de Macy #2

Shades Of Winter

Rate this book
LADY GENEVIEVE DE MACY HAD A KINGDOM AT HER FEET, BUT SHE WANTED MORE...

Her father was Lord Jaufre de Macy, the powerful Dark Knight. Without Mercy. Her childhood playmate had been Henry II, Plantagenet King of England. The noblest knights of Britain vied to do her bidding. With all that, Lady Jenny, restless and reckless, fell in love with a scheming dishonored outcast.

Perfect in his tempting masculine beauty, Amaury de Lainville was irresistible, and Jenny drifted ever more deeply into an illicit passion that threatened to ruin her whole future. Until she met - and believed she hated - another kind of man, one who made her see - perhaps too late - how dangerously close she had come to the abyss.

I loved the book that came before this (Winterborne) so much so that I could say it was easily one of my favourite medieval romances ever so of course I had to do a lot to track down the next book in the series. However I won’t lie- the beginning of this book nearly killed me because it references the couple from the first book and questioned my beliefs in HEAs. I did decide to go on and I’m not sorry I did because once again I was in for an epic ride.

Our heroine is young and impulsive and when she draws too much attention from the king her father sends her off to her brother’s estate in France while he sets about finding a good husband for her. Her father thinks he’s found the perfect husband to complement his daughter- a man who will always be steadfast. However the hero and heroine’s first meeting is disastrous and our heroine only marries him under extenuating circumstances where she has no other choice.

One thing you can be sure of with this author- you will get an epic love story filled with medieval history and politics, but also characters that have to work HARD for their love story and this book is no exception. If you love these kind of books like I do then I 100% recommend this book!
