A LOVE THAT COULD BURY US BOTH.

Four years of silence, two thousand miles, and a love their parents will never forgive.

STONE It wasn’t Hanlon’s fault our parents pampered him while pushing me to the brink. But I still resented it. I left to get out of Hanlon’s orbit, to live my life without having to worry about him. Four years later, we’ve barely spoken until he shows up on the doorstep of my ski patrol office, ready to start his internship. Neither of us is thrilled. It doesn’t take long before my protective instincts kick back in, but so do the lessons I taught him all those years ago. When his independence threatens his safety, I realize my feelings for Hanlon have shifted, creating a problem bigger than any avalanche threatening this mountain.

HANLON My diagnosis left me with physical limitations most people get hung up on. Except Stone. He’s the one person who always made me feel like I could do anything. And then he left, never knowing how much his absence nearly destroyed me. I didn’t ask to be placed at Ricochet Ridge, but as Stone and I figure out how to work together, the energy between us shifts. When he finds out I’m gay, it shifts again, threatening to pull us both under.

THE RISK Their connection is a ticking time bomb. If their parents find out, the fallout will be catastrophic, tearing the family apart forever. But on the mountain, the "rules" of their family tree feel less important than the heat rising between them. Stone remains the only person who looks past Hanlon’s physical struggles to see his strength, creating an intimacy that is as healing as it is dangerous. Attraction isn’t the only danger on the mountain. With each new inch of precipitation, the snowpack weakens, threatening to break free, and while the threat of an avalanche feels metaphorical, the physical danger it poses is paramount.

**I was gifted an ARC Copy of this book**

I was so excited for the third installment in the Ricochet Ridge series, and it absolutely delivered. Stone and Hanlon were such sweet characters—I loved their dynamic, and their chemistry felt deep and genuine from the start.

One of my favorite parts of their story was the way Stone was so protective of Hanlon without ever limiting him because of his disability. It struck such a great balance and made their relationship feel even more meaningful. And Hanlon? Total sweetheart with a sunshine personality… who also takes charge in the bedroom? Yeah, I swooned. Add in the piercings and the slutty glasses, and he was easily my favorite.

Their relationship developed in a way that felt really natural and soft, which I appreciated. I especially loved the forced proximity from their jobs and how Stone pushed Hanlon to step outside his comfort zone while still always looking out for him. Watching Stone slowly realize his feelings for Hanlon were more than brotherly was also so fun to read.

Once they decided to be together, I loved that they didn’t let outside opinions shake them—it only made them stronger as a couple. And that avalanche scene? I was fully on edge when Hanlon went to find Stone. I was completely invested in how it would all play out and rooting hard for their HEA.

I’ll admit, the mom and Logan got on my nerves a bit, but I did like how their roles ultimately reinforced the bond between Stone and Hanlon. I was also convinced Logan and Chase would be next after their hospital room scene… but I was wrong!

The pacing felt spot on, and I was honestly a little sad when it ended. You can tell the author did their research too—the details about living in snow country, safety, and weather conditions were super interesting and added a lot to the story.

If you’re into tropes like stepbrothers, dislike-to-lovers, disability rep, slow burn, soulmates, forbidden relationships, and low angst, you’ll definitely want to pick this one up.

I am not okay. This book grabbed me by the collar, dragged me up a freezing mountain, and then buried me in feelings I did NOT sign up for ❄️💔

Avalanche by Jillian D. Wray is messy, intense, a little dangerous, and completely addictive. Like… I knew it was going to be angsty, but I was not prepared for the emotional landslide this delivered.

Stone and Hanlon??? I’m done. They’ve taken up permanent residence in my brain.

The tension in this book is unreal. Four years of silence sitting between them like packed ice, every conversation cracking just a little more until everything starts to shift. You can feel it building, slow and suffocating, like standing on a mountain knowing something underneath you is about to give way. And when it does?? Yeah. Good luck recovering.

Stone had me in a chokehold. The protectiveness? The internal conflict? The way he keeps trying to shove his feelings into a locked box labeled “absolutely not” while his actions scream the exact opposite?? Sir, please. Be serious. I loved how rough around the edges he was, how he tried to do the “right” thing even when it was eating him alive.

And Hanlon… oh my heart. He’s not written as fragile or pitiful, which I LOVED. He’s strong, stubborn, and fully his own person, but you can still feel the weight of everything he’s been through. The way he sees Stone, the way he needs him but also refuses to be defined by him… it’s layered and raw and honestly beautiful.

The disability rep felt thoughtful and grounded, not just thrown in for drama. It actually shaped who Hanlon is without reducing him to it, which made their connection feel even more meaningful.

And the romance?? SLOW. BURN. Like painfully slow in the best way. Every glance, every brush of hands, every moment of “we shouldn’t” just made it worse (better). The forbidden aspect adds this constant edge of tension that never lets up. You KNOW it’s complicated. You KNOW it’s risky. And yet you’re sitting there like… go on 👀

Also the mountain setting?? It’s not just a backdrop, it’s basically a character. The avalanche metaphor running through the whole story is chef’s kiss. The danger outside mirrors everything going on between them, and it just builds this constant sense of pressure that had me devouring pages like I was running out of oxygen.

And when everything finally starts to break?? Emotional carnage. I was stressed, invested, slightly feral.

But the HEA? Worth it. Completely worth it. I came out the other side emotionally wrecked but satisfied, like surviving a storm you low-key want to experience again.

Stone and Hanlon are easily favourites. No hesitation. No competition. They hurt me and healed me in the same breath and I would absolutely put myself through it again.

If you want forbidden, angsty, slow-burn romance with actual depth and stakes, this one delivers HARD. Just don’t expect to walk away unscathed.

“You’re going to kill me.”
“Nah, I’m going to be the reason you finally start living.”

Stone left home and his step brother, Hanlon, when he was eighteen. A few years after, Hanlon came into his life as a new intern in his workplace and they are now working together while dealing with their strained relationship.

Oh wow, I'm learning things everyday. As someone who lives on a tropical country, there's no snow here so I am amazed with how much science it goes with those working in a ski resort, or even triggering some avalanche to keep people safe.

Anyways, I read book 2 last month and it was a fun to see different perspective of people working in snow and this is no different. This one deals with a much different side of things, with much more higher stakes.

We saw glimpses of Stone in the previous book, which honestly intrigued me. Then I saw the tropes of this book, and I was even more intrigued. Now, I have high standards with the MM stepbrother trope, so I went into this book not expecting much.

Here's the real kicker, this book surprised me in a good way. 50% in, I was just meh with all of it. Sure, there's great banter, there's simmering tension and the chemistry was palpable but I was not really sold on them yet. However, that changed as I go along the book.

I usually have a poker face when reading, like you don't know what goes on my mind. This book made me say WTF out loud, seven times. That's a huge amount coming from me. Safe to say, I did enjoy my reading experience.

Characters-wise, I love both characters especially Hanlon. He's described as Clark Kent and I am here for it. I like Stone as he's the confused demisexual representation which I appreciate. There's history between them that stemmed from childhood so I do understand that they need to communicate to overcome that obstacle, which they did.

The second half of this book was honestly so good. This becomes my favorite part as their attraction became apparent, the higher the stakers were. With them hiding their relationship, the more it became forbidden. Oh to be a fly on the wall on all those scenes because it would've made good drama. I was gasping out loud and having visceral reactions that I love it.

I probably yapped for so long, but safe to say I will be reading the next one. Looking forward to reading more Jillian D. Wray books!

P.S. I also think there's something being hinted here and I was rooting for them to be a couple so I might keep an eye out on that.

This one was sweet and spicy…and fucking stressful too!

I fear the plot in this was juicy af, and idgaf about the stepbrothers being...stepbrothers. I fear that's the whole point, so what if it's a little taboo? Isn't that what we signed up for? Plus, it was pretty clear they were never brotherly. Big boy Stone felt like an only child even in the memories, and Hanlon was 14 the last time he spent any real time with his 'brother'.

Anyway, call me a Targaryen, the way I enjoy this. The tension was delicious, the self-realizations, the giving in, the desire...ugh, so good. Both of them were starved for the other, so the yearning was amazing. I truly loved that they couldn't keep their hands off each other.

Stone was my angel. He was a dick, but he was just confused; he was wondering why he wanted his 'brother' when he didn't want anyone else. His arc with Logan pmo bad, because where did Logan find the AUDACITY?! Anyway, Stone was so misunderstood by his own parents and even by Hanlon at first. The way he was finally happy and was willing to risk everything for Han was my Roman Empire, and I love this man.

Hanlon...brave mf. I was a little reluctant when I read the mild cerebral palsy trope, but I trust Jillian, and thank god I did. He was resilient, independent, feisty, and so fucking sassy. I loved his personality, his glasses, and his look-like-a-bottom-fuck-like-a-god vibe. His devotion to Stone really shone bright there in the end, but I could feel it before the dire moments. He would have sacrificed his relationship with anyone who didn't accept their love.

What a story, Jillian, TAA, beyond grateful for the early copy.

The story of two stepsiblings that will keep you on the verge of your seat every step of the way.
A forbidden connection, a sizzling attraction with so much to lose and at the same time so much more to gain even if everyone finds it hard to see past the surface.
While Stone, is on the outside, a confident strong man, he us actually insecure and struggles with himself and his identity and only Hanlon can bring the best of him, making him feel loved and safe.
Hanlon is, on the outside the complete opposite. He is seen as weak, which is a feeling he hates and fights against and only Stone makes him feel capable and understood.
These two have to fight hard, overcome their fears and insecurities to finally bring out the best in each other, while still protecting and loving deeply.
Honestly, this book surprised me so much. There is family drama, identity crisis, angst, danger, spice, romance and it made me cry, gasp, swoon and completely fall in love with these two strong characters.
Jillian D. Wray gives us an MM romance with so much depth, so much to learn about society, emotional weight and characters who fight to grow and to be able to love without judgment.
She also gives us a third-act that will make you cry like a baby and want to crawl into the pages of the book to help the characters get their HEA.
Thank you for the ARC.

Ahh yes, Ricochet Ridge. My favorite place to return to.

I was so excited to read Stone's story, and this book had me hooked from the very first page.

The tension between Stone & Hanlon is immediate, layered, and so emotionally charged that it's impossible to look away. Their history isn't simple - it's messy, complicated, and filled with years of miscommunication, resentment, and unspoken feelings.

I loved how the story didn't rush anything. The relationship development felt raw and real, with both characters carrying their own baggage and learning how to navigate each other again in such a high-pressure environment. The setting added so much to the story too - the danger, the intensity, the constant push and pull mirrored everything happening between them.

Hanlon stood out to me in particular. His determination to prove himself, while still battling his own limitations, was powerful and emotional to read. And Stone…he's frustrating, guarded, and hard to love at times - but there's clearly so much more going on beneath the surface.

This book is intense, emotional, and addictive in the best way (hell, this entire series is) If you love complicated relationships and slow-burn tension, this one will absolutely pull you in.

Okay I knew I was going to love this before I had a blurb or even tropes. I’ve loved every single book in this series so far but this one right here is definitely my favorite BY FAR. There was so much representation in this book and it made my heart so happy. Not to mention how intriguing their jobs were, I think I loved the scenes of them causing controlled avalanches and testing the ice as much as I enjoyed their actual love story. Hanlon and Stone were everything. Seeing how Stone went from resenting Hanlon for their parents actions when they were younger to learning to truly accept himself due to the support of Hanlon and his feelings for him had me a bit emotional. And ugh Hanlon deserves the very best, going into the field he did so he could protect Stone for once rather than the other way around?! My heart freaking melted. Their story was perfection and I’m really hoping from the scenes we got of Logan and Chase that we maybe get a book of them down the line, they were both such lovable side characters.

What happens when the one person you’re attracted to is the one person you should never want?

Avalanche is the latest in the Ricochet Ridge series, and I hope you are ready.

Stone has been a mysterious figure that works on the mountain throughout this series, and I couldn’t get enough of his gruff personality that turns into putty for the right person. Hanlon is both confident and unsure, but once he knows what he wants, his ability to take charge in the situation will have you melting.

Their story is touching, fun, and scorching hot. The backstory created for Stone and Hanlon will pull at your heart for both of them as they struggle with the situations they experienced. When they meet on the mountain the tension, banter, uncertainty, and longing will have you locked in. The chemistry, heat, and suspense that comes will have you begging for more.

I have loved this series, the storylines, and the characters, and it just keeps getting better.

Grab your favorite spot and snuggle in with Stone and Hanlon as they learn that sometimes the most unlikely can happen.

Ahhhh I love this absolutely sooooo much I swear this series is just absolutely amazing each story keeps getting better. I loved stones and Hanlon’s story there was emotion and fun times and the best banter and chemistry between them was the best. The way stone just snapped back into wanting to protect Hanlon like he never stopped the way he just wanted to care for him was so cute. And Hanlon was just the same he always wanted to protect stone too and they way he was willing to throw caution to the wind and risk himself to save stone my heart man I was so at the edge my seat !!! And the way stone treated him like normal no matter his issues with his CP and didn’t baby him like their parents did that was always what Hanlon needed someone to treat him without careful hands. Jillian has not disappointed and I can’t wait to see what’s in store for the rest of this series!!! I’m not gonna lie tho I definitely need a Logan and chase story!!!!

HOT!
I love that in the work field Stone is the one in control and in charge but when it comes to his love life hes like a lost puppy. But no worries because Hanlon can and will take charge for of that for him.
It's so cute to see how much Stone wants to care for and protect Hanlon as hes suffered his whole life with chronic pain and illness.
I loved reading how strong Stone knew Hanlon is and how Hanlon showed everyone else by being the one to make sure Stone came home alive.
I understand as a mother seeing your son grow up with struggles the way Hanlon did would make you protective and seeing both your s9n and step son fall in love would be hard but the way she acted and stopped talking to them angered me. As a mom I dont think I could ever stop talking to my kids.
I truly hope Logan gets a book and I hope its with Chase

✨ARC Book Review✨

If you enjoy forbidden romance, Jillian D. Wray is your queen 👏🏻✨

This book was so well done! The way I consumed it 😩

It’s about Stone and Hanlon, who are stepbrothers but haven’t been close in years. They end up working together, which forces them back into each other’s lives.

They’ve always looked out for one another, but now they’re starting to notice each other in a different light 👀 Sweat dripping down abs, lingering stares… the attraction is definitely there. Crossing the line has never felt so tempting.

Read this for:

✨ Sexual Awakening
✨ MM Romance
✨ Enemies to Lovers
✨ Slow Burn
