Death Breaker: A Fantasy Romance Novel

Rate this book
A Love That Defied Death. A Power That Consumed Gods. A Fate That Demands Blood.

With her loves dead and gone, Aelia Springborn awakens in the Underworld—hell-bent on bringing them back. But escaping death is easier said than done. To return to the living, Aelia must place her trust in the Morrigan, a goddess of war and secrets, and navigate the treacherous wastes of No Man’s Land. There, she’ll face the legions of a fallen queen and her army of lost souls before descending into the bowels of Hell itself to cross the Veil between life and death.

While Aelia battles her way through the Underworld, Amolie works tirelessly to forge a bridge between worlds. But to bring her friends back from beyond the Veil, she’ll have to pay a price only the gods can demand.

Meanwhile, Gideon fights for survival in the brutal Rasa fighting pits, and Baylis and Erissa scour the continent for another Trinity Well—only to discover that to find it, Baylis must strike a bargain with the Wraith King himself.

In a world where gods play with mortal fates, love defies the grave, and vengeance burns brighter than the fires of Hell, three souls will bind and rise from the ashes.

Perfect for fans of Sarah J. Maas, Carissa Broadbent, Jennifer L. Armentrout, and Rebecca Yarros, Death Breaker is a darkly romantic epic of gods, monsters, and the woman who dares to break death itself.

Omg what can I say…Death Breaker is by far my favorite of the 3 books in the series. It was a fantastic, heart pounding, wild ride of action and devotion. The book follows 3 storylines: Aelia into the underworld, Gideon into the desert, and Baylis’s journey. Sometimes with multiple storylines switching every chapter you sometimes want to skip ahead to the storyline you like most, but all three storylines were freaking amazing. I didn’t want to skip ahead bc I had to know what happened with each person. This series has seriously gotten better with each book. I cannot wait for book 4. That ending…chef’s kiss!

Thank you K.W. Foster for the ARC for an honest review.

I have missed the world of The Mind Breaker series for so long. When I first started the series, specifically with book 1, I thought it was overhyped. When book 2 came along I slowly fell deeper into the world and the entire series became something that I longed for - it’s like a slowburn in my brain because it lingered. When I saw that there was a book 3, I was very excited because I could not wait to return to Aelia, Tharan, Caiden, and everyone else. Death Breaker picks up right where A Vow of Wrath and Ruin left off and the story is fast-paced and intense. It is so different from what I remembered of the previous two novels when it comes to the story-telling.

Again, we get all the P.O.V.s but they’re all told from a different perspective: Aelia’s is the only one that is first-person, all the other characters are from the third-person. I thought it was going to bother me but it just enhanced the story that much more for me. I love that we got perspectives from the wider variety of individuals and from all the different realms. I love seeing how there’s conflict everywhere and that everyone has to make choices and decisions regardless if the character is one that is beloved or one that readers have come to hate; all the while, the groundwork for book 4 is clearly being laid out (I need book 4!!!)

If you have kept up with the series, or if you’re looking for a series to start, I encourage you to give The Mind Breaker series by K.W. Foster a go. This has all the makings of a fantastic journey complete with: trials; a redemption arc; love triangle; second chance romance; women being strong; and so much more! I can’t wait to see what happens next because I thought this was the end but I’m glad it isn’t.

Thank you so much to K.W. Foster for this gifted ARC. I am excited for what happens next!

The Mind Breaker books are easily one of my favorite series, it has everything I want in a book - it's dark, full of vengeance, a spicy love triangle, terrific world building, interesting magic system, epic quests, bitting humor, and main character that are all over 30. Honestly it feels like this series is a manifestation of my deepest book girlie wish.

Death Breaker was such an expected twist and I am in awe of the plot line that is continuing to develop. There is this gentle forshawdowing that carries readers along and when these smalls elements are revealed, you just sit there and can see the mental dominos starting to fall. But the full picture of how things will play out for Aelia, Tharan, and Caiden is still so unknown. But one thing is guaranteed, the spice is there and just keeps getting hotter and more emotionally entangled.

Something that I find so unique about this books is how strong of a presence the side characters have. They don't simply have these random moments, but there are full subplots just focused on these characters that weaves through the main story arc. This blending of storylines and view points is so beautifully done and creates such an immersive experience.

When I saw that the POV for this book was going to include the POV from the villain I was prepared to loath every second and be chanting for their downfall... I'm not sure how it happened and I think my brain is still broken, but what type of author magic is needed to humanize the villain to a point where you become invested in their storyline? I am still sitting here in awe.

If you had to pick one new series to start reading this year, this is it. This series leaves rent free in mind and I cannot wait for the next book.

Death Breaker
by K.W. Foster
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Death Breaker is the 3rd book in the Mind Breaker Series. Book 3 leads off right where book 2 ended so make sure you read book 1 and 2 first!

Thank you to K.W. foster for the ARC. It has been wonderful being apart of this journey with you! 🫶

This book is for lovers of romantasy and those that love the continuation of a fantasy series storyline. For lovers of adventure, hope, love, and power. For those that love a deep storyline told from 4 POVs. If you’ve ever wanted in the villains head, you need to read this book!

When I started this book and saw it was written in 4 POVs, I had more questions than answers. BUT the more I read the more I began to LOVE all the POVs. How often do you get a villain’s POV?? Not often, and I really enjoyed it! I do have some concerns for my own sanity as I’m starting to have positive feelings towards Gideon and Baylis. Not sure if I’m being messed with or just another way for me to possibly get my heart broken.

Team Theron continues on and my life is complete reading all the sweet things he says to Aelia on a consistent basis. Where do I find my own Theron??!! Sorry Caiden but I need the hot forest elf. 😍

With a POV change at each chapter, it kept the pace of the book moving quickly. You finish one and want to know what will be happening with that person in their next chapter. I was such a fan! Strong character, strong plot, and strong feelz.

First, a huge thank you to K.W. Foster for allowing me to be on her ARC team and read this book early! And happy release day to book 3 in one of my favorite series!

I honestly think Death Breaker may have claimed the top spot as my favorite book in the series, which is saying a lot because book one has held a special place in my heart since I first read it!!

This installment follows four POVs: Amolia, Gideon, Baylis, and Aelia. Each character is facing their own challenges in different parts of the world, and I was completely invested in every storyline. I especially loved getting Gideon's POV and learning more about him. What can I say? I've been enjoying a good villain storyline lately!

The world-building continues to be one of this series' greatest strengths. Every setting felt vivid and immersive, making it easy to get lost in the story. I absolutely flew through this book because I needed to know where each plotline was headed.

That said, be prepared because this one packs an emotional punch. It definitely wrecked me in the best way possible!!

And that ending? Chef's kiss! Now I'm impatiently waiting for the next book.

If you've been following this series, make sure you pick this one up today!

Okay so I did NOT expect this one to wreck me the way it did, but here we are. 😭

Death Breaker does not let you breathe. The stakes are immediately sky-high, the world gets so much bigger, and Aelia continues to be the kind of heroine you just root for with your whole chest. Her determination to fight for the people she loves made her impossible not to follow.

The Underworld in this book is everything. It's not some vague mystical backdrop; it has its own rules, its own politics, its own monsters. The mythology is woven in so naturally that it never slows anything down, it just makes the world feel lived-in and dangerous. Every single character is carrying something impossible, and watching those threads start to connect was so satisfying.

I will say, some scenes genuinely hit hard. Like, close the book and stare at the ceiling hard. The grief in this story is real, the stakes feel real, and the victories feel earned because of it.

If you're into dark fantasy with mythology, found family, insane emotional stakes, and a heroine who will absolutely burn everything down for love, pick this up. Just maybe keep some tissues nearby. 🖤

⚔️ Death Breaker ⚔️

Aleia Springborn finds herself waking up in the underworld and the only way to get back to the land of the living is to work beside Morrigan, a goddess of war. On the other side, Amolia is trying to find a way to create a bridge between the two world. Meanwhile Gideon is in the Rasa fighting pits, becoming stronger. Baylis and Erissa also find themselves amongst the Wraith King. Death Breaker is the third book in the Mind Breaker series

Publication date: June 16 2026
Rating: 4 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

First I’d like to say thank you to the author for the ARC! All opinions are my own.

I believe that this series gets wilder and more compelling as it goes on! I devoured this book in one sitting because I couldn’t put it down.

I’m normal not a multiple POV kind of reader, but I really enjoyed having multiple point of views in this book. I really enjoyed Baylis and Aleia’s point of views the most.

The book has multiple settings such as the underworld, and hell and they are both interesting and described very well.

I’m not a huge love triangle fan, but I can say it definitely added to the spice! 👀

this is the third book in the mind breaker series and omg is it the best one. it's definitely my favorite book in the series and wow was it incredible!

i am honestly a little speechless and dont even know where to begin with review because of that. i also dont want to spoil too much either so i will make it short

the first thing i really have to bring is the underworld. omg the underworld in this book was literally everything and was described so vividly and uniquely. the world building for it is top tier and even though its a dangerous place, i really want to go there 😂

the second thing i will say is that be prepared to be wrecked. i was not expecting that at all. so have tisses ready 😅. this book truly is a wild ride and i honestly wouldn't have it any other way.

i cant wait to continue this series. kwfoster please don't write an ending anytime soon because i am not ready for this series to ever end. also thank you so so much for giving me the opportunity to read and review this masterpiece!🫶🏼

Wow... this might be my favorite of the three books so far. It's otherworldly. It's morbid and bizarre, the mythology is detailed, and the writing well done.

I love that we had four different POVs, each with their own storyline. In some books, this can be really confusing, or I'd forget what was happening with one character while the book focused on another. But the chapters switched frequently enough, and there were some parallels, so it was quite easy to follow all of them.

And in the end, some of the POVs come together, which set things up so well for the next book!

I hadn't been sure what to think of Lucius in the first book, but I liked him in the second, and now I love him. I'm excited to see what comes next for him!

Aelia, Amolie, and Baylis really come into their power and confidence in this book, and it's beautiful to see how this comes together for the three of them.

Considering how this book was so well done and how things left off, I think the next book is going to be pretty epic!

4.5⭐️ 3🌶️

Death breaker was a brilliant follow up to A Vow of Wrath and Ruin, and while not my favorite book in the series it definitely still lived up to expectations.

Aelia, Tharan, and Ciaran with the help of Morrigan have to navigate their way out of the underworld. Meanwhile both Baylis and Amolie both come into their own and their roles become clearer. At the same time Gideon has plans of his own.

Following immediately after the cliffhanger events of A Vow of Wrath and Ruin, Death Breaker expands the POVs presented to make sure all elements of the story are covered, including a rare villain POV. Being able to see Gideon’s perspective helps the reader get to know him and motivations batter, as well as helping expand his story arc without showing a jarring change to his status when he finally meets our heroes again. The multiple POV also transfers some of the minor characters into major characters in the plot and is done beautifully.

The love triangle situation between the lead characters continues to be done well, and the ending is done well though the cliffhanger revelation is not on the scale of the previous book.

Overall, I great continuation to the Mind Breaker series and I can’t wait to see where this goes next.

A big thank you to K. W. Foster who gave me chance to read Death Breaker early. This review is left voluntarily.

This blew me away, I could not put this down! I don't even know where to begin, immediately we are thrown into the Underworld with Aelia, where book 2 left off and my gods, this world just got a whole lot bigger, and the stakes throughout were so high! The way this world is described is just phenomenal. The mythology, creatures & even the politics were just chefs kiss.

Now, I really enjoyed the extra pov's in Death Breaker, usually I find multiple pov's confusing but not here, it really brought the story together and helped me keep track of everyone easier. What was really neat though, was the villain's pov, as much as I despised him in the other books, I liked getting into Gideon's head.

Overall, I really enjoyed this! It was action packed, My heart was pounding the whole time, I gasped out loud like so many times. And yes, Tharan is still one of my top book bfs- the way he talks to and treats Aelia, yeah he's everything and more. Sorry not sorry, Caiden. This world has me in a chokehold and I have no intention of getting free.

This is the 3rd book in The Mindbreaker series. You must read bks 1 & 2 first!

K.W. Foster does it again. She has a knack for completely destroying her readers but leaving us begging for more! This installment in the series is my favorite! It’s an incredible adventure that will tug your heart in every direction. The world building is perfect! I love getting the different povs because it gave the story even more depth. I absolutely love the underworld! That ending? Big cliffhanger! But we wouldn’t have it any other way! I swear this series is just getting better with each book. I can’t wait for the next book and I really hope it’s not the final one.

ARC REVIEW

Aelia, Tharan, Caiden, and Morrigan are trapped in the underworld, desperate to find a way back. Meanwhile, Amolie is willing to do absolutely anything to bring her friends home, Baylis is trying to save her lover, and Gideon is executing plans of his own.

While this wasn’t my absolute favorite book in the series, it was still a solid read! It picks up right after that brutal cliffhanger from the previous book. I loved getting Gideon's perspective this time around—it was such an interesting addition and really helped me understand his character better. The multiple POV structure worked perfectly here, letting us follow everyone as they navigate their own paths.

Also, the love triangle between the MCs was absolutely 🔥, and that ending? A total cliffhanger that I never saw coming!

*Thanks to the author and publisher for an ARC for review*

Wow. This was a delicious, sexy slow burn that had that token KW Foster twist at the end with the epilogue.

Our trio of heroes, Aelia and her two loves Tharan and Caiden, end up half dead, in the underworld after a confrontation at the Wells in book 2. In Death Breaker, we follow their journey to get back home — to the land of the living.

Meanwhile, Amolie and the rest of the crew, are searching for a way to get beyond the veil, and bring the trio back, but the price is very high.

And Baylis, the bitch we love to hate, may have redeemed herself?? Did Aelia’s sister finally grow a spine?! We love this for her.

If you read any other books in the main breaker series, this needs to be on your to be read list immediately!

This book is crazy! So many things happen and the POVs intertwine so chaotically it’s the most entertaining. The book starts where the last left on in total shambles and boy does this book take you through a crazy ride. You get not only Aelia’s POV but also Gideon and Baylis. Each one is working toward a different goal. Baylis reaches into her darkness, Gideon continues to descend into his and Aelia is trying to claw her way back with her two loves. Get ready for trials, craziness and of course some scorching spice, that could rival the fires in hell. Get ready for an adventure as the mind breaker series continues.

“Two hearts, two souls, now become one. Together in this life and the next.” 😭

Oh man! What a wild ride that was. Soooo much happened 🤯

I loved all the POVs. Really gives you the adventure vibes with everyone being in a different place during the story.
When Aelia found Tharan & Caiden I was sooo mad for her! But man did they show out. Morrigan is a beast, enough said. I love the ending! I did NOT see that coming.
Amolie is so brave and to me went through the most in this book.
Gideon? Oh Gideon. I hope to see him fall 😡
That being said I love this series so so much! Tharan has my heart always and forever.

Thank you KW Foster for my eARC 🫶🏼

Genuinely HOW does this series keep getting better with every single book?

When we left book 2 on that absolutely insane cliff hanger that ripped my heart into a million pieces, I was not prepared for the epic journey that was Aelia in the underworld with the Morrigan.

Not to mention Gideon in the pits, Baylis’ insane journey with butthead Erissa, and watching Amolie and the crew hold down the fort while their fearless leader was indisposed.

I was absolutely THRILLED to get more POVs from Amolie, Baylis, and Gideon, even though I was screaming not to kind things at Baylis and Gideon the whole time due to the horrible things they did in book 2(if you know you know).

Incredible all the way though. I cannot wait for more!!

I was so excited to be back into this series. Book 3 is definitely my favorite! This book had multiple POV's that are having different battles. I was so invested in all of them and what was happening. I was afraid I might get lost or confused but that did not happen. I was not expecting to be hooked on Gideon's pov as much as I was. I absolutely loved the villain POV. Of course Aelia and Theron are my favorites. I was always so invested when it came to the two of them. The ending had me an emotion wreck! I was not expecting that and can't wait to read what you do next I highly recommend this book if you enjoy the fantasy genre! ARC Review ✨ — This book is my favourite in the series so far. I absolutely ate it up. I loved getting the different POVs between Aelia, Gideon, Amolie and Baylis. It was so fun to switch between each of their adventures and the best thing about it was that all four of their stories were gripping and exciting, and I wanted to find out how each ended. I always fear with multiple POVs that I’ll not enjoy one as much as the others but that wasn’t the case this time around. I loved the contrast of Aelia and Amolie doing what they needed to do for the people they loved against Gideon and Baylis doing what they needed to do for themselves.

Having Gideon’s POV was definitely interesting considering he’s the villain in this story, especially in Aelia’s story and whilst he is absolutely vile and I don’t like him, that didn’t put me off reading his POV. It was interesting to read, to see how his mind worked and the lengths he would go to for the power he craves.

There’s so many characters in this series and K.W. Foster does such an excellent job of fleshing them out, giving them their own personality and giving you reasons to either root for them or dislike them. None of them feel two dimensional which can be difficult to do with so many characters and storylines.

I honestly cannot wait for the story to continue! This series is such a good series, and I’m thoroughly enjoying it.

Once again, I am super thankful that I can read this book early!

This thrid book was such a ride! There was no moment of rest, between Amolie's quest to bring back her friends, Aelia, Caiden and Tharan's journey in the Underworld and Hell, Baelys and Erissa's journey to find another well and Gideon's descent into his darkness, we are plunged into action after action, choice after choice!

A book packed to the brim with emotion and consequences, we see characters facing their fears and evolving beautifully! And that ending... I NEED more!!!!

Deathbreaker is the next exciting installment in the Mindbreaker series by KW Foster. It picks up from the cliffhanger ending of book 2 and readers should hold on for a wild ride. There is a lot going on and the author gives us POVs of the critical characters to move this amazing story toward its conclusion. Each character is so well developed and KW's world building continues to be magical and magnificent. As always in this series, this book is filled with strong (and often morally gray) female characters who readers will love or love to hate. I am already excited for the next installment!

Death Breaker is Book 3 of the Mind Breaker series and follows right after the end of A Vow of Wrath and Ruin so you really need to read that and book 1, A Curse of Breath and Blood. I’m so glad to have gotten to read this installment. So much excitement as we follow the characters in their development along this adventure. As usual, the world building is amazing and every action scene is intense! I can’t wait to read the next one to see what happens!

Book 3 was more than I could have asked for! We picked up right where we left off with the devastating end of book 2. Aelia has to undo what that strange magic was. What I loved about this book is the different POVs that we are gifted. Baylis…I have more conflicting feelings on her now.

Tropes:

🗡️shadow daddies
🗡️more shadow daddies…maybe new??
🗡️female coming into empowerment

Book 3 is full of action!

All the different beasts are really showing up in book 3! We have several different pov for this one traveling separately through their trials after that cliffhanger in book 2. Amelia continues to grow in her own strength alongside her friends. The love triangle continues as she tries to save them, but there trials for all our characters. I cannot wait for more.

"I wasn’t the girl who’d left. That girl believed love was enough. That justice was real. That people came back. Now… I knew better. The world took what it wanted. And it always took the best parts first".

I can not recommend this series enough. It's dark, moody, and filled with the most delicious feminine rage.

I have been so lucky to be an early reader since the beginning and each book keeps upping the anty of how much my heart and nerves can take.

A non stop ride from the beginning with multiple POVs. Did I mention one of the POVs is from the villain ?

I have adored every book in this series so far and this one brought even more magic to my heart and I’m so lucky to have gotten to read this ARC. The way the author explores themes of loving multiple people while still having to make hard decisions and the choices that these characters have had to face together has bound this story to me in a way I couldn’t have imagined. I felt myself literally tear up when I saw “book complete” because I wasn’t ready for it to be over. I savored every sentence as I got closer to the end almost begging it not to stop.
