I had questions. So many questions. And instead of getting answers, I just ended up with more.

At this point I’m not even sure where this is going, but I’m also not fully ready to tap out yet. It feels like one of those stories that might come together later…hopefully.

Right now though? 🤨

It felt like not much happened throughout this book, but i’m assuming that’s because it’s a duet and the rest will happen in the other book. Not complaining though cause I love her work and will always eat it up

I really enjoyed this story.

I loved Sloane, and the way Storm is so clearly and obsessively in love with her.

I think I perhaps would have liked Lydia too if she was in a different book, or had her own story. Instead she just feels like she’s in the way of Sloane and Storm. And I’ll be really annoyed if it’s Lydia who ends up with Storm.

I’m holding off on a firm star rating until I read book two, because this very much feels like a setup novel. You’re dropped straight into the deep end, fed crumbs, and left to either start connecting dots or get even more confused and I loved every second of it. There’s zero hand-holding, and that constant sense of "this detail could be important" kept me locked in.

That said, I was far more invested in Sloane and Storm than Lydia. While I can appreciate Lydia as a character, her chapters often felt like detours because she's got a wildly different type of storyline and rarely interacted with the other MCs. The switching between two main storylines was jarring at times, especially when I was fully immersed in one thread and not ready to be pulled away.

I'm excited to see what KV cooked up in the next installment!

I'm starving for Storm and Sloane moments. I need them together because if they can't that would be just... sad, really. We all need a lil sunshine 😭😭😭😭 I'm honestly so invested in this universe it's not even funny, because why am I memorising every hint dropped by the characters just in case i manage to piece together some events ? My head hurts but I have some theories and I can't wait to read the second book. Fingers crossed Sloane is endgame, if not what is even LOVE 😩🤞🏼

“She says he’s a good man but he’s not a good person. Part of me wants to find out just how bad he can be.”

Oh sweet baby Sloane, I think we’re about to find out soon when book two comes out! But, holy shit, that ending had me reeling. The BETRAYAL. I know there has to be more to it, but ugh, that was a sucker punch to the gut. I need to know what the eff is going on stat!

I am loving Storm and Sloane’s characters. Storm is so bad, and Sloane is so good. I feel like we might be missing something about Sloane though… Anyway, can we talk about the tension between these two??? *Chef’s kiss* The tension and chemistry is done so damn well. I’m just over here manically smiling at my kindle and internally yelling, “Just kiss already, dammit!!” I freaking love it.

I’m still trying to figure out Lydia. I’m not feeling the same tension and chemistry with Storm compared to Sloane. This first book is definitely an introduction and is setting us up for the meat and potatoes in book two, so I wouldn’t be surprised if this completely changes. Or goes entirely in a different direction. Who knows what KV has in store for us lol. Her plot twists are always wild!

I’m also loving the thriller-ish aspect to this duet as well. The dark setting and the writing has kept me on my toes from page one. Like most of KV’s books, I just want to yell at the characters, “Don’t go off into the dark, bad things happen there!” 😂 I’m SO pumped for book two.

Your heaven doesn’t belong in my hell.

Love love love. This was a perfect way to start my year of reading. This book was SO GOOD, I was on the edge of my seat. Read it at work then when I got home instead of cooking dinner I sat and read the rest of it. In one day. I need more of Storm, Lydia and Sloane. That ending? UGH I need answers and I need MOREEE. Who did what? Why are there so many secrets between the Flynn’s and the Leary’s? February cannot get here fast enough!

This book wrecked me a little. The characters are messy and intense, the tension is constant, and then the ending just yeets you off a cliff. I need the next one immediately.

Storm is a walking red flag and I’m colorblind 🚩

Oof. K.V. Rose really said "how toxic can I make this?" and then doubled down.

Storm is absolutely unhinged, Sloane has zero survival instincts, and Lydia is the literal devil. I spent half the book rolling my eyes at the mess and the other half vibrating because the tension is actually insane. It’s gritty, it’s gross, and I’m already hitting "buy" on the sequel. If you want a hero with green flags, keep walking. This is a red forest and I’m lost in it.

I downloaded this book because I was curious about the love triangle between these three. In fiction, I love reading about antiheroes, toxic relationships, OW drama, etc. Unfortunately for me this book was more heavily centered around the plot than the relationship between these three. I guess that is why it is a thriller rather than a dark romance book. It is a great thriller but that is not a genre I really care about. Not sure yet if I'll read the next book.

This was… not what I expected.

The setting was cool. The mystery was okay. The rest… was boring. The writing and characters were flat. Many parts made me cringe. Too many random tidbits were added. The romance had no build up and felt inauthentic and forced. There was too much mention of babies (one of which is named Lyle) that was entirely inconsequential and that I couldn’t care less about. It was repetitive and felt cold, almost mechanical.

Very much not what I expect from K.V Rose.

I have an inability to not know how a story ends so I now feel forced to read the second book.

There’s definitely a big difference in the books that take years to release vs this. I’ll continue patiently waiting for Sinister and LGD II.

It took me a month to write this review, but since I’ve finished, this story has been hammering in my head since the last word of this book. I honestly can’t even imagine writing something bad for this book, because it was so good. I cannot wait for the second one like I feel I will only live my life in peace after reading the continuation of this book, because the ending was to die for. I’m a huge fan of KV’s writing so people can’t think I’m not the best one to trust on a review, but I’m saying this with my whole heart and soul: this book is magnificent.

Stormy

No no no.. No!! Omg… If you like dark thriller -esque romance, read this. NOW.

KV, if it’s not Sloane… I can’t promise I won’t rip book two in shreds.

Also.. all the nods to other writtings, the absolute poetry of storytelling. Devoured is an easy word I can place with this book.

“Are you a monster, Storm Leary, or are you more?”
This first book of the duet is like the first act of a play and has left me with many questions.
Three main characters (FMC,MMC, FMC) with unique backgrounds, personalities, secrets and they are interconnected in different ways.
KV slowly reveals this world and characters like figuring out an intricate puzzle. As with all her books I always trust the process.
Need Book 2!

4 stars (for now)

This one is so hard to rate since it is only book one of a duet, and it leaves you completely confused and thinking, “what the f*ck?” It is very much a setup for what is coming in Fewer Saints. Thankfully, it comes out in February, and I will probably reread this before then. Honestly though, it is KV (my favorite author) and a love triangle, so I am confident it will easily be a five-star read for me.

This book pulled me in with its gritty edge, unpredictable characters, and the way it balances danger with emotional tension. This book isn’t gentle romance. It blends elements of suspense, crime, and intense attraction into a story that feels like fireworks in the dark. While the writing style reflects the voice of the author’s indie flair, the world and characters have enough depth to keep you hooked right through to the end.

Set in the autumn shadows of North Carolina’s mountains, the story centers around three unforgettable figures: Storm, Lydia, and Sloane. Storm is the kind of character whose reputation precedes him, a dealer with a history that guarantees trouble. Lydia is powerful in her own right, a crime boss whose conscience is as black as her reputation. Sloane is the wildcard, fierce and unafraid of the wolves all around her, even when she shouldn’t be. The way these three collide sparks a narrative that feels raw and real.

What makes this book stand out is the combination of thriller and romance. You’re not just watching passion grow between characters. You’re watching them navigate danger and unresolved pasts while the tension between them feels electric. The emotional stakes feel high because each character carries secrets and scars that shape every decision they make. That gives their interactions a sharp edge, where every glance and every heated moment feels like it could explode.

I appreciated that the romance here won’t make sense on paper at first. Sloane’s connection with Storm and Lydia feels messy and unpredictable, but in the best way. It’s not just instant attraction. It’s complexity, desire mixed with danger, and the sense that each person is trying not to fall while the world around them seems built to push them together. The atmospheric setting and suspense threading through the plot give the story a pulse that makes you care about more than just the heat.

Fair warning: this one is intense, and some scenes lean into emotional darkness more than others. But if you’re into romance that’s layered with tension, ruthless leads, and a vibe that feels gritty and real, For Lesser Wolves delivers an experience that’s hard to forget. It’s a bold start to the Storm’s Duet, and worth it if you want a book that thrills as much as it seduces.

This book starts super weird and confusing. It just throws the story at you without explaining anything properly. We meet Lydia, Solane, and Storm, but instead of slowly building their characters, everything happens at once and it’s hard to keep up.
Storm says he loves Solane, but honestly… it doesn’t feel like love. It feels like straight up lust. I hate when books confuse those two things. In most of their chapters, all they do is think about sleeping with each other. There’s barely any emotional connection shown, just physical attraction over and over again.
Storm is also very obsessive, especially with Solane. But at the same time, he clearly has sexual chemistry with Lydia too. That whole dynamic could have been interesting, but it just feels messy instead of deep. It’s like the book wants a dramatic love triangle, but doesn’t build it properly.
Storm is a drug dealer, and Lydia thinks he drugged her brother and almost killed him. That part actually had potential. Then Storm starts getting threatening texts, and later we find out it’s his father behind everything. His father even killed Storm’s chemist and the chemist’s girlfriend. That should have been shocking and intense, but it didn’t hit as hard as it should have. It felt rushed.
And when the three of them finally end up in the same room together, instead of focusing on the serious stuff that happened, they go back to talking about sleeping together. It just feels like the book always chooses sex over actual story.
The idea of the book is good — obsession, dark romance, family drama, betrayal — but the execution wasn’t the best. It needed more emotions, more depth, and less repetitive lust scenes.
It’s not the worst book, but it’s definitely not my favorite. I might still continue the series just to see what happens, but this one didn’t fully work for me.

Lesser Wolves by K.V. Rose was a dark and emotionally heavy read that definitely delivers on intensity. The writing has a raw, almost chaotic energy that pulls you into the characters’ world, and the atmosphere feels gritty and immersive from the start. If you enjoy dark romance with morally gray (and sometimes morally black) characters, this book absolutely commits to that tone.

That said, this one was a mixed experience for me. While the angst and emotional turmoil were strong, the pacing felt uneven at times, and some scenes seemed to focus more on shock value than meaningful character development. I found myself wanting deeper emotional clarity in certain moments instead of just intensity.

The characters are complex and deeply flawed, which I appreciated, but it also made it harder for me to fully connect with them. Their relationships are toxic, messy, and consuming — which may be exactly what some readers love — but it left me feeling more drained than invested.

Overall, Lesser Wolves has a distinct voice and will definitely resonate with readers who love very dark, boundary-pushing romance. For me, it was compelling but not entirely satisfying, landing right in the middle at three stars.

Lesser Wolves — K.V. Rose

Storm = dark, dangerous, morally gray royalty 🖤
Sloane = bright, hopeful, making questionable life choices ✨
Lydia = cold, unhinged vengeance machine 🚩

Getting Storm & Sloane as mains?? Obsessed. Their dynamic is toxic-magnetic and exactly the flavor of emotional damage I expect from K.V. Rose 😮‍💨

But LISTEN — why is everyone talking in riddles like answers cost money??? 🧩 I get that it’s book one of a duet, but I finished this holding exactly zero answers and about fifty new suspicions.

And the spice… 🌶️
We got buildup. Tension. Promises.
Then the curtains slammed shut like this was a PG-13 thriller. I am confusion. I am betrayed. I am still turning pages.

Still devoured it because the tension + danger + psychological chaos = addictive madness 🫠

Final Verdict:
Dark. Cryptic. Addictive. Suspiciously low spice.
I’m annoyed. I’m hooked. I’m absolutely reading book two. 🐺📖

What a twisted, suspense-filled thriller romance. This book completely pulled me in.

I loved that we really got to dive deeper into Storm, while still getting glimpses of Cortland and Remi.

The tension between Storm and Sloane.. Absolutely thick as thieves — the kind of tension that drives you wild while reading.

At under 300 pages, this book is insanely bingeable. If I had the chance to sit down and read it in one sitting, I 1000% would have. I was hooked!!!!

Let’s be honest — K.V. Rose knows how to write fictional men, because Storm is HOT as hell. 🔥

And that ending… WHAT IN THE ACTUAL F?! I need Book 2 immediately because that cliffhanger left me reeling.

Tropes & Vibes:
✨ Dark thriller romance
✨ Morally gray characters
✨ High tension / slow-burn chemistry
✨ Dangerous attraction
✨ Emotional angst
✨ Twisted suspense & secrets
✨ Cliffhanger ending

Lesser Wolves is part 1 of Storm’s duet. It is packed with nail biting suspense, crime, a love triangle and all the yearning.

Sloane is the definition of sunshine, storm a dealer with no future and Lydia well she is a crime boss with no conscience.

All three walk amongst and keep hidden secrets that are too dangerous to whisper.

This is such an incredible start to Storms duet. It was packed with suspense that had you looking over your own shoulder in fear. Packed with past stories and memories. Secrets that they are all trying to overcome whilst also building each characters story and their connections.

Highly recommend this book to those that love romance with strong suspenseful elements.

Really looking forward to picking up book 2, because that cliffy is big!

🤔 😵‍💫

As Ms. Rose noted in the beginning I am most definitely feeling confused. I think I have some ideas but I’m sure I’ll be wrong lol! I was soaking every word cause I didn’t want to miss anything at the same time trying to piece things together. Spoiler alert… I doubt I pieced anything together and I’m sure that is intentional on KV’s part!! I cannot wait for the final one cause I need answers. I know Storm doesn’t want to involve Cortland but it seems like he needs someone on his side and should at least let him know. Sometimes leaving people in the dark is even more dangerous when they don’t know that they need to be vigilant and aware of potential threats…

This is the first part of a duet.
Storm.
Lydia.
Sloane.
A dealer with no future.
A crime boss with no conscience.
A lost girl with no fear.
Storm is his namesake, Sloane is sunshine, and Lydia wants them both to hurt.
This is a new author to me, and I must admit I struggled to get into this storyline, which is slow paced.
This story is filled with trauma, secrets, betrayal, lies, tension, suspense, challenges, obsession, mystery, and a love triangle, which leads to a thrilling, dark romance, which had me on tenterhooks.
This story ends in a cliffhanger, and there are so many unanswered questions.

Are you confused? Because the twists this woman is laying down, it’s there between the lines. I just feel it. Know it.

She’s honestly the only writer that gives me anxiety because I NEVER KNOW WHAT SHE’S GOING TO DO. That’s a good thing, by the way. 😈

Storm is obviously infatuated with Sloane because she all sugar and spice, his opposite- or is he? The cliffy had me questioning things. Storm and Lydia share a past. There is so much there that is not revealed. Do they even know?

Ahhhhh, gimme book 2.

So KV has done it again and ripped my heart out with Lesser Wolves. My head is a jumbled mess, and I don’t even know who I’m rooting for anymore.

The thriller vibes here are just perfection, and I always can count on KV Rose to deliver a dark, and insane plot, with a man that makes me question my sanity. Honestly women that make me question my sanity, also lol.

I’m dying for book two, but until then I’ll just sit here and try not to combust from the anticipation. Pick this one up. You won’t regret it.
