Her Firefighter's Spark

Rate this book
A dramatic pit bull. A firefighter hiding her scars. One woman who refuses to look away.

Lieutenant Elena Rivera is barely holding it together. Three months after a floor collapse left her with a surgical scar and a shoulder that doesn't work right, she's back on full duty—and determined to prove she's fine. She doesn't need help. She doesn't need pity. And she definitely doesn't need anyone looking too closely at what she's hiding.

Alex has been running past Station 11 every morning for months—and she's noticed the gorgeous firefighter who always finds an excuse to be outside when she passes. When her pit bull Bug stages a full-body protest on the sidewalk right in front of the bay doors, Alex finally gets her chance to talk to her.

One water bowl becomes coffee. Coffee becomes dinner. Dinner becomes a night where Elena keeps her shirt on and Alex doesn't push—even though she wants to see all of her.

Because Elena's scar isn't just physical. She's been hiding for months, convincing everyone she's healed when she's barely surviving. But Alex sees through the armor. And when a renowned artist offers to paint Elena as she really is—strong, scarred, and beautiful—Elena has to decide if she's brave enough to finally be seen.

Her Firefighter's Spark is a steamy sapphic romance featuring a wounded firefighter learning to accept help, a personal trainer who won't let her hide, one extremely judgmental pit bull, and explicit scenes where vulnerability is the hottest thing of all. This is Book 2 in the Station 11 series, where the found family keeps growing and every woman earns her happy ending.

Perfect for fans of sapphic romance with high heat, body positivity, and scars that become something beautiful.

So, the story was interesting, the characters compelling and mostly it was well-written. BUT…..there was a lot of repetition, plot inconsistencies and I am pretty sure it was AI generated. So giving it 1 star. Much better things to read out there by real people.

It's a sweet story, with all but one of the characters likeable. But there wasn't any depth to it. No drama, no spark, and not even a little bit of angst. Sure the body positivity, healing from injury mindset etc are all great. But that's not enough. The writing is repetitive. Many of the dialogues mundane and felt like they were recycled from the first book. I thought the relationship was one-sided with Alex bringing a lot to the table while Elena was well ... the hot firefighter. I couldn't see the attraction beyond that. Oh and Alex was a successful personal trainer - who can't even fry an egg ??? Com'on! It was cute when Iris couldn't make coffee. This felt like an engineered flaw or Alex would be too perfect. I want to give more stars. But it won't be fair to other books that IMHO are worth more.

Eleana is a paramedic and firefighter and Alex helps people injured move again.

Bug is a pug and decides to flop down in the driveway of the fire station where Eleana is co- captain. A helping bowl of water from Eleana starts a story of a beginning. Eleana on a fire run has her making a determination that cause her to rethink the life she thought she could handle. Eleana is injured and thought she could manage on her own. NOT! There is a saying that it takes a village or individual to make things right. Enjoy!

Great book with people who aren’t perfect changing and growing. Always relate to someone who has trouble asking for help. Can’t wait to read the next installment of this great series.

DNF at 30% I wanted to like this book but the editing was awful. I tapped out when the secondary characters names kept getting switched up and Charlie’s mom was now Aunt Liz. Took me right out of the story.

This is a fun series to read, sometimes it hits home, sometimes it makes us chuckle, light and heavy at the same time. This author takes us with her, on a human and fun journey, thank you Ms Chase !
