Milo is back again, causing trouble in the game world of Genesis.
But, is it only a game?
He has suspicions that things aren't so simple, and needs to dig deeper. And while he does that, he's slowly coming out of his shell. Just a small crack, nothing big. A trip to an underground market of used games leads to making a few friends. He'll need them because things in the habitat are about to get more complex as corporations move in along with organized crime. These people invading his home bring a lot of problems, and Milo loves to solve problems. There will be shockwaves hitting corporations and crime lords, and maybe a little collateral damage.
Family matters, he learned that in Limburger Hollow, and Milo has a new family to protect. He'll do whatever it takes to keep them safe.
He also has an old family who causes as much trouble as he does. He thinks they're dead, and they think he's lost. And the world's largest AI, Wally, wants to know more about all of them. It's hard to hide when you're causing as much trouble as Milo and the Alphabet can cause.
Book 4 of this unique spin on LitRPG featuring an unusual MC you can't help but root for. Featuring plenty of humor, action, thievery, ninja abilities, a detailed world and System, science skills, magic tinkering, item invention, and more originality than you can shake a rat tail at!
You know it's good when you turn to the next page and it isn't there.
Ohhhh! Myyy! You know a books good when your brain keeps wishing that there were more pages, that it's too short! I absodamnlutely love, Love, LOVE this book/series!!! And I have no idea why I thought bk3 was the final book either... all I know was that I loved it too. Milo tends to write out his to-do list and of course it seems impossible. As it includes both of his in-game and his real-life chores. He's gonna be a busy Boy/Ratkin. Because keeping the Hab functional and the people living inside with good air, food, electricity, waste management was purdy much a full-time job. But luckily he'd rebuilt auto-bots and their programming to do a lotta the work for him when he was in-game. Things really got serious when Belinda and her Uncle Victor entered the scene. Can he help Belinda and somehow cut her evil Uncle out, that's som'min he desperately needs to find out quickly! But what about Wally and Ralph, Wally's doppelganger the AI's that have helping him. And the Syllabary caper. Could Milo have family that he doesn't know about? So yeah AwesomeSauce, grab this action-driven litRPG adventure to see what happens?!! Oh and Walrus King write faster! Drums fingers, drums some more... I'm waiting!
Have a couple of quotes:
"He was surprised for just a fraction of a second as his mind struggled to get rid of thoughts of dinner, and dinner argued with him."
“Can I get some coffee first? A lot of coffee? I’m not ready for Ralph without caffeine in me.”
Our hero Milo, a former child slave who was genetically engineered to be a genius, continues to try to understand and solve the real world. He gets adopted by a family and begins feeling an obligation to help them out. They know he's unusual, not well socialized, but he needs them.
He also discovers an interesting person he made in the Genesis game is also in the real world--and she knows him in both places as well. And she's a genius too. And her grandfather Victor, is the one who bred and enslaved Milo.
I really enjoyed this one. The world building outside the game is super interesting. I found myself almost disappointed when he logged into the game (Not that the game world is bad at all, this is just how awesome the story and world outside are.) The pacing for the story is good all the way through, and the writing is above average for self published novels. My only complaint is how long the wait until the next book is released!
The number of references in the title is amazing and it just popped into my head! 😍 So very fun book as the virtual and real world continue to cross connect in Milos life. Milo is the MC btw. Kids playing games while dealing with Russian Mobsters, corrupt corporations and oh apathetic government oversight or the lack there of. Very fun spin on the whole Cyberpunk/litrpg mythos.
LitRPg had become stale for me until I found the Butcher of Gadobhra, which introduced me to Walrus King's world. And I actually do prefer the Tunnel Rat series now, although I'm looking forward to the next in the Butcher series. Up the workers!
Loads of interesting world build and story progress, loving switching between the real world and game and how they connect. Definitely looking forward to more in this world.
⭐️⭐️ i really liked where this story was planning on going and i liked all of the new storylines and characters introduced but the execution of it all unfortunately did not live up to its potential. I'll be saying goodbye to milo for now
I'm really enjoying this series and am greatly looking forward to the next book. The world has been built wonderfully, as have the characters that live in it. This is up there in my top 5 series in this genre.
