Dhruv’s life changes forever when the five senses appear before him, revealing that he has lived many lives... and that he is the Sixth Sense, born to restore balance to creation itself.
But when love and betrayal follow him across worlds... from modern-day Kolkata to the lost kingdoms of another time... Dhruv discovers that destiny is never simple. Every lifetime has left a mark, every love a wound, and every choice, a consequence.
This is the second and final book in the series, following The Sorcery of the Senses.
Fantasy is a genre where you are always in for surprises, but this book kept me hooked with its unexpected twists till the very last page. I never knew the cycle of rebirth theme can be moulded into such a suspenseful yet maturely built desi fantasy world with unique characters and ancient Sanskrit names, giving it a more authentic twist. The central idea of the story revolves around the essence of our life which is to satisfy the purpose our soul is chosen for, and how our choices shape us.
Through this story, we follow the life of Dhruv, a recently-divorced, betrayed and wary man, who is still trying put his life together when all the five senses personified as characters meet him one by one, giving his fragments of one of his many previous births, letting him know and explore more about his purpose. The mystery element of the magic stone in his ex-wife's heirloom ring, the perfect crown with missing stone, and a thrilling epic quest to achieve his purpose to restore balance back to the world sets the mysterious premise of this book, with its engaging narration and lasting impression, even beyond the book's end.
It talks about choices, consequences of action and of support through the way his girlfriend supports Dhruv and a critical moment of face-off comes up at one point in the book where we know of Juthika's interlinked past-life with Dhruv. As more of his past lives surfaces, the purpose becomes clear, and at the end, the victory pays off, justifying the circle of the story and the loopiness of the book title. If you love desi fantasy with mind-blowing plot, this one's for you! I absolutely need to read the first book of this "Sorcery of the senses" series by Tanima Das. loved it.
The Loopiness of Life by Tanima Das is a compelling blend of fantasy and introspection that seamlessly continues the journey begun in The Sorcery of the Senses. Through Dhruv’s quest across multiple lifetimes, the story weaves together reincarnation, mythology, and human emotions with ease. The narrative shifts fluidly between modern-day Kolkata and forgotten realms, revealing how every past life, love, and betrayal leaves an imprint. The author’s imaginative concept of the five senses and the Sixth Sense adds depth to the story while keeping the plot engaging and accessible.
What truly stands out is the emotional weight behind the adventure. The presence of Juthika brings balance and strength to Dhruv’s journey, highlighting themes of growth, maturity, and shared resilience. With its fast-paced storytelling, thoughtful handling of reincarnation, and a satisfying, power-packed climax, The Loopiness of Life delivers a meaningful conclusion to the duology. It is a rewarding read for fantasy lovers who enjoy stories where destiny, self-discovery, and inner strength take center stage.
Just finished reading "The Loopiness of Life" by Tanima Das and reading this magical book felt like moving in circles that slowly start making sense. The story stays with the idea that life doesn’t happen once, and purpose doesn’t end with one birth. Dhruv’s journey is not rushed it unfolds the way real understanding does gradually, through repetition. He is born again and again, not fully aware at first, yet always pulled towards the same responsibility of bringing together two sacred stones to remove evil and restore balance to creation. What i liked the most was the way the book connects this mission with the senses. The five senses appear to him almost like guides, and Dhruv is claimed to be the sixth sense himself, as if his existence is meant to complete perception rather than simply live within it. There is this constant pull in him that he has to complete the task, that his soul carries memories deeper than his mind can immediately reach. The movement of the story from modern-day Kolkata to a lost kingdom of another time adds to this sense of loopiness and mystery . Time doesn’t feel divided it feels folded. The past and present speak to each other, and Dhruv belongs to both. His life as Biswut, wrig , and the journey of that stone all happen not randomly, but for a purpose. Dhruv is repeatedly placed in situations where choosing evil would be easier, quicker, and more practical, yet he holds on to goodness even when it costs him. The final uniting of the stones feels earned not because he defeats evil, but because he never becomes it. By the time the story ends, it doesn’t feel like a conclusion but like a completion of one loop. The book left me with the feeling that life itself works the same waywe return to lessons until we choose rightly. The Loopiness of Life isn’t just about destiny or rebirth it’s about the quiet, difficult act of choosing goodness again and again, across lifetimes, even when no one remembers your past efforts. It reads less like a story i finished and more like one I carry with me !
If one lifetime feels complicated enough, this book dares to ask: what if you had to untangle chaos across many? This book is a wild, imaginative ride through reincarnation, destiny, and shifting realities, and I was hooked far more than I expected.
The author creates a world where past lives aren’t distant memories but living forces shaping the present. Dhruv’s journey moves across timelines, from modern-day Kolkata to mysterious kingdoms filled with forgotten prophecies and sacred stones. The concept of the five senses appearing before him, and Dhruv embodying the elusive Sixth Sense meant to restore balance, is both creative and surprisingly symbolic. It sounds fantastical, yet it feels oddly personal while reading.
What truly worked for me is Dhruv himself. He isn’t some invincible chosen one. He is flawed, confused, sometimes overwhelmed, and that makes him believable. His struggles with love, betrayal, and responsibility echo through lifetimes, leaving emotional scars that influence every decision he makes. Juthika, on the other hand, brings steadiness and quiet strength to the narrative, adding emotional maturity and depth.
The pacing rarely dips. Action, suspense, magical realism, and emotional reflection blend seamlessly. Each reincarnation, each side character, whether from lost villages or ancient courts, feels thoughtfully developed rather than rushed. The quest for the holy and magical stones ties everything together while still allowing room for self-discovery.
Even as a sequel, the book stands confidently on its own. By the time the climax unfolds, everything spirals into a satisfying conclusion that makes the entire journey worthwhile.
For readers who enjoy fantasy rooted in emotion, destiny, and the echoes of past lives, this book is s an engaging and memorable adventure.
The Loopiness of Life is a fantasy novel that makes you believe in the magic of nature. I got my hands on this book a few days back, and now that I have finished it, honestly, there are only a few books that make you feel complete toward the end — this was one such read.
Even though I haven’t read the prequel, I didn’t find anything missing from the story. Tanima Das has great potential in storytelling; her creativity and intricate detailing of the timelines create a new era in your mind. The story flows through lifetimes, and each lifetime makes you feel the emptiness it brings to Dhruv’s mind after finishing one — his regrets, love, and emotions flow through the pages, and readers would definitely connect with him.
What I absolutely loved were the stories of past lives. Both of them are well written; I found those stories unique and highly imaginative. She does not use gibberish lines or anything unnecessary to explain what can be said in the simplest form. The same characters, shown in different lights, strengthen the reader-character bond. My favourite character — Bisut. His idolising someone who doesn’t deserve it, and the betrayal that led to his destined end, makes you wonder if this loop could have ended with just one different choice.
And the best part — you know he is going to be unsuccessful in all of his previous attempts; that’s why he is back in the present life, but still, you somehow get attached to the character in the past life and want them to accomplish it. Anyway, the story is the greatest pillar of the book.
What could have been better? Definitely the character arc of Meher. If a character so strong, central, and fierce in past life stories suddenly starts feeling weak or unwanted, then the author did some injustice to the character. She felt underdeveloped to me (even though this may have been done to force the ending of the book).
Overall... A great read and a book worth keeping on your shelves.
I just finished The Loopiness of Life, and I must say, I will definitely be looking out for more of this author’s work. Lately, I have been trying to read more books by Indian authors, and novels like this make me want to explore even further.
This fantasy novel follows Dhruv, our protagonist, who is going through a difficult divorce. In the middle of life’s hardships, the universe seems to place him on a strange and unexpected quest to find the holy stones and save the world from evil. The story also explores the idea of rebirth and makes you wonder if we are truly on this Earth to fulfil a purpose. It shows how every choice we make can affect the future, almost like a domino effect.
One of the most interesting aspects of the book is how the author, Tanima Das, uses the idea of the five senses. Each sense plays a role in guiding Dhruv on his journey while also revealing glimpses of his past lives. Although this is not a love story, the small peeks of love in the narrative remind us how important it is in bringing balance and meaning to life. The idea of the sixth sense also keeps the excitement alive and makes you curious to know what will happen next.
I did feel that Dhruv’s adventure and journey could have been a little more exciting, especially towards the climax. However, the story still manages to leave the reader feeling satisfied. The writing style is simple and easy to follow, and the story flows smoothly without ever feeling confusing or slow.
One thing I especially liked was the prologue. The author goes the extra mile to provide a quick recap of what happened in Book 1, which was very helpful and thoughtful for readers.
Overall, this was an interesting fantasy read with an intriguing concept. If you enjoy stories about destiny, past lives, and mystical quests, this book is definitely worth adding to your TBR.
If you’ve ever felt like your life is going in circles, Tanima Das turns that feeling into an exciting, mystical adventure that will sweep you away.
Picking up right after the events of The Sorcery of the Senses, The Loopiness of Life continues Dhruv’s journey—a man who is beautifully imperfect but incredibly relatable. Having uncovered his past lives and the mission he’s failed twice before, Dhruv now faces a "looping" reality where the stakes aren't just his happiness, but the very balance of the universe.
In the first book, Dhruv was often caught in circumstances beyond his control. In this sequel, we see him truly grapple with his human flaws. He’s not a "chosen one" hero; he’s a man trying to do better, making his journey all the more heartfelt.
One of the most exciting developments is the introduction of Juthika, Dhruv’s ex-wife. She steps from a supporting role to a strong presence, showing resilience and clarity that give real emotional weight to the story’s high-fantasy elements.
The author has a wonderful talent for creating "alternate" worlds that feel tangible and real. Whether it's exploring reincarnation or bringing the senses to life, the imagery is rich and immersive.
While the storytelling leans more toward "telling" than "showing" at times, the incredible imagination behind the story keeps you hooked. The climax is an exhilarating whirlwind that beautifully ties together past, present, and the mystical in a deeply satisfying way.
"A soulful exploration of how our senses do more than just help us see the world—they help us connect with the echoes of who we once were."
Ideal for fans of magic realism, stories about reincarnation, and anyone who loves character-driven fantasy that delves into the "why" of human existence.
"The Loopiness of Life" by Tanima Das is the second part of a duology. And I highly recommend you read the first book, The Sorcery of the Senses, because there are so many things happening in the first book, and to understand the characters and their dynamics, you should read it. Trust me, you won’t regret it.
The story of the duology is that Dhruv, our main protagonist, is a normal guy living a normal life. Then suddenly, his whole life turns upside down. First, his wife divorces him, and then when he goes to his childhood home to get some solace, he finds an heirloom that discloses his past lives and gives him a task to find a piece of this heirloom and save the world. And we see Dhruv trying to make everything right.
As for this second book, Dhruv’s journey starts in Egypt with his current girlfriend, Meher. And as he solves one mystery, another comes in front of him.
The fantasy, magical part of the book is also interesting. In this world, there are five good senses and five evil senses, while Dhruv himself is the sixth sense in human form. And all through the story, he will meet other senses through the heirloom or in human form, and each is going to help him discover more.
The story is a little bit long, but the pace and the writing would not make you put the book down. The fantasy mystery plot is confusing yet intriguing, while the romance and Dhruv’s character journey are emotional.
I loved reading this book, loved the ending, and I think it is fitting. And I would definitely recommend the book if you like second-chance romance books with fantasy, mystery, and some twists.
“A story where destiny loops back, friendships are tested, and courage rewrites fate.”
The Loopiness of Life is an engaging sequel to The Sorcery of the Senses, blending elements of fantasy, loyalty, identity, and courage into a captivating narrative. The story transports readers into a mystical world shaped by royal responsibilities, hidden truths, and the complex struggle between power and morality.
At the heart of the novel are characters like Bisut Ru and Paklan, whose relationship grows from simple companionship into a bond built on trust and shared experiences. Their journey unfolds through moments of discovery, emotional conflict, and evolving friendships that shape their destinies.
The author skillfully combines imaginative storytelling with thoughtful reflections on leadership and belonging. Through its dialogue and character interactions, the narrative explores deeper questions about loyalty, courage, and the responsibilities of those in power.
Several lines from the story stand out for their depth and meaning. One moment declares, “Pharia is not evil… she rules with a firm hand, but that is the mark of a true ruler.” Another thought-provoking line asks, “Have you ever seen any lady go out into the sea?” a subtle challenge to traditional expectations.
What makes the novel compelling is its balance between emotional character moments and a broader fantasy world. As the story progresses, hidden histories and connections gradually unfold, keeping readers curious about where the characters’ paths will lead.
A thoughtful fantasy tale about friendship, courage, and the looping paths of destiny.
The Loopiness of Life, a sequel to ‘The Sorcery Of The Senses,’ is a book packed with action, suspense, and thrill. For all those who couldn’t read ‘The Sorcery Of Senses,’ the author provides a prologue to help them read through the continuation. Dhruv, the main character of the story, reflects on his previous births and how he had been unsuccessful in obtaining the Holy Stone in all of them! His previous births have been vividly described, with more use of ‘tell’ than ‘show,’ which keeps the narration flowing, makes it easy to read, and helps readers visualize the scenes. The names that the author has chosen for those characters in Dhruv’s previous birth (including Dhruv’s name) are absolutely unique. Through the tales of Dhruv’s previous births, the author has brought out many aspects of social norms and their rigidity. Reincarnation has been handled prudently and fits into the story wherever used. The author’s imaginative power deserves special applause, and putting it into words easily understood by readers is laudable indeed. With Dhruv’s ex-wife Juthika coming into the picture again, things take a different turn. She, as a much more mature female, seems capable of handling things that Dhruv may not have been able to handle alone, in his search for the Holy Stone! The closing is fully power-packed and a climax that weaves multiple threads together, keeping readers' anxiety throughout, till they heave a sigh of relief and celebrate the ending. As a fantasy genre, this book makes for a thoroughly enjoyable read.
The Loopiness of Life by Tanima Das is a beautifully layered conclusion to Dhruv’s story — a novel that blends mysticism, emotion, and destiny into something both imaginative and deeply personal. As the sequel to The Sorcery of the Senses, it not only carries the narrative forward but also gently re acquaints readers with its distinctive universe. Dhruv stands out because he doesn’t fit the mold of an untouchable hero. He hesitates, questions, and falters. That vulnerability makes him feel startlingly real. Watching him grapple with the revelation that he is the enigmatic Sixth Sense — destined to restore harmony among the other five — adds an inventive and symbolic dimension to the story. The narrative stretches across timelines and territories, weaving through present-day Kolkata and ancient, enigmatic realms where fate and forgotten histories collide. This constant shifting between worlds creates a sense of grandeur while keeping the emotional core intact. Tanima Das skillfully balances high-stakes action with introspective moments. Themes of love, loss, and betrayal ripple through multiple lifetimes, shaping Dhruv in ways that feel poignant and earned. Juthika’s presence brings depth and steadiness, enriching the emotional landscape and adding further nuance to the unfolding drama. With evocative settings, a gripping pace, and a climax that feels both powerful and well-deserved, The Loopiness of Life offers a fulfilling experience. It’s a compelling pick for readers who are drawn to tales of reincarnation, cosmic balance, and the lingering imprint of past lives.

Loopiness of Life felt less like a book I was reading and more like a quiet nod from life itself as if it was saying, “Yes, this MESS you’re living in??? Completely NORMAL.”
What I liked most is how it doesn’t try to fix anything. It doesn’t rush to conclusions or pretend that clarity is permanent. Instead, it accepts the LOOP the REPETITION, the CONFUSION, the emotional circles we keep running in. Some days we feel sortedand the next day we’re back to questioning the same things.
And honestly, that felt very REAL to me.
While reading, I kept pausing not because the language was heavy, but because the thoughts were FAMILIAR.
Moments where life feels stuck, where progress feels invisible, where you wonder if you’re moving forward or just moving around. The book doesn’t JUDGE those moments. ((It sits with them)).
There’s a calm comfort in knowing that growth isn’t always linear. That sometimes life loops back just to show us how much we’ve changed inside, even if the situation looks the same outside.
This book reminded me that it’s okay to not have everything figured out that being human is MESSY, REPETITIVE and still MEANINGFUL.
It’s not a book you finish and move on from. It’s one you quietly carry with you especially on days when life feels confusing, slow or strangely familiar.
The journey of Dhruv reaches its final point which delivers complete closure to the story. The work achieves its seamless execution through the combination of fantasy with both philosophical concepts and authentic emotional experiences. The story functions as a standalone novel which includes essential information for new readers to comprehend its main story.
The novel maintains its presence through its depiction of life as a continuous cycle. The present time loop back to previous moments which results in people experiencing their entire existence through their present-day selections which create effects that spread throughout all living things from modern-day Kolkata to ancient mythological realms. The novel presents reincarnation through its actual results which stem from our decisions instead of showing it as an impressive display. Dhruv uses the Sixth Sense as a means to create (ground) fantasy within the act of self-discovery.
The book maintains a quick pace while showing how characters handle essential matters which lead them to closure through their journey of discovering the complete cycle of love and betrayal and social realities. The book presents readers with "fantastical" content which provides them entertainment while also enabling self-reflection.
A story combining fantasy with stories from different time zones and a bit of magical realism. Dhruv, has a long time goal to safeguard the holy stone and a magic stone. The quest for these stones transcends time and is continuing through cycles of births and different lives.
The story takes place in different settings with different characters and fully developed back stories. There are queens, villages, etc. The stories of characters Bisut and Wrig are narrated in a way converging them with Dhurv’s tale. The experiences of each of these characters as reincarnations are portrayed in a nuanced manner with beautiful and exquisite world building.
The author has successfully maintained the pace throughout the tale in each of the installments. The author has given ample space to each part of the tale and not rushed through any segment. The stories depict love, betrayal, hidden motives, magical beings, secret powers etc making the reading experience engaging. The fantasy and magical realism complements the character’s experiences and the stone’s existence nicely.
Though written as a sequel to a book ,this story can be read as a standalone and enjoyed thoroughly. With an underlying theme of self discovery, this is a read for fans of fantasy and adventure.
The Loopiness of Life by Tanima Das is a compelling blend of reincarnation, love, betrayal, fantasy, and self-discovery. As the sequel to The Sorcery of the Senses, the story beautifully continues Dhruv’s journey, diving deeper into destiny and the loops of life he finds himself trapped in. Dhruv, the protagonist, is portrayed with remarkable realism. His flaws, emotional struggles, and repeated failures in his past life make him deeply human and relatable. His desperate quest to find the Holy Stone — after failing to achieve it in his previous birth — becomes the driving force of the narrative, adding intensity and emotional depth. Tanima’s imagination is vivid and captivating. The way she weaves together past and present keeps the reader constantly intrigued. The language is simple yet impactful, making the story flow effortlessly. One of the most interesting arcs is Juthika’s — Dhruv’s ex-wife — whose transformation into a strong and resilient character adds another powerful layer to the story. With its gripping storyline and emotional undertones, The Loopiness of Life keeps you hooked till the very end. Each chapter builds curiosity, making it hard to put the book down. A beautifully crafted fantasy novel that is definitely worth reading.
This was such a fun and surprisingly thoughtful read. The Loopiness of Life follows Dhruv through timelines, memories, and multiple lives, all wrapped in a looping reality where choices matter more than they first appear. He is not a flawless hero and that is what makes the story work. He is messy, unsure, and human, and watching him navigate everything feels real despite the fantasy setting. The concept of the five senses and the sixth sense is creative and adds an interesting layer to the narrative. The mix of fantasy, reincarnation, and mystery keeps the story moving, while the emotional core adds depth without ever feeling too heavy. What I really enjoyed is how the book manages to be entertaining while still saying something meaningful. It is fast paced and imaginative, but beneath all the adventure is a quiet reminder about growth, choices, and repeating patterns in life. The ending feels satisfying rather than overwhelming, like completing a loop and understanding why it had to happen that way. If you enjoy desi fantasy with reincarnation themes and a touch of introspection, this is definitely worth picking up.
The Loopiness of Life is a captivating fantasy novel that immediately draws us into its imaginative world. Although it continues the journey that began in The Sorcery of the Senses, (part 1) the author has provided a helpful recap, making the story easy to understand even for new readers like me. One of the most interesting parts of the book is the exploration of Dhruv’s past lives. Each lifetime reveals something new about Dhruv and shows how his present is influenced by his past decisions. The concept of the five senses taking human form is an innovative, fresh, and creative approach. The narrative takes a mysterious and excited turn with Dhruv's realization that he represents the “Sixth Sense”. The story runs smoothly between different worlds and timelines without becoming difficult to follow it. Juthika’s return brings emotional balance, adding calmness and depth to Dhruv’s character is another strong point. The climax leaves a satisfying impact after connecting all the storylines beautifully. Overall, the book is a fast paced and thoughtful fantasy filled with imagination, emotion, meaningful, and innovative ideas.
The Loopiness of Life by Tanima Das is an imaginative exploration of destiny, reincarnation, mythology, and the invisible threads that bind our choices across lifetimes. I had no idea that the concept of the sixth sense and reincarnation could be this captivating and engaging to read. I truly loved how beautifully the author wrote about it.
Dhruv’s journey as the sixth sense was intriguing right from the start. I loved the concept of the five senses appearing before him and revealing his past lives. What I appreciated most was that Dhruv wasn’t portrayed as perfect, he was confused, messy, and flawed, someone who makes mistakes just like us.
I enjoyed the writing, the world-building, and the mystery surrounding the magic stone. The plot was well-developed and well-executed, keeping the spiritual and mythical elements balanced with emotional depth.
The length of the book was quite long, which slightly hindered my reading experience at times. However, overall, I liked the book and would highly recommend it to readers who enjoy spiritual fiction blended with mystery, fantasy, and mythology.
The Loopiness of Life masterfully continues the saga from The Sorcery of Senses, thrusting protagonist Dhruv into a high stakes quest for the sacred holy stone and an elusive magic stone. Guided by vivid personifications of the five senses:Ghraan for scent, Shruti for sound, Drishti , sparsh and more.these ethereal mentors reveal Dhruv's true essence: he is the living embodiment of the sixth sense, intuition itself. The tale masterfully alternates between Dhruv's present perils and fragmented past lives, unspooling a tapestry of heartwrenching betrayals, forbidden lost loves, tangled subplots, and the ultimate victory of good over evil. Vibrant sensory descriptions immerse you :imagine tasting ancient secrets or hearing whispers from forgotten eras while brisk pacing and accessible language propel the story forward. The author's thoughtful opening synopsis welcomes newcomers effortlessly, bridging any gaps. This fantasy triumph blends mythology, self-discovery, and pulse-pounding adventure, reminding us that true power lies within. A must read for lovers of epic quests!
Tanima Das’s “The Loopiness Of Life” is a novel based on reincarnation, love, betrayal, fantasy, self discovery and emotion. The sequel to “The Sorcery Of The Senses”, the story is a continuation from part one. The main character Dhruv is juggling and falling into the same loop thus trying to find his way out. Tanima has written the character of Dhruv in such a way that he feels humane and we could connect to him because of the flaws he has. The quest for the Holy stone and his unsuccessful attempts in his previous birth gives Dhruv the urge to search for the Holy Stone.
The vivid imagination, Tanima had while writing this storyline is applaudable which gives a run for the enthusiasm and the eagerness to read the book in one go. The language is simple yet powerful. The character of Juthika Dhruv’s ex wife which turns into a powerful resilient one is to read for. With the story lingering between past and present, the book is a wonderful read which will keep you hooked till the end. I really lived reading the book with every page giving a new eagerness. A nice fantasy read for sure.
This is a highly engaging fantasy novel that keeps you hooked from beginning to end. It is a true page-turner, making it hard to put the book down even after you’ve finished reading. The story is richly infused with magic and beautifully narrated past tales that transport you across different places. Each setting is vividly described, and I loved the way the author brought every location to life.
One of the strongest aspects of the book is the way the narrative loops are arranged—clear, well-structured, and without confusion or unnecessary overlap. The plot and characters are intricately woven, making the story both immersive and emotionally engaging. The unique integration of the five senses into the fantasy framework adds depth and originality, setting this story apart from conventional fantasy narratives.
Overall, The Loopiness of Life is a unique and imaginative read that fantasy lovers will truly enjoy. Highly recommended.
The Loopiness of Life is a fun and imaginative fantasy that kept me hooked from the first chapter. Even though it continues the story from The Sorcery of the Senses, the author gives a clear recap, so it’s easy to follow. I really enjoyed how Dhruv’s past lives are explored. Each life adds a new layer to his character and shows how every choice he made—good or bad—still follows him. The idea of the five senses appearing as human forms is so unique, and Dhruv discovering he is the “Sixth Sense” makes the story even more interesting. I also liked how the book moves between different worlds and timelines without feeling confusing. Juthika’s return adds emotional depth and balances Dhruv’s impulsiveness with her maturity. The climax ties everything together in a very satisfying way. Overall, it's an enjoyable, fast-moving fantasy filled with emotion, imagination, and a touch of philosophy.
This was such an engaging read. Our protagonist Dhruv, was an ordinary person untill he discovered he could travel to another realm and talk to the personified version of the 5 senses. His life gained a new purpose after this and also his lovelife took a new turn with his crush turned girlfriend especially since his divorce had affected his happiness. However the revelations from the other realm shows that Dhruv's tryst with his ex-wife is far from over but that's not the only thing he should be worried about, as he is now a soldier of a greater cause.
I really liked the story and it's nod to Indian fantasy roots. The world building is amazing as well as the simple flow of the story. The characters are well written but what really impressed me was that the author has given a short summary of the first book in the very beginning so that the reader can enjoy the essence of this book even though they missed the first one.
This book really said “why live one life when you can have chaos across multiple lifetimes?”
The Loopiness of Life is such a trippy, addictive read blending reincarnation, destiny, and the whole senses concept in a way that feels both imaginative and strangely personal. The story pulls you into Dhruv’s journey through looping lives, past memories, and shifting realities, and it never really slows down. It’s the kind of fantasy that keeps your brain fully engaged.
Dhruv stands out because he actually feels human flawed, confused, and far from a perfect hero, which makes his character way more relatable. Juthika is an absolute highlight, bringing strength and balance to the story while adding emotional depth. By the time the climax hits, everything spirals into a fast, satisfying conclusion that makes the entire ride feel worth it.
“The Loopiness of Life” by Tanima Das is an amazing blend of fantasy to real-life experiences. The book is a beautiful rollercoaster of action and suspense with an amazing tinge of thriller.
The book is a sequel to “The Sorcery of the senses”. The author provides a glimpse to book one in the start to the readers who by any chance skipped the first one.
The book flows between the words seamlessly without being confusing or boring. The book revolves around Dhruv who could travel to another realm to unravel the human form of his five senses.
The writing style is unique with an altogether new type of story. The book just flows and leaves an impact through the lives Dhruv lived. An amazing journey altogether.
Well, it is a sequel to "The Sorcery of the Senses," but the author, Tanima Das, gives the finest prologue, which simplifies the storyline of the second part, i.e., "The Loopiness of the Life." "Dhruv," the protagonist of the story, has lived so many lives, which adds a new layer to his character, as we have our five senses. Now, he feels like he took this birth as a sixth sense.
Every moment of his life, whether it is good or bad, follows him parallelly. The book's seamless transitions between timelines and universes were another aspect I enjoyed. Juthika's homecoming balances Dhruv's impetuosity with her maturity and provides emotional depth.
A breathtaking tale of reincarnation and destiny: Dhruv’s journey across lifetimes blends mythology, romance, and emotional depth. The concept of the Sixth Sense feels original and powerful; every choice carries weight. Thought-provoking, intense, and beautifully imagined from beginning to end. What makes the story compelling is its emotional gravity: every choice matters; every lifetime leaves a scar; every act carries forward. Destiny here is not romanticized; it is questioned, challenged, and ultimately reshaped.
A really nice, enjoyable and imaginative read in the fantasy genre. The story is fast paced and keeps you glued to the novel. It is thought provoking and encourages one to introspect on life's choices, religions and rigid adherence to various customs and practices. The story spans across different lifetimes of the main protagonist and each life is portrayed very vividly and yet it remains linked to the main story. It was a wonderful read and I liked the way it tied the past and the present together.
Such a beautiful blend of fantasy, mystery, and romance. Dhruv’s journey through past lives, destiny, and self-discovery keeps you hooked from start to finish. The unique “sixth sense” concept, emotional depth, and magical world-building made this story feel special and unforgettable. Fast-paced, heart-touching, and totally worth reading. 🤍 ⭐ Highly recommended for every fantasy lover! 📖 The Loopiness of Life – Tanima Das
The book set in today’s modern time takes you to a mystical world where we discover five senses and how they play an important part in our daily life. These five senses are not merely faculties of perception, they are the very essence of our being, the eloquent expression through which humanity experiences and interprets this world and everything in it.
