He’s coaching her love life…and losing control of his own.
Jake Evans knows a thing or two about heartbreak. Recently divorced and raising his four-year-old daughter on his own, the cowboy has sworn off women for good. When a job opens up at a dude ranch in his hometown, he comes running, emotional baggage in tow.
An unexpected bonus? Spending the summer with his childhood best friend.
Shelby Tucker was always better at sinking three-pointers than navigating relationships. With a promising new job on the horizon, her life needs a change. She’s determined to stop sitting on the sidelines while life happens all around her.
First thing to tackle? Dating.
But after one too many cringeworthy moments, Shelby turns to the one person she trusts completely. Jake reluctantly agrees to coach Shelby through the dating world, certain his heart is safe where it is. Soon they’re back to their old routines—placing bets, shooting hoops, and putting Jake’s strategies into play.
Except this time, every touch lingers. What once felt safe now feels dangerous. And the line between practice and something real is blurring fast.
When an accident threatens to fracture Jake’s carefully rebuilt life, he’s forced to confront the one truth he’s been avoiding: the woman he’s never allowed himself to date might be the one he can’t live without.
Cindy Steel was raised on a dairy farm in Idaho. She grew up singing Garth Brooks and Reba McEntire songs at the top of her lungs and learning to solve all of life’s problems while milking cows and driving tractors—rewriting happy endings every time. She met and married a handsome Idaho boy and is the proud mother of two wild and sweet twin boys. Which means she is also now a collector of bugs, sticks, rocks, and slobbery kisses. She loves making breakfast, baking, photography, reading a good book, and staying up way past her bedtime to craft stories that will hopefully make you smile.
Cindy Steel you are my rodeo cowboy queen! Jake and Shelby's love story was the PERFECT culmination of the Pride and Pranks series and seriously...Cindy made the buzzer beating shot with this one.
This book is the perfect amount of sweet, sexy, emotional and heartfelt. If you love sweet romance then you absolutely cannot sleep on this series. I don't know what Cindy puts into her books but they are always addictive and feel like coming home to me.
The Cowboys Game is Jake's story. Its book about two childhood friends who have always found safe harbor and belonging in one another. I loved these characters and having that childhood history just makes it even sweeter. It's a book about taking a chance on the unexpected and embracing life despite how hard it can also be. Its so lovely, had me smiling EAR TO EAR, and woooooweeeeee....it also had some amazing chemistry and kissing scenes to top it all off.
This scratched the itch on the cowboy themed book I was looking for. I mean...these characters literally live and work on a dude ranch, which is one of my dream vacations. Still trying to convince my husband I need a horse.
I digress...
I loved it. Prepare to be sick of me because I will be pushing this story into everyones virtual hands all year long.
*I would recommend reading the Pride and Pranks series in order...they are all so fun and will only make this last book more meaningful.
Cindy Steel could write a phonebook and I'd probably read it. Friends-to-more has never been my favorite trope, but the way Ms. Steel wrote it had me on the edge of my seat. I was there for every witty banter, every lingering look or touch. Jack is a wonderful hero and Shelby is an adorably awkward heroine. I'm sad to see the series end but this book was sooo perfect.
*Thank you to the author for providing me with an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review.*
Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Steam Level: 🔥 (kissing only)
Quick Notes: *Book 3 in a Series *Childhood Friends *Single Parent *Tomboy *Cowboy *Dude Ranch
My Thoughts: This book has been years in the making, and it didn't disappoint! I remember when I first read That Fine Line and fell in love with Kelsey and Cade, so seeing all these characters reunited for one last romance was really satisfying and nostalgic. Jake has always been a fun character. I loved his scheming throughout the series, and it was nice to see him being the recipient of knowing looks, group texts, and some good-natured ribbing. His daughter Sophie was pretty cute, and I enjoyed the father-daughter moments between the two of them. I was so glad he was able to move on from the hurts caused by his ex-wife so that he could get a second chance at love. Shelby was relatable to me in that she wasn't able to believe any guy would really be interested in her. I was definitely that girl until I met my husband, so I really felt for her. I will say that some of her dating mishaps in the beginning were a little too embarrassing, but thankfully, that ended by the halfway point. I like to think most girls wouldn't be quite that accident prone, but it did help set up her situation with Jake. I liked how this book wrapped up the series. Part of me would love to see the twins and Sophie grown up and in their own spin-off series, but I don't think the author has any plans for that. Maybe we can convince her?
Cindy has done it again. He's a single dad and she is his best friend. It's my weakness and bless me, that one scene had me giggling. This had humor, heart, delightful HEAT and it's a new favorite. If you want a closed-door romance to bring you joy and overflowing tension, then this is for you.
THE COWBOY’S GAME by Cindy Steel ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Eeeee!! PERFECT!! You guys. I laughed and had a permanent smile on my face while reading. The had the perfect balance of humor and emotion. I laughed, I swooned, and I didn’t want it to end. The characters are perfect. This book has just kisses but WHEW!! The chemistry is on fire!! I think this is my new comfort read, and I can promise you I won’t read it just once!
Jake and Shelby grew up as best friends. Now, as adults, and back in their hometown, Jake is coaching Shelby in dating for the summer.
Perfect if you like: •Best friends to lovers. •Single dad. •Forced proximity. •Witty banter. •Dating lessons. •🔥🔥🔥 chemistry!
Plot- Reconnected childhood friends to lovers. Single dad. Dating coach. Cute and cozy, sweet romance. Even tho the pacing dragged a little bit for me, I still loved how it depicted the cowboy life. Loved the setting.
Characters- I liked the two MCs. I liked Jake’s sense of humor, although I did recognize that he hid behind it sometimes. I liked Shelby too, although I had second hand embarrassment from her cringy dating awkwardness. It was a bit too much for a 27 year old. The 4-year old daughter was a cutie. The supporting cast played a light role.
Romance- Medium-low chemistry. His pronounced reticence and her extreme naivety took away from their chemistry, but I still liked their funny banter and relationship.
“I’d been trying to show my hand without putting too much skin in the game. Even when I knew what I wanted, I was still scared to take it. Scared to fully take that risk. If we never put words to it, then we still had deniability.”
Yep, this perfectly describes Jake, and even tho I appreciated his self awareness at the end, and was glad he finally decided to quit being a scared coward, it’s also why I was kinda bugged at him by that point. I mean, I get it- he had baggage to work thru, so I understood him, but I was still a bit tired of his character.
Writing - Fantastic as always. Very insightful writing that had a few gems that resonated with me like:
“Hate is a much easier emotion to harbor.”
So true! Hate doesn’t require any effort from a person. It’s the easy road even while it’s caustic and destructive. But to overcome hate and choose another way- now THAT requires effort and inner strength. What a great one-liner.
Content-
Language- Just a couple farm words Spice- clean. Some kisses. Triggers- parent deserts child/family (off page) Violence- No Substance abuse- no Spiritual/religious- no Cover- i like it POV- dual POV, first person. Cliffhanger- No Format- KU
How I rated the series -
Book 0.5 - A Christmas Spark - 5+ stars Book 1 - That Fine Line - 4 stars Book 1.5 - Stranded Ranch - 3 stars Book 2 - Double or Nothing - 5+ stars Book 3 - The Cowboy’s Game - 3.5 stars
COWBOY JAKE!!!! I don’t know how she did it, but Cindy Steel has delivered another all-time favorite. This book was perfection! I finished it melted in a puddle of happiness.
Every bit of dialogue was GOLDEN! So stinking good. The teasing between ANY of the characters and the flirting or “practice” flirting were TOP NOTCH! It all was so entertaining and I couldn’t wipe goofy grin off my face.
Cowboy Jake is so much fun but has some deep hurt that will squeeze at your heart and make you want to give him a big hug. Shelby was so perfect for him and you can’t help but love her innocent sweetness as it’s tested against Jake’s flirting.
I’m obsessed with this book and every character in this series. I loved being back in Eugene, Idaho and the dreamy dude ranch setting. Cindy Steel creates magic on paper with the perfect combination of humor, depth, relatability, and utter swooniness. I LOVED IT!
🔥Romance: Kissing Mild language (In frequent Bible swears)
Thank you SO much Cindy Steel for this ARC copy! I truly have been looking forward to this book for months and that email completely made my entire week!
The Cowboy’s Game by Cindy Steel ⭐️My rating: 5/5 📖Book length: 352 pages ❤️🔥Spice level: closed-door, kisses only (a couple mild innuendo jokes) 🤬Language: some ⚠️CW: death of mother to cancer (past), parental abandonment
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ “Hey, Tuck?” “Hmm?” There was a long pause before he spoke, giving weight to the moment. “You were the best part of my childhood too.”❤️🩹 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
some of my favorite parts: 🌻The family group chats🤣 🌻Sophie🥹 🌻”Before you make me blush”🤭 🌻The hug❤️🩹 🌻“I’ve always liked your curls”🥲 🌻Shelby’s disdain for real bras🙂↕️ 🌻”Do what? Hit you?” “Touch me.”❤️🔥 🌻THE COWBOY HAT SCENE🫠 🌻The love confession😍
••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••• WHERE DO I EVEN START?! By the end of the first chapter, I was hooked. Jake and Shelby have my ENTIRE heart.😭🫶🏻 This book is EXACTLY how you write a childhood best friends-to-lovers story. Their dynamic was so perfectly done; I loved how comfortable they always were with each other, in childhood and adulthood. The banter felt so natural; it didn’t feel forced or too “suave” to seem realistic. Any bystander could see how seamlessly these two worked together. The amount of times I literally was giggling, blushing, and kicking my feet should be illegal🤭 The slow burn build was just delicious❤️🔥
While Jake and Shelby were so fun and easy to root for, ultimately I loved the emotional sides of them the most. Shelby was so incredibly loyal and always had Jake’s back. She knew exactly how to be there for him and cheer him up when he was down. Jake’s heart was so big, but bruised, yet he was always looking out for others. The way he instilled confidence in Shelby was so heartwarming. These two may have grown and changed from past experiences and hurts, but the core of who they were always stayed the same. And it was even more beautiful that the core of Jake and Shelby, flaws and all, was exactly what they fell in love with🥹🫠
I also loved how Cindy touched on heavier topics that can be so relatable to the reader. The way Shelby had to reevaluate her life after college sports was so realistic. The mid-twenties identity crisis is so real!! Her yearning to have a family really hit home. Jake’s desire to protect his daughter and his fear to let people in after being hurt was so relatable as well. So many of us know the struggle to trust after being burned.
Something about the way Cindy writes completely brings her characters to life. After finishing the epilogue, I literally cried. Bittersweet tears, because I felt like I was leaving Eugene, Idaho and this family of characters that had become so real to me. It’s not typical I feel that way after romance books, and I think that proves even more how great of a writer Cindy Steel is!🥹❤️🩹
In conclusion, this book was the perfect ending to this series (even though I’m in denial that it’s over)💛 Jake and Shelby were the epitome of true, grounded, and real love. Highly, highly recommend!!
This is the last book in the Pride and Pranks series. I’ve loved the whole series and this one was cute, but I had a little bit of a hard time connecting with the FMC in the first half of the book. Flirting or dating lesson storylines aren’t my favorite. 🫣 I think they are perfect storylines for older YA books and NA. Shelby came across as a lot younger than 27 at times. Perhaps it’s my age 🤣 I still loved the setting, Jake and being back in Eugene with cameos from most of the other couples from the series! Sad to leave!
Well I don’t think a romcom could get much more perfect than The Cowboy’s Game!
I thought it was the best book of the entire series and absolutely nailed this final piece of the story. It struck the ideal balance of lighthearted, teasing fun with more serious, depth-filled struggles. This could technically be read as a standalone but there is a lot of character building across the series that it does have the greatest impact if you’ve read the previous books.
I have been saying for years that I want to see more female athlete main characters and this definitely delivered! As someone who grew up with four brothers and frequently played basketball with them and their friends I could really relate to her. I may have gone through the process the female main character does much earlier in my life, but I still don’t want any guys to play easy on me in sports 😂.
The dude ranch setting was very fun, there is a strong cast of side characters, there is no convoluted miscommunication drama, and the romance was the most delicious smoldering slowburn as childhood friends who have always had each other’s backs slowly become more.
Trigger/content notes: past parental abandonment. Spice level is kissing and light innuendo.
I can’t recall a time when I finished a book I liked so much that I immediately turned around and read it a second time, but here we gooo! What a delightful, delightful story! I frantically texted my friends about it who HAVE read it to gush, and frantically texted my friends who have not to START reading it ASAP so I could text them afterwards and gush some more🤌🏻😂
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ - Dual POV - Cowboy, single dad MMC - Basketball player, photographer FMC - Childhood friends to more - Cameos from characters in past books - Meddling friends and family in a very small town
✨ a few of my favorite things: - Jake’s character arc and development - Shelby and Jake knowing when to push each other and when to back off - Their banter and flirting - The humor in the book - Jake’s jealousy - Their constant bets and challenges - Making each other blush 😉 - The lucky cowboy hat 🥹 - Him spelling it out for her
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Book 3 in the Pride and Pranks series - this book kept a smile on my face and pulled at my heart strings. It was the perfect mix of real life struggles and growth while also being light-hearted and fun. The characters in the book all look out for each other and also push each other’s buttons which makes for a highly entertaining mix.
I’ve adored Jake since book one and I loved getting to get his story. I loved that it wasn’t an easy one and he had some baggage that Shelby lovingly helped him work through. I also appreciated that lots of friends and family pushed him and didn’t let him stay in his self sabotage. I really enjoyed Jake and Shelby’s relationship and all they learned together.
This is a closed door romcom with one curse and innuendo.
**Thank you so much to Cindy for letting me read this gifted ARC. No positive review was required. All thoughts are my own.**
Ahhhh!! I loved this book! Its part of a series but can be read as a stand-alone novel. Two best friends who have moved on in life, Jake is back in Eugene, Oregon, with his young daughter Sophie, trying to get a fresh start in life since his divorce. He has a hard heart for relationships and has built up a solid wall. When he sees his best friend Tuck (Shelby), who has outgrown her Tom boyishness and is beautiful and clumsy when it comes to dating. I loved the banter between Jake and Shelby. I laughed and admitted to a few tears. This book is right there as one of my favorite books, along with Cindy Steel's book The One With The Kiss Cam.
Cindy Steel is an auto-read author for me, and this book is a perfect example of why. It’s such a feel-good story, packed with laugh-out-loud humor, off-the-charts banter, and the kind of flirty tension that keeps you grinning the whole time. Cindy has a way of creating sizzling, heart-fluttering moments while still keeping the romance sweet and “kisses only,” which I absolutely love.
Along with all the fun, this story also has a lot of depth and emotion. The MMC is a single dad who was raised by a single mom after his own father walked out on them, and that history shapes so much of who he is. The hurt and resentment he carries felt very real, and the journey toward forgiveness wasn’t quick or easy. Watching Jake grow and work through those emotions was sweet to watch unfold.
Shelby was a delight. I loved how she supported Jake through his struggles, and I really loved the way he constantly reminded her how beautiful she was—especially when she struggled to see it herself. Her relationship with Sophie was also adorable and added many heart-melting moments.
And of course, the supportive (and meddling) friend group made everything even more fun. They brought a lot of humor and warmth to the story.
Overall, this was a sweet, funny, charming, and heartfelt friends-to-more romance that left me smiling.
I loved every second of Jake and Shelby’s story. I almost lost it reading this during storytime at the library. A few minutes in I had a permanent grin on my face, and as things escalated I had to use an impressive amount of self-control not to laugh out loud—which would’ve been very weird and slightly embarrassing in a quiet public place. The grin never went away, though, and I couldn’t be happier with how everything played out. Cindy, you’re pure magic!! ✨
4.5 ⭐️ Wow Jake is such a fun character and I loved seeing his love story! There were lots of fun moments in this. It broke my heart to see his pain especially with his daughter but it made it all the more precious. Such a perfect ending to a fun series!!! (This might be my favorite of the series 🤫)
I am obsessed with how this book pulled so many emotions out of me. I laughed and giggled and then teared up. There is depth within this story and I am in awe at how well Steel was able to fit it all in.
Jake and Shelby have this long, tangled history that gives the whole book a soft, nostalgic glow, and I loved watching that friendship shift into something deeper.
The setting adds so much charm. The dude ranch, the family moments, the little sparks of humor that pop up at just the right time. I laughed more than I expected to, especially during the childhood flashbacks, and I felt that warm squeeze in my chest during the quieter moments. It is a sweet, clean romance that still manages to feel full and alive.
This book is so fun while still packing the emotional punch I love. It gets all the stars.
This was such a fun and satisfying end to this series! I loved getting a chance to see Jake have his love story and liked watching how he came to grips with his changing feelings for Shelby.
And per usual, I loved the swoon and banter and tension that Cindy always does so well! This book was just a fun, giddy time.
Book Three in the Pride and Prank series. This is one of my favorite series. I love romance and I love pranks and when you combine them it's magic. Jake was such a key player in the series and I was eager for his story.
Cindy has truly wrecked me for all other romcom authors. Friends to lovers is one of my least favorite tropes and she made me love it by the end of this book.
Jake he enters the story with a lot of emotional baggage. He's closed off and has lost the sparkle he's known for. He also has a four year old daughter in the picture.
Shelby is home for the summer and wants a change. She is used to being dubbed the "friend" in her group of guy friends. So she needs a little help with dating.
Together they make a pact to help each other out for summer. They are childhood best friends who know each other inside and out. It was so fun to see their history. There was teasing, flirting, bets, jealousy, and all the swoony moves. Shelby knew when to push Jake to talk and Jake knew what to say to boost Shelby's confidence.
I really loved how they were there for each other, and were each other's safe place. Through the hurts, the everyday, and the milestones. I loved watching their journey unfold and the moments they shared. This was so much more than a cute romcom. There was depth, history, hurts and insecurities layered throughout the story. It was the perfect conclusion to end the series. 😭😭
Thank you Cindy for the honor of reading this book. I received an arc. All opinions expressed are my own.
She’d been a looker her whole life; she just never believed it.
It was enough to stop me in my tracks. The kind of sight that had the power to completely change my life’s trajectory at one glance. It was her.
The tuck- ins and hugs and kisses goodnight. So much of motherhood was in the details. The small everyday bits. So much of it was in the security of knowing Mom was there.
“I want all that too. You’re the sun, Tuck. My whole earth went out of whack without you. Now you’re here, and things are right again. Wherever you are, that’s where I want to be.”
Okay so when I signed up to be on the arc team for this book, I was actually kinda hesitant, as I hadn’t read any others from this series, other than one of the holiday novellas. I was scared of book 1, which is all about pranks, and pranks make me stressed out. But I thought I could give a nice perspective from someone who wasn’t familiar with the series but jumped into this one as a standalone.
But I ended up reading book 2 in the series, which is NOT about pranks (my anxious heart rejoiced), and it was really cute and I absolutely fell in love with the troublemaking, hilarious side character Jake Evans, and I knew I was going to really like The Cowboy’s Game. Jake had the swagger and teasing that I adore from a good Cindy Steel leading man- see Dax from Rebel Summer and Duke from Kiss Cam. I knew whoever was pitted up against his heart would stand no chance, and I was ready for it.
This book was a delight from start to finish and even snuck in some unexpected emotions and deeper moments within the laugh-out-loud moments and the swoons. Jake and Shelby balanced each other out so well, and the easy friendship they shared in their youth translated so perfectly into adulthood, despite the time they spent apart. I loved that this was a genuine old friends to lovers and not a second chance, and there was nothing that tore them apart in the past except the natural way that life and location cause people to generally drift in and out of each other’s lives. It was so natural to watch them falling in love, and I completely bought into the timeline as we could so easily see their affection for each other that had existed for most of their lives.
The ranch setting is such a perfect one- I always wanted to be a guest at Dude Ranch for some unknown reason- and the way Steel describes the mountains, the sunsets, and the handsome rancher in his lucky hat, made me feel immersed in a place I now really want to go (dude ranch reading retreat? Is this real and who’s coming?). The friendships between everyone are so genuine and the found family between all the couples is what I think everyone hopes to find in this life. Logan’s dad, who is a sort of surrogate for Jake as well, is such an amazing man and you can see the influence he has on everyone on the ranch.
Jake and Shelby were the banter-filled, swoony couple who supported each other and helped the other become the best version of themselves, and I highly recommend this one! While the friend group and couples from the previous books are very much highlighted in this story, Steel does a good job of naturally re-introducing them to us and even provides a little family tree at the beginning of the book so you can learn who everyone is. I think this works perfectly well as a standalone, and also is the perfect finale to the Pride and Pranks series.
Thank you so much to Cindy Steel for the ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review.
This one is for the childhood friends girlies, the second chance girlies, and the closed door, banter-loving girlies. Cindy Steel is a queen and I'll continue to read anything she writes.
Our FMC Shelby wants to start dating, but she can't get out of the friend zone (or her head) with any man she meets because she's too much of a guy's girl. Enter her childhood friend Jake who just moved back into town with his four year old daughter, fresh off of a divorce. They are both working at the dude ranch and have cabins right next to each other. Jake is going to teach her how to get out of the friend zone.
Pick this up if you like: The friend group matchmakes for the matchmaker Neighbors Flirty cowboys Only one horse Dating lessons Small town Single Dad 👀 Banter A rodeo scene 🔥 Inexperienced x experienced with dating
You could read it as a standalone, but probably read the rest! Don't sleep on those standalones.
This was such a tender story between two childhood friends who have gone through a lot and both move back home after years away.
The FMC came across very immature. She was always hitting or punching someone in the shoulder as a way to flirt or joke. I didn't like that she had never been kissed at 27. However, I'm glad she got out of her small town and now she is back coaching her old basketball team. I love that she was competent, but I wish she had a little more life experience.
However, I am and will always be obsessed with Jake!! I love a confident, competent, flirty MMC who will do anything for his friends. I was not expecting him to be a single dad or a sad boy, but it made the emotions and yearning so much more heightened. His character arc was masterful and his backstory and the way he worked through it made me tear up.
Big shout out to Cindy Steel for the pacing and for making this a single timeline story. I really don't like a dual timeline because I don't want to read about teenagers so this was so good. She also has a way to make a closed door book so hot. Read chapter 8 and then scream in my DMs.
All of these are available on Kindle unlimited and The Cowboy's Game comes out on February 18.
This was my fifth Cindy Steel book. I liked all the others well enough that I was waiting for this one to come out. I didn’t love this one. It’s a closed door PG story like her others and that’s fine.
I liked the MMC Jake well enough. No major notes there.
The FMC Shelby was a little too oblivious/naive for my liking. She’s 27, not 15. Despite being beautiful and having several guys interested in her she’s never really been kissed or had a relationship.
She’s essentially on a date with a guy and she finds it hard to believe he was trying to be flirty and make a move. HELLO, YOU’RE ON A DATE 🙄🙄 She says she didn’t know a kiss was coming at the end of the date even though it happened to her a handful of pages before and a kiss is usually what happens in any scenario when a guy wants to walk you to the door…
While Jake did call her adorably naive at one point I’m glad he also called her out a couple times on how oblivious she was. At one point he runs across the rodeo arena and puts his hat on her head and says keep that safe for me or something and yet she still doesn’t know he’s into her/flirting….
And her getting the photographer job over all the other candidates when she’s been taking nature photos for 5 whole minutes was not believable to me
There is just something about a Cindy Steel book that hits differently! This is the last book in the A Pride and Pranks Romance series and while I think it could be a read as a standalone, I would recommend reading the other two books first to get the full experience. Jake decides to move back to his hometown with his young daughter to take a job at a dude ranch after a painful divorce. Although he’s sworn off love, he decides to help Shelby, his childhood best friend, with dating lessons. Shelby has always been the hangout friend so what could go wrong?
I loved everything about this book! Cindy Steel creates banter like no other and also writes the best MMCs. This book is the definition of all the swoon without the spice! I loved the growth of both Jake and Shelby and how much they complimented each other. I’ll miss this series but I’m so happy to have had the best book to end on!
When Jake offers to give Shelby flirting lessons over the summer we all know how that is going to end. Signing a contract that they won’t kiss or fall in love with one another that just sealed their fate!
This story was adorable! There was so much history between Jake and Shelby. I loved how their friendship helped support and heal one another. The lessons and flirting were divine! I laughed out loud at some of their shenanigans, especially how things went wrong before Jake’s intervention. I also loved their busybody friends and their investment in the relationship.
This book was the perfect combination of flirty sweetness and emotional depth.
This book!!!!! It was so freaking good! I mean, I knew it was going to be because hello Cindy Steel, but holy smokes!! I loved Jake so much in this book and Shelby was literally me! Her love of nature photography and basketball spoke to the inner most parts of me.
The romance yall THE ROMANCE IS STRAIGHT 🔥! The banter is always top tier with Cindy but MY GOSH my cheeks were warming UP at so many scenes! The rodeo scene?! GOSH MY HEART!!!
I just loved everything. Every moment. The depth too? Incredible! What an incredible way to end this series! Cindy is right, she really went out with a bang!
This one took me longer than normal to get into, but then I loved it. Great friends to dating romance with a little bit of the fake dating troupe mixed in. I always like this author's stories- I find them endearing and realistic. I also like the way she mixes in ranching and farming with her stories.
Content: Kissing only; triggers with abandonment, divorce, and self-doubt Language: None Religious: No
All the stars! Cindy does it again! I loved this book so much. I don’t know how she continues to crank out these perfect rom-coms but I have found none other that can match her. I don’t even know what else to say. It’s perfection. 👌🤩🥰
