If there was one word I could use to describe this story it would be fun. This was a light, laugh out loud read that was an all around good time and hella entertaining to listen to.

This is the second book in Rachel Van Dyken’s Consequence series. I haven’t read the first, so it’s obvious they can be read as stand-alones.

Our hero of this story, Max, gets put on a reality show similar to the bachelor. His friends think this is a great idea, to get him out of his funk and find a match for him. The problem is, the woman he chooses will get to pick between love or money. Him or the cash. He is okay with this, in fact, he finds a girl straight away that he can tell will be the winner.

Becca is not only someone he’s attracted to, she is someone he can see himself being friends with. They develop a friendship during this reality show, but it becomes more than that. They both start to develop feelings along the way and it leaves Becca to make a huge decision. The love or the money? It’s not as easy or predictable as you may think.

Max was a fantastically funny hero. He made the book for me. From start to finish there were too many laugh out loud moments from him to count. I liked Becca as well, though not nearly as much as Max. There were also a slue of secondary characters who were great.

The hero and the narration easily get 5 stars from me. It was funny (though a little over the top at times) and the story was good. I'd give it a 3.5 over all and highly recommend LISTENING to this one. The narrator was fantastic. If I read instead of listened, I'm not sure if it would have been as enjoyable for me.

**3 Mighty Max stars**

If you have read the The Consequence of Loving Colton then you probably have met and remember Max. In the first book Max pretended to be his best friend's boyfriend. After many shenanigans, his friends planned a revenge and applied for him to be the next Bachelor on the reality show "Love Island- Sink or Swim: Season Five".

Max got qualified being not only handsome, but also a millionaire. He's now forced to spend the next weeks in an island with 25 women , hungry for him, willing to be the winner and not only win his 'love', but also the financial reward. Becca is one of the contestants and she aims for the money, because she needs them for her college. She's not interested in him, especially since she was a local, who had met and rejected him before the game. Maybe an alliance between them could work, but what happens when her insecurities get in the way?

Max is a unique character. Completely funny, flirty and definitely over the top with his ridiculous words and actions. The whole book is like his character. Full of shenanigans and over the top scenes. For those who have read the first book, yes Jason was still a walking accident. I rolled my eyes several times, but I can't hide the fact that I also laughed and enjoyed Max's book, more than the first one. My biggest complaint though, was about the events that happened at the last part of the book. I was really disappointed by the turn of events at the final act at the island.. I'm not sure if I'm going to continue the rest of the series, but I'm definitely curious to read something different by Rachel. I think her Eagle Elite series will work for me, more than the Consequences.

As the blurb says, this is “Max’s Story.” If you haven’t read The Consequence of Loving Colton that probably means diddly squat. If you have, you have already determined whether you’re like me and totally in love with Max or reacted a bit differently to his character . . .

Houston commercial photography

Being that The Consequence of Revenge is a rom-com, there are only a few options for plotline. The one chosen this go ‘round is the “chauvinist pig meets his match” – and it was delightful. Not only did this book make the bad boy turn good, but it did it while HE WAS ON A REALITY SHOW!!!!!. Reality shows are my kryptonite. Zero defense.

Add in some super clingers Max has to avoid in order to survive make it through 21 days on the island from Hell . . . like the girl who wants to immediately call him “Lover” . . .

Houston commercial photography

to the bachelorette who wants to take control of things . . .

Houston commercial photography

to the Amazon who might just be able to break him in half . . .

Houston commercial photography

as well a GOAT!!!!

Houston commercial photography

and this made for quite the adorable little bit of fluff.

Of course, the story wouldn’t be complete without Max meeting his match. Like all NA stories, this one had (quite a bit, actually) of fade-to-black lovin’ . . .

Houston commercial photography

along with the saccharine sweet declaration of nearly insta lurv . . .

“I’m sure, no, I’m positive, that up until this moment I have been doing life wrong . . . because I haven’t been with you. It hasn’t been with you.”

Houston commercial photography

I love Rachel Van Dyken’s writing. Her stories are perfect reads for poolside (or spending all day at various Little League fields). She writes believable characters, the pace is fast and the humor is abundant. Now, I’m sure mass quantities of “feminists” will soon proclaim this book sets women back a gazillion years or some such, so consider yourself warned if you can’t deal with a womanizing MC. However, if you’re like me, you already know you could kick most guys’ asses, so just have fun with it . . .

Houston commercial photography

and know that Jason and Reid’s stories are still to come.

3.5 MAX Stars

description

I liked this book slightly better than the first book simply because I just love Max. In this book Max’s friends send him on a reality television show to find love since he has been stagnant since his best friend’s Milo’s wedding.

This story has tons of over the top shenanigsans not unlike the first book of this series. However, Max was an extremely loveable hero and his love interest was pretty normal and so the story did work. Max was his hilariously sweet self and his fall for Becca on this realty show was actually pretty fun. Becca went into this show with plans on only taking the much needed money offered to the winner should she forgo the bachelor’s love.

”I thought that because he was funny he was harmless, but I’d had no idea funny could be dangerous because it was too easy to let him in and once he was in he stayed there – refusing to budge. He wasn’t just funny, he was sexy and had a personality that was electric.”

The show set up and assortment of contestants was definitely entertaining as was the inclusion of all the characters from the previous book. I did find that the over use of humor once again could have been tapered down.

As for the ending, I didn't like how things played out on the final episode of the show at ALL. Still this was a decent read with a wonderful metrosexual bachelor named Max!

***I received a complimentary ARC of this book from the publisher, through Netgalley.com, in exchange for honest feedback.***

I absolutely love the other books I've read by this author, so when I saw this one I figured it would be an instant hit for me. While I enjoyed it for the most part, and have to admit that it kept me laughing for hours on end, I just never felt like I clicked with the characters or the storyline. Maybe it was so comical that I never felt a deep emotional connection. Who knows? It just didn't have that little something extra for me that catapults a book from good to great status.

If you've ever watched 'The Bachelor' on TV, then you've pretty much got the idea behind this story. Max, the hero, is signed up for the show by his friends. They think he is in a rut and needs to find love.

Among the twenty-five female contestants, is a girl that Max had unsuccessfully tried to pick up a few days earlier. Becca has decided to go on the show in an attempt to win the prize money. She's not interested in finding love. She's just looking to fund the last year of college. She never imagined that she'd be faced with the same guy that approached her with those lame pickups a few days earlier.

In no time, these two form an unlikely alliance. Max just wants to make it out of this show unscathed. He's positive that these women are mostly crazed and he has no intention of letting one of them sink their claws into him. When Becca comes to his rescue, she becomes his only friend.

Before long, their feelings become more romantic in nature. As the days pass, they continue to grow closer together. However, given the situation, neither is able to fully trust the others motives.

Overall, I give it 3 1/4 stars. It was fun and had me laughing from beginning to end. I liked the characters, but never felt more than a superficial connection to them. This was a good story for passing some time. It was sweet and cute, but maybe too much for me. I wanted to feel some angst or emotional turmoil, but that just didn't happen in this book.

3.5 sweet lunacy stars

The Consequences of Revenge is everything needed to teach Max the error of his jackassery. Max is a special breed of his own, managing to make his insanity cute and endearing. It's going to take a very special someone to accept him for who he is and play his game his way ... “Always more complicated but tons of fun."

Fun, sweet and completely ridiculous in a totally endearing way... This gives you the smile you reserve for your friends who are off the wall but you have than fond affection for. It was a needed read to lighten up my darker days of summer. Recommended for those who can find humor in the littlest things such a goat attack, a vandalized gecko, and even a zombie apocalypse.

4.5 On the Island Stars

The Consequence of Revenge is a standalone and is book two of the Consequence series. Each book is belly-laugh-out-loud funny and BALLS of GOOD TIMES.

I REALLY LIKE THIS SERIES.

This is Max and Becca’s story. Max is Milo’s best friend. He pretended to be with Milo and then he pretended to be gay < ---- crazy, but completely funny. Everyone is tired of Max being single and by everyone, I mean the whole gang. Colt, Milo, Jason and Reid. So, what do they do? They enter Max on a dating show, but it’s on an island with games.

Think The Bachelor meets Survivor.

You fight fire with fire. I think if we ever get off this island and the world gets taken over by zombies, I want you as my second-in-command.

When I read the part where they entered Max into the show, I had a HUGE smile on my face. I completely gobbled up this story-line. I LOVED IT! It’s just too cute and adorable. Max is a rich millionaire bachelor and he is just playing around until he becomes the CEO of his father’s company. He’s a super player with a funny personality.

Becca is a Starbucks employee and she needs money to pay off her student loans. She goes on the show for the major prize, a quarter million dollars. But when she meets Max, she doesn’t realize how much she actually likes him.

I’m sure, no, I’m positive, that up until this moment I have been doing life wrong… Because I haven’t been with you. It hasn’t been with you.

Max and Becca want two things. Max doesn’t want to be mauled by the crazy women and Becca wants to be the final girl to get the money. Max and Becca form a friendship to accomplish these two things. Max will bring Becca to the end so she can protect him from the other women and Becca gets to be the final girl.

I liked that there was ZERO angst in this book. It was start to finish SWEET and FUNNY. I loved the dynamics between Max and Becca. There wasn’t a Hero verse Heroine plot, it was just them getting to know each other. I loved the crazy women who tried to get into Max’s pants. Oh my belly aches from laughing so much.

Don’t worry, you get plenty of the gang, they make an appearance and I’m glad because I would miss them too much if they didn’t.

Rachel Van Dyken is a talented author. I’ve read most of her books, from the silly ones to the serious killing ones. She has a way in bringing you into different worlds and being completely consumed by them. I love it and I love her. Read this series, it’s PERFECT.

I'm really on the fence about this one...I liked it but not as much as the first novel in the series and because of that I wanted to give it 4 stars. But on the other hand I had much higher expectations from Max's story and because they weren't met I was inclined to give it 3 stars so I compromised and went with 3,5 stars.

Why wasn't I impressed?

Well because Max was hilarious in the previous book and I can honestly say that he kept the book going so I was expecting to role over from laughter while reading his book but that didn't happen. I don't know what went wrong but the jokes didn't really do it for me. Sure I laughed and had fun but it wasn't enough.

description

In this book Jason wants to get his revenge against Max and convinces the whole crew to help and make Max the next....*drum roll*....Bachelor. You know...like in the reality TV series.

description

description

So he gets to spend three weeks on a beautiful island with a few lovely girls...what could go wrong? Right?

description

description

But amongst all the crazy (girls) he meets Becca who is exactly his type of crazy and it immediately clicks. In the beginning she wants to win the money in order to pay for her school but after a while with Max she starts to think her priorities have changed.

description

But of course it can't be that easy because the author added to the mix the following ingredients:

- his brother Reid that wants to sabotage him and seduce Becca
- a gecko named Little G
- a goat named Hades that loves to eat underwear
- an Amazon that fishes with her bear hands
- skinny dipping
- an orange skinned man that is the host of the show
- swimming with the sharks
- a few brushes with death
...and more crazy stuff...

description

But in the end what will Becca chose? The money or Max?

Mischief and mayhem all rolled into one ultimately sweet story.

Max Emory seemingly has everything. He’s finished college, is incredibly good looking with a charisma to match and is heir to a hotel empire. What he doesn’t have is direction. And since losing his best friend Milo after she got married, he’s also lost his drive.
“I might have lost my best friend to marriage, but I’d gained Jason in the process, though his only goal during the last few months, since I’d graduated college, had been to get me off my sorry ass. But let’s be honest, I have a really nice ass, why not sit on it?”

But his forever meddling friends won’t let him go on like that much longer. They’ve thought of everything and in the hopes that he’ll find himself, they’ve signed him up without his knowledge to be the next bachelor in a hit reality TV show. Will he find more than wild animals on Love Island?
Little G

and Hades

Becca needs money to finish college. She’s working at a local Starbucks, and as luck will have it, she’s already rejected Max and his horrible pickup lines. Together with twenty plus other beautiful women, she’s on her way to Love Island to be a contestant and try to win a quarter of a million dollars or find love. But the more time she spends with Max the more she falls for his crazy magnetic personality. Can Max convince to choose him and love?
“I thought that because he was funny he was harmless, but I’d had no idea funny could be dangerous because it was too easy to let him in and once he was in he stayed there – refusing to budge. He wasn’t just funny, he was sexy and had a personality that was electric.”

Even though we met Becca from the start, it did take a bit for the actual getting to know each other to begin. Not the comedy part though, that was included in just about every page in the book except for the steamy and sweet moments, which… ok, also involved humor.

Besides having to survive horrific doctor checkups, he’s now faced with the fact that he can’t get out of participating in this crazy scheme and will have to live on the island with various questionably stable women. Ranging from an Amazonezk who could break him in half, to one that wants to eat him, to one that can’t even speak English. No worries though, in order to survive, he’s made a chart and nicknamed most of them. “There’s Angry, Grumpy, Sneezy, Dopey and Doc. Not gonna lie – kind of on the fence about Doc.”

And let’s not forget Hades the underwear eating goat and Little G the gecko that went everywhere in Max’s pocket. But from the moment he spots Becca and gets to know her, he finds that he’ll do just about anything to keep her.
“Can I keep you? … I’ll sell Reid… He can go live in Alaska for all I care, just tell me I can keep you. I want to freaking wrap you up, put you in my pocket, and never let go.”

I loved Max from the moment I met him in the previous book and he just proved to be even more endearing in this one.
“Not the time for hesitation. You’re either hashtag Team Max or hashtag Team Reid.”

Max is sarcastic and funny and I highlighted so many witty dialogues between him and ALL of the characters, including Hades and Little G. But there were also parts where I felt the loss of Max’s best friend and his self-doubt. I was touched by how he truly cares for Milo.
“I just wanted to be in your solar system even if I was Pluto… the furthest away from the sun.”

So I was pleased to no end he found a girl that understood, went along with and even encouraged his crazy but also someone that inspired his sweet side and made him go as far as to want to give up his man card.
“I’m sure, no, I’m positive, that up until this moment I have been doing life wrong . . . because I haven’t been with you. It hasn’t been with you.”

I can pretty much sum this series up in three words: delightful hysterical shenanigans. If you’ve read The Consequence of Loving Colt, you know that Max is an incorrigible, unfiltered charmer and together with the gang which are incredible together, you know you’ll be holding on to your stomach in fits of laughter. If you haven’t read book one in this series, don’t worry, you can read this book as a standalone while holding your stomach while laughing.

The story flew by in a series laughs, smiles and swoony moments and hit the perfect spot for when you want to escape into a light read. I can’t wait to read about Jason and Reid and see what hilarity Rachel will bring us.

Book Facts: The Consequence of Revenge is book #2 in the Consequence series by Rachel Van Dyken. It’s written from both points of view. Can be read as a standalone with a happy ending.

Max, Max, Max - you most definitely do NOT disappoint.

"Son of a bitch! I staggered back toward the bed. "How dare you invite Satan into my home? Everyone knows you have to wait to invite them, otherwise they have to say outside!"
"Pretty sure that's vampires." Reid laughed.

Oh Reid, I seriously love the poor soul. Before I go any further please let me explain that this is NOT a paranormal read if you hate them. Mind you, even if it was Ms. Van Dyken would make it an awesome one! Hopefully this should explain a bit more about the previous conversation...

Stupid goats. I shuddered and took a sip of coffee, not that all farmers had goats but still, just thinking about them freaked the shit out of me. They had red eyes. Only animals possessed by Satan had red eyes.

Now if I didn't know any better I'd think that Max was really religious. But trust me - He's SO not! He just has a little goat phobia, bless him...

description

I honestly didn't think I'd enjoy this much because the setting is a little different with him going on a reality show but Ms. Van Dyken nails Max and this book down to a tee. Like seriously, Max made me laugh (SO HARD) but he also made me swoon. And to be honest I didn't expect anything less from him. I loved how the whole gang featured in this book too and I can not wait for Reid's and Jason's story - I have taken quite a preference to Reid but only because the poor lad attracts trouble. First Grandma in book 1 and now the gummy bears. Poor Reid - I really do love him.

Anyway, I think this is another one of those books that just speaks for itself and you won't be able to help but love it (and Max) once you've read it. Perfect for any Romantic/Comedy fan! Also, my first buddy read with Cristina and even though it was quick and brief - it was fun and I loved every second of it. You're input and reviews are fabulous! Thank-you!

DNF 14%.

So this is a no from me. A friend recommended this one and I had high hopes because I liked another series that this author wrote. UNFORTUNATELY, I didn’t realize this is the second book of one I’ve tried before and also didn’t like at all.

The first 14% if the book is like a really really long inside joke, that is only KIND of funny if you’re in the group of friends, and I’m not in the group.

So if you like OTT slapstick comedy, based off jokes you’ve probably already heard before then I would definitely give this one a chance. I wanted to read it for the reality show element, but I can’t get past the first bit.

The Consequence of Revenge by Rachel Van Dyken was one of those stories that had me laughing and left a big smile on my face. I must say I really enjoyed this second installment more than the first book since the humor and sweet nature of the book pulled me.

#ConsequencesOfRevenge

So if you have seen the reality show the Bachelor, then you will get a general idea of what is in store for Max as his friends signed him up for the TV reality show. So once is Max on the reality show, let the shenanigans begins as these single women tries to win his heart and prize money. Well unbeknownst to Max, there was one contestant who had his attention from the start. Becca was an equally feisty heroine who was full of sass and humor. Both Max and Becca had a chemistry that was tangible and as a reader your couldn't wait for these two to finally realize their feelings. So will Max find true love on the island or will he be disappointed once he learns that Becca might not be looking for love but is after the prize money?

So if you are looking for a book where it is filled with humor, shenanigans, banter, and romance, then The Consequence of Revenge might be the book for you. There is nothing like a Rachel Van Dyken book to leave you smiling from this sweet romantic comedy.

I loved "The Consequence of Loving Colton." It was positively hilarious in that Ace Ventura kinda absurd way that was plausible on a 'omg these are some crazy Mfers' scale of 10. My absolute favorite book of the year!

The sequel, which stars BFF Max, starts off with the same brand of perfectly absurd humor. Evil gummy bears, a broken hypodermic needle in the arse, & a prostate exam to boot. Funny shiznet! You feel me?!?

Ehh, then things move to love island. Doom, duh, doom....

Here, the story loses me, most of the humor evades me, and the romance is such a weird bad joke that I'm left thinking Max really is gay. He and the goat have more chemistry, okay.

I'm lost because ALL the girls are f'ing unattractive, unintelligent, & unbecoming oddball crazies ASIDE from the MC?!? Really? Where was the fun in that?

There are a couple of funny moments on love island, but it's annoying vs funny for the most part.

Then, there's the romance. I expected Max to remain his oddball self but also be that charming ladies man that he was described as in book one. What I got was 100% oddball that morphed into a cheeseball near the end and zero of this supposed charming, smooth ladies man ever made an appearance. Everything was a joke with the couple, meaning none of the supposed feelings were ever meaningful... No sincerity. The few attempts at any meaningful dialogue, such as the moon bit, were cast in so much eye rolling cheese that I was laughing. Not the good kinda laugh, either... more the what an effing pity kinda laugh.

I had a dang countdown for this book I was looking so forward to reading. Sadly, it's a huge letdown both in general and compared to its' predecessor:((((((

4.5 stars until love island. Love island forward 2 stars.

Final rating: 3.5

The Consequence of Revenge is slightly better than The Consequence of Loving Colton. In this book, we get to see Max Emory's story. On the previous book, he was introduced as Milo's metrosexual best friend. He had a huge crush on her, but the feeling isn't mutual because Milo is in love with Colton. Poor guy just got friendzoned. Of course friendship remains but nothing more than that.

Going back, Max Emory is already rich guy but doesn't really have a job and he's known as the heir some big hotel business. Every time his friends set him up on some job interviews, he actually makes a way to be rejected. He really just needs to get serious in life. His friends signed him up ("Betrayed." I shook my head. "By my best friends. A bunch of Judases!" - Max (ROFL)!!!) on a Bachelor-like show to find who will capture his heart and there's a cash prize to it. Max doesn't really want to be a part of it but he's left with no choice and just play along. Stranded in an island with twenty four women including the barista he met on Starbucks, Becca. He knew she is the one for him but he needs to get to know her more. They partnered up with all sorts of things and found comfort with each other. On the other hand, Becca joined the contest for money. Things changed but which one will prevail? Money or Love?

Honestly, this is slightly better than the first book. I can't stop laughing throughout this book. Lots of banters and shenanigans. How can I not laugh on Max? He's afraid of GOATS. He gave the goat a name (Hades the Goat. Favorite meal: Max's boxers.) Even the HOUSE GECKO.. NAMED THE GECKO 'LITTLE G'. That's not all, he even gave nicknames to all the contestants. Yes, I enjoyed all these craziness but some parts are so cheesy and I had my eye-rolling moments. Also, it was a bit dragging that some parts are...meh. Still, Max made me laugh like a crazy bitch. I swear his reactions to goats are so damn hilarious.

"The Consequence Of Revenge" is the second book in the "Consequence" series by Rachel Van Dyken.
Max Emory is the main character and is introduced in the first book "The Consequence Of Loving Colton" which I loved. Max is hilarious and had me laughing through the entire story. Becca is the main female character and compliments Max's character beautifully.
After meeting once briefly, at a Starbucks, they find each other again while trapped on an island as part of the filming of a reality tv program.
Fun, romantic, with many laugh out loud moments I highly recommend reading both "The Consequence Of Loving Colton" followed by "The Consequence Of Revenge".

The Consequence Of Revenge was a slightly insane but quirky and hilarious read.

Max has been tricked shall we say with going on an dating show similar to The Bachelor. He’s a bit reluctant of course and let me tell you some of the women are in dire need of some psychiatric help.

Becca however is the one sane girl yet her motives for going on the show may not be in Max’s interests.

What ensues is some insane and crazy moments involving a goat a gecko and a bit of crazy revenge here and there.

There are some sweet moments mixed in with the crazy. And as the show goes on feelings start to get blurry, love starts to blossom and I found myself excited to see how this ends.

Will Max get the girl?
Will he get burnt?
Or maybe he will walk away?

So many potential endings in this story that could have played out. One things for sure this was another crazy funny rom com.

I can only imagine what is in store in the next books in this series.

Netgalley was kind enough to send me this book in exchange for an honest review.

The book is about Max, a young, rich guy who has just graduated from collage and had his heart broken by his best friend. His friends decide to help him out of his misery and sign him up for a reality TV show called 'Love Island'. So Max has to spend the next month or so on an island with 25 beautiful women and a goat.

It's the second book in a series, but it can be read as a stand-alone. I did read it as a stand-alone, because I didn't know that it was part of a series.

This book was really different for me. I have never read anything like this before. The writing style took a little getting used to, but it only took a few chapters to draw me in. It was a really quick, fast paced, addicting and really enjoyable read. At first I was a little bit skeptical. I've read a few reviews before I've started reading this book and everyone seemed to love Max and at first I couldn't see why. I hated him. But I still decided to finish this book and I am glad that I did. Because I did fall in love with Max.

My favorite parts of this book have to be all the movie/ book references. For example: Twilight, The Hunger Games, The Little Mermaid etc.

The only thing that bothered me a little bit was that I sometimes couldn't understand how Max and his friends interact and talk with each other and also that I didn't get their 'inside jokes'. But that is only because I haven't read the first book. In the end though I loved their group dynamics.

I gave this book four out of five start, but it could have easily been a five star book, if I'd have read the first book. I will definitely check out the next books in the series ( if there will be any ) and I am also thinking about reading the first one.

I also think that this book would make a great movie. I imaged Max to be a combination of Zac Efron and Nick Bateman, Emily Bett Rickards as Becca and Stanley Tucci as Rex.

So if you think that this is a book you'd enjoy, I would definitely give it a try. It's not a book to take to seriously but a cute, summery read.

P.S. I'll might upload a review onto my youtube channel. If not I will definitely talk about it in my June Wrap-up.

I couldn't stop laughing the whole time I read this. Every single moment is so beautifully created. You're constantly wondering:
(A) Whether the book is a perfect balance between comedy and romance
(B) Are-they-or-aren't-they all slightly unhinged in this book
(C) Why don't they let Rachel Van Dyken film and/or run The Bachelor

Because if that lady ran the show I'd watch it every year, without fail, with a bag of popcorn sitting on the seat beside me!

Max is the best friend of Milo (from The Consequences of Loving Colton) and since her marriage he's been a bit lost, unbeknown to him his friend have set him up for a reality tv show, where he is the bachelor prize and spends a couple of weeks with 25 hot women.
I really enjoyed this story, I already liked Max from the first book, but this just cemented him into a little bit of my heart.
The hilarity of this bunch of friends started right from the first page and i can honestly say that i read this book with tears of laughter most of the way through, yet at the same time engrossed in the story. Right from the consumption of the laxative like gummy bears, the goats, the gheko's and the strange cray cray women, you will not be able to put this book down !
But will the story end well? will Max find love or will the girl chose the money? I know what and who i was rooting for ! You really have to read it !!!!!
I would highly recommend this book !

Second book in Rachel van Dyken's Consequence series, but can be read as a standalone. Sequel to "The Consequences of Loving Colton", this is Max's story. "The Bachelor" reality TV-type rom-com, which was funny, light, and completely over the top, but FUNNY. Really entertaining narration.

Max didn't disappoint. His funny personality makes him a unique character. Funny, flirty and at times ridiculous - but he doesn't mind. And that's something I really like. Not as in "I want one Max for me" but same as Milo I'd love to have him as a best friend.

With hs good looks and charms there's much more to him but he keeps just waiting for the CEO position and the millions he's going to inherit.
Because his friends are sick of his unambitious drifting after college they decide to make him the new "Bachelor" in the Dating Show.

He finds himself stranded in paradise with 24 women - and some of them are crazy! There also is Becca and he likes her, though they've met before and she turned him down. But she's here for the cash prize and not interested in finding love. Especially with someone like Max.
But soon they become friends and allies - he'll bring her through to finals so she can take the money and keeps the other contestants at bay.

Of course they grow closer and romantic feels come up but given the situation they can never fully trust eachothers motives and the production keeps surprising them until the end. And not in a good way...

I loved the funny dialogue that kept me laughing through the whole book and also the Idea of the Bachelor adventure. Reality TV really is everywhere and it's entertaining - exactly like this book.
Also I haven't read a story about it and together with the development, this makes it just something different. And of course it's easy to picture everything, from the situations to the crazy-scary women Max has to face.

Max and Becca sure have some dynamics and I felt them as friends but not so much as lovers. And I was disappointed how things turned out in end. I would've wished different. It's kind of the worst one chosen of all potential endings I thought of.

3,5 Stars for the good time I had while reading this but it's nothing I'll remember for long. Still looking forward for more of van Dyken because her books are hilarious

There was lots of humor in this book, there's always humor in Rachel's books it's what.make me come back for more. Max and Becca always seem to have interesting conversations:
"I pointed at his pants. “Right, well, tell your parts to paralyze so people don’t think ropes and balls turn you on.”
“What?” He looked up and let out a defeated sigh. “I can’t help that Edward wants to be free. I would too. It’s okay, little buddy."
Add Reid into that mix and it gets personal, "not a humble bone in that body, is there?” Reid asked seriously. “And I meant the whole underwear situation. You gonna free-ball it during your date? Because I sure as hell wouldn’t take that chance, not with Becca wearing white." Would I describe Max as a handsy type of guy... maybe only where Becca is concerned, "I’ll make it brief, so at the end of the night? You better be ready to pay up . . .” He pinched my ass. “Because I’m collecting." I'm hoping Reid is next.

Jason is seeking revenge against his friend Max by signing him up for a bachelor type reality show. Max gets to spend 3 weeks on an island with a bunch of women looking for love (or maybe the cash prize.) This book was laugh out loud funny, a little over the top at times but was a light, funny story which was exactly what I was looking for. As much as I love Max, I can't wait until we get Reid's book!

3.75 Stars

I liked this one even more than the first. The dynamic among the friends is SO engaging and Max...well, he has to be read to be fully appreciated. He can be so deliciously evil (poor Reid). I guiltily admit that I seem to like Max the most when he's doing his worst. Moving right on to the next book in the series. :)

For four years, Max's "job" has been to be Milo's best friend. After he helps her marry her childhood love, Colton, Max feels adrift without purpose. To get Max off the couch, his gang of friends signs Max up to be the next bachelor on a reality dating show taking place on an island. Max doesn't think he can find love, let alone survive, being on an island with 25 crazy women. He realizes that one of the women is Becca, the barista that has shot down his advances numerous times, and enlists her help to get through the show. Becca is there for the money anyway, so an alliance seems like a good idea. Of course, their alliance turns into something more. Aw!

I was so excited to have more Max!!! Max is so funny! Over the top and ridiculous, funny. I cannot even describe how absurd some of the things in this book are, but I laughed so hard listening to the audio version that my kids thought I was having a seizure. I'm just sorry the book is over, I wish we could have more Max. I'm a little worried that the next book in the series can't possibly be as good/funny as the first two, but I'm willing to give it a go. Smut factor for this one is 2 out of 5. I think the anticipation gets more points than the actual smut itself.

Max was probably my favorite thing about book one so I was eager to read his book. After finishing it, I like him even more.

The beginning of this novel is slapstick comedy like the first was. Some is more over the top and even a bit cheesy. I found myself literally laughing out loud. After it really gets into the meat of the story, there are actually several surprisingly deep parts. Max is quite the man. He mostly just shows his easy going, silly, well-groomed side, but he is also very smart, romantic and athletic. I was truly shocked by how hard I fell for him. One minute he had me giggling and the next swooning.

The female lead is easy to like, and her personality fits Max's perfectly. They are a definite match. The rest of the little gang of friends also play their parts. It was nice catching up with everyone again. New characters and animals join the cast. They are great additions.

The overall plot was good, not mind-blowing, but I did enjoy it. I recommend it to those looking for something light and fun, a good-time read. On the other hand, Max, really stands out to me. He's the total package— gorgeous looks, wealth, intelligence, excellent sense of humor and the biggest heart ever. I love him. I want my own Max.

Rachel does it again, what a fabulous read this was.
This is the second book in The Consequence series and doesn't fail to disappoint. In the first book we saw Milo and Colt get their happy ever after after a few mishaps and hilarious events. This book however is about Milo's best friend Max whom is moping after losing his best friend Milo to another guy. So he gets set up to appear on reality dating show The Bachelor by all his friends as they think enough is enough. Will Max find love out of the 24 women who are chosen to star in the show to win his love or do they just want the cash prize. Max is hilarious and I think he meets his match in wittiness when he meets Becca. Throw an underwear eating goat and a baby gecko into the mix and there's the perfect crazy family.

I can never ever seem to fault Rachel's books. Each and every one just gets better and better. The writing is flawless and with this particular series I have had a lot of laugh out loud moments to the point in which my husband thought I was having an online affair like a giggly teenager. It's funny, witty and is very much a breath of fresh air to read and it was very much enjoyed. I hope we see more in this serious perhaps Jason or Reids story. Thank you Rachel it was a pleasure as always and I will definitely be recommending to my fellow book lovers.

Max is set up to be the new bachelor on a dating show, after being set up by the gang (Milo, Colt, Jason and Reid). The lead up to departing for the show is all slapstick comedy, but it is done well. While looming over his documents for the show, he notices that one of the contestants is the barista from the coffee shop, who wasn't impressed by his pick up lines. Becca realizes on the plane who Max is...and at first is stand-offish with him. But she realizes pretty quickly how much she actually likes Max as a person.

Max and Becca form an alliance, both trying to work the show to their advantage, but still maintaining their friendship. They both also realize that their friendship has the potential to turn to something more, which it does. Of course, there are lots of hilarious moments on the island...
goats, geckos, mishaps and revenge.

Max .....he's just a funny guy. I like that he doesn't take anything too seriously. Becca is a sweetheart and she not only understands Max's quirkiness...she helps it to shine.

All in all, I really enjoyed Max's story......and I can't wait until the next installment in this series.
