Jace Hawthorne didn’t want to be a hero. The galaxy decided otherwise.
Fresh from a brutal rescue that freed thousands from an orbital detention complex, Jace and the crew of the Revenant are on the run. They’re wounded, hunted, and stretched to the breaking point. But Rising Dawn needs a leader. The rebellion needs a symbol of hope.
Jace’s body is failing him, his nerves rewritten by alien technology that gives him command of an ancient warship at a terrible price. His mother is alive but fading fast. The only way to save her may require trusting former alien enemies, risking deadly betrayal, and pushing the Revenant into the heart of Overlord-controlled space.
Meanwhile, new allies emerge from forgotten civilizations, including hibernating warriors trained for a war they never got to fight. Known as the Future Guard, their resurrection could change everything… or doom the rebellion entirely.
As enemies close in and loyalties fracture, Jace must confront the winning the war may cost him everything he’s fighting for.

Afraid tripping over a few mistakes, calling a she him and the reverse. But awesome story line and not a lot of the filler crap I'm seeing in other writers. Keep it clean and thoughtful and I'll keep reading 🤠
The Revenant and Jace Hawthorne are searching for allies and technology
Jace and crew aboard the Revenant are searching for more Eldra'kaarn technology and weapon caches, hoping to uncover more of the amazing ships like the Revenant to aid them in their fight against the Overlords. They also must find allies to help in the fight. They just might have found both! Jace is not the only one infested with the Eldra'kaarn microbes aboard the Revenant. Shadow has his own part to play against the Overlords and the traitors working with them. More amazing characters will find their way to help. Nonstop up-all-night action keeps the pages burning beneath words dripping with blood and danger. The Rising Dawn must overcome! I can't wait for part 5! This is a great read!
The series "Shadow of War" is a beautifully scripted story arc. In book 4 "Future Guard," Jace Hawthorne and his team find new allies as well as ever-growing challenges. The characters and bonds evolve. There is also a very significant betrayal among the unexpected challenges. Highly recommend as it will take you away to unexpected heights.
This fourth book in an ongoing military-themed, space-traveling science fiction series picks up shortly after the previous one.
Jace, the younger brother of the leader of a rebellion against a domineering alien race, was tasked with obtaining resources for the cause. The mission sounded easy. However, on arrival, they discovered that easy is a relative term.
The author did an awesome job of superbly weaving the subplots while also providing action that was heart-hammering.
