First book of 2026, and it was a BLAST.

I love Eliot Grayson's Mismatched Mates universe so much, and this novella was the perfect way to say goodbye to this universe and these wonderful, wonderful protagonists.
I'll be honest, I would have loved more Jared and Calder moments, but that's just me being greedy about my favourite couple of this series. Maybe I need to re-read their book now.

I loved the found family moments, I loved the romance and the steam, and the humour as usual was top-notch. I highly recommend.

I don't want this series to end!

I was really happy when Eliot dropped this book seemingly out of nowhere!

I love the Mismatched Mates series, it's always had the right amount of angst, humour and paranormal goodness to appeal to my tastes.

Here we get another check in with the Armitage pack of misfits who've found their perfect match when Nate and Calder discover a crashed car.

Loved how this went and that we got to spend time with each pair, as well as getting a visit from Angelo.

Total fanservice, but really well done, and I am in for it. The couples of her 3 Armitage books have to deal with a surprise problem over new year, so plenty of bickering, banter, and just general epilogue happyness. We finally get a bit of Calder's PoV so if you are a fan of Lost and Bound this is particularly good, revisits that and adds his PoV. That was my favorite part.

But it reconfirmed something to me, a little Nate (from The Alpha's Warlock) goes a long long long way, even when bickering with Arik. I am not a real fan, clearly, but Nate is just exhausting to read about. But it was still worth it for me, for the other characters.

The way the story is interlinked, the pace, the writing, it is all really really well done. It's fanservice with a plot, with a kind of emotional development thrown in (though that is not the main focus), and really well done. It will probably be meaningless if you do not know these characters already though...

You need to have read the Mismatched Mates series to enjoy this. There are numerous names or things alluded to. I am so, SO grateful to Eliot Grayson for this book. Nate and Ian, Arik and Matthew, Jared and Calder. It was wonderful to see them thriving. I love these guys. Nate still has his mugs and sharpies, a dangerous combo. Dear lord, Matthew being brave enough to say that Arik and Nate are, gasp, best friends. Everyone knew but them. Oh, the snarky irony. They are funny AF.

The Armitage Pack has heart and it's bought out by some lost and injured souls. There are triggers for some of them but they work as pack to sort it out.

There is humour, feelings, connection and a family with new members who add so much joy.

What a wonderful way to start 2026 for this reader.

The perfect surprise novella to start the year off with!

I love getting to spend time with the Armitage pack. Nate and Arik's friendship is a particularly bright spot in this book, especially considering they don't even realize they've become best friends, but everyone else knows.

For maximum enjoyment, this should definitely be read after the other Armitage-centric Mismatched Mates books. There are numerous callbacks to previous events throughout.

Brilliant!!!!

I loved it!
So much fun with the antics of Nate and Arik, lol. The new issue the pack faced and how all of them pulled together - Ian, Matt, Jared, Calder and others - to fend off the threat and add to their pack, was genius.
Hilarious, touching, steamy and fun. Thank you Eliot Grayson for another holiday with the Armitages!🥰

So much fun to catch up with the Armitage boys and their mates. I loved all the different points of view. It was so great to see them all happy and thriving. I know we're unlikely to see them again, so it was lovely to catch up with them one last time. A love letter to wish them well and say goodbye. 5*

I loved being back with these characters! Though I was a little disappointed that my favorite couple got the least amount of page time. Seeing how all of these characters and their relationships have grown was very sweet. And there were some incredibly hilarious moments! A wonderful New Year's romp.

I absolutely loved this! Almost right from the beginning I knew this will be worth the read and I'm floating on such a high now that I'm finished.

With the background plot of Nate and Calder coming across and the pack once again standing up against evil assholes and fighting for for what is right we get another chance to catch up with the whole gang or otherwise known as the Armitage pack.

Every character has a chapter from their own POV and if you asked me I really couldn't have picked out my favorite because I loved all of them, with their own scars and insecurities, equally. I can't say that I didn't appreciate (to various degrees) the last few books in this series the Armitage pack always was and will be the heart and soul of this series.

I was under the impression that the series was finished but I am also really glad that the author was inspired to give us another story. Because, it will sound really cheesy, but I thought it was truly inspired. It was full of warmth and goodness and just perfect as a holiday read even though the holidays are pretty much over but I'm doing my best to cling to the holiday spirit just a little bit longer.

Still I am glad I found out this book was out and made a very wise decision to add it immediately to my TBR because this was, hands down, my favorite book of the series.

Themes: multiple POV, established relationship, shifters, holidays

"Hawthorne and Armitage had a mystery to solve—like the Scooby Gang, only usually with a lot more fatalities. We were awesome."

"Nate’s incredible ass epitomized the expression, I hate to see him go, but I love to watch him leave."

Ingredients for a successful Mismatched Mates book: snarky humor, preferably the laugh out loud variety (check). Hot and steamy sex scenes (check). A truly loathsome villain (check). More humor and sex scenes (check).

This novella, which the author says might be her last Mismatched Mates book, is thoroughly entertaining from start to finish. Most of the key characters from the series makes an appearance, and it’s a nice way to recall the fantastic (and often gruesome) stories each pair of mates experienced. Here’s hoping that Ms. Grayson does feel the pull of the muse and revisits this universe, perhaps, as she hints, to follow up on Charlie Fenwick and Dor’s story.

I never ever want this series to end. I read the Armitage Christmas book every year, can't get enough. Now I can read this one yearly as well. I have no notes, these characters are perfection. I love how all the couples moved along with the plot, every scene had its (very important) place and it was a well developed story for it to be a novella.

Caulder and Jared aren't a part of the Christmas book and I'm so glad they were featured here. Caulder is such a big giant teddy bear! So freaking sweet, I love how they "renewed" their mating. Always love to revisit Nate & Ian. The way they bicker is so endearing. And Matt and Arik are the stable ones in the family 😂. Holding it all together for everyone like the pack leaders they are.

Seriously, never end this series. Every time a new book pops up I'm like finally, a book I know I'm going to love and devour!

Okay, so Jared and Calder still have my heart in a chokehold!

Seriously, they are one of my all-time favourite book couples. It was nice to see the rest of the Armitage gang, too. While I do agree with another reviewer that this was total fan service (there are WAY better reviews out there than mine), it was such a treat to read this after the Holidays. I wish it were longer! I wanted more Jared and Calder.

Overall, this was a lovely way to start the New Year! Beautifully written and touching, I can't wait to see what Eliot Grayson has in store next. 4.35 stars.

Fun New Year's with the armitages

I honestly couldn't have picked a better book to start the year with. This author’s style is just everything I love—it has the perfect amount of drama and romance, but it’s balanced out with so much sassiness and literal laugh-out-loud moments. It felt "beautiful" to read, if that makes sense? It just had that warm, hopeful energy that you want when you're starting a fresh year. It was a total joy from start to finish, and I’m definitely going to be looking for more from this author.

Another book in the lives of the Armitage clan. This time Nate and Calder come across a wrecked car with 3 people in it. What follows is the usual high jinks that only they could get up to - and plenty of make up sex too!

If you've not read any of this series, do start with The Alpha's Warlock, but you can still enjoy this book as a stand alone.

Honestly all the book did was make me want to start a massive reread of the series.

If this does end up being the coda to the series, it’s a fitting one, with all the chaos, tender filth, violence, and found-family goodness one expects from Grayson’s delightful series. This was a welcome, feel-good escape from what the actual new year is already shaping up to be.

This one's for those of us who've read the Mismatched Mates series, since there are backstories here you're not going to know otherwise. I very much enjoyed revisiting these good-hearted goofballs and their weird lives. Anyone who enjoyed the novels will enjoy this novella.

ah I love this pack

Fabulous novella to finish off this series, although I really could read another hundred books about this pack, Eliot has said there may possibly be more in the future, so I’ll keep my fingers crossed

The Story Continued

When I saw this on kindle unlimited I hit download so fast. I wanted...no needed an update! I understand it was a New Year's novella...but for the amount of characters we were getting updated on, it was too short.

A Happy Armitage New Year

An entertaining and cute holiday short that made me smile. I loved seeing Nate, Ian, Arik, Matthew, Jared, and Calder again! The story had a bit of suspense, mischief, and of course romance.

I loved going back to this world and revisiting with these beloved characters. And while this easily could have been a cute, fluffy story, there was meat to this. A plot, deep feelings, and a story that felt meaningful. I adored it. It is an absolute must for fans of this series.
