“For my Morningstar I would become a monster.”

⛤♥⛤---ARC Review---♥⛤♥

The finale to The Unholy Trilogy was everything I hoped it would be and a fitting conclusion to a story that’s held me in a chokehold since book one. Lucifer and Catalina’s journey has been so consuming that finishing it felt almost surreal; I didn’t know whether to celebrate or grieve that it was over.

“He saw every broken and shattered piece of me and did not back away, but instead took the time to put the pieces back together.”

One thing this book handled exceptionally well was momentum. Although it picked up shortly after book two’s cliffhanger, the necessary context was woven in naturally rather than dumped through heavy-handed recaps. That choice kept the tension high and made the emotional beats land even harder.

“To many, he was a force to be reckoned with, a man of many myths, lies and retaliations. But to me, he was the steady rock in the waves of chaos that was my life.”

Lucifer, in particular, was a standout here. Watching him fully lean into the “burn the world to get to her” mindset was incredibly satisfying. This book allowed him to embody the terrifying King of Hell persona people expect from his name, while still grounding that rage in his devotion to Catalina. It was intense, brutal, and perfectly in character. Catalina herself remained a force to be reckoned with. Her growth across the trilogy, both in strength and self-assurance, was one of the most rewarding arcs I’ve read in a while. She never lost her edge, and seeing her step fully into who she was meant to be made the ending feel earned.

“She could burn this entire world down, turning it to nothing but ash at her feet, and I would still love her.”

The multiple POVs added a lot of richness, especially when it came to exploring the found family Catalina built along the way. Seeing how each character viewed that bond was genuinely wholesome and emotional, even if the frequent POV shifts within a single chapter occasionally felt overwhelming. Emotionally, this book still hurt…but not quite as devastatingly as I had braced myself for. There were definitely tears, especially around the 75% mark when I realized how little story was left, but the balance between pain and payoff felt right.

“She was my home. My sanctuary, and my light. Without her there was only darkness…”

While a few threads, particularly Forseti’s role and her warnings about “the others”, felt a bit underexplored, they didn’t significantly detract from my enjoyment. I also expected more spice given the tone of the trilogy, but the plot was so gripping that I genuinely didn’t miss it. Overall, this was a powerful, emotionally satisfying conclusion to a dark, unforgettable trilogy.

Thank you once again Alana for the arc opportunity! I genuinely love these characters and feel like I am saying goodbye to friends with this final installment. I found that the progression of the plot was continual, the imagery fantastic, the growth of characters was genuine to their profiles and sooo littered with fun nods for the Supernatural fandom! 🐿️ 🫎

Catalina and Lucifer are top tier yearners. Our Lucy dearest is at his finest dark, burn it down form for sure in this installment. "They chose to protect him and allow him to hurt her. So I chose their fate for them."🫶🏻😭🔥 As a found family lover that element within this series always warms my heart, but this one hurtttttttttttt (begrudgingly, so good). "She has a family that would shred apart the world to find her." I have to say also that there is something about the way that women are written in this trilogy that just scratch my brain right. Like yes babe, can we be friends?!

My only qualms were the iron (iykyk) and that there were portions that were redundant, repeating what was stated before just differently, but being an arc there is usually some more editing to come. This slowed me down a bit in reading, but overall did not affect the storyline.

OH MY DARKNESS !!! this book had me enraptured. I couldn't put it down. This was the perfect ending for this series. It was hauntingly beautiful in the way that made you want to cry smiling. Perfect mixture of found family love, trauma healing, action packed scenes that have you pacing while reading, & a MMC utterly obsessed with his lady. 10/10 recommend🖤
