4.5 stars. I loved this book! A wonderful romance between a big, hunky professional football quarterback and a young mother who got pregnant at 16 and has devoted her life to her son since. They meet at a training session for young boys interested in football where the quarterback is a volunteer. It is pretty much lust (or maybe love) at first sight for both of them but she's determined to be a mother first and does everything she can to resist both him and her own body.
Both the main characters are really well drawn, interesting people. Probably the only quibble I would have with the book would I have liked to been privy to a little more of the relationship between quarterback and the son. A lot of references were made to them meeting and talking on the phone but we didn't get to read about most of it.
Oh, and the loves scenes were probably the most sensual and beautiful I've read in a long time.
A great read for a romance lover.

Sizzling hot doesn't begin to describe how sexy this novel is. I need time to cool off. Cole surprised me. So sexy, so romantic, and oh so HOT! How he moved their relationship from friendship to lovers was very smooth. The chemistry between Cole and Juliana is scorching hot. I enjoyed the story, but in all seriousness I could've done without the angst towards the end. Totally ridiculous. I also could've done without the getting married so quickly on the anniversary of when they first met. Twelve weeks to be exact. Still in the end this is one sexy read that'll melt your socks off. You'll fall in love with Cole and Juliana, but it'll be her son Anthony that will touch your heart.
I can't wait to go to bed tonight, and dream of my legs wrapped around a very sexy athlete/actor/model (basically any breathing sexy male specimen) in a swimming pool. Sweet dreams everyone.

I was fortunate enough to get an advanced copy of this book and again a Melanie Shawn did not disappoint. I swear with each book they put out they keep getting better and better.
I started reading this book at 11PM and I couldn't put it down. I had to finish the book, which I did at 3:30th AM. Being sleep deprived was so worth it because this book was so HOT and ROMANTIC. I just love the easy style that Melanie Shawn uses to convey the emotions in the character and the book. Her sense of storytelling is as if I'm literally watching a ROM-COM movie in my head. I would hope that one day they make any of her books into a movie.
I must admit that this is the first book I read in the series and I'm hooked. I need to read the rest of the books to appreciate the story even more. Even though each book can be read as a stand alone.
Cole Carson is a HOT quaterback for a Miami football team. Not only does have incredible talent but he's on top of his game. Who just happens to be a notorious man whore. He has gorgeous looks, body, charm and a dimple that can melt your panties. He's never been a commitment type of guy till he meets sexy single mom Juliana Perez. She's a hard working single mom of a 20 year old boy Anthony. Who has some major trust issue because of her past. Cole and Julianna meet at a football camp for under privileged kids that her son attends. As soon as Cole lays eyes on her he is smitten big time and will do whatever it takes to get her to trust him. Despite Cole's bad boy reputation he is shockingly super sweet and romantic. I loved the easy going relationship that Cole and Juliana devolved once she accepts to be just friends. Thank god that "friendship" status doesn't last long and they take their relationship to the next SCORCHING HOT level. Melanie Shawn wrote some pretty hot scene's that had me fanning myself. Muy Caliente!! I loved how the book ended and the epilogue was icing on the cake.
One of my favorite things that Melanie Shawn does is that she quotes or references Rom-Com movies. Love that! Not only do they have excellent movie choices but music as well. I loved the 90's playlist that Juliana had. I need that playlist in my IPod right now. I swear from now on every time I hear any of those songs I will think about this book. Ok, mainly Cole. The storyline of this book reminded me of how Matt Damon met his wife Luciana. It was a similar situation. She was a single mom working as a bartender at a bar/club and of course he's an actor not a football player. From what they have said it was love at first sight. It can happen and maybe someone can have a Cole and Juliana relationship. Ugh...dies...swooning!
I've come to the realization that I would read anything written by these two ladies. I'm a fan for life! They are top notch writers and have gift for this genre. I highly recommend this book or any book written by them.

Daring Attraction by Melanie Shawn is part of the Dare to Love Series (Kindle Words). In this story we meet single mom Julianna Perez and Miami Thunder quarterback Cole Carson. Cole is best friends with Alex Dare as well as formerly back-up to Alex when he was playing. Cole is also known to be a player with the women. Julianna has survived a more than difficult life. Her mother left her at an aunt’s when Julianna was young. Then at age sixteen, when Julianna was pregnant, her aunt kicked her out and after her son was born the baby’s father, with his parents, legally signed away his parental rights. Alone, people helped direct her to a home for single moms, gain her GED diploma, and finish a degree to be a Medical Assistant. She scraps by living in an apartment that she can barely afford with her salary as a Medical Assistant in a doctor’s office, transcribing medical records at night and occasionally working for a catering company.
Julianna’s son, Anthony, is ten years old and has been awarded an opportunity to attend a Youth Football Training and Camp with the Thunder Players. It is at these training sessions that Cole sees Julianna and falls for her. Cole cleans up his act – no more one-night girls, no more hook-up apartment, and no more party boy. Cole has tunnel vision with Julianna and Anthony being the prizes at the end. Julianna hasn’t dated since her son was born. Despite being pursued by numerous men, she turns them down. Cole asks his mom, who was once also a single mom, what sort of things she wanted or needed when he was growing up. Cole inserts himself into Julianna, and Anthony’s life, not allowing for her to turn him down. He uses the let’s be “friends” card.

I also loved the way Melanie Shawn showed the growth of these two characters. This book is part of Carly Phillips' Dare series. I am a huge fan of this series and a huge fan of Melanie Shawn, so the marrying of these two was phenomenal for me! I loved that Melanie Shawn dialed up the heat on this one a bit, as it is in fitting with the overall series. So, just be warned, this may be a little more intense than some of the writers' previous stories.
This story is about single mom, Julianna, who is used to making her way in the world, as described in the book (so aptly), as captain, first mate, and crew of the ship that is her life with a 10 year old son. Enter Cole Carson, professional football player and general all around player, who is well known for dating new women all the time.
Julianna hasn't dated since her son's father disappeared after his birth, leaving her as a 16 year old to fend for herself. Julianna had spent her entire childhood being abandoned and was determined to make the best life possible for her son.
Cole is drawn to scheduled, responsible, organized, loving Julianna not just because of the chemistry they share but because she's a fantastic mom to her young son. Cole just has to convince Julianna that he can help make her life better and be someone she can share responsibility with.
Ok, I'll admit to some bias here. I am a single parent to a young son and this story struck such a chord with me. I really related to Julianna, in that she was in charge, all the time, and ran things with a great deal of control and precision, because she knew that is what made her life manageable.
I think Julianna was such a relatable character. Cole was a great guy who was willing to make changes to his life, given the opportunity and right person.
I really enjoyed seeing both of these characters grown through the storyline, each having to reconcile themselves to working through their issues in order to find love and happiness.
Once again, Melanie Shawn hit it out of the park on this one. I love this series and this was such a great addition to it!

Alluring, spellbinding, and blazing romance, a true keeper of a story, that you will want to read again and again, to reach that magic of the tale once more.
When Cole and Julianna meet, the attraction is immediate. The connection is strong, and visible even to others around them. Cole has lived his life hard, playing on both in the field and out of it. But when he meets Julianna, everything changes.
Julianna feels the pull, the appeal and charm. But her life has been hard, and taught her not to trust, and she holds off, to protect herself and the life as she knows it.
But Cole has a goal, and it is not just to get Julianna to bed, he wants it all, mind, heart, body, soul, forever - cause "She was his love song". *swoon*
The friendship they form is delightful. Cole's patience and control, to wait for Julianna to be ready for a physical relationship, is endearing. They get to know each other, spent time together, and form a bond beyond the lustful thoughts.
The passion between them, when the time for that arrives, is scorching hot, off the charts and then some. There are fantasies, to-do lists, and curiosity to be fulfilled and boundaries to be crossed. But with the sweet friendship and connection they have formed, and with the feelings they have for each other, the lovemaking is beautiful and spellbinding.
In Melanie Shawn's books you feel like you are reading the story of your best friends, the characters are down to earth, real, charming, and likable. The life of a single mom was realistic, the connection Julianna and Anthony had, is admirable, as well as was the bond between Anthony and Cole. How Cole made the choice to partake in parenting for Anthony, was a moment to cherish, as was the whole conclusion of the story.
I wanted the book to just continue, not because it wasn't satisfactory or I needed more for the story to be complete, I just wanted to stay in the spell of the tale for a bit longer. It was just so... Good. Hah.

What can I say? I'm officially in love with Melanie's writing style and her extremely delicious hero. The way Cole was with Julianna and Anthony just broke my heart. He was absolutely perfect and I am jealous of our heroine. Julianna has had quite a lot to deal with in her short time on this earth. She wasn't given the best end of the deal. She fell for her son at a young age and was left on her own to raise him and provide a life for him as well as herself. Dating and relationships were not on the cards. She had no time for them. Taking care of her son and working three jobs took up all of her time. Until she met Cole.
Cole labeled himself as player, in every sense of the word. There were two things that he excelled at: football and bedding woman. But he wasn't a jerk about it. He didn't come across as arrogant, he was just playing the field. Then one day he locked eyes with Julianna and BAM, he'd found his purpose. Sure, football was his love and passion, but nothing made him feel as alive as he did when he looked at her. And nothing had his heart racing more than when he was in her presence.
Julianna and Anthony changed Cole's life for the better. They showed him that he needed to take responsibility of his life, and he showed them that they could be free to live theirs. There was more out there than just work.
It was honestly an amazing book. Nothing too dramatic and just enough fluff to keep you smiling throughout.

If you haven’t read any of Philips Dare to Love books then you need to go one click those right now! If you are a huge fan of Melanie Shawn you will not be disappointed by this book. It has all of their usual ingredients that mix together to make a beautiful heartwarming book. This story is about a professional football quarterback who is living the high life of fame and fortune with not a care in the world until he meets single mom Julianna Perez and her son Anthony. To say Julianna has had a rough life would be putting it mildly but she has risen above all the negative things in life to provide the kind of life for her son she never had. Definitely 5 stars !! The first word that comes to mind when I think of this book is WOW !! It had to be hands down one of the best books I have ever read. From the first sentence this book drew me in and would not let go. It was romantic, funny, hot and sexy all rolled into one. The characters in this book were incredible. From the main characters Cole and Julianna to Julianna son Anthony, to Cole’s mom Hillary, and Julianna next door neighbour Megan. Each of these characters helped make the book amazing. Anthony, Hillary and Megan all played a role in helping the main characters figure out what we as readers already new. Cole was sexy, hot and a very stubborn. He was also a charming and patient man. Julianna was beautiful, strong and a good mom. She was also infuriating at times but that helped make the book more interesting and to push Cole to step up his game. I loved how you learned about Cole and Julianna’s past because it was what shaped them into who they are in the book. I am not sure what else to say because I would not want to spoil the book for you. I would definitely recommend you pick this one up because it will not disappoint you in the least.

Daring Attraction
I was so excited to see that Daring Attraction was part of the Dare family series by Carly Phillips. I like this trend of many authors contributing a theme or style. It is a very interesting concept and in this case it worked very well.
Although not a Dare family member himself, Cole is part of the team and during an activity organized as part of the outreach program, by the management team, Cole meets Julianna, a single mom of Anthony a very articulate young man.
I was not too fond of Cole at first, the first few paragraphs are clear why, but he grew on me fast. Julianna was a great character from the start and the reader is really drawn to her and her desire to make a great life for her son.
The slow development of Cole and Julianna’s relationship, starting as friends and his focus and pursuit of her was wonderfully developed. Their attraction is unstoppable and hot and his understanding of her fears and reluctance and his willingness to work together to overcome them endeared him so much.
I also really liked the two POv.
Finally having characters from other of Carly’s books pop in to lend a hand and how their storylines were continued and were incorporated was very well done. It is a great book and a lovely addition to the series.

Damn!! Cole.... is.... HOT!!! The quarterback for Miami thunder, is used to having a different woman every night and it works for him.... Until he meets Julianna, a single mum that adores her son and works three jobs to give him everything he needs... She finds it hard to trust, when at 16 the love of her life walks out on her when he finds out she's pregnant, then stomps on her heart.... For that reason, she can't let anyone in to let the past repeat itself..Cole falls head over heels for her but she thinks he's a player and her first and only priority is her son.. Can Cole prove to her that he's the man for her?? The passion between Cole and Julianna,takes your breath away... Yet again Melanie and Shawna have gone and done it again, another amazing book from them... Everytime I think their books can't possibly get any better, they prove me wrong... If you haven't read the rest of their books, what the heck have you been doing???

I always love Melanie Shawn books, but I have to say, this might rank up there is one of my favorites they have ever written!
Single Mom Julianna Perez just thinks she's taking her son Anthony to the Miami Thunder's football camp, but little does she know she's going to meet a man that is going to throw her very well scheduled, list-filled world off kilter.
Cole Carson is the quarterback of the Miami Thunder and his playboy ways are widely known. He's already late and he's only going to help out one week at the football camp. Or he was, until he laid eyes on Julianna.
Will the playboy change his ways and will the single mother who has never had anyone to count on open her heart and mind?
While this may be a novella, Melanie Shawn made you feel like this was a full length novel. The story was so well developed and you could really feel the emotions of each of the characters. Kudos to them for a job very well done!
While this is part of Carly Phillips Kindle Worlds, you would not have had to read any of the Dare books to enjoy this awesome story.

This was a great story! Single mom, working hard to raise her son right. Football star with the rep of a player. Who would have seen him enjoying being around kids for a football day camp? Especially 1 certain kid... her kid! Mmmm this was a super sexy story.
"Are those toes?" From the hilarious opening of the book to the end, it's romantic, sexy and a page turner! Julianna who loves 90's music (who doesn't) and Cole who "should come with a warning label: Too Hot to Handle" are perfect for each other, they just don't realize it! Well, Julianna doesn't realize it.
There's humor. "hornier than a desperate housewife watching Magic Mike." Great Music: "This is How We Do It. Tootsee Roll. Poison." OMG.
This book will leave you smiling and singing Poison by the end! It's a great fit into the Dare To Love Kindle World. You won't regret picking this book up!

I loved reading this story between Julianna and Cole but then I’m partial to reading how a bad boypurestdelightaward falls in love.
Julianna is a single mother who has only relied on herself to raise her son. She has done a great job in this and sacrificed so much for her son. I loved the devotion she showed to her child. She is also willing to set aside her happiness but Cole, Anthony and her friends, won’t let her. I liked her character and strength. She was a strong woman and mother.
Cole wasn’t looking for anything permanent but it was love at first sight when her saw Julianna. I loved watching him change his ways. Going from a player, to a friend, both to Anthony and Julianna, and then more to both.
I appreciated that there wasn’t unnecessary angst or made up drama. I was able to focus on a growing love story.

O.M.G. I'm sitting here with tears rolling down my face, having just finished this totally freakin' awesome book. I've read and loved most of Melanie and Shawna's books, but this TOPS. THEM. ALL. It's sweet, real, charming, clever, and HOLY SHIT sexy. Mercy! And Cole and Julianna - they're absolute perfection in every way.
I chose this as my first Dare to Love Kindle Worlds book to read. The other authors are on my auto-buy list, so I'm familiar with their talent. But Melanie and Shawna have set the bar extremely high.
Kudos to Melanie Shawn for creating such a marvelous, heart warming story and Carly Phillips for inviting them to play in her world.

This is my first read of Melanie Shawn's, and I must say she (they) have found a fan for life. Julianna is a kick butt heroine, who has been a single mom for 10 years. She isn't a "whoa as me" type character. She was dealt a crap hand and she did the best she could. Cole is the hottie football player quarterback, who is tired of his playboy life. The relationship between the two is hot and intense. Loved the secondary characters, including Julianna's son Anthony. I highly recommend this to anyone looking for a hot contemporary read

I absolutely fell in love with Cole in this book. I felel in love with him the first moment he saw Juliana. It was amazing watching him try so hard to win the love of his life even when he may not have been aware himself. I think I fell a little more in love with him as he worked so hard to make sure she was comfortable while also trying to get to the place he wanted them to be.

Cole and Julianna - wow! Her son Anthony was a cute addition to the story. I loved how the Playboy grew up and the single mom faced her fears. The 90's playlist dance party was the perfect touch. This was a nice addition to the Dare to Love world.

Sweet and fun read
I must admit I was a bit nervous about Cole in the first chapter but I was loving him quickly after that. I loved seeing the real life issues and fears a single mom has when letting someone into her and her child's world. Cole handled it amazing. I loved the relationship he had with his mom. Beautiful story!

I am a huge Melanie Shawn fan and this book did not disappoint!!! Cole and Julianna had great chemistry and I loved how her son factored into their love story and the 90's dance parties were awesome!!!
