Je croyais vivre un rêve éveillé en ville. À vingt-quatre ans, ma carrière d'auteure était en plein essor. Mais un agent vindicatif a tout fait s'écrouler. Soupir. J'avais besoin de quitter la ville, mais je me demande vraiment si je devais m'aventurer aussi loin, au cœur de la nature sauvage.
Kaleb Ruhst a quarante-trois ans, il est bourru comme pas deux, et son corps est sculpté dans le même bois qu'il passe ses journées à abattre dans le parc de Hardmount Valley. Kaleb est indéniablement séduisant, mais il est solitaire, parle à peine, et, à ce que je sache, il ne m'apprécie pas du tout. Beurk.
J'ai beau essayer, je croise sans cesse Kaleb alors que je tente de m'acclimater à ma nouvelle vie à la campagne. Peut-être est-ce le paysage spectaculaire, l'air pur de la montagne, ou l'électricité intense qui se produit à chaque fois que nous nous croisons… mais nos différends s'effacent quand je me retrouve chez Kaleb pour une fessée si bruyante qu'elle résonne dans les vallées.
Très vite, Kaleb m'aide à reprendre mes marques et à retrouver confiance en moi. Il veut que je reprenne la plume et que je recommence à écrire. Et il a tout un tas de règles strictes qui, me promet-il, permettront de redresser la situation ; et si je ne les respecte pas, je sais exactement quelle punition cinglante m'attend.
Mais il n'y a pas que des punitions. Sous ses airs bourrus, Kaleb cache un côté étonnamment tendre et câlin. Au programme : peluches, câlins et lait chaud avant dodo. La seule question est : combien de temps allons-nous tenir avant de céder à la tentation et de finir au lit ensemble ?
Ma vie ne serait pas la même sans un ou deux rebondissements qui menacent sérieusement la possibilité d'une fin heureuse. Et peut-être que c'est tout simplement trop dur à supporter pour un vrai montagnard comme Kaleb…

« Tais-toi », je grogne, échouant lamentablement à ne pas mordre à l'hameçon de Trask.
Il rit. « Allez, mec. Tu craques pour ce garçon depuis qu'il est entré dans la taverne. Passer la nuit dans les bois ? C'est un autre niveau. Tu l'as embrassé ? »
Je lance un regard noir. Trask attend, tout simplement.
« Oui », je finis par murmurer. « On s’est embrassés. Beaucoup. »
Trask siffle doucement. « Et ? »
« Et rien. On y va doucement. »
« Doucement. » Il renifle. « Tu es en train de tomber amoureux de lui, Kaleb. Gravement . »
Je ne le nie pas. Regardez mon café. J'adore la nature, mais rien ne vaut un bon café pour le petit-déjeuner. Je viens ici depuis des années et je ne pourrais pas imaginer un monde sans ça.
Trask prend une gorgée de son café et adoucit son ton. « Écoute. Je te connais depuis toujours. Tu n'es pas du genre à avoir des relations sans lendemain. Si ça te perturbe autant, c'est qu'il est spécial. Arrête de te mentir. »
« Il retourne en ville », dis-je doucement. « Un jour . Il a une vie là-bas. Il écrit. Les histoires d'agent, c'est une chose, mais il trouvera autre chose. Bref. Je ne vais pas lui demander de rester pour moi. »
Trask se penche en arrière, les bras croisés. « Qui a parlé de demander ? Sois honnête. Dis-lui ce que tu ressens. Si c'est lui… s'il pouvait être là pour toujours … ne te retiens pas par peur qu'il te quitte. Laisse-lui le choix. Je sais que tu es le père, mais tu dois lui faire comprendre que c'est à lui de décider. »
Je me frotte le visage. « Et s’il choisit la ville ? »
« Alors tu survivras », dit Trask, un éclair dans les yeux. « Tu survis toujours. Mais si tu ne le dis jamais… tu te poseras toujours des questions. Et je sais quelle issue est la pire. »

An entertaining story about city Little writer Taron, escaping from his agent to a small town in the woods, a place to think and work on his manuscript. He meets Kaleb, a mountain of a man, a woodsman and tree surgeon, a man who gives off Daddy vibes, to Taron’s delight. The two have a mixed start, and Taron soon learns that Daddy Kaleb is not someone to mess around with or cross. Daddy deals out fair, but effective punishments, and Taron quickly learns to follow Daddy’s orders in the woods. Kaleb introduces him to camping deep in the woods, star-studded night skies, lots of fodder for a new book, and growing feelings for this caring giant who looks at him like he is perfect just the way he is. Has Taron found his forever Daddy, and can Kaleb keep his forever Little in the town and surrounding woods he loves? Guess you’ll need to read or find out. (Hint—it’s a Zack Wish story, what do you think. 🤔)
Characters are interesting and easy to relate to. Taron and his buddy Robbie are cute littles, each a handful on their own, together they are a challenge. Kaleb is a firm but caring Daddy, watching out for Taron’s safety while letting him tag along in the woods for his story, yet trying to hold back at first so he won’t be devastated if Taron decides to return to the city. But Taron quickly works his way under Kaleb’s skin, and soon it is obvious he is as smitten as Taron is. Now it depends on the choices Taron makes and the logistics, if needed. World-building in the woods and places in the little town gave good background for visualizing the story events. Taron and Kaleb’s relationship was fairly slow burn, mid-level heat for their spicy times, but it fit well in the story. I do want to know if something will happen with Robbie and Trask, too, so maybe these little friends could be together also. Maybe in another book sometime? Not a long read, but an entertaining one in a new setting for Zack’s books.

Hang on get comfortable you won’t put it down until the last page has been turned. Taron, an author who had been at the top of his writing career until an agent decided to attempt to bring him down, so he decided to take a break, and he headed up to the mountains for a much needed break. Kaleb a grump, gruff, bossy daddy that felt the need to protect and while in town he ran into a young man whom he knew was a little something told him he knew he needed protecting but also something was troubling him so he took it upon himself to get to know him. The magnetic pull was there the moment they met and the more time they spent with each other the stronger the pull between them grows and Taron tells him about the agent who coming after him and Kaleb will handle it but his little boy will have follow all rules that includes spankings, playtime, cuddles but will he stop the meanie agent, will he continue to be the top author, have he found what was missing with his mountain daddy, and have they found happiness together?

Delicious! Taron's a 24 year old author. His fame is on a metoric rise. Then he becomes the victim of an unethical unscrupulous agent, who puts an end to his good fortune. He leaves the city to find his balance and lands a little deeper in the wilderness than he expected. Kaleb, is a 43 year old solitary mountain man. When they meet, Taron is at his lowest. Kaleb, identifies Taron as a Little who needs guidance, discipline and a purpose. Good story about how two men who weren't expecting a complimentary relationship, find their balance in a supportive relationship. Good story, nice flow, totally hot character development. I received an ARC and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Taron goes off to get a much needed break and time to think. Shortly after he gets to the new town he meets Kaleb. Kaleb is guff and bossy. He immediately knows Taron is a little and his daddy side kicks into action. This book is a great way to start a new series and the first book I’ve read by this author and all I can say is I can’t wait for book 2 and to see where the series is headed. This was an excellent read by a talented author.

I liked how they keep running into each other and realize they are prefect for each other. I liked how Kaleb helps Taron with his writing career.

A mountain daddy is ideal for Taron, however he has to get over his ways because Kaleb doesn't play! Very amusing book about the two of them finding their HEA and the changes they find themselves going through. Love the book!.

I enjoyed this Daddy/boy romance. Taron...city boy meeting Kaleb an axe daddy. Their chemistry was off the charts. Age gap wasn't a big deal to me...Taron just needed a guiding hand and Kaleb was the perfect daddy for him. Their journey to HEA was nice. I recommend.

This is the first book in The Hardrock Mountain Daddies series and I can't wait to read the rest. This is the story of Taron and Kaleb. Taron is an author and a little. His current agent is putting unwanted pressure on him and acting unethically. Deciding he and his stuffie Lightening need a break, he heads out to enjoy fresh air and nature. Kaleb is gruff and grumpy. He enjoys being a tree surgeon and spending time in the woods with his dog Racer. He is also a daddy at heart. When he meets Taron, he can see how much Taron needs discipline and guidance. But Taron is only in town for a short while and Kaleb doesn't do anything less than a real relationship. This is their story. The book is written well and is easy to read. I enjoyed watching Talon finding himself again. He slowly rebuilt his confidence with the help of Kaleb. And Kaleb finally found someone who put him first and supported him entirely. He even managed to knock off a few of the rough edges that Kabel used to keep himself safe. I enjoyed this book and am looking forward to the next book in the series.

This is a cute, romantic story. Kaleb doesn't think he needs anyone until he sees Taron. He tries to stay away from him, but something pulls him to Taron. When Taron meets Kaleb, he feels like it's the first time he's seen and protected. I really enjoyed this book.

This book has adventure and lots of heat.
I loved Kaleb and Taron. Fun, adventure and heart, plus spanking . I recommend this book. Truth be told I recommend all of Zack Wish books. Lana Kyle too. I have not read one that didn't speak to me . They are just perfect.
