I was drawn in by the cover and blurb of this one hoping this would be a good fit for me. Thankfully it was. We meet Carina/Kalyna, a High Priestess for the Goddess Bendis who is looking for her soulmate. For the most part, I really enjoyed this book. At first, I wasn’t sure as a couple of things in this book bothered me. One, sometimes a chapter would start, and the action had already taken place, and we are told not shown. Thankfully, that didn’t happen often. Second thing is more something that is hard to pin down. I find the first part of the book to read like we already know this universe, so nothing has to be explained, and we are dropped in the middle of the action with an almost…mythical feel to the book. However, by the end of the book everything is explained, and I felt much more at ease with the universe, as well as taking on a more modern feel, which is more of a personal preference. All in all, this book is definitely worth a read. Recommend. I was provided a complimentary copy which I voluntarily reviewed.
