Apparently there’s such a thing as Mafia Rom Com,and i was curious as to how that would work.
So,after finding this first in a series for free on Apple Books,i decided to find out.
It turned out to be Mafia light as far as i was concerned….as in,yes there were 4 Mafia families involved, but.
I never had the feeling i was reading a story that showed that side, you know, the Mafia one?
It seemed like the 4 grandmothers were the ones that made The Four Families stick together, but i didn’t get a lot of background on that.
In fact, there was too little of that on everyone…..which means i can’t give more than 2,5🌟
The heroine,Izzy, fell pregnant when she was young from a boy she never wanted to see again.
Her parents appeared to have been so disappointed in her that she left town and didn’t come back until she had to.
You see,the boy that got her pregnant had returned and was threatening her and her son Drew.
Back in town, the family immediately arranged security to keep her safe, and Lance was the one they got to spend the majority of their time with.
He seemed to have his own baggage, but it wasn’t clear what kind, and he shared his apartment with his boss Alana, who also had baggage of her own.
Slowly, the plot thickened, and in the meantime Izzy mended the relationship with her family, while Drew acquired new friends.
Lance and Izzy were attracted to eachother, but didn’t act on it until danger started getting closer.
People got hurt, children were saved by dogs, buildings went up in flames, and secrets came out.
In the end,Drew got the family he needed, and Izzy and Lance got their happy after.
But the enemy is still out there for the next story….
Did i enjoy this one?
To a certain degree….the background of the families could’ve been explained a little more.
The rom was ok,the com too,but even with those i needed the men to be tougher then they were,if you know what i mean.
You can give them a sense of humor, you can let them bond with kids the way Lance did,but please allow them to show a little more of that dark side that goes with the genre!
Izzy had a few moments where she acted like a tough girl, but i would’ve liked to see more of those…not the sob story of everything she’d missed after she ran away.
The kids were adorable though, and they saved most of the story for me.
