This is a beautiful epic fantasy story with a very strong and phenomenal world building. Actually this is what I loved the most in this book, the author used a vivid imagination and created something extraordinary!

The characters are worked out in detail and while some things are left a bit in the open, I believe it’s deliberately done, for the next book(s) in this series.

A high fantasy romance with a strong female lead.
There are twists and turns, family tension, amazing friendships, forbidden love, heartbreak, resilience and strength. I really enjoyed it and i' looking forward to the rest the series. The couple of small critiques I had were:
1. It was a little confusing to know who was talking at times.
2. a couple of small scenes felt like they missed details and were abruptly cut off.
Saying that, I do not hold that against this book and i could still enjoy it.

A Strong Fantasy Beginning with Heart and Promise

Winterfall: The Fallen Kingdom is an engaging and evocative start to a new fantasy series that blends political intrigue, emotional growth, and chilling world-building. From the icy landscapes to the fractured throne at its heart, this book lays out a rich setting that draws you in and leaves you excited to explore more.

The story follows a determined protagonist struggling to navigate a kingdom in turmoil, where loyalties are tested and the cost of survival is high. The stakes feel real, and the sense of a looming threat — whether from rival factions, dark forces, or buried secrets — gives the plot momentum that keeps you turning pages.

One of the book’s biggest strengths is its character development. The main cast is layered and nuanced, with motivations that unfold gradually and make their decisions compelling, even when they struggle or falter. The relationships — both alliances and rivalries — add emotional depth that complements the political and magical world around them.

The world-building is immersive, and while some details are introduced slowly (or held back intentionally for later books), the setting feels lived-in and atmospheric. The blend of magic, conflict, and courtly tension makes Winterfall feel familiar yet distinct within the fantasy genre.

My only minor critique is that pacing occasionally dips in quieter sections, and a few plot threads feel like they almost needed more clarity — but those same moments also build anticipation for the sequels.

Overall, Winterfall: The Fallen Kingdom delivers a compelling foundation for its series — full of intrigue, nuanced characters, and the promise of epic developments to come. This is a strong four-star start that will appeal to readers who enjoy character-driven fantasy with political stakes and a wintry touch ❄️

✨ Recommended for fans of richly imagined fantasy worlds and evolving kingdoms.

I was giving this book early to read as an arc reader. I have recently gotten into reading Romantasy. I highly recommend this book. I loved the main characters Maria and Theoden so much. I also loved the other characters too. I loved the other characters so much i want books of each characters story lol. If you are into romantasy , forbidden love, magic, spicyness, family and friendships etc I definitely recommend this. This is book 1 of a series and I will definitely 100% be back for the other books. This has to be my favorite read of 2026 so far. To sum up the book it’s about our main characters Maria and Theoden. Theo is a dragon and Maria is an elf. They have been in a relationship for 200 years but have had to keep it a secret. Maria mother wants her to marry a King because she is set to take over her Kingdom and become queen. This whole time reading i was rooting for Maria and Theo and I just wanted them to forget the rules and just be together so bad. Will they get their happy ever after? What will happen? Also Theo was ordered by Maria father to be her protector when they met. Ugh i can continue yapping about this book forever but id rather everyone read it!!!!

I really, really liked this premise. At the start, I was able to overlook the prose and some of the more YA moments, but as the book progressed, I found it harder to ignore. That said, I did love parts of this story. The MMC was a standout for me — a total green flag, shaded grey when it came to his love. The story arc was unique and kept my attention. I think this book has so much potential, and I can absolutely see readers falling in love with these characters. Unfortunately, it fell just a bit short for me overall. Still, if the synopsis interests you, I’d recommend giving it a go. It was a fun read.

If you want a romantic fantasy that dives into a world of forbidden romance and political tension, then this is for you.

The magic, the world building, the relationships between characters is intriguing and the plot will have you leaning over the edge of your seat.

It’s long, it’s a little chaotic, but it’s fun. Definitely worth the read.

The romance is a little more mature than YA to me ( seems a little more NA) so young readers be aware.

Maria and Theo, from two different worlds that love each other in secret. I enjoyed the mental banter between Maria and Theo. The twist and turns, the secrets, and the love that they have for each other had me turning the page.
