In one life, Carys is an assistant mythology professor in Northern California. In the Shadowlands, she’s a dragon rider with close ties to royals, fae, and powerful magic wielders. It’s not just differing worlds that Carys must navigate but the love of two very different men who wear the same beloved face.
When the Anglian king dies, Carys returns to the Shadowlands where a brittle peace accord threatens to crumble. As war looms and old gods begin to wake, Carys will have to choose between the two men vying for her heart and the two worlds that promise very different destinies.
Dragons, fae, and a fantasy world that is at once familiar and entirely unique—USA Today Bestselling Author Elizabeth Hunter is a master at her craft, unspooling complex worlds and characters into an addictive pause-resister you won’t be able to put down!
This book is book 2 of this series and I am still head over heels with this world! A world full of wonder and whimsy. A land akin to fairy tales. Where magic is vast. This is the Shadowlands. Carys, Duncan, Laura, all of whom are from our world, travel back and forth to the Shadowlands, when they are pulled into political chess.
I can’t wait to get my ears on book 3. I know the written book is out, but I have been pulled in so deep with the audio of the first two, that I will hold on for the third in that form as well. And yes, I was lucky enough to be an alc listener for this book as an exchange for an honest review. I am definitely the one that benefits most from that exchange, because this book is that good.
Ava Lucas is amazing at portraying multiple accents as well as both male and female voices.
