This book is about Vipers in the church. What is a viper? An article by Britannica states a viper is a venomous (poisonous) snake that has a pair of venom-injecting fangs. There are more than 200 species of venomous snakes. They live in a variety of environments such as deserts, tropical forests, and water. They include rattlesnakes, copperheads, and water moccasins.
A Viper is a venomous, poisonous snake that bites and injects poison into its prey to paralyze and kill it. Why did John the Baptist and Jesus compare the leaders of the Jewish religion which were the Pharisees Sadducees, priests, and scribes to a poisonous snake? Are there any snakes present in the church today?
These are questions this book will answer.
Jesus compares the Pharisees and Sadducees to a brood of Vipers. This is a strong metaphor saying that the teaching of the Pharisees and Sadducees was dangerous, deceptive, spiritually corrupt, and hypocritical. Their teaching spread harm like poison.
These religious leaders appeared righteous outwardly but were corrupt inwardly. Vipers symbolized false security, evil content, deadly influence, and hidden danger.
