At forty years old, Cori Wilson packs up her Buffalo winters, leaves her unfulfilling job, and the last crumbs of an eight-year dead-end situationship, and drives straight into a brand-new life in Kalamazoo, Michigan. With her new degree in hand, a fresh start on her mind, Cori is determined to reinvent herself. This means no distractions, no drama, no men. Especially no fine-ass men.
Enter Mace “Macio” Hill, her new neighbor, her unexpected temptation, and the walking, talking definition of a shyt dayum muthafucka moment waiting to happen. The man is trouble dipped in chocolate. His charming smile, dangerously good-looking body, and a revolving door of women make Mace the kind of fine ass man that will have a woman forget her goals, her boundaries… and maybe even her rent due date.
Cori tells herself Mace is the type of man who plays too many games, who can rearrange your edges and your life if you aren’t careful. But when sparks turn into late-night conversations, and late-night conversations turn into chemistry she can’t ignore, Cori starts to wonder if this fresh start includes a second chance at love or a one-way trip to heartbreak city.
As Cori navigates teaching, her new city, new friends, and figuring out who she is beyond everyone else’s expectations, she learns that sometimes the biggest risks bring the best rewards. And sometimes… the things you swear off become the things your heart was waiting on all along.
“Shyt Dayum Muthafucka” is a grown-folks romance about starting over, finding yourself, and letting love in even when it shows up looking like trouble with a smile.
Excellent! Just excellent! I feel in love with Cori and Mace’s relationship. This story warmed my heart. This story made me smile on the inside and outside with each word I read. Mace definitely has B.D.E. I loved it!
I enjoyed this book Cori 40, Mace 34 despite the age I think they met at the right time in life they both balanced each other. Mace definitely had BDE when I heard them sounds from his vent I already knew how he was coming lol.
Can I please just have one of these? I'm not even trying to be greedy LOL just give me one of him and I will be fine for the rest of my life. The way that man blessed the food would have had me ready to clear the whole table! You're eating me for dinner because, da fuq!? I loved everything about the characters. The FMC felt so relatable, like we've all had these feelings at some point in our lives when dealing with a man. I enjoyed the camaraderie of the friend group, and the mother daughter relationship. If you want a really good story with some super solid spice, just dive into this book. A.A. knows what she's doing...
Whew! This was GROWN & SEXY!!! Let’s start with everything I absolutely loved about this book. Mace!! He was a real one, a man’s man and fine!! I really respected the way he moved, no lies, no games, he was straight forward and what you see is what you get.
Cori, I was super proud of her for finally putting herself first, getting out of a 8 year relationship that was going nowhere, packing up moving and getting her dream job AND bonus finding three amazing work friends, these women had me cackling. I loved the four together!
Sigh….okay here’s some things that weren’t working for me and ultimately why I couldn’t give it a 5 star. Cori could hear Mace’s NIGHTLY um…..escapades through her vent since she lived below him and baby he was breaking backs every night……different backs 👀And that’s fine, he’s single but he was definitely flirting and pursuing Cori HARD every time he saw her. When they finally hooked up he had just been with another lady (per the vents) the other day and yet Cori let him hit it raw, without even a conversation, no ma’am not after hearing them carousel of women in and out of his apartment. Then the age gap, it was brought up SO MANY TIMES that I almost dnfed the book, because it’s not even a substantial gap and Cori was bringing it up every second and annoying me. Cori’s obsession with age was ironic considering she was the one acting childish at times.
I loved the ending, I loved the way Mace handled her family and her ex and I’m glad Cori got her HEA the spicy scenes were fire!
This book was a new to me author. I really enjoyed it! Cori Wilson leaves her job as a banker in Buffalo, NY to move to Kalamazoo, MI to live her dream of becoming a teacher at age 40. She meets a 34 year old man named Mace that lives in her building. Mace lives one floor up from her and keep a healthy roster of women, judging by his nightly activities that Cori hear through the vents. After Mace helps Cori move in, they start to run into each other frequently, things shift when one evening Mace brings pizza and wine. They talk and get to know each other and Mace makes is clear that he is interested, however Cori is reluctant due to the age gap. In my opinion, Cori didn’t act like a 40 year old woman. At that point in your life for the most part you stop caring about the opinions of others. She literally self -sabotaged the relationship because she was afraid to admit in front of her family that she developed feelings for a man 6 years younger. Overall I did enjoy the story. The story was a vibe and the characters were likable. I am definitely Team Mace! He stood on business throughou
Soooooo… let me just say this upfront Cori was working my nerves a lil bit, okay?! 😭 She did redeem herself, but for a minute there I was in A.A.’s inbox like, “Listen… her and that pixie cut are NOT safe because somebody bout to get snatched!” HAHAHAHA.
But really, my girl was stepping into a whole new chapter new state, new job, new life. And who would’ve guessed that the fine, younger man from upstairs was about to have her mind (and edges) all twisted up? Because BABY… that man came with pressure.
And let’s talk about Mace for a second because CHILEEEEEEE… Mace was HIM, them, and everything in between. Confident. Direct. Clear about what he wanted. No games, no confusion. So why was Cori hesitating? Honestly… your guess is as good as mine.
But on some real stuff, I got it. She had her own demons to wrestle with and some healing to do before she could fully step into what this man was offering because Mace was NOT playing about her. At all. And when the time came for her to show up and stand on it? Yeah… you’re gonna have to read the book to see how that played out. 😌
All I know is this: I enjoyed this one so much I’m definitely spinning the block for a reread. It was funny, emotional, messy in the best way, and absolutely worth your time.
Cori was just a woman trying to start over. Her only problem she cared too much about what everyone had to say. Mace sweep in like a quiet storm showing her that age would never matter and that when you have love, loyalty and a man who listens and supports you that trumps all. I really loved this story. I loved that it was a almost one side slow burn because Mace was a man who knew what he wanted from the very beginning. I’m not going to lie Cori pissed me off through about 85% of this book. Because “that’s a good man Savanna “ it felt like every one knew but her. He was intentional, he was grown and he communicated. It was crazy to me how she kept talking about age but she was the one who was immature in a lot of the situations when it came to them. My girl got her act right though. Now this is a guide of how a real man is supposed to treat you, please you and show you what he means.
I haven't been able to read for about two months and this is the story that brought reading back to me. It's fun, witty, sexy, genuine, and heartfelt. Mace is that man. He knows who he is and makes no apologies for it. Now Cori got on my nerves at times because she acted like she wasn't 40 with her own mind. She bout to miss out on someone good because of the emphasis she puts on what other people think or say. Other people don't make you feel like Mace do, treat you good like Mace, lay the pipe like Mace, or make you feel seen like Mace. But you're rather shyt on him for other people's sake. I'm glad her mom told her the real. I enjoyed this story because it's about starting over and finding out what and who are truly for you. You can find what you've been missing but gotta stop putting limitations on what you think you deserve. Age is not the determining factor of someone's maturity... That's character and their heart.
I want me a Mace. Like right now. The gap in age wasn’t even that big. I have no idea why Cori put that pressure on herself and almost missed out on ecstasy. Mace is a grown man in every way. Looks good, smells good and a hard worker. He was honest about his feelings towards Cori but when he hears her words, downplaying what they were, he walked away. Everyone could look at him and see his love for her, no shame. It took her mama to tell her not to miss out on the best man for her worried about what people thought. Does she get the chance to make it right? Or does everyone’s perception win out? Please read. It’s goodt!!
Hot, Spicy, and complicating. Mace was a young fine, sexy man. He made me fall in love with him. He has the confidence that a lot of women is looking for not just in the bed, but in the mind . Cori is restarting her life and is afraid of the change. Then come a strong, black male that’s younger than you coming to your life. Ensure you things that no one ever showed you before. I can’t identify with that because we always say we want something new and don’t get it. We’re afraid. What she learned to stop listening to other people and follow her heart. She got what she deserved.
Mace was that nigga! I love him down badddd!!! His age meant absolutely nothing! He showed up and showed out from the very first encounter. Cori stayed playing in his face about his age. But she quickly fcked around and found out!
I loved Cori's teacher friends . They were real as hell with no drama! I'm glad Cori and Mace got there happily ever after. Mace is the sweetest! Their story was amazing!,
Cori packed up and moved ready to start her life over chasing a dream she's had since she was a child. What she want expecting was a fund as neighbor with the stamina of a bull and eyes only for her. What ensures is an adventure that changes not only her life but her perspective as well. This is a steamy read that dares to ask the question... What if we let go of the need to live up to invisible standards?
Ms. Lewis never disappoints. She gave us Mace a young grown man about his business walking in BDE!! He claimed Cori and put the pressure on her. Cori was the typical black woman living life according to society’s acceptance, but not her own happiness. I am glad she finally got out of her own way and opened up to her happily ever after!! Five Stars Mrs. Lewis!!🥰
A.A. Lewis did her thing on this book!!!! It was spicy from the beginning to the end. I love how Mace showed Cori he was fighting for. It is a lot to think about when you date a younger man. Women get a short end of the stick when they date younger. I am glad Cori realized that age is nothing but a number. Mace was able to love her. A.A.Lewis work has provided me great eye-opening things to think about. I am always on the edge of my seat.
I will say, this was a small rollercoaster. Cori almost missed being loved by Mace fully! She is the example of living for others approval. Yes her mom may have said she needed to live for herself but in the beginning Moma was the one that APPEARED to be the one she was trying to seek approval from. Mace stayed solid. He may have been working but while he was gone he could’ve said something! I love a HEA tho!
What happens when a slightly older woman meets the love of her life but is not quite ready for it? Will she lose it forever or will she get her act together & get it back before she loses it forever? Run & download this book to find out what happens when it's the FMC that needs to level up.
Mace may have been very much in bachelor mode but that all changed when he met Cori. The only one who was worried about the age gap was her. In her attempt to downplay her feelings for him, she decided friend zoning him was best. Mace had other planes which didn't stop until he showed Cori that age gap wasn't stopping anything. He applied pressure in more ways than one.
This is the story that women of a particular age can appreciate. A.A Lewis showcased a love that was constant and intentional. As the reader I felt like I was apart of the story. Experiencing every emotion right along with the characters. Oh and she nailed the New York swag completely. Great job Ms. Lewis.
Heart break or disappointment have us believing we don’t deserve happiness or unconditional love. Faith has a way of healing us from pain or sadness we think no one else can see.
Love has a way of breaking down walls built too deep for others to reach and new beginning can play a big part of the healing process.
I really enjoyed this book. Cori and Mace were perfect for each other after she got over the age difference. But like he said age ain’t nothing but a number. Glad for the happy ever after. Definitely recommending. Job well done.❤️❤️❤️⭐️⭐️⭐️🔥🔥🔥
So Mace and Cori been circling each other since Cori moved to Kalamazoo. He showed her that age is nothing but a number. This book was everything and I cnt wait to get into the author catalog
I love me good A.A. Book just as well as the next person. She knows how to keep it in the road. LOL. This was a good read. Love all the relationships the characters had, story plot, and MOST OF ALL THE SPICE IS SPICING!
I loved this book! It was a funny, cute, sexy, good time. MACE! MACE! MACE! He had me from word one! My girl Cori did frustrate me at times but I get it sis that man did seem to be too good to be true. But that was a MAN! This book is well written and grown & sexy but is also a feel good read.
I heard AA say their ain't but one Mace and we just gonna have to share him. Cause why is this man so freaking perfect!? This is how a reverse age gap/ new beginning story is supposed to be written! Cori had to work through some issues while starting over in a new town and career all at once. But Mace, that man was solid and sure from the start.
