Didymus: The Strange Case of Thomas Fletcher

Rate this book
Thomas awakens in a hospital bed, seemingly a five-year old recovering from a coma with a near complete loss of memory. Everything around him feels disconnected and surreal. His terrifying nightmares, however, are very real. He soon realizes these dreams are actually memories of a past life, when he was 28-year old Air Force Captain Kurt Wilson.
Thomas learns he is the extraordinary product of a rogue scientist’s forbidden biological experiments that resulted in Kurt’s death and re-embodiment as a young child. Thomas’ existence becomes a highly classified secret known only to a very small few.
Thomas struggles to cope with a dual identity, where he is neither young child nor an adult, yet is simultaneously both. But with the help of Dr. Carl Fletcher and his wife Dorothy, Thomas slowly begins to adapt to his strange new life.
Thomas’ hopeful future is soon derailed by a series of disturbing revelations, some of which come from his own emerging memories of his past life. Kurt is implicated in a far-reaching criminal conspiracy that includes kidnapping, murder, espionage, and perhaps even treason.
Only Dr. Fletcher seems to believe in Kurt’s, and Thomas’, innocence. The proof lies among past life memories that might never be recovered. Those same memories might also condemn Thomas.

Very much enjoyed the suspenseful, yet heartwarming story of young Thomas Fletcher. Through clever and engaging story-telling, the author touches on a full range of human emotions as seen through the eyes of a very young man. The story moves quickly with powerful characters attempting to unravel the strangest of mysteries where sci-fi and reality meet. A page-turner to the end.
