Thank you Lindsay for an early read of this - I’m now emotionally ruined, thanks!
If you haven’t read Ravenminder DO NOT READ THIS. Go back read Ravenminder then jump into the novellas.
Reading Eagle Minder after Ravenminder felt like being handed the sharpest knife… and then being asked to admire the craftsmanship while it twists 🫠 I was not ready!
I went into this firmly Team Arawn and let me be clear, I still am - but this novella made it impossible not to ache painfully for our broken and damaged Kinlear.
This is a story about living in the shadows of someone brighter. About being the spare. The afterthought. The boy who was always told, in ways subtle and brutal, that he was born to die before he ever truly got to live. Kinlear’s internal struggles, his illness, his fear, his intelligence, his resentment, and his desperate hunger to matter was so sad and raw in a way that felt uncomfortably intimate.
“He was a prisoner to his own mind. He was a prisoner to his own body, too.”
What struck me most is how self-aware this novella is. Kinlear knows he’s flawed. He knows he’s jealous, a liar, reckless, manipulative at times, and capable of cruelty. And yet… you see exactly how he got there. Every penance mark, every choice made “for his own good,” every moment of being protected right into powerlessness feeds the monster in his mind. Watching that monster slowly stop being just a metaphor is nothing short of chilling.
The tragedy here isn’t just that Kinlear wants what Arawn has - it’s that he wants to be chosen. To be seen as worthy of love, of destiny, of life itself. And when he finally reaches for that future, it’s already tangled in fate, obsession, and inevitability.
“That was Kinlear Laroux’s biggest fear: that he would die… before he truly got to live.”
Arawn is still the brother I lean towards and the better Prince IMO - don’t come at me 👀 but this novella made one thing painfully clear: Kinlear was never given a fair chance to be anything else.
This was beautifully written, emotionally heavy, and absolutely essential if you want to understand the fractures beneath the Ravenminder story. Not a redemption arc but a devastating explanation.
And honestly? That somehow hurts more! And yes Lindsay you were right one Prince would break my heart and Kinlear did 💔
Read Ravenminder first. releasing Dec 30th. thank you author Lindsay Cummings for the opportunity to read this early!
Ravenminder left us on a huge cliff hanger, so I could not wait to get my hands on this one for a behind the scenes look from Kinlear's POV. I am team Kinlear, so getting to know more of his story was a dream come true! the way my eyes devoured those last 3 chapters should be illegal. you are going to need this as soon as it releases... and don't miss that swoon worthy cover !!
5 star, all the vibes, chefs kiss... immediately diving into Firemage next!
4.25 stars, OK YUP—I’m officially so invested in this series now. I’m genuinely glad Lindsay wrote these novellas because they add so much depth and insight into the characters. When I first read Ravenminder, I wasn’t particularly attached to either MMC, but after reading both of their novellas… I honestly don’t know which brother to choose?! (OK, maybe I do hehe). I’m beyond excited to see where Lindsay takes this story next!
Getting to step into Kinlear’s mind completely changed how I see him after Ravenminder. This novella adds a tragic, fated weight to his character, especially as we see how long he’s been haunted and how isolating his childhood really was.
The sibling dynamics between Kinlear and Arawn were a huge highlight for me, there’s so much love, resentment and loyalty wrapped up in their relationship.
I’m still Team Arawn 😝 but I'd pick Kinlear to be on my team any day.
Overall, a fantastic companion to Ravenminder! I’m already hungry for whatever comes next.
This is the book I didn’t know I needed to read but boy am I glad I did!
Oh Kinny 💔 The way you captured his poor tortured heart was perfection, Lindsay! All of the stars 🌟 I haven’t felt this emotionally invested in a spare prince ever!
It was incredible to relive all of the memories between Ezer and Kinlear through his eyes, and it gives the reader this incredible perspective into the way Kinlear acted and things he said. Yes he’s impossibly selfish but it’s endearing and it’s the way he’s been ignored and treated differently that had led his heart to harden and driven him to constantly rattle his chains and rebel, despite the penance that he will pay. He knows if he doesn’t live now, he may not get many more chances.
But he only had today. Only this moment, so he dared. “For her,” he said softly. “For…me.”
The way Lindsay captures Kinlear’s struggle with his illness is amazing. I felt his struggles like they were my own and I love that he was clever and strong willed despite everything that happened in his life.
I loved the insights into Kinny’s magic and how it caused him to live a half life. Always one step in the future because that was where Ezer had captured his heart.
Eagle Minder will make you fall more in love with Kinlear, because he’s not just an afterthought, he’s a true contender and I know there is so much more of his story to come!
I thoroughly recommend reading this book straight after Ravenminder. Reading Kinny’s POV was so perfect and I loved this novella so much 🫶🏼
Thank you Lindsay for the chance to read this eARC and this is my honest opinion.
Ravenminder was already one of my favourite books of 2025, and this novella just absolutely confirmed that we are getting something really special with this series!! I adored getting Kinlear's POV - it gives such a good insight to the story. We get some prequel chapters, and some chapters that align with the story of Ravenminder and everyone of them was beautifully written.
Getting some insight into Kinlear's childhood really helped to understand him, and especially understand his relationship with Arwen. I also loved seeing some of the scenes from Ravenminder in his POV - the yearning was everything!! Getting to see Ezer through another's eyes was fantastic too, because it shows that the self-doubt etc., she experiences are completely unjustified and the opposite of how others see her.
This book touches on some hard themes including loss and grief, but the one that really got me was seeing the impact of Kinlear's chronic illness. I've never read a book that so accurately describes the emotional impact of physical pain, and it was heartbreaking.
The additional worldbuilding tidbits we got were also really fun and have left me with so many more questions for book 2! Overall this was a fantastic companion novella, and I am already having a great time with Firemage too!! I had a copy of the ebook gifted to me by the author, but all thoughts are my own.
Eagleminder was exactly the kind of emotional, character-rich return to this world I didn’t know I needed! A deliciously introspective follow-up that finally lets us step inside Kinlear’s head, which, it turns out, is a surprisingly chaotic and tender place to be.
It isn’t just a retread of Ravenminder; it offers a deeper understanding of a character who was already compelling, and peels back the layers behind his choices, pain, and protective instincts until everything makes so much more sense once you’re in his shoes.
And somehow, amid all that weight, his awkward internal monologues still managed to make me laugh, which only made the vulnerable moments hit harder.
🫶What I loved:
🦅 Kinlear’s POV I loved discovering how infatuated he really is with Ezer. He’s cute, awkward, and sometimes painfully shy in his thoughts, and those spirals of insecurity make him feel so real.
⚔️ Inner and outer demons Learning more about his broken past, the battles he’s fought both inside and out, and the scars he carries added so much depth. We see how hard he’s fighting, not just emotionally but physically, pushing against the limitations of his illness, the disabilities it leaves him with, and the constant shadow of knowing he’s slowly dying in front of everyone.
"Sometimes, I feel like I was born in the shadows. Like the world is out there, so godsdamned close I can see it, taste it, and it is beautiful beyond belief. But no matter how hard I try to get there... it moves on past me, always just beyond my reach."
💔 Soraya His history with her isn’t just drama; it provides emotional context that reshapes how you see him, his past, and his relationship with Arawn.
"It's what we choose to do with our time in the shadows, and who we spend it with, that brings us one step closer to the light of day. Life is short, and we're not promised tomorrow, so why should we have to wait for the sun to shine before we get our chance to live? If you’re a shadow, then I'm a shadow, and I wouldn't have it any other way. So, dance with me Kinlear Laroux. Dance in the darkness with me."
📚 Re-framing Ravenminder There’s more to the events at the end than we first realised. With the layers revealed here, it’s impossible to judge his decisions as simply “right” or “wrong” anymore.
Eagleminder took a character I already liked and turned him into someone I deeply understand and root for. It’s emotional, illuminating, and adds real meaning to the series - the kind of companion story that actually matters. I closed the book more attached to Kinlear than ever and even more invested in where this world goes next.
🔥Confession: I usually pick my love-triangle favorite within about three chapters and never look back, but here I keep bouncing between Team Kinlear and Team Arawn like a very confused, emotionally invested ping-pong ball. Apparently character depth is my weakness!
I was so very fortune to receive an eARC from the author and this novella blew me away! Kinlear’s POV completely changed my perspective of him and his tragic story. Seeing just how much he suffered through because of his illness and his dreams reshaped his place in this world the author created. One my favorite quotes was “He screamed his defiance to the dark, until the desperation became fury. Until he felt like a wild animal howling into the abyss. He screamed until his soul felt ragged, as he begged for someone, anyone, to hear him.” I cannot wait to see what’s next in this series!!
I find Kinlear utterly self absorbed and entitled.
There are things I give his character a big pass for like of course he’s dying and sick and weak and in the shadow of his golden brother and of course that would make somebody miserable and jealous too. But ughhh I can’t stand his entitlement to Ezer
I was so fortunate to have been able to read this novella early. I loved getting to see into Kinlear’s POV. It was heartbreaking, eye opening, and beautiful. The yearning twisted my heart into knots. I wanted to cry. I haven’t finished Fire Mage yet so we’ll see if I’m an Arawn girl or a Kinlear girl when I’m done. This definitely gave me a lot to consider and my soft spot for Kinlear has grown.
A novel set in Ravenminder’s world from the POV of Kinlear. OH MY GOSH. This was seriously so heartbreaking! Like why why why!!!!! Augh it really does explain some things though from Ravenminder but now I am like I need to read Ravenminder again. Gosh, my heart hurts for Kinlear.
This did not endear me to Kinleaer. At all. But the story from his POV?! Yes please. I loved it. Is he awful IMO?….yes. But he’s such a well thought out character and I love his development and where the author has taken us with his journey.
I was super lucky to get the e-ARC from the author during one of her giveaways on Facebook. I read this in one sitting! I loved getting Kinlear's POV. I really feel for him! We get to see the isolation he felt when he was a child. How he felt about Ezer. Can't wait to start Arawn's POV next!
Writing novellas from each male’s POV is so creative in a love triangle! I loved the background and getting to know Kinlear deeper. I’m still team Arawn!
[ARC review] 4.5 stars! This novella adds so much to Kinlear's character and the story as a whole. A worthy & can't-miss addition to the Ravenminder series which changed my perspective on everyone after that crazy cliffhanger!
ARC review 5 ⭐️ I loved Kinlear in Ravenminder and now I love him even more. I don’t know what side you want us all switching to, Lindsay, but now I’m scared to read Firemage 😂
While i understand Kinlear more now, i like his character less. From Ravenminder there was a lot i didn’t get from his character but i liked him enough. Now i feel like he’s a selfish entitled guy who uses his sickness as an excuse for everything. He had Soraya and was desperate for Ezer, then seeing Soraya with Arawn made him angry and jealous while he was literally pining for Ezer someone who didnt exist in his life yet. He wanted Soraya & Ezer even though he wasn’t willing to give Soraya all his love because he loved Ezer more. The only thing i get is that he chose Ezer to live rather than die, although he should have told her & warner her.
From a writing perspective i didn’t love it as much as Ravenminder and there were still a few editing error, words missing letters, or sentences that didn’t fully make sense.

"He was destined for nothing but the grave." In this novel-length companion to Ravenminder, we step into the tortured mind of Prince Kinlear Laroux. Split between his past, haunted by dream monsters and living in his twin’s shadow, and the present mission to guide Ezer, this story reveals the heartbreaking truth behind his choices. • Male POV / Companion Novel • The "Spare" Heir • Hidden Demons • Parallel Timeline • Emotional Damage ***
First off – make sure you have read Ravenminder BEFORE you go anywhere near the brother's books. They are follow-ons with huge spoilers.
I’m not sure I had any idea what to expect from this story. I am firmly a Kinlear girl - I know I know! That ending to Ravenminder broke my heart and head more than a little bit. But I’m still loyal to my team.
So, obviously, I’ve been chomping at the bit to get more of my favourite prince. And this instalment did not disappoint.
Kinlear’s story is tough and emotional, it delves into his pain and illness – not only in his physical and waking self. But so, so much more. I really felt the truth behind Lindsay’s writing in how she wrote Kinlear’s experience of his health, her “dear reader” introduction was powerful and honest. I have to say thank you for that, I felt seen and represented in this story in a way I don’t often experience.
I’m trying to keep this review spoiler free and it’s so hard!
I did not expect this magic from him and honestly, it’s all the more heartbreaking and frustrating seeing him discover and explore that part of himself. It links so well with Ravenminder and I found myself trying to remember specifics of Ezer’s experience to see it through both of their eyes at once.
This book was challenging in all the best ways, it broke your heart whilst also showing the characters in the realest sense. They hurt and hope, they try their best and often completely mess up. They are so relatable despite the fantastical setting, you can’t help but wish and dream for them, and inevitably shout at them for being numpties.
It was delicious to see Kinlear’s yearning and love for Ezer, and even Six. The complex relationship with his brother and Soraya will tug at every heart string. I’m not going to lie I did worry that these books might not live up to my experience of Ravenminder - I’m so glad that this one absolutely has. Arawn, it’s your turn to see if you can convert me now!
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ - Dark and emotional, but human in the best ways.
STOPPPPPP, if you haven’t read RAVENMINDER go read that first then dive into the novellas as they’re full of spoilers!
The way this made me want to crawl into the pages just to hug Kinlear and tell him he mattered. 😭😭😭
“He was Kinlear Laroux. He was destined for nothing but the grave.” Excuse me??? Jail. Straight to jail. Because that line alone shattered my soul!! Living in the shadow of a twin destined for greatness, fighting to prove his worth in a kingdom that already decided his fate. Every ounce of his self doubt, fear, and quiet desperation hurt but damn if he doesn’t do his best because he just wants to be chosen, to matter and to be loved🥹 And the monster hunting him in his dreams? Was the biggest twist I didn’t see coming!
This story is heartbreakingly emotional, touching on grief, loss, and what it truly means to be “the spare.” To grow up knowing you were never the first choice, never the one meant to shine, only the one meant to exist if something goes wrong. The way it explores that quiet, crushing kind of pain? It destroyed me yall🥹
And Lindsay did such an incredible job portraying Kinlear’s chronic illness. The way it’s woven into his daily life, his fears, his limitations, and even his self worth felt so real and so raw. It wasn’t just a detail, it was part of who he is, and the representation was handled with so much care and depth!
Going into this, I genuinely wasn’t sure which prince I was rooting for… but Kinlear’s story? his past, his pain, and every single decision he makes leading up to the end? That might’ve sealed the deal for me. Because at the end of RAVENMINDER, I absolutely despised him 🥹 but seeing those events through his eyes felt like all the puzzle pieces finally snapping into place. His sacrifices, his bond with Ezer, and the weight he carries in silence? I’m sure how I’ll recover and I hope he gets some kind of happy ending!!
Lindsay wasn’t joking when she said one prince was going to break your heart, because damn did kinlears crack mine wide open🥹♥️
Eagleminder is the second POV novella (to be read AFTER Ravenminder and alongside Firemage) by Lindsay Cummings
This novella runs through the events in Ravenminder to give us more insight to why Kinlear did what he did AND it really lets his emotions come through!
If you love morally grey men WITH a strong reason for being so, Kinlear is your man! And he questions himself too, it’s like he doesn’t want to be this way but, with so many people letting him down including his God he feels like is forced into a corner with no other choice.
After reflecting upon his twin Arawn’s experience in Firemage it is easy to be virtuous when everything is going your way, unlike Kinlear. Who doesn’t have the physique or energy like Arawn does to woo girls off their feet. 😂
There was exploration of Kinlear’s haunting dreams like we haven’t seen before which was another great way to understand him!
If your heart isn’t bleeding for Kinlear, idk what will! 💔😭
Thank you to Lindsay Cummings for this ARC (which is out now)! 🐦⬛Excited for Ravenminder 2 and to see the rest of this story unfold.
Favourite Quotes
‘Easier to blame on someone else, to hate them for it…when the person most at fault was him.’ ‘He smiled as he noted he was devilishly handsome, even with his vial and cane’ ‘For kisses, he’s always pay penance’ ‘Would his soft edges harden, honed like a weapon, until he had no heart left?’ ‘But he knew better than most that to try and to do were two very different things.’ ‘If it weren’t for the saddle, he’d have tumbled to the Thornweel forest below.’ -> reminds me of Violet from Fourth Wing a little! ‘He wasn’t good at these things. At feelings and understanding, because for so much of his life…he’d simply been numb.’ ‘And that was Kinlear Laroux’s biggest fear: That he would die…before he truly got to live.’
“You are dead, Little Prince… until you decide to live.”
I went into this fully Team Arawn, confident in my loyalties and expecting nothing more than added context. Instead, Kinlear’s POV quietly and completely unraveled me. Being inside his head is an intimate, aching experience -- one shaped by illness, isolation, devotion, defiance, and a lifetime of being told who he’s allowed to be. Every fear, every sharp edge, every quiet act of rebellion suddenly makes devastating sense.
Kinlear’s internal world is so vividly rendered that it feels less like reading and more like inhabiting him. His relationship with pain (physical, emotional, and spiritual) is written with such care and reverence. Watching the pieces of his past fall into place reframes so many moments from Ravenminder, and I found myself wanting to immediately reread it with this new understanding humming beneath every scene.
What struck me most is how this novella refuses to ask you to choose. It doesn’t diminish Arawn... instead, it expands the story’s emotional gravity by showing what it means to live in someone else’s shadow, to love fiercely while believing you are inherently breakable. My heart didn’t switch sides -- it simply grew larger.
I’m starting Firemage next, eager to return to Arawn’s perspective… but part of me is still here, lingering with Kinlear, sitting with the weight of what he’s endured and the quiet strength it took to survive it.
This isn’t just a companion novella - it’s essential. Painful, tender, and transformative in the BEST way.
Kudos to you, Lindsay. I am not a person who is easily rendered speechless, but your books have left me feeling that way twice now. I cannot recommend this series enough. Thank you for the opportunity to read Kinlear's POV early! xoxo
I’ve been Team Kinlear from the very beginning. He’s always needed the biggest hug, the most understanding and the most grace.
His childhood is heartbreaking. His chronic illness makes survival a struggle, and being treated as an unwanted “spare” by his parents lit a quiet rage in my soul.
Eagleminder, Firemage, and Ravenminder all prove that Lindsay Cummings is a master of emotional turmoil. It’s a rollercoaster I’ll gladly ride again.
Eagleminder follows Kinlear, the sickly spare prince, shunned for both his illness and his repeated defiance of his world’s oppressive religious laws. I adore his rebellious streak, his intelligence, his determination—and his shy sweetness with Ezer is incredibly compelling. But his story is devastating: living in the shadow of his stronger twin, dismissed by his parents, and forced to atone for simply being himself.
And yet, he endures. He finds inner strength, dangerous magic, and a path forward with the help of Ezer and her Raphon, Six.
This book deepened my empathy for Kinlear and made me love him even more. It also left my heart aching over the growing fracture between him and Arawn.
Kinlear remains one of the most compelling, heartbreaking characters I’ve read, and his journey isn’t finished yet.
I was fortunate to receive an advanced copy of Ravenminder, and discovered an utterly surprising, unique and addictive story. The moment the two novellas (Eagleminder & Firemage) were announced, I knew I needed them.
Please note: You definitely need to read Ravenminder before embarking on this journey. You will not understand it otherwise. Please note also, that the world Kinlear and Arawn are raised in worship as a "religion" that embraces penance (physical harm, off page), and strict religious beliefs. Beliefs that ultimately force magic Wielders to use their magic until they die from it.
I went into Eagleminder believing I already knew who you were and believing that my opinion would never change. I was wrong. Completely wrong. 💔
This book didn’t just shift my perspective; it shattered it. Being inside Kinlear’s mind is devastating in the quietest way. You feel his loneliness, his isolation, and the ache of growing up always seen as the spare, the forgotten one, forever standing in the shadow of a brother the world deemed perfect. 👑
There is something deeply painful about realizing how trapped he has always felt, as if his own body and life were a prison he never asked for. Every page carries the weight of someone who has spent a lifetime being compared, overlooked, and forced to dim himself. The feeling that he’s been “forced to walk in the shadows” lingers long after you close the book. 🖤
What broke me most was the understanding that Kinlear never truly had a choice. His story is not one of simple right or wrong; it’s one shaped by love, sacrifice, and impossible circumstances. When it comes time for him to decide, his actions are rooted in protection and devotion, not malice. 🤍🛡️
I finally understand why so many readers say Eagleminder made them switch from Team Arawn to Team Kinlear. This book doesn’t ask you to excuse him; it asks you to feel him. To understand him. And once you do, there’s no going back. 🖤✨
Lindsay Cummings, thank you for giving us this book. I’m eager to see where book two takes us.
Eagleminder takes the readers of Ravenminder back into the frosty land of Lordach, but this time from the POV of everyone’s favourite tortured prince, Kinlear. The novella covers the events of Ravenminder, as well as diving into key events that happened prior in Kinlear’s life. Going into this as an Arawn girl, Kinlear’s tragic backstory really did pull on my heart strings. The author portrays his ongoing struggle with chronic illness in such heartbreaking depth and really explores the internal battle that he faces daily in order to live with his illness.
Eagleminder did give me a new appreciation for Kinlear as a character and of the trials that he has had to face and overcome throughout his life. The novella also gave a greater backstory to Kinlear and Arawn’s relationship as brothers, the love between them as well as the jealousy that tears them apart.
I am still firmly Team Arawn when it comes to Ezer. Even though I feel Kinlear deserves a happy ending, I did find throughout the novella that he increasingly felt that he has some sort of claim to Ezer (you will need to read to understand why!) which I wasn’t a huge fan of. I think I am still holding out for a happy ending somehow between him and Soraya? One can hope!
Eagleminder is the perfect novella to accompany Ravenminder, giving great depth to the overall story and new snippets of worldbuilding, the story to bridge between Book 1 and 2.
Thank you to the author for the e-copy of Eagleminder. All opinions are my own.
These two 200+ page novellas are the newest additions to the Ravenminder series by the incredible Lindsay Cummings , and they were everything I didn’t know I needed.
🔥 Fire Mage is told from Arawn’s POV. Arawn is a fire mage and eagle-riding warrior, trained from childhood to become the next king. Born mere seconds before his sickly twin, he is labeled the chosen one—and his parents train him ruthlessly, isolating him from his brother and best friend in the name of duty. His story is deeply emotional, showing just how fiercely and wholly he loves from a young age, while constantly battling the impossible tension between his heart and his crown.
🦅 Eagleminder is told from Kinlear’s POV, the second twin—the spare. Chronically ill and raised to believe he has little value to his family or kingdom, Kinlear lives untethered, earning a bad-boy reputation because he has less to lose while time feels borrowed. As he grows, he begins experiencing visions of the future and slowly realizes his purpose may be far greater than anyone ever imagined.
Both twins wrestle with identity, duty, purpose, and belonging-and both fall for the same girl… twice. Their journeys are heartbreaking in the most beautiful, meaningful way.
These novellas were the perfect addition to the series and exactly what my heart needed after the Ravenminder cliffhanger. Emotional, layered, and utterly unforgettable. 💔✨
This was such a good companion novella to the novel Ravenminder. In this book, we get a POV from one of the princes, Kinlear, and let me just say, I don’t like him. When I was reading the first book, I had a little sympathy and compassion for him and what he is going through. After reading about his backstory and all the events leading up, I’ve come to realize I don’t like him anymore. Once he discovered his “gift”, he solely focused on the path forward based off of his gift. And because of this he become so self centered and self focused on how it was going to impact him, and he overlooked those around him. He was so focused on himself that he didn’t see what was going on/ happening with his first love. And that annoyed me so much! 😤 Like I have a little sympathy for him, but not a whole lot any more. Anywho, I think the book was written decently well, and follows the same style as book one. I kinda wished we could have seen more from his dreams and the discoveries he made there, but I guess that leads to the mystery that this little prince is. Overall the book reads well, but since it is a novella spanning a full life, the time jumps quite frequently along with time spans, so just keep that in mind. But besides that, I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who loved Ravenminder. ☺️
I’m so grateful to the author for giving us the chance to step inside both MMCs’ minds and experience their pasts, their present, and even glimpses of their future. These novellas explain so much and fill in so many gaps.
I’ve finished Eagleminder and I’m halfway through Firemage - it’s still too early to talk about Arawn’s story, but I understand Kinleer on a completely different level now.
And oh my - the heartache I felt throughout Kinleer’s POV is unreal. He was the second born twin, the spare, constantly being told he was born to die…there were moments I literally yelled at the book because of the sheer unfairness of it all. The pain feels raw and deeply relatable - trapped in a weak body and chased by the monster in his mind, all he wanted was to matter, to be seen, to be loved, to be free.
“He was born as an echo, an afterthought, the dying side to his brother’s living light.”
This story doesn’t just add layers to Ravenminder - it breaks your heart open and asks you to sit with it. If you thought you understood Kinleer before, Eagleminder will prove you didn’t. These novellas shifted my perspective in ways I didn’t expect, and I’m not ready to choose sides just yet… but I am ready for whatever comes next, even if it destroys me emotionally.
Like a starving man faced with a buffet I fell upon this book and devoured every last morsel. Ravenminder has been living rent free in my head since I read it a few months ago, but to now get a Kinlear POV is the icing on the cake. I loved it all - seeing his progression, his thoughts, his feelings, his very world and how it all created the man we have to come to know in Ravenminder, was all done so elegantly as the writing style had me sucked back into that world within a page and the pacing was perfect. It was detailed without being heavy and the back story it gave me is exactly what I needed to understand the tortured soul that is Kinlear.
The story follows Kinlear from his very birth right through childhood, his struggles with his illness, his nightmares, his family and finding his place in the world. He keeps a secret about the future, a future featuring a Raphonminder. Everything he does sets into motion the drawing of her to the castle and to create the vision he has seen. It dives into the relationship between Kinlear and his twin brother Arwan as well as Ezer and Six. It's tense, it's delicious, it's everything we have been craving and more about the enigmatic Kinlear.
