As kids, Lily and Diana were inseparable, but these days, they couldn’t be further apart.
Lily’s an outcast, who spends her days getting high and drawing in her notebook from the comfort of her trailer. Diana is the golden girl. Rich, beautiful, perfect.
When the community garden where they spent so much of their childhood is set to be demolished, they’re forced to put their differences aside and work together to save it. But something simmers beneath all of the resentment, something neither of them dare to name.
What begins as stolen moments between former best friends turns into so much more. And when Lily would give up everything for the chance to be together, she has to decide if it’s worth risking her heart for someone who may never choose her back.
Because it’s the 1970s… And the world doesn’t have a place for girls like them.

The beginning confused me a bit. They were best friends and Diana dumps Lily at the start of high school. Then, cuts to May (No Date) and what turns out to be end of high school. Diana was either innocently naive with her actions due to the time (1970s) or a complete self absorbed a hole. I’m thinking a hole! Lily was a tough girl but not when it mattered. Lily gave way too easily into Diana’s needs. Diana just took and the majority of the time without asking. I hope Lily turned her life into something good because it was a crappy one. Her mother was a mess. Random, Lily should have been working because from what I read, they graduated high school and she was focusing on rebuilding a garden? She should have been focusing on working and trying to make something of herself so that she could get out and be independent from her mother. I’m glad she had one good friend. It was engaging. I want to know what happens next.
