Button Mania describes a dangerous paedophile conspiracy within the British Establishment and includes details some readers may find upsetting.
James Austen has written two well received plays and adapted Oscar Wilde's "Happy Prince" for theatre and schools. He has directed for the stage and acted on stage and television. James regrets that has had too many careers, including that of drama teacher, but most he would rather forget. Although James loves sleeping and can be incredibly lazy, when it comes to writing, he finds it hard to stop, and often writes till he drops. Writing has always been his greatest joy. James has written in many genres, but likes it most when he can sneak in past your rational mind and address your groin directly. James wishes his surname was Brown, because he would rather be bad than literary. Help this poor, posh boy achieve his dream - write to someone, complain, he should be stopped.
i'm about half way through so far and really enjoying the read , this is the first I have read of James's work and I feel I have missed out on something special so I intend to explore his other work, the story draws you in right from the start and makes you part of their world, I haven't read the previous novel but the characters are written in a way that it didn't matter ,although I will be reading it soon ,the story has a quality of reality and magic about it that I am loving, and a lot of things have a connection to things that have happened in my life and it feels very real at times, its a book that you can't wait to finish to find out what happens but you also want to savour the experience, its a book I would return to and read again because I think I would find even more on a second or even third reading.i will say its not in the genera of books that I would normally read but i'm encouraged to explore more its always good to grow .
The second installment of The Quantum Twins by James Austen was a complex story. I saw its key ingredients as a gay love story, family relationship drama, overcoming sexual abuse all with a subtle hint of sci-fi fantasy at its base. I especially loved how he developed Joe's family, intertwining Button's character with Joe's mother. The sexual abuse theme is not for the faint of heart, but is, I believe sadly plausible.
This is the fourth book from Mr. Austen that I have read and enjoyed. If any of the above genres interest you I'd encourage you to give this relatively short read a spin.
