A rule-bound heart. A joy-filled pastor. One Christmas that could change everything.
Alice MacPherson came to Idaho with nothing but her nursing skills, her Bible, and the heavy burden of a faith shaped by her father’s endless rules. Raised to believe beauty, celebration, and even Christmas traditions were distractions from true devotion, she expects nothing more from life than hard work and quiet duty.
Reverend Truman Blankenship has spent five years shepherding the people of Gibeon with steady faith and a joyful heart. Especially at Christmastime, he delights in filling the church and parsonage with greenery, laughter, and celebration—traditions that seem to puzzle the serious young nurse more than he cares to admit.
Thrown together in the homes of the sick, in the bustle of the town’s Christmas preparations, and in the laughter of children rehearsing a nativity play, Truman and Alice discover an unexpected attraction. But as Christmas draws near, Alice must confront the demands of her father and the fears and expectations that have shaped her life for far too long.
To Fall in Love at Christmas is a tender Christian historical romance filled with faith, hope, healing, and the joy of hearts transformed by love.

Received this book as an ARC through BookSirens/author. Sometimes the quiet stories just sit right with a reader.
A young Pastor has been in the church for six years, and obviously cares for each member of the community, regardless of their attendance at church. He lends his hands and strength to far more than simply the duties of the ministry.
A young woman arrives as the nurse to assist the local Doctor. She is well trained and efficient, but carries the weight of her upbringing — most especially her father’s disapproval of not only her actions, but of herself as a person. It was only her mother’s intervention that allowed her to take her nursing training at all.
With the death of her mother during her training, she had nothing left at home, and buried herself in her duties as a nurse.
Surprising them both, a spark forms between the Pastor and the Nurse, but neither are brave enough to admit it aloud. Her father’s voice in her head threatens to undo all the joy that she sees in the young man, and adding to her pain, a letter arrives from him, demanding she return home.
Will their love be realized or squashed before it is allowed to blossom? Will all the years of verbal abuse from her father cause her to deny her right to happiness? Read through the book and reap the benefits of the thoughts that she struggles with as she tries to sort through the truth from the judgement.
Reverend Truman Blankenship has been the pastor in Gibeon, a small eastern Idaho town, for the last five years. Truman loves his congregation, praying for them daily and lending a hand where needed. While visiting a sick boy, Truman encounters the new nurse, a very serious Alice MacPherson.
Growing up in a home full of joy during the holidays, Truman wants to share the same with his flock. When the ladies of the church suggest more than a simple Christmas service, they have his full support. Alice, however, was raised in a strict household and taught that celebrating the season was meant to be solemn, not filled with decorations.
To Fall In Love At Christmas is the sixth and final book of The British Are Coming by Robin Lee Hatcher. I loved Truman's story. I don't recall reading many books that show romance through the eyes of a pastor. As with the others in this series, the setting is beautiful. I can't imagine going about everyday activities in that much snow. I'm sad to see it end, but I'm looking forward to seeing what is next from this author.
I received a free copy of this book. I volunteered to read it and write a review.
Alice is new to Gibeon, ID. She is the new nurse in town. She was raised by a very strict, unloving father. Truman has been the pastor in town for 5 years. He is still very young - 27 - but the town loves him and he loves everyone in town. Alice is surprised by the joy in the town. She is surprised at the townspeople who just accept her. She never felt like she measured up enough for her father. Truman asks to court her, but she's skeptical that they are a match. She is very solemn and strict. He is filled with joy and laughter. As they court, Alice's heart softens and she feels at home. When her father writes to demand she come home to fulfill his duty to him, she is torn. She doesn't want to, but the Lord commands that we obey our parents. Such a really good book.
This is my voluntary review of a copy I was given.
The whole course of the story takes about six months, but it doesn't feel rushed. Most of the townspeople are warm and welcoming. Alice is not used to this. She was never good at making friends, always working hard to gain her father's approval, but only earning criticism. She guards her heart. But these people... they take her in as one of their own, including her conversations and plans for upcoming celebrations.
That's where the first bit of conflict shows. She was raised not to celebrate anything joyfully. Life is practical—work and duty with no frivolity. Joy has no place in it.
I love how she comes to take her first steps out of that rigidity and into the start of her HEA.
This is the sixth and last book in Hatcher’s The British Are Coming series. There are updates on each of the other couples in the series sprinkled throughout this book, which is enjoyable, but you do not have to have read the other books to enjoy this one. The love story is sweet and slow, with not too many obstacles and only one shocking plot twist. I enjoyed the fairly relaxing read compared to some books I’ve read recently. The spiritual insights on joy, love, respecting parents, and obedience are great. I enjoyed getting to know the new characters, and wish the series could keep going!
This was such a great story of finding love and acceptance while learning about and accepting the unconditional love of God. It was beautiful to watch Alice overcome the rejection and pain of her past as Truman gently leads her to a deeper relationship with God through his kindness and the Word of God. As she sees real love expressed in families and friends, she finds healing and hope she never thought possible. The one sad part was that her father could not accept her for who she was, but she was freed when she was able to forgive him.
I received a copy of the book from the author as an ARC, but a positive review was not required, and these are my honest thoughts.
To Fall in Love at Christmas is Book 6 in The British are Coming by Tobin Lee Hatcher. I believe that this author writes excellent Christian fiction. Alice is a nurse who had a very strict father who had many rules on how to live a Christian life. Reverend Truman has the joy of the Lord in his heart and he celebrates Christmas with laughter and joy. I really enjoyed reading this romance. Alice must overcome her father's training and her fears if she is to have a relationship with Truman. I think that this is such a sweet book and a wonderful escape into the pages of an excellent Christian romance. I received an are for free and am leaving my review voluntarily.
