When a hired heartbreaker falls for her target, both their hearts are at risk…
For the past five years, Becca Irving (aka Carmella Jones, aka Karma) has worked as a hired heartbreaker, seeking revenge and justice against men who thoughtlessly hurt the women who love them. She expects her next mark to be just as callous, but Jon isn’t her typical target. He’s a good man with a loving nature and dominant streak that crushes her walls and tempts her into believing love can be real and lasting.
From the moment he lays eyes on the beguiling redhead, Jonathon Ridgeway is hooked. When a sensuous dance leads to an erotic weekend aboard his boat, he realizes he needs more than a brief affair with the complex and tantalizing woman.
But neither Jon nor Becca are who—or what—they seem. Will he be able to forgive her past actions? Can she overlook his? Or will they both be left brokenhearted by the secrets of their past?
“Take control of me, Make me get lost in you…in us. At least for a little while.”
YES!! That is how you feel reading this amazing love story and although it moves fast, you can’t stop or slow down while reading. I fully enjoyed the multiple POV’s of the characters, especially the internal struggle of Becca (aka Carmella) as she battles her inner demons when it comes to her attraction and feelings for Jon. Jon…almost too perfect, but he’s not, although you can’t help but love him. A wild, steamy quick read romance that you don’t want to miss!
This is Alannah Lynne’s story in the Dare to Love World. We are introduced to Carmella (aka Karma) but whose real name is Becca. She has been in the revenge business for a long time that started when she found her sister after she had committed suicide in college. Becca found the boys who humiliated her sister and made them pay. In the present she still finds men and has them fall for her and then she dumps them. That is how she meets Jon Ridgeway.
Except he is not what she thought he was, he turns out to be one of the good guys. They get to know each other and she finally opens up to someone. Yowza, their first time having sex was incredible, really hot stuff and it just improved from there. After a few months of being in a relationship, Becca feels she needs to come clean and tell him about her alter ego. Things don’t go as planned…and you’ll have to read for yourself to find out what happens.
I loved the chemistry between Jon and Becca, totally something I would want myself. Their romance was full of intrigue in the begging, then very wild, then full of so much angst. I highly recommend it!
I received a copy from the author in exchange for an honest review.
The chemistry between Jon and Becca/Carmella was undeniable. The boat was hot!!! I loved the intensity of their relationship and the trust and willingness the two gave one another. There's also Alex Dare that pops up in here. I'm a huge fan of both Carly Phillips and Alannah Lynne. When I first heard about the Dare to Love world, I was excited, but when I seen Alannah was writing a story in Carly world...Christmas morning!

I really loved this short story by Alannah Lynne. I felt like I was right in the story with the characters. I worried, I cried, I smiled. This story had a little bit of everything... romance, intrigue and angst. I loved it.
Alannah Lynne has written a book in a world created by Carly Phillips in her Dare series! Daring Masquerade is a story about Becca Irving who has spent the past five years avenging her sister's suicide by making men fall in love with her and then she dumps them, just like the guy did to her sister. Becca turns herself into Carmella or Karma, each man's dream woman, lures them in and then breaks their heart. Becca's newest potential case is Jonathon Ridgeway, good friend of Alex Dare. Becca cannot find any connection between her client and Jonathon so she decides to start investigating Jon in person. While Becca is at the bar watching him, he notices her and decides to approach her. Sparks fly! This is the first guy who Becca has had any connection with since college. They flirt, play and dance together. He asks her out on a proper date and she accepts. Becca decides not to take the case against Jon and is excited for her date. Jon pics her up for their date the next day and takes her to his boat. What a fun, sexy date! Loved it! Loved all of the little details Jon thought of. After their date, Becca decides to quit her secret life and just be Becca. Jon and Becca were made for each other. Just as Becca was ready to come clean with Jon about her past he finds out. What a great reveal and twist to the story! I loved their happy ending. My only complaint is I wish it was longer.
*I received this book free in exchange for an honest review* This was a sweet sexy book! Oh man. The boat. I'll never look at boats the same. Jon and "Carmella" have totally sexified it for me! Alex Dare makes a few appearances in here, which was cool!
Are there really women who act like karma? Because I totally have an ex I'd love to introduce to her! Anyways, this sexy story would have been a 5 for me, but I felt that Jon forgave her pretty quickly. There was this drama then it was over quick. It doesn't matter though. This is still a sexy dominating story that fits in quite well with the Dare World!
I enjoyed this sexy story by Alannah Lynne. The heroine, Becca aka Carmella had an interesting job and that's what initially led to her meeting Jon. These two had undeniable chemistry and sizzled when they were together. The story was fast paced and flowed quite nicely. The author did a great job with Becca's emotional backstory and you could feel her pain and how it's affected decisions she made. I liked how Becca opened up to Jon and how caring he was towards her. These two were perfect for each other and I enjoyed their love story.

I enjoyed the story, and Becca's past was pretty interesting (would actually love a story about that!). I'm too practical and couldn't buy in to Becca agreeing to a first date like hers and Jon's (safety issues), but even with that, it was a good read and worth a one-click.
Pretty good I guess. It's not my favorite, but it wasn't bad. It's a book to pass time while waiting for another book to come out. Not something you just read if you are looking for a good book.
I ranks up there with the Dare series. I love that Alex was used and gave the story a solid foundation. I look forward to reading more of these short stories.
