Kayson Cavalier never asked to become anything more than a normal teenager. But when darkness begins swallowing Sonorah High from the inside out, he's pulled into a hidden world layered beneath our own - a place where silence has weight, shadows have memory, and spirit is the only weapon that cuts both ways.
Drawn into the ancient Order of the Crossguard, Kayson discovers a realm called the In-Between, a spiritual battleground where Fallen Angels twist reality through fear, corruption, and deception. Guided by mentors who carry scars of wars no one remembers, he learns to navigate resonance, wield his Soul Bible, and unlock the first Armor of God - the Belt of Truth.
But truth demands more than courage.
It demands surrender.
And the deeper Kayson steps into his calling, the more he the darkness at Sonorah High isn't random. It's planned. Calculated. And someone - or something-has been watching him long before he ever knew the word "Crossguard."
A story of identity, purpose, and the cost of standing firm when everyone else runs, The Belt of Truth launches a sweeping five-book saga about becoming who you were created to be, even when every force in the unseen world tries to stop you.
Kayson’s journey from a cautious, quiet teenager to a leader and a warrior is filled with challenges to the very truth of his being. His struggles with belonging, loss, and guilt provide an intriguing story that will make you think about what it means to stand strong in the face of adversity.
The setting is a unique premise blending elements of spirituality, philosophy, and fantasy with the theme of faith. It’s a small world; some of the world-building felt a little vague, and there were some moments that felt dragging, but it sets up a universe of depth and stakes.
The side characters have their own personalities that complement Kayson and bring an endearing color to the story. The big bad definitely hooked me and I can’t wait to see how he is developed!
