All This Light: Poems | Poetry for Heartbreak, Healing and Self-Love

Rate this book
For anyone who's ever loved too hard, felt too much or needed words when their own wouldn't come A raw, honest companion for grief, loneliness, healing and finding your way back to yourself From the author whose words reach millions-now a complete collection to hold, gift and return to
In a world where darkness creeps

into every corner of our lives,

I am writing about light-

not because it's always visible,

but because we desperately need it.

In a society that's losing hope,

I am striking matches in the dark

to show that light still matters,

that it's still worth searching for.

They say we're lost in the shadows,

but this book is proof

that light isn't just a distant dream-

it's the spark that keeps us going.

So here it is-

my flashlight in your hands,

a reminder that

"all this light" is exactly

what we need to find our way

back to ourselves.

This book is healing.

The writing made me reflect on so many things I haven’t been able to. Things which lay scattered in my mind for so long. Unknowing these unresolved things hinder your thoughts and emotions from getting into a closure when needed.

This collection will surely help you resolve unfinished thoughts, regrets or worries from your past. It will leave you satisfied with coming to terms with the emotions you were avoiding to process.

Yes, it will help you heal.

Thank you, author, for the amazing book.

All This Light by Ashish Bagrecha is the second book in the 3 poetry book series. I absolutely loved the first book and this one was equally amazing.

I love his writing and the way both these books are curated. I need the third book too asap!!!! 🫠 The words are raw, the emotions are honest and well felt. If you are a poetry lover like me, his books are a soul to my heart.

Ashish Bagrecha spreads his wisdom of words through his books which hit the right spots. Even with the heavy topics and emotions his books deal with, at the end of the day it gives us hope and a ray of silver light through the darkness.

As always, his words feels like a cozy blanket on a rough day and relatable. Simple diction, you can easily breeze through the poems. A few poems are repeated from prev anthologies though.

Is my air different than others?
I can see everyone living easily
while I can barely breathe.

This line stayed with me long after I closed All This Light, because it feels less like poetry and more like a question I’ve been quietly asking myself for a long time. This was my first time reading Ashish Bagrecha, and I went in not knowing what to expect—only that I had heard his name often. I’m genuinely glad this was my introduction. The book doesn’t try to impress with complexity; instead, it meets you exactly where you are—on your hardest days, in your most overwhelming thoughts, and in those silent moments when everything feels too heavy to carry.

What makes this collection deeply personal for me is how closely it mirrors emotions I struggle to articulate. The poems feel like they are born from the edges of life—depressing nights, anxious spirals, unspoken conversations, and the quiet exhaustion of just existing. Lines like
“the dark angel visited again and left marks on my back”
or
“I know deep down I can do anything…
so why don’t I move?”

don’t just sound beautiful—they hit somewhere real. I found myself pausing often, not because the language was difficult, but because it was too familiar. It reflects that strange space where you feel stuck, unseen, and silently questioning your worth. Especially the thought—maybe I was made to be unlovable—it’s uncomfortable, but painfully honest. This book doesn’t shy away from those feelings; it sits with them.

At the same time, All This Light doesn’t force healing or rush toward answers, and I appreciate that. It simply reminds you that you’re not alone in feeling this way. The poems are short, almost like fleeting thoughts, but each one carries weight and multiple meanings depending on where you are emotionally. For me, this wasn’t just a collection to read once and move on—it’s something I know I’ll return to when life feels overwhelming again. It’s relatable in a way that feels almost too close, yet strangely comforting. If you’ve ever felt like you’re falling behind in life, feeling too much, or not being understood, this book quietly holds your hand and says, “I see you.”

”This time, it's not just my heart i'm offering it's my mind. the thoughts i've tried to quiet, the shadows that stretched too.”

- Ashish Bagrecha, all this light

Bagrecha has curated these delicate poems with a lot of heart. Even though he refers to the mind.
The verses are deeply personal for someone who has been a student of life. His vulnerability shines through each of the poetic pieces and creates a connection with the readers.

”i may not be able to stop you
when you decide to leave me,
but can i ask you to leave behind
a little smile, a little hug,
a little kiss, and a little love?”

The prologue is beautifully penned. I couldn't help myself from taking photos and saving them in my personal vault. He compares and contrasts how different his current book is — ’all this light’ from ’all this love’. But I definitely feel that they intersect in some places. For example, the common phrase that links them is connection. They form a bridge between the hearts and minds. Some poems offer quiet reflection, resonance and yet, many of them invite you to sit with them for a while. Written in an accessible language, the verses sift through the mind and untangle the knots of anxiety, giving shape to unspoken fears.

”how funny that sometimes
we can't think anything,
yet our thoughts become the end of us.”

I never thought a poetry collection will resonate so much with me. I will definitely come back to it when I'm lost, seeking a guiding light.

”Some poems are heavy. take your time. let them sit with you, or let them go. there's no right way to navigate the darkness.”

Having said that, I feel that the playlist given at the beginning depends on individual tastes. I used my personal playlist while reading poems and pondering over them.

Some books have a unique ability to linger in your heart and mind, providing solace during times when you need an embrace and a sense of peace.

All This Light by Ashish Bagrecha has become one such book for me. I packed it in my bag during my last holiday, and as I delved into its pages, I felt as if the book itself was acknowledging my struggles, making me feel truly seen.

Life is often a series of challenges, and many of us experience days when it feels as though we’re sinking into a heavy darkness. Yet, within ourselves, we possess the capacity to find light, no matter how dim it may seem. This collection of poetry resonates profoundly, mirroring the quiet introspections that surface in the stillness of the night much like reading someone’s soul at 2 AM. Bagrecha’s work captures raw emotion, vulnerability, and the deeply personal experiences we often grapple with alone.

Throughout the collection, he explores themes such as overthinking, emotional fatigue, and the complex nature of loneliness, which can sometimes feel inexplicable. Each poem offers a comforting embrace, helping to ease the weight of solitude and reminding us that others have walked similar paths.

The beauty of poetry lies in its simplicity; the language is almost conversational. This quality becomes a key strength of the book, as it does not overwhelm the reader with intricate metaphors or elaborate structures. Instead, it gently nudges us toward reflection on truths we often overlook such as the reality that healing is a gradual process, that it’s perfectly fine to feel adrift at times, and that even amidst our darkest moments, there is still some flicker of light remaining.

This was my first book by Ashish Bagrecha — an author I’ve been curious about for a long time because his work has been everywhere on Instagram for years. So when I finally received this book, I was excited to dive in.

The book is divided into four parts, but interestingly, none of them come with explanations or defined themes. You simply experience them and make your own connections as you move through the pages.

If you’re someone who often stumbles upon verses on Instagram that somehow capture exactly what you’re feeling — almost serendipitously — this book will resonate with you.

The poems are short and bite-sized, yet layered with emotion. Some feel heavy, some intense, so it’s a book best read slowly. Take your time with it. Chances are you’ll find yourself reflected in at least one poem along the way.

The first half can feel dark and daunting, especially depending on your mental space while reading. But the second half slowly brings in the light — filling the pages with hope and quiet reassurance, one poem at a time.

There’s also a beautiful playlist included in the book (Spotify code at the beginning), which I highly recommend listening to while reading. I did spot some favourites✨

As the author writes:
“In a world that demands we mask our pain, I hope this book reminds you it’s okay to be vulnerable and share how you really feel inside out.”

A brave reminder and perhaps that’s exactly how the light finds its way in.
And how we remember we’re never truly alone in what we feel.

There is a reason Ashish Bagrecha should be read not slowly, not scholarly, but intimately. And All This Light understands that most often the reader is not looking for technique, but for understanding and connection.
This isn’t poetry that cloaks itself in intricacy. This poetry comes to you already half familiar.
On the surface, the writing appears almost disarmingly plain. But it isn’t. It’s working to disarm. And once it does, the lines start to find their target in a way that cannot be denied. Bagrecha isn’t trying to redefine feelings. He’s trying to define them, simply, and hoping that simplicity will be enough.
The concept of light isn’t really being used as a metaphor. It’s almost being used as a demand. A constant, almost insistence upon the idea that even in our exhaustion, there’s something inside of us that continues to extend outward. There are moments where the repetition of emotions feels almost familiar. Perhaps that’s the point of the emotional cycles this work has been written to navigate.
This is not a collection meant to be analysed in isolation; it is meant to be met in a certain state of mind. And that is where the book finds its strength. It does not demand literary admiration.
It creates emotional dependency. And in today’s uncertain times, that may be the more powerful achievement.

After reading this book, i only want to ask one question - Dear Ashish, who hurt you?

After All This Love, Ashish Bagrecha returns with All This Light, the second installment in his trilogy, and this time the poems feel quieter, heavier, more inward. They are confessions scribbled at 2 a.m. after deep overthinking. Thoughts that refuse to dim. Emotions that sit on the top of our heads. The collection understands the modern mind, the spiral of overthinking, the exhaustion of feeling too much, the strange ache of feeling nothing at all.

The poems move through anxiety and racing thoughts, depression and numbness, heartbreak and grief. No, they do not rush toward solutions. They just tell us that we're not alone. Bagrecha writes in a way that feels conversational, almost like a friend texting at our lowest point just to say, I see you. The lines are simple, often direct.

The light is the kind that flickers and soothes. There is a ray of hope that feels earned. The collection does not pretend everything is okay. It chooses to sit beside the discomfort until breathing feels possible again. This is a poetry book for those nights when the mind refuses rest and the heart refuses explanation.

With All This Light, Ashish Bagrecha once again spreads that quiet magic through his poetry that speaks directly to the heart. The collection gently reminds us that while darkness is an inevitable part of life, there is always a sliver of light. A small spark of hope that keeps us moving forward when everything feels uncertain. His poems feel like whispers to the soul, reminding us that healing happens softly, between lines and pauses.

The collection is divided into three sections — All, This, and All This Light. Each section unfolds like a different stage of emotional understanding. Through themes of love, loss, heartbreak, hope, resilience, and the journey of finding ourselves again, each section feels like a step closer to healing, guiding readers through vulnerability toward something softer and brighter. They capture those quiet emotions we often struggle to articulate — the longing for love, the ache of absence, and the courage it takes to keep going. This book feels like a little treasure, the kind you return to whenever you feel lost or overwhelmed.

Ashish Bagrecha's 'all this light' isn't just any other poetry book. This book understands the readers to a level that it felt like I was reading something personal. We all deal with heartbreak at some point in our life. This book is for everyone who is going through a tough phase in life. The poems are mainly based on the themes of heartbreak, anxiety, and grieve. Every page is like another night alone with nobody to share the feelings.

The book came to me at the correct time. As someone who's dealing with anxiety, this book felt like some close friend who's going through the same. It surprisingly made me feel better. It made me feel seen. I kept on turning the pages, one after other only to read familiar feelings.

The book is for everyone who feels unseen, unnoticed, heartbroken, anxious and wants to give up. The "light" is inside you. You can and you will keep going. All this light is written in easy and simple language, making it an accessible choice for beginners as well. The book makes you feel like it understands what you're feeling but can't describe. I had a wonderful time reading it. The overthinker in me feels lighter.

i understand –
if you can’t trust healing,
at least trust
the possibility of healing

- All This Light, Ashish Bagrecha

Some books come to you at the perfect time, and that is the greatest feeling ever. Just when my heart and mind were drowning somewhere in emotions, I picked up All This Light by Ashish Bagrecha. And nothing could be a better companion.

The book showed me, told me, instilled in me the belief that nothing is final. And that every emotion has to be felt out. And that after everything, there will come a big ray of light.

The poems talk about love, anxiety, heartbreak, loss, the path of despair and healing – everything that a person might face today. They are not fancy words; rather, they connect to your soul because of their simplicity.

I have always thought that the best poems are the ones that make you want to highlight them for the very reason that you know it..and you need someone to pen it down for you so you can save it.

This book is just that.

“ love is what brings
our dark souls together.
love is the light between us. ”

Poetry has always been my go-to genre and every time I choose to pick it up whenever my mood is off, I end up with a feeling that I have done the right thing. It calms my nerves that are riled up for all the good reasons in the world and flushes the chaos out of my mind and helps me become sane even if it is for a short period.

And reading the book, all this light, has been so comforting. The words are so mitigating that I ended up with a feeling that it’s fine to have pain and also find comfort in it. You can be happy and sad at the same time and be cool about it.

It gives a kind of assurance that it all gets well in the end and even if it doesn’t, it’s going to be fine. It speaks to the souls that are wounded, tired, and sad but exudes warmth with all the soothing words. These heart-touching words linger on for days and weeks before they finally leave us.

It’s always been Ashish Bagrecha’s books for me whenever I’m disappointed with everything around me.

Very much recommended!

This collection feels like a quiet companion for the days when your thoughts feel too loud and your emotions too heavy to carry alone. It doesn’t try to offer quick fixes or perfect answers—instead, it simply sits with you in those moments.

What stood out to me is the honesty. The poems don’t feel polished for effect; they feel real, like fragments of thoughts you’ve had but never put into words. There’s a certain comfort in that familiarity, in knowing you’re not the only one feeling this way.

At the same time, there’s a softness running through the pages—a gentle sense of hope that doesn’t overpower the emotions, but quietly exists alongside them. It makes the reading experience both grounding and reassuring.

Simple, heartfelt, and deeply relatable, this is the kind of book you reach for when you don’t want solutions—just understanding.

This is a heartfelt poetry book that speaks straight to your soul if you're dealing with heartbreak, anxiety, or just feeling lost. It's not about giving quick advice it's more like a quiet friend who sits with you in the dark, sharing simple words that make you feel seen and a little less alone.

This poetry book has short, easy to read poems that dive into real life struggles like overthinking at night, the ache of lost love, family loneliness that creeps in unexpectedly, and those moments when you question your own worth.

It's a comforting read that doesn't promise to "fix" you but helps you sit with your emotions until they soften.

If you enjoy modern Indian poetry, books like Rupi Kaur's but want something more introspective, then pick up this book..

All This Light by Ashish Bagrecha is divided into four sections—All, This, Light, and All This Light—each tracing a different emotional state. The earlier sections dwell heavily on pain, therapy, medication, and emotional exhaustion, making the reading experience quite intense and, at times, overwhelming. While the poems are simple and accessible, a large part of the collection carries a consistently sombre tone.

However, as the book progresses, there is a noticeable shift. The later sections bring in themes of healing, hope, and a quiet acceptance of both light and darkness. The recurring imagery of the universe—stars, the moon, and light—adds a reflective quality to the poems.

I found myself connecting more with the latter half of the book, where the writing feels lighter and more reassuring. While not every poem resonated, a few stood out and stayed with me.
