Kidnapped by the Laird of Wrath: A Scottish Historical Romance Novel (Entering a Sinner's Lair Book 1), my sixth read from author Keira McCain, a 358-page Scottish Highlander historical romance. I loved the storyline involving a plus-sized woman, no spoiler though, you'll have to red the excellent book. There are so many Scottish historical romances out there, but they're popular and I read my share of them. McCain is in good company along with Jayne Castel & Glynnis Campbell. “I received a complementary Kindle copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review." The gifting of this book did not affect my opinion of it. I look forward to reading more from this author as they're published. (RIP Marley January 20, 2014 - July 24, 2018).
Kept alone and mistreated Maia Ferguson clung to hope of one day being free of her uncle’s cruelty.
Little did she know Ewan Byrne would use her uncle’s crimes to give her a new start!
Held as ransom for an attack against his clan, Ewan was sure her uncle would attempt to make things right to get her back.
Facing uncertainty and discovering new feelings has them both on edge and unsure of what must happen next. All they know is that the attraction is real and growing stronger day by day. What will happen when this is all over and Maia leaves or returns home?
I enjoyed this one, but hated the uncle with a passion. Too bad he didn’t suffer longer!
Kidnapped by the Laird of Wrath is a fiery Highland romance that blends danger, passion, and redemption. Lady Maia’s resilience shines through as she faces captivity, while Laird Ewan’s wrath slowly gives way to vulnerability and desire. Their chemistry is intense, with plenty of steam and emotional tension, all set against the rugged backdrop of the Scottish Highlands. Keira McCain delivers a story that’s both atmospheric and satisfying, with a guaranteed happily‑ever‑after that makes the journey worthwhile.
This is the story of Ewan and Mia and how they came together. I like the plot line which was flushed out well… along with both the Ewan and Mia and the supporting cast. My only issue with this is that Mia came across as weak and indecisive, constantly needing reassurance about the same thing for most of the book… it drove me crazy ..
I’m not a big fan of weak female characters in any book 📕 and sadly that is how I saw Mia the whole time. I really like Ewan, he needed a stronger woman at his side ..
-A gripping Highland romance featuring the gentle Lady Maia and the honorable Laird Ewan Byrne. I received a free copy and am voluntarily sharing my takeaways.
Maia’s rescue from cruelty turns into a slow-building bond filled with kindness, trust, and growing love. Emotional, intriguing, and beautifully written, this story pulls you in from the first page. I recommend this romantic story.
I loved this book and can't wait to read the next one. The villain was well developed and I despised him right away. The MMC and the FMC made me root for them. And the nephew was very well depicted. Humor was sprinkled throughout. This is my first time to read a book by this author and it surprised me. Just the kind of book I want and love to read. Recommend. Recommend. Recommend. 🌹
It started out bad but soon turned out so completely right..
She has one friend and so alone as a prisoner in her own clan until he came. Kidnapped but not scared as anything is better than her uncle's abuse. Keira has written an intriguing highland story, one that pulled me into Maia's adventures from page one. So, so good!
Awesome adventure!!! An amazing story of bravery and overcoming of bullying! What she went through was so incredibly frightening. I have known people like her uncle when I was growing up and to deal with them. I was not perfect or pretty. The adventure was incredible. The characters were awesome. Thanks for sharing your story!!!
A story finally where a plus sized lass gets the dream come true. God she suffered and so did he as children but the Gods shined on them and all was wonderful. You’ll definitely enjoy this sweet steamy read. Thank you Keira of making us plus sized girls dreams come true in a book.
Silence brings strength, but not always in he way that is expected. Keira McCain brings this and more to you in this intriguing tale. Don't be left in the dark, about this beautiful story.
Maia had such a bad life and Laird Ewan's wasn't much better. This story is about learning to overcome an evil relative and finding joy out of danger. Excellent book
Imprisoned by her uncle after the death of her parents for six years and also mentally abused, Maia is felt hopeless. Then one night she was awakened and stollen away by Ewan. With this new taste of freedom Maia blossoms and romance beckons.
Maia and Ewan’s tale is filled with excitement from page one. You dive right into the mess that Maia finds herself in and already you are feeling her pain! The characters are so real that you feel what they feel… a great proof of a great story!
Story came across as staged in some places. Characters good, but Laura was overdone in het first scene. Runaway scene with two women at end hardly believable. With more experience, no doubt will improve.
