My Favorite Sin: Playing Favorites, Book 2

Rate this book
Ally Hastings is my obsession, the one girl I never should have fallen in love with.

She ran away from me for a year, filled with shame, insisting our feelings for each other are wrong and we can’t give into temptation. No more sneaking around. No more stolen kisses.

Now Ally is back in town, ignoring our past, trying to date other guys and move on from me. I thought I could hate her for the way she ripped my heart out but I’m more obsessed with her than ever. I don’t care how wrong we are for each other, Ally Hastings is mine, I’ll make her see it, and I won’t let anyone take her from me.

My Favorite Sin is a “his dad married her mom” new adult romance. It is book 2 in the Playing Favorites series and can be listened to as a standalone novel. For a more immersive experience it is recommended to first listen to the novella My Favorite Girl.

My Favorite Sin
Playing Favorites #2

by Skyla Summers

Performed in duet narration by Heather Firth & Anthony Palmini

I already knew this was going to be a banger, but I was not prepared for just how hard this book would hit. What a way to end 2025, this was a full-on 6 star read for me.
This is hands down my favorite taboo romance to date. Because the tension and emotional groundwork were already laid so perfectly in My Favorite Girl, I went into this one bracing myself for angst, yearning, and emotional devastation, and it delivered on all fronts. I kept telling myself to slow down and savor it, but I completely failed and finished it in under 24 hours.

The plot, the tension, the romance, the spice, the dialogue, the emotional impact, all of it was a solid 10/10. The obsession, the push and pull, the forbidden feelings that refuse to stay buried… it was addictive in the best way.

And the audio? Unreal.
The duet narration took this story to another level. Anthony Palmini and Heather Firth had me in a chokehold from the opening credits. Their chemistry is unmatched, and the way they embodied these characters made every moment hit harder. The longing, the frustration, the passion, the emotional fallout. This is one of those audiobooks I already know I’ll listen to again and again.
And chapter 34… I had to pause the audio and physically collect myself because my jaw was on the floor. If you know, you know.

The production was flawless, as expected. Blue Nose Audio continues to prove they are absolute pros at what they do.

After the cliffhanger My Favorite Girl left me on, I was anxious to get my hands on My Favorite Sin and see what was in store for Dan & Ally. Let me just say, it exceeded my expectations!

This might be one of my favorite step sibling romances. Despite its taboo nature, there is something so sweet and pure about Dan & Ally’s love for each other. I ate up all of the innocent touches and sneaking around plus the “lessons” left me blushing! This seriously had everything I wanted in it and then some! Ally’s character growth was amazing, she went from shy and compliant, to ready to do whatever it took to be with Dan, their parents be damned. Plus the ending was perfect! I will miss Dan & Ally, but I can’t wait to see what’s in store for the other Blackwood brothers.

The narration was to die for! My Favorite Sin is narrated in duet by Heather Firth and Anthony Palmini. Honestly I am surprised my headphones didn’t melt because this audiobook was HOT! Once again Heather just does such an amazing job capturing Ally’s innocence and soft spoken voice. She also portrayed Ally’s character growth flawlessly. Anthony, whoa! The way he brought Dan’s dominant side to life was amazing. Dan was confident and charismatic but he had it bad for Ally, Anthony portrayed all of those emotions so well! Heather and Anthony took this already amazing story and only elevated it with their incredible performances.

ALC review - Okay but WOW… this audiobook had me completely hooked. Since listening to My Favourite Girl, I have been desperate for this bad boy and it did not disappoint!
My Favourite Sin is messy, emotional, a little taboo, and impossible to stop listening to. The story follows Ally and Dan — two people who absolutely should not be falling for each other, but the pull between them is so strong it hurts. Ally comes back after a year away, hoping time has fixed things… meanwhile Dan is very much still obsessed, and the tension between them is off the charts. Forbidden feelings, unresolved history, and so many moments where you’re just holding your breath like “oh no… but yes.”
And can we talk about the audiobook narration for a second?! Because it is SO good. Heather brings Ally to life with so much emotion — you really feel her confusion, longing, and vulnerability. Anthony as Dan?? Absolutely nailed it. His voice adds so much intensity and depth, and together their performances made the story feel incredibly real and immersive. This is one of those audiobooks where you forget you’re listening and just feel everything.
Overall, this was such an addictive listen — angsty, spicy, heartfelt, and totally binge-worthy. If you love forbidden romance and audiobooks that pull you all the way in, this one is a must listen! (

After listening to My Favorite Girl, the prequel novella that introduces the forbidden step-sibling relationship between Ally and Dan (and ended on a cliffhanger), I absolutely had to know what happened next!

Ally is back from her year abroad, Dan is still obsessed with her, and Ally’s attempts at dating someone else are futile as the chemistry and magnetic attraction between her and her step-brother is as explosive as ever. The character development was a highlight of this book for me. I loved seeing Ally grow out of the pressure to be the perfect good girl and live life for her own happiness.

Performed in duet by Heather Firth and Anthony Palmini, this audiobook brought the heat! Don’t you just love a duet narration!!? The emotions from these two talented voice actors brought this story to life, breaking my heart, and putting it back together in the best way!

FYI, I don’t think you need to listen to My Favorite Girl in order to follow and enjoy My Favorite Sin. Honestly, much of the plot is reintroduced again in this book, making it easy for first time listeners to follow, but it does make for a great appetizer!

Thank you @bluenoseaudio for the #gifted audiobook. I am sharing my honest review voluntarily.

𝗔𝗹𝗹𝘆 has returned from abroad, now a grown woman, and despite the distance she put between herself and Dan, the attraction is intact, stronger than ever. They are aware they should not pursue it, but the heart wants what it wants.

𝗧𝗵𝗶𝘀 second book is steamy. The chemistry between Dan and Ally was so intense that I could not stop listening. The forbidden aspect of their relationship drew me in, and I found myself rooting for them.

The duet narration by 𝗛𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗙𝗶𝗿𝘁𝗵 and 𝗔𝗻𝘁𝗵𝗼𝗻𝘆 𝗣𝗮𝗹𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗶 was excellent and brought the characters to life perfectly. If you enjoy stories of forbidden romance, especially with a step-sibling twist, this audiobook is a must-listen. I highly recommend also checking out "My Favorite Girl," the novella that sets the stage for this book. A big thank you to Skyla Summers and Blue Nose Audio for this listen.

I love a taboo romance and this gave me exactly what I needed! What a ride it was. I was sucked in from the beginning. Their forbidden connection and the tension was just so good! Their chemistry was addictive and that tension was delicious. It was hard not to root for them despite it being forbidden.

Aly struggled with this good girl image and I loved how Dan helped her break free from that. I loved the ending it was everything I hoped for. Their relationship will be one that I will constantly think about! I can’t wait to read the other books in this series!

The audio book was fantastic! Anthony Palmini and Heather Firth were amazing at bringing these characters to life!

ALC Review 🎧

10hrs 30mins
Duet narrated by @antpalmini & @heatherfirthnarrator

Let be real the second I realised they were step siblings, I was locked in.
Headphones on.
World off.
😆🤌🏽

Firstly, the narration deserves its own standing ovation because it elevated everything. Every look, every pause, every “we shouldn’t but we absolutely will” moment hit harder. You could feel the longing, the frustration, the pull between them..it made the emotional beats sharper and the spicy moments… significantly more dangerous to listen to in public 👀

What really got me though was the story itself. This isn’t just taboo step-siblings for shock value - it’s messy, emotional, and layered. Dan’s obsession and Ally’s internal tug-of-war felt raw and real and I loved how the book leaned into the discomfort instead of tiptoeing around it. It’s intense, it’s angsty and I loved every minute of it.

Highly recommend.

Thanks so much to Skyla and Blue Nose Audio for the ALC, all opinions are my own.

The audiobook is wonderfully narrated by Heather Firth and Anthony Palmini. I listened to the prequel before this one, and it definitely adds so much to the story, so I highly recommend reading or listening to that first.
Forbidden love, step-siblings, and pure, obsessed young love. Ally and Dan have a beautiful yet extremely passionate relationship, and their story is truly an emotional roller coaster with lots of spicy moments. I was still a bit annoyed by Ally and some of her actions, just like in the prequel, but I’m definitely looking forward to the next part!

This book did not disappoint!!! The spice and chemistry between Dan and Ally is epic. They just can’t stay away from one another and deny their feelings no matter how forbidden their love is.

She’s not the sweet innocent little girl her parents think she is. And he isn’t just a player like everyone perceives him as. Together they make an amazing couple.

Skyla’s writing sucks you in from the very beginning and you devour the entire book. Read the novella, My Favorite Girl first.

OBSESSED!!!

*ALC Review*

Skyla ma’am you truly outdid yourself with this thrilling audiobook that I absolutely loved every second of it. The way you write just sinks, it’s claws into me and never lets go. I cannot wait to get my hands on the next books. I just know I will be as addicted to those books as I am with this duet.

I absolutely love the chemistry between Dan and Ally. They’ve always had a connection that is beyond compactible. They have loved each other from day one. This is spectacular book went from zero to million in no time. I truly could feel the longing and the obsession between them.

This salacious book made me hot and bothered, made me swoon, made me blush, made me furious, and so many other feelings. This book is hands-down one of the spiciest books I have read and listen to this year. There’s a lot of scenes in this book that will live rent free in my head.

Re Reading and listing to the audiobook was amazing.
Heather and Anthony did such a good job. They both gave Dan and Ally a personality and with their style of using their voices, it was so easy to flow with the story. With these two narrators, it made My favourite sin to a wonderful audiobook and I'm so happy that I could be a part of it, because Allys and Dans secret love is worth the whole 10 h
