Colton Ford

I've loved her since we were kids...

Violet Murphy was always meant to be mine. Forever my best friend, my partner, my wife. But nine years ago, in the deepest, darkest trenches of infertility, Violet said I needed to let her go.

We've now been divorced for more years than we were married. I still live in the house we renovated together. I still work the job I had before she left. I'm here in our hometown, still thinking about her every day. How things went wrong. How things could have been different.

She told me she'd never return to Silver Springs. That I needed to move on and build a family with someone else. It was never an option in my mind. It was never going to happen.

Now I'm standing outside her parents' place and she's just... there. Alone. A mirage of flaming red hair and sun-kissed freckles... and a rounded belly carrying a baby we both never thought she'd be able to have. That's not the only bombshell she's brought back to town with her.

Seems the love of my life has a dangerous admirer. It's my job as a Clarence County Sheriff's Deputy to protect and serve my community, but when it comes to Violet, I'd give up anything to keep her—and the baby she's carrying—safe.

Now that Violet's back, I'm determined to show her that the Silver Ridge Ranch is still her home, and my heart will always belong to her.

I don’t usually write reviews for books I don’t enjoy, but WTF?
I like angst and yearning, but this just felt void. The MMC was amazing but honestly too much, because there is no way in hell you can just accept that your EX wife, who divorced you TEN YEARS AGO after you BOTH went through infertility’s struggles (without ever reaching out), shows up PREGNANT out of nowhere. And he wants to immediately move her in his house too? No anger? No disappointment? Betrayal?

Yes, the baby is his BUT she chose to have it without even consulting him. She refers to it as “HER baby”. And she’s the victim?? She left him to set him free of whatever bs she fed him, then decided to try again and did not think ONCE about contacting him and letting him know and maybe seeing how he was doing??? And his freaking sister just happily hugs her and welcomes her back into their family? His mom joyfully tells her to call her Grammy? Does no one care about that poor man?
Imagine seeing your brother/son/friend’s ex showing up pregnant, knowing that’s what he wanted for so long and the reason why he lost his love and got depressed over…and you just show her love, joy, and make her part of your family again??? I would’ve banned her from the whole town.

I had to DNF because I was raging. The only one who had a point was Beau, who was trying to talk some sense into Colt and brought up how selfish and insane this all was - and to that, she even had the audacity to respond that he wanted her to be a villain to blame someone for Colt’s pain! Wtf?!

Another part that was crazy was when she told Colt “that is my nephew, because your sister has been mine sister since the moment she was born too” when she’s meeting Colt’s nephew for the first time. Like, seriously? Where were you the past ten years? When she got married? And had said baby? Or for anything else?

This was insane and disturbing and I just needed to rant about it.

Also, the double standards are crazy. If a MMC ever did something even remotely similar to this, he’d have to grovel for the next decade and everyone would absolutely hate him - readers, the FMC, her family and her friends. But in this case everyone’s fine with her. Mind-blowing.

This was one of those books that reminds you why you believe in love in the first place. Blue Norther completely swept me away and gave me everything I want in a second chance romance and then some.

Colt and Violet have been everything to each other since they were twelve, and that kind of history just hits differently. Watching a love like that endure time, distance, and truly unimaginable circumstances was so powerful. It felt real, raw, and deeply rooted in something unbreakable. Even when life tried to pull them apart, there was always this quiet understanding that what they had was worth fighting for.

What really stayed with me was the way Colt showed up for Violet through everything. Through infertility, through the danger surrounding her, through her own journey of learning to feel secure in herself, he never wavered. That kind of steady, unwavering love is the kind that lingers long after you finish the book.

And Silver Springs… I don’t think I’ll ever get tired of this world. The sense of family, the community, the way it wraps around you and makes you feel at home, it’s something really special. This is a place I will come back to again and again.

An easy five stars, and honestly the warmest of hugs after such a long struggle.

I’m so torn on this because the premise sounded exactly like something I’d love, but I just couldn’t rate it higher.

Colt deserved so much better. I understand Violet’s decisions were driven by grief, but the logic behind everything still had me sitting there like??? The reconciliation also felt way too easy for me. Imagine divorcing your wife, seeing her again years later, and then she casually drops that she’s pregnant with your child. I needed at least ten business days of emotional damage before they got back together🗿

The suspense element was also pretty minimal and formulaic overall. The main plot mostly revolved around the pregnancy, and the dialogue felt a little too cheesy at times and the dialogue was so cheesy at times. Everyone kept treating Violet like she was made of glass except Beau, who honestly felt like the only person reacting normally to the situation

Some stories grab your heart from the very first page, and Colt and Violet’s journey is one of them.

Watching these childhood sweethearts reunite after ten years apart was incredibly emotional. Their marriage fell apart under the weight of infertility, and seeing them face that pain while Violet returns home pregnant and in danger made this a powerful second-chance romance. The “it’s always been you” feeling runs through every page, and Colt is the kind of protective hero who is impossible not to love.

The small-town setting of Silver Springs adds so much warmth to the story and balances the heavier themes beautifully. I loved the mix of emotional healing and romantic suspense, and the chemistry between Colt and Violet never wavered. The “my wife” moments were especially swoony, and their journey back to each other felt both heartfelt and deeply satisfying.

This was a wonderful introduction to a new-to-me author, and I already know I’ll be continuing with this series. It deals with some emotional topics, but the story handles them with so much heart and care.

I closed this book feeling emotional, hopeful, and completely convinced that some loves are worth fighting for.

Nope can’t do it, got to 20% and wish all the best to the MMC, but this is all too silly, the FMC doesn’t deserve him. Writing needed some editing too. I was hate reading when I stopped and that’s no way to spend an evening.

Violet ir Colt susipažino dar būdami vaikai. Vaikiška draugystė nejučia išaugo į šį tą daugiau.
Jie susituokė ir pradėjo kurti savo šeimą, tačiau Vi niekaip nefalėjo susilaukti kūdikio.. Kiekvienas jos nėštumas baigdavosi persileidimu. Taip tęsėsi iki kol Vi vieną dieną neatlaikė.. Ji suprato, jog negalės Colt suteikti tai, ko trokšta jo širdis, tad geriausias būdas - nutraukti santuoką. Ir nors Colt ją mylėjo visa širdimi, nusprendė paleisti.. ❤️‍🩹

Perskaičiusi istorijos anotaciją supratau, jog laukia skaudi, bet stipri istorija. Ir štai čia aš smarkiai suklydau 🙈 Manau, jog autorė galėjo sukurti tikrą, jaudinančią knygą, tačiau pasuko lengviausiu keliu..
Pati knyga skaitėsi lengvai ir pradžia atrodė daug žadanti, tačiau skaitant toliau man pasirodė ryškiai per daug dramų. Jei nuspręsite skaityti šią knygą, suprasite apie ką aš 🤭
Buvo keletas jautrių momentų, bet tik tiek 🤭 Nepaisant to, knygą perskaičiau išties greitai, bet ji man kažkokių didelių jausmų bei minčių nesukėlė. Galbūt aš turėjau didesnius lūkesčius.
Colt buvo tikrų tikriausias vyrų vyras. Patiko man jo personažas, net labiau nei Vi 🤭
Tad sakyčiau, jog ši istorija toks lengvas skaitinukas 💝

Colt Ford is definitely a man that yearned SOO hard for his ex wife. Years. Years of believing that they would find their way back to each other. I loved how he was SO certain of their love and that eventually Violet would return home. So imagine the surprise he got when Violet showed up at her parent’s cabin heavily pregnant.

This book was filled with swoon worthy moments that had me choking back tears. But nothing beats the angsty moments that will definitely have you feeling like your heart is being ripped out. This couple have been through so much pain together from pregnancy loss/ struggling to have babies. And honestly I do believe many would find this book somewhat hard to read at times. I loved Violet as a character, everything she endured and she remained a beautiful person. Colt was the embodiment of a man so down bad that if my future husband isn’t like this man then I don’t want him. 🙅🏼‍♀️ I liked the underlying plot of the stalker in this book HOWEVER it was far too easy to predict who the stalker was so it kinda fell flat for me. 🫤 this book had so many amazing tropes in it and huge potential but in some areas it came up short. Some integral moments to the characters & their story were either missing from this book or it happened off page and to me that was a tad disappointing. With a second chance romance book I do prefer that they don’t come back together so quickly, and I feel like Colt & Violet came back together far too soon, they should of definitely had many conversations before getting back together. This is just my personal opinion and I would recommend this book to others who love the pregnancy trope with second chance because it’s definitely a beautiful book and I did enjoy myself despite a few tiny issues and I will be continuing this series when Beau’s book comes out.

AME TODOOOOO. Obvio voy por el segundo libro

This book completely wrecked me from chapter one! I was in tears from chapter one😭This was a second chance done beautifully well. This was also my first Tilly H Coleson book and I am a fan!

Colt and Violet have had struggles with infertility during their marriage which was too much for Violet to handle, which led to them getting a divorce and her leaving town. But now 10 years later, she shows back up and is very pregnant. She also has a stalker. Colt now a sheriff’s deputy, has never stopped loving her. And he will stop at nothing to protect her while trying to win her back.

Their story was so heartbreaking and beautiful. I loved Colt so much. He was so kind and protective. You could just feel the “it’s always been you” through every single page”. I was swooning for this man through this whole book😮‍💨I absolutely loved her writing. She delivered some heavy topics with such care and respect. Then she added in the suspense element to it that I love so much!

This was an def an emotional read so check your trigger warnings, but an easy 5⭐️ read for me! What an amazing introduction to a new to me author. I can’t wait for Sudden Summer!

I don’t say this lightly, but this is the best second chance romance I’ve ever read.

Tilly Colson completely swept me away. Every chapter had me rooting for Colt and Violet to find their way back to each other, and by the end I was convinced no one writes enduring love quite like this.

This isn’t just a romance about two people getting another chance. It’s about grief, hope, healing, and choosing each other over and over again. The emotional depth hit me hard, while the romantic suspense kept the pages turning.

Colt absolutely stole my heart. His love never felt conditional or fleeting. He simply never stopped loving Violet, and watching them rebuild what they lost was beautiful.

I can’t believe this was my first Tilly Colson book because she has officially become a new favorite author. If this is what I can expect from her writing, I’m all in.

This book completely stole my heart! Tilly hit us with the emotions and feels in chapter one!😭 literal tears in CHAPTER ONE!

This was my first Tilly H. Colson book and definitely won’t be my last!

This book was a second chance romance that pulled at my heart something fierce! She covered some heavy topics in here but delivered them beautifully!

Colton has always loved his ex wife but years ago they got divorced.. he didn’t want it but Violet did. They had struggled with infertility and the weight of that was too much for Violet.
But years later she shows up and now she’s pregnant. But not only that! She has a stalker and Colton will stop at nothing to protect her. She might be his ex-wife but his love for her never faded.

We got all the “it’s always been you” moments.
I was swooning for this man something fierce. The way he fights for Violet and is so understanding 😭

Tropes:
🩵Second Chance
💙Small town
🩵Yearning
💙Romantic Suspense
🩵It’s always been you
💙Divorced couple

Easy 5⭐️ book for me! Can’t wait to read Tilly’s entire backlist!

This was a wonderful second-chance romance that felt very unique because of the pregnancy trope that was utilized. The romance and experiences of the FMC felt very raw and real. I may have gotten just a touch of PTSD from the delivery scene (there was a trigger warning).

This is the first book in an interconnected standalone series, but it has strong ties to another series by this author. Because of this, I struggled at times to stay fully invested because I prefer to read in order to have a deeper understanding of all the characters and their backgrounds. That is a personal reading preference that did not take away from the book itself.

I did see the suspense element coming from a mile away, too.

But overall, this was a very beautiful story about falling back in love.

I thought I was going to love this since the blurb made me so excited, but I did not 😭

The pacing was outrageous, first of all. You also cannot tell me they just get back together after 9 years without so much as a conversation..
I figured out who the stalker was immediately and I didn’t feel like it fit into the story at all? It was such a random sideplot to the whole pregnancy.

I just didn’t enjoy the overall vibes either and felt like I didn’t even have time to connect to the characters. It was also very repetitive and just a lot of the same sort of scenes over and over again.

I was excited for Beau & Birdie until that last chapter because I can tell we’re going in the same direction 😭

Not the normal TC book

The FMC played the woe is me card through most of the book and that got really annoying. Loved the MMC he was strong, loving, and pretty much gave into the FMC. I would say this will be the only book in the series for me the intro to the next book does not look great I’m guessing your going to have a FMC that is just going to stick around without batting an eye while this man was soo in love with her but sleeps with other women knowing he was hurting her and you going to give us the line “ it’s always been you” 🙄 umm no it hasn’t!!

Rating: 4.25/5

- small town romance
- romantic suspense
- second chance romance (divorced couple)
- surprise pregnancy
- it's always been you (MAX yearning)
- no third-act breakup
- 🌶️.5/5
- dual pov

There’s a lot to love about Blue Norther:

• A small-town sheriff who’s been yearning for his ex-wife ever since she made him sign divorce papers because she believed he deserved a better life than one shaped by her infertility struggles. The “it’s always been you” energy is VERY strong. There may also be a secret tattoo involved 🤭. Once Colt gets Violet back in his orbit, he slips straight into protective (ex) husband and dad mode and refuses to let her go again.

• A romance author FMC whose heart was always in the right place, even if leaving hurt them both. Violet’s terrified to come back carrying Colt’s baby, convinced she’s ruined everything, but she has nothing to worry about 😏.

• MCs in their 40s who, once they get over the *surprise* baby hurdle, are honest, communicative, and upfront. They both know where the other stands (a.k.a. you're stuck with me forever 🥹).

• A suspense subplot that adds a little extra tension and keeps the story moving alongside the romance.

• Big family dynamics, which I’m always a sucker for. I loved getting little glimpses into the other siblings (tell me more about mysterious Lachlan 👀).

This was my first Tilly book, but it definitely won’t be my last. I’m already excited to see where this series goes next.

*Thank you to Tilly H. Colson and House of Hearts for this gifted ARC in exchange for an honest and authentic review - All opinions are my own.*

Where do I even start- well INSTANTLY it’s a 5 STAR book so we can nail that down real quick.

Tilly is one of my favourite small town romantic suspense authors and she crushed it out of the park with this one. We all knew from the previous books that Colton and Violet’s story could not be over- and I’m so glad Tilly gave them the story they deserved.

For anyone who has ever struggled with infertility, miscarriages, or struggle getting pregnant- this book is going to hit a chord. But I speak from experience when I say Tilly writes it in a way that is genuinely authentic you feel SEEN.

I especially loved the plot pacing. We get history mixed with present but she doesn’t spend too long explaining what went wrong and focuses on the present and moving forward.
We also get that suspense element Tilly is so good at and it got intense there for a bit. 😱

I adore this book completely and couldn’t put it down. Thank you for sharing this with us Tilly.

I love a good second chance romance; there’s just something about the heartache and yearning that pulls me in every single time and Blue Norther did exactly that.

Colt and Violet’s story was both beautiful and heartbreaking. The two met in 7th grade and were each other's first and only loves, growing up side by side, which made everything they went through more emotional. The way Tilly captures their struggles with infertility, the disappointment, the heartbreak, the devastation, felt so real. You could feel how it slowly led to the end of their marriage and Violet leaving.

The time jump takes us almost 10 years after their divorce, when Violet returns home from NYC. That moment when Colt sees her for the first time and realizes she's pregnant broke my heart. I could literally feel Colt's pain in my own heart. Watching him think she moved on absolutely broke me.

Colt though, he is the standard. The way his love for Violet never wavered, the way he still longed for her and the life they could have together was easily my favorite part of the book. And the “my Wife’s” was a total swoon each time.

I also loved the mystery element woven into the story. It kept me on edge trying to figure out who Violet’s stalker was, which added such a good layer to everything else going on.

In the end, seeing Colt and Violet find their way back to each other and finally get the family they both deserved made it all worth it. I’m already so excited for Beau’s story! Thank you to Tilly for the ARC of this book.

This story was so hard for me. I almost didn't read it. I was turned off almost right away when Vi encountered an idiot at the gas station and immediately said that all men were basically horrible and could never compare to the fictional man. As a mom of boys I despise that comment and almost chose to stop reading. But I wanted to see where the author was going. I loved Colt. He was a man in love who never stopped loving, even after Vi left him. But I honest wasn't a fan of Vi. I kept getting irritated with her when something would happen and she didn't want Colt to see or help. She kept saying she was fine or everything was fine. Sorry but it wasn't. And Colt was a deputy! Keeping people safe was his job. I also didn't understand the concept of security in this book when it seemed the stalker kept getting away with things that should have been caught on a camera or with witnesses. Ugh.. I kept reading cause the story flowed. But I honestly was so irritated and know I, unfortunately, do not want to continue with this series.

Ok, I love a good MMC not afraid to show emotion, is protective, gives off the "touch her and die" vibes, loyal, with a yummy mouth, and is down bad. Thats Colt, and then some. Do you remember the phrase "all that and a bag of chips"? Well that's him!

Violet hurt my heart because I've felt some of that pain she had to deal with. So I can understand where she was coming from, to an extent. I liked her. I had an idea for who her stalker was about halfway through the book, and I was right. I was cheering for Colt and yelling GET HIM!

I cannot wait for the next book about Beau and Birdie. 😍

👢 Lines:
Darlin', its the truth. Just because I set you free, doesn't mean I don't pray every damn day that you'll return to me.

It's always been you. And it always will be.

Actually, I read all the same books she does. Its like a road map to how she loves and wants to be loved.

Excuse you? I'm older, too. Older is wise. Older is understanding. Older is hot.

WOW. This story was a fucking journey. That prologue was painful as hell, please heed the TWs especially if you are struggling with infertility 🥲

Violet and Colt have my whole heart! These two weathered manny tough storms together when they were married and after almost a decade apart, they are back in each other’s orbit because Violet is in danger and also pregnant as hell.

Watching these two heal together and also seeing them being vulnerable in their mistakes was so beautiful. But seeing these two become parents was perfection. And omg the suspense?!! I feel proud in knowing who the bad person was but I couldn’t have predicted what they were going to do when things got bad at the end—I WAS STRESSING.

I am so excited to read more from Tilly and continue on with this series!!

Also pls more hot 40 something men with salt and pepper hair and reading glasses PLEASE 😛😛😛😛

Blue Norther 🩵🤰🏼💍

My first time reading Tilly's book and I completely fell in love with her writing!!! You all know how much I love pregnancy tropes and this book was absolutely perfect, I devoured it in a single day!!

Colt… what an incredible man. The way he loves so fiercely and passionately, how he spent every single day of the last seven years waiting for Violet, loving her, thinking about her, longing for the day she would come back to him, all while tattooing her onto his skin and reading every single book she wrote. He's everything.

Violet, my girl. I empathized with her so deeply. It broke my heart reading about all the pain, grief, and loss she had to go through. How after everything she felt so lost and disconnected from herself; and then seeing the way years later she comes back stronger, more confident, fully owning who she is and becoming everything she once dreamed of being… it’s beautiful and so moving.

I loved the way Tilly handles infertility and loss with such sensitivity and compassion that it’s impossible not to get emotional.

Colt and Violet have such a long road to find their way back to each other again. They’re not the same people anymore, time changed them, but the one thing that never changed was how—even after almost a decade apart—they still remained each other’s safe place, and how the love they shared (through both joy and heartbreak) was still completely intact.

I'm so excited for Beau and Birdie's book! 🩵

Tilly Colson writes ANOTHER five star winner!!! Blue Norther takes us back to our beloved small town in Texas and follows Colt and his ex-wife Violet…who’s love story is definitely NOT over. Years after their divorce, Violet comes back home with several secrets, both good and bad.

Full of lots of second chances, yearning, and heartache, Blue Norther was a fast-paced read that I was flying through. The “it’s always been you” vibes were on every page and I was EATING it up! I also loved seeing all the familiar faces from the Silver Springs series 💙

I binge read this in one night! Such a sweet, lovely, heartfelt and emotional story, about healing, second chances and a grumpy sheriff deputy who would go to the ends of the earth to protect her. How it’s always been you for each of them, how they made their way back to each other.

I devoured this book! Colt and Violet were just perfection. When you look up “it’s always been you” in the trope dictionary, this book should be one of the top examples.

This book was emotional. It was suspenseful. Mind your trigger warnings with this book. It contains some heavy topics. I loved the family aspect of this book, and I look forward to reading Colt’s brothers’ books.

3.75 stars - oh man i really liked the book but 9 years were such a long time apart for them to just get back together without a real conversation. they could have easily reconnected years earlier. so much lost time … but besides that they were soo cute and i loved that they got their happy little family in the end.
