the tension between all of them was exquisite!

I loved all the side characters (Eamon can go rot in hell) and the found family aspect of the story was very wholesome!

I cannot wait to see how everything unfolds in the next book and I need it ASAP!!!

Thank you The Nerd Fam and J.M. Grosvalet for giving me the opportunity to read this ARC!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I genuinely don't know how I'm supposed to continue living my life after this book.

Fate So Cruelly Bound took everything I loved about Blood So Deadly Divine and somehow made it bigger, messier, more heartbreaking, and more addictive. The emotional damage this book inflicted on me should qualify as a personal injury claim. I swear one minute I was swooning and the next I was fighting for my gd life.

The love triangle is, in fact, triangling. I was rooting for everyone and suffering because of it. The ending left me feral with the need to scream into a pillow. Another insane cliffhanger from Grosvalet. How am I supposed to wait for the next book????

If you love dark fantasy romance with aching tension, high stakes, emotional devastation, and characters you'll become way too attached to, read this immediately!!!

My only complaint is that it's over.

This series surprised me pleasantly. I didn’t expect to enjoy it as much as I am. The love triangle alone is keeping me hooked to this series. I’m dying to know who she ends up picking. I definitely have my favorite (hint, he doesn’t try to control her).

The plot itself is so good too, but it’s really the romance that is keeping me attached to this story.

I will say, this one is super long. I actually paused it twice to read other books in between because I found my attention waning. I don’t think it would’ve been better if it were broken into two because that would’ve resulted in a less superior book. But it does require a lot of time and mental energy to stay connected to such a long story sometimes.

Overall, I’m glad I gave this series a chance!

Thank you to JM Grosvalet for an arc of this book. All opinions are my own.

"His thoughts went further back. To the capital. To hear that wasn't from Draoth - the fire he had set himself, the one that had devoured half his family's trade house down to the foundations. Sybil's screams still echoed in his memory".

Elara is not a frightened little girl anymore, she has crossed realms! I love that we see her character growth though my goodness does she need awakened to what is right before her. I was invested throughout and found it quite fun seeing interspersed Irish words throughout, some of which made me giggle because I'm used to hearing them as names like 'Turlaith'.

Overall, this was a fun read and as usual the high stakes tension synonymous with Grosvalet's writing fuelled the story.

All I can say is thank you thank you thank you for the ARC! I will eventually have more coherent thoughts but for now… This story was so beautiful and only built the scope of the world and plot so much further.

This book also continued to solidify my love for Reynnar… are you kidding me.. the amount of things I highlighted that came out of that mans mouth is unseemly. I would like to shake Elara to get it together and realize what is right in front of her!! I’m hoping after that DIABOLICAL ending she will find her way.

I’m scared, I’m intrigued, and everyone needs to read this series.

Fate so Cruelly Bound by J.M. Grosvalet definitely delivered and also ruined me…

The character growth alone with Elara is worth its weight in gold in this book! The love triangle — I cannot 🫠 ah!

So many swoon worthy moments but also so many moments where I wanted to just throw my kindle across the room 😅

If you loved the emotional devastation in book 1 - Blood so Deadly Divine - you’ll be chomping at the bit to read this one!

Wow. Okay, I love this series. The world the author has created is amazing and has so much depth. The characters grow and you can’t help but fall in love with them, to the point where you don’t know who to root for. I will say I think the book could have been shorter and had just as much depth! It’s not a light read!
