Craving Corruption: A Mafia Collection

Two brothers. Two obsessions. Two women who never stood a chance.

THE WATCHER
He watched her for months before she knew his name.
Amy thought he was safe—the IT guy with the warm smile who brought her lunch and remembered her coffee order.
She didn’t know every kindness was a calculated lie.
Didn’t know he’d been hunting her.
By the time she saw the predator behind the disguise, she was already his.

THE MONSTER
She owed him a debt. He intended to collect.
Kayla knew exactly what Elias was—ruthless, cold, incapable of mercy.
He owned her until the debt was paid. She was just a transaction. A means to an end.
She wasn’t supposed to crave him.

Ok, I’m not done reading this, but bear with me as I have notes that I wrote while reading and after.

Notes I had while reading Empire Rises:
I just got to page 322 and now, just now, it’s mentioned this woman is black!?!?! WTF, I’m all for interracial romance, but like one comment is all the representation we’re going to see??? It’s literally book 2. I could not be more annoyed if I tired.

Elias at first just seemed like a hard ass. Given, he’s the top of the Armenian mob food chain so he should be. However, when he calls Amethyst a bitch he just seems like a jerk. In a heartbeat it takes him from oldest son who’s got a heavy weight on his shoulders to dude I majorly dislike. I’d call this a major error on the authors part since his book is next in this collection, and now I’m wondering why I’d even bother reading it.

Ok, so book #3 gives us the answers for who gave Amethyst the money to run and who’s the woman she keeps thinking she sees. However, if the locket has a tracker why can’t they now track her? Like it’s the biggest loophole in the book. Crystal (Amethyst’s mom) already did the hard part. Follow the tracker we know she wears all the time. This has got me so frustrated!

The little inconsistencies really take away from the story. Her being gone 3 months and then later it’s stated it was 4, and then like them going to downtown Zurich to get married and then a lawyer coming to hotel. Ugh! Plus there’s a lot of grammatical a . An editor would definitely push this collection into 4⭐️ read.

ETA: the lack of condoms or safety talk between grown adult characters is stupid. I think authors have a responsibility to portray at least sexual health realistically and responsibly. No condom could be fine if both parties discuss STI testing and pregnancy prevention. The author does neither in the whole collection and then both female characters end up pregnant and ultimately happy. It’s ick and takes away from the story.

Finally finished and this is what I think:
The Empire Rises is 647 pages and boy am I happy they were all together in this collection. I don’t think I would have chosen to read this 3 part series otherwise.

Davit and Amethyst were a good read. I can’t say that I loved them, but they definitely were a good read.

Wicked Debt is the next read in this collection and I’m giving it a try because Elias was mostly pretty decent in the last series. Though he didn’t have that major jerk moment calling Amethyst a b****. However, Kayla didn’t really make an impact on me either way. I’m giving this a shot and hoping for the best.

Wicked debt final thoughts:
So, I’ve finished Elias and Kayla’s trilogy and yeah I could have done without it. Reading 6 books all-in-all for this author just was too much. At times these characters were great but then some of the story just felt phoned in. They’re not bad, but they’re also not good. And the errors abound in both of these trilogies. An editor is desperately needed and could potentially make this collection a 4 ⭐️ read, but as it stands now… 3 ⭐️’s at best.

Craving Corruption

This is a new author for me, but one I will continue to enjoy! I love the fact that the female characters in this last series were not considered very pretty and even called plain and overweight! Despite that the male lead characters fell for them hard, despite being considered very good looking and hot! The two brothers in this series fell for the personalities of the two woman as well as feeling they were beautiful to them. Also, the plot in both stories held your interest to the very end! I can't wait to start the next series.

sooooo long.

Good book, and I appreciate some length in a book, but this boon could have easily been volumes- I stopped before the conclusion part began and was only at 43%. I would have been just as happy stopping after they fell in love and had a baby.
Anyways, good book til 43% but then she lost my attention

Way too boring and slow. Not much of a storyline or interesting characters. Off to my next read, hopefully it’s better

ACTUALLY 6 BOOKS

Mafia and plus sized women! How can you go wrong? Well except for lack of editing. I enjoyed Davit and Amy’s story a little more than Elias and Kayla’s just because I like Davit a little more.
