In New Geneva, touch is taxed. One kiss can cost you a year of your life.
Senna Vale has spent her life being compliant—quiet, controlled, invisible on purpose. Until the day she watches Zain Haddar sentenced to die for "emotional variance"... and something inside her refuses to stay still.
She kisses him on the execution stage. Her Ledger band flashes red. The system glitches. And the city marks them as a live trial.
Now hunted through tunnels and shadow corridors, Senna and Zain must survive a system designed to punish desire. In a world where love is the ultimate anomaly, their forbidden bond could topple everything—or destroy them both.
This book quickly became one of my new favorites. The idea that something so small as touch could have such a massive influence on your life in a negative way was just so enticingly thought provoking I couldn’t put the book down. Having to report those who don’t comply to earn “safety credit” and the idea that love is assigned just ups the stakes in this world. I really enjoyed the writing, characterization and development, and the tension in this. Fantastic!
