The Devil has come.
Percy’s awakening changed his life forever. It granted him strength but also the means to make something of himself. But when the truth about his family came out, no amount of strength helped him digest the truth he never thought possible.
Revelations about his bloodline thrust him into a role he never asked for. Power, legacy, expectations – none of it feels like it belongs to him. Still reeling from the shock, Percy struggles to find his footing in a world that now looks at him differently.
Some see hope. Others see threats. And somewhere in the shadows, something ancient is stirring.
Danger is no longer a distant possibility. It is approaching – quietly, deliberately.
Fortunately, he does not stand alone. Percy has friends, and now, he even has a family to call his own. But loyalty and family are complicated matters.
When Percy learns that some who once sought to harm him did so for what they believed was the greater good, he faces a question far heavier than any weapon: Can he forgive betrayal if it was meant to save the world?
Maybe he has to. For the Devil does not wait for answers. He awakens and comes for the Kainesh Kingdom.
To defeat the Devil, he has to embrace the very power that terrifies even his allies. Power that consumes. Power that devours. Power that belongs to the Devil himself.
And Percy is willing to give up everything. Even himself if necessary.

This might be my favorite out of the three PtP books so far. First Percy has to take on the responsibilities of being a prince. He uses his position to begin preparing the kingdom for the invasion to come. He also strikes out on a diplomacy mission to the beast lands, trying to resolve their conflict and gain a powerful ally. Although I wish he had taken Louis with him, the story doesn't suffer for lack of his beastman friend. We also finally get to see the war with the Devil himself. The fighting is tense, the characters journey is satisfying, and the end makes you wish the next book was already out without leaving a terrible cliffhanger.
