When “normal” never returns

This is a quiet, unsettling novel about life after a permanent power outage. Rather than focusing on dramatic catastrophe, it explores how people slowly adapt as modern comforts disappear and society reshapes itself. The story emphasizes human behavior, resilience, and moral choices over action, creating a realistic and reflective tone. Thoughtful and atmospheric, the book will appeal to readers who enjoy character-driven speculative fiction that lingers long after the final page.

Love the storyline. This starts off strong with lots of atmosphere. A couple of things that were stumbles for me, were that teo strangers were so easily led away by the main character, and they never really shared a lot about themselves, and also in the middle of the story it seemed a bit slow and repetitive. It is mainly a story about the flares and survival. The end does pick up and get more intense and more interaction with survivors. It is a fascinating story.

This is a realistic speculation about the results of a severe solar flare--in fact, two of them. It was interesting enough for me to keep reading, and then it grew tiresome toward the end. I kept wishing those people had books. It seemed that they had nothing for recreation. The closest thing was a little girl playing with pine cones--one little girl. The ending was way too long.

Too much Deus Ex Machina

Read all the way thru hoping something would happen. But it was repetitive chapter after chapter. In the firetower, supplies just show up as needed. How about a crosscut saw? A usable bow & a quiver full of arrows? I don't know what they eat - mostly it's not mentioned where their food comes from. Sorry, just didn't hang together.

interesting end of things as we know them

This was a fascinating story! Long but did not become boring! It was a real possibility, I guess! And interesting how they survived with Quinn help! Be ready to read a while when you start this!

strength and hope

Was such a good book to read and learned a bit reading it. It’s about survival during a grid collapse and making what you have available work in order to survive. A must read!!
