The Last Dance

Rate this book

A ruthless enemy collides with a family’s legacy…

Captain Jacob Brown of the United Earth Marine Corps knows this fight has been coming. He knows that they are coming.

They call themselves the Synod. They are everywhere… and nowhere. They are the enemy that rises from the ashes of the old order and threatens to bring the entire quadrant under their thumb. All they need to secure total victory is a secret, ancient power Jacob’s family has guarded for years.

Now he will risk everything in a winner-takes-all gamble that will see the Synod destroyed, or ascendant.

The Last Dance is the explosive conclusion to the bestselling Terran Scout Fleet series.

Awesome Ending to a Great Series

It's been a long time since I've enjoyed reading a series this engaging.
I truly enjoyed all the character development The adventures were enthralling and the ending was truly superb in the best traditions Of science fiction.
I highly recommend this book and the entire series I'm really glad I happened upon it and recommended to anybody interested in an engaging and fun series to read.

Hell of a ride

This 8 book series has been a lot of fun to follow. The characters grew on me and it was sad to have to say goodbye to so many. As Joshua pointed out time does march on and normal people age. On the other hand the Omega Misfits will continue and Jacob and Tin Man are sure to pop in or even perhaps have a few solo adventures. Speaking of which... There sure seems to be some Murph/Whitney tales hidden out there somewhere.

A tremendous ending, or is it the beginning?

I thoroughly enjoy this series, as well as the Omega Force series. Well written, not overly complicated, military science fiction that also has solid character development. And quite frankly a series that I look forward to each and every time a new novel is published. Thanks Joshua!!

Lackluster Finale

“The Last Dance (Terran Scout Fleet Book 8)” is the lackluster and overwhelmingly lifeless finale of the same series. It shows all the signs of an author limply going through the motions, depending on writing software templates, speech-to-text, flaccid proofreading, and a storyline hobbled by the author’s apparent rush to deliver content prior of contract obligations.

Always look forward to reading Joshua Denzelles books and this series has been one of the best. The Last Dance does make it seem final and when you read through the book you really do wonder how it will end. I found some of the story a tad predictable and I felt they got what they wanted a little too easy. The ending came out how I thought it would but you do have your concerns on how it will end. A shame the series has come to an end it was really good.

The Last Dance is easily the strongest entry in the Terran Scout Fleet series so far.

By book eight, a series can either feel tired or hit its stride. This one does the latter. The stakes feel real, the tension is sustained, and the emotional weight lands harder than anything earlier in the series. Dalzelle tightens the pacing without losing the strategic depth that makes this universe compelling in the first place.

going out with a bang

The conclusion of scout fleet team Obsidian, and the conclusion of scout fleet itself. Everybody is after the Noxu AI and who gets it will upset he balance of the quadrant. However Jacob with help of Jason have something else planned, but not all plans end perfect, ending with a antimatter finish...

Great Series!

I do not usually leave reviews but I felt compelled to make a note and share.
I just simply could not put the series down without having an understanding of when I would return to it. The action and character development was enough to hold my attention, interest and excitement.

Well done JD.

Wow! What a great ride!

Having never read one of Joshua Dalzelle's books before, I was completely unprepared for how great a concept this is, and how skillfully Mr. Dalzelle crafts his story and creates his extremely rich characters.

If you like this genre you will love this series.

A clever ending

Really wondered how the author planned to tie up loose ends and provide a clean ending and this pretty much gives us that
Yes a few irregularities that could have been handled better i.e. if Webb worked it out, others will too
Will be interesting to see what the author does with the remaining characters, hopefully a new series with them doing dangerous stuff

This is the five-star rating system I use:

★★★★★ Great book! Can’t wait to read it again (and I will).
★★★★☆ Good book. I am glad I read this.
★★★☆☆ OK book. Nothing special but not bad.
★★☆☆☆ Not good. Why did I waste my time?
★☆☆☆☆ Lousy. I didn’t finish.

If for whatever reason, I go back and reread a good book, I will change the rating to five-star because I read it again.

Dancing With Everyone Looking

This was a nice way to end the series and like one of Captain Burke's plans, it had plenty of chances to fail at every turn but ended successfully. Maybe we'll hear from Jacob Brown and Tin Man in the future?

Outstanding book

This was i believe the best of the series. I had been waiting for it's release. Got drawn into the story and read it too quickly. If this is the end of Jacob's journey, you closed it well.

Great book. 😄

I really enjoyed this book. I hope it's not the last we see of Jacob & Tin man. As usual there are twists, turns and humour in the story. Cannot wait for next one. Which will be the Omega crew I imagine..

Tumultuous

What a great ride this book was. I could not put it down!! I'm sad that this was the last book. I was hoping to read about more Jacob/ Tin man adventures. The lead up to the end was great!

As the Terran Scout Team series comes to a climax, Captain Jacob Brown and Tin Man aim to stop the Synod once and for all. Assisted by old and new allies, they hatch a dangerous plan, that they may not walk away from. Good final book and good series, I'm sure they will pop up again.

The Last Dance

But slow at first, but once got going was a good read. Glad the characters future's got resolved. ie Murph and Carolyne. Jacob and his friends, and, if course Jason and Omega Force. Oh, and all the baddies got their just desserts.

Good read.

This was a good read and it wrapped everything up and answered all the questions you might have about who was who. There was a lot of action and some misdirection in this book also but it all made sense at the end .
